So this actually happened. We have just returned home from a trip abroad and have to walk straight into running errands all day for my work. I tell my wife we'll pick up some food at the new place (that looks amazing) as a treat... She calls "Why yes. Let me transfer you to the bar area..." 5 mins pass on hold and we return to the girl out front "Oh I'm sorry. Let me walk back there and make sure they pick up." 5 mins pass and we are back with our new friend. She laughs. "Ok let me just take the order". I'm thinking it must be just the kids playing around. As we've been on hold for almost 15 mins we're almost at the restaurant. You know what we're here now. It's pretty quiet. Let's just eat here. Wife agrees. So we walk in and who is behind the bar? The manager. Entertaining 3 slightly inebriated ladies... In the function room are another 3 younger ladies finishing up some kind of bridal/baby shower. They leave from the rear. The "manager" almost trips over himself running to the front of the restaurant "Are they leaving?" He asks the girl... "Thank you ladiesssss!!" He shouts as he finally manages to get out the door. This guy after some whispering with the staff has the audacity to come to our table and say "You were the ones who ordered the to-go?" "Yes". I reply. "Yeh we don't mind, we're more than happy to accomodate you". Then he literally hides behind the wall waiting for us to say something about the whole situation. I cannot tell you how ridiculous this whole charade was. I probably should have said something about him not answering the phone but we didn't have our food yet and this guy was not a manager and seemed a little unstable. We left a whole pizza minus one slice which was actually just bread with some slices of tomato on top. No questions. No "is everything ok?" When I asked for the check it took another 10 mins and it had a To Go charge on it. As I'm staring at it he's over at another register and decides to print out another copy without the additional charge before having a young man bring it to me. Food was ok, and the younger servers were really professional so we tipped well, but I'll never be back as long as this bizarre person is running the place. I was highly disappointed because I have a dairy allergy and in the crab appetizer they did not mention that dairy was in it on the menu. After I caught it because they had a drizzle over my wontons, I asked the waiter is their dairy in it? And I found out dairy is in the crab mixture. The manager only credited my crab meal only. I appreciated the waiter saying make here next order VIP. But the people that I was with were already finishing there meal by the time I got mine. Poor customer service. Manager should have credit my meal as well. Seriously. My thing is own up to your mistake. If I didn't catch it I would have been sick for at least a week and out of work . read more

I've been here several times and the food, service, and the experience never disappoints! Bekah is so great and so is the rest of the staff! Thomas has the best drink recommendations and De'yonce is very attentive. I really enjoy their happy hour. Half priced drinks and apps. Their lobster potstickers and the Carnitas Egg Rolls are very good. It's also hard to find a great brunch spot but I highly recommend coming here! They have patio seating if that's your vibe and you can't beat the mimosas. I went here with my grandparents one day to try something new and omg this restaurant was so good! We got the fish and chips, lobster grilled cheese, and the caprese chicken sandwich and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the experience. We came here for dinner last night to meet some friends and bring the kiddos with us. They have a cute greenery area for the kids to play if you're sitting outside. We decided to order a few appetizers outside before going inside for dinner. They have $5 appetizers on the happy hour menu so we tried the flat breads ( that's what they call them) they are NOT flat breads. I LOVE me some good flatbread so we ordered 2. I was highly disappointed when they came out bc they were just very doughy thick deep dish pizza. No flavor what so ever on either pizza. The waitress told us there would be 8 shrimp cocktail with the appetizer and there was only 4 so that was pretty overpriced $1.25 a shrimp? We went inside and order dinner and I had the Chimichurri Steak. I will say that the steak was cooked perfectly however the grits they were served with had 0 flavor. Overall I would say I'm happy to come but prob won't be back for the food. read more

Let me start by saying we normally love our food and our experience when we go to the restaurant. Tonight, we had Door Dash bring us two cod and chips and there was more beading than cod. I've had it at the restaurant and it's the best I ever had. Shame. We also, ordered a piece of chocolate cake and Key Lime pie. Cake wasn't worth $10.00... hardly any cake, more mousse. Not my cup of tea. Key lime pie... same thing... not worth $10.00. Not a chef style cake or pie. Cafeteria style restaurant has better desserts and half the price. We paid way to much for this tonight. We won't order again. It's been hit or miss in the restaurant the last few times. read more

possibly one of the worst meals i've eaten at a restaurant. i ordered the napa portobella chicken, the entire dish tasted like alcohol because of the red wine used. youre basically eating alcohol flavored rice and chicken. the rice was inedible. I attached a photo to show how unappetizing it looks. i also ordered a cosmopolitan martini which was very strong, i basically ordered straight vodka. the waitress was very rude and unhelpful, she didn't even give us menus. The atmosphere is great and there is a nice open green space where kids can play. The service was also great when we went. However, the food is overpriced and under delivered. Based on the menu, it looks like it would be higher end meals cooked to order. We got a sea food platter with root vegetables and the short rib dinner. The short rib tasted more like pot roast than short rib, it did not have the good short rib flavor and was very dry. The seafood platter was rather rubbery and had little to no flavor. We will likely come back and try something else but I still believe that the prices are much, much higher than the quality of food. read more

He gave us appetizer recommendations- (pork carnitas egg rolls and hummus) both were delicious! The patio is lovely, they have heaters for cold days and a.c. For hot days! First time here tonight and it was spot on!!! They are very clean and have amazing staff. We started with the spinach artichoke dip. Didn't think to take a pic, but it was sooooo good! I decided on the grilled chicken sandwich with avocado. I couldn't resist trying the "sweet bun" in description. It did not disappoint!!! It was full of flavor and the presentation was amazing. My husband had the chimichurri steak with asparagus. He liked it but said it lacked a little flavor. But.... he's a guy that LOVES seasoning. We then forced ourselves (ha!) to try the mousse cake. Glad we didn't skip it- YUM! Our waitress, Brittney, was so sweet and attentive. We will definitely come back and move around the menu. read more

Recently visited Union Kitchen for the first time and was highly disappointed in the food. My burger was not just overcooked to very well done (having asked for medium)--it was charred to the point that every bite left a bitter aftertaste, and the only reason I didn't send it back was because by that time we had already sent back my kid's mac and cheese (how do you need up mac and cheese?) and they forgot to substitute fries for the chips. My wife's $18 pasta was decent, but there was no side, no bread, nothing more than fettuccine, cream sauce, and grilled chicken. Hardly worth the $18. Lastly, the appetizer of spinach dip was a tiny ramekin filled with spinach, barely an artichoke, and cheese that was so overcooked that it simply hardened as a rock around the rim of the ramekin. I guess the food was so bad that the only positive was the small portions...that is until you see the prices and realize you're being taken advantage of by this place. On the positive side, the wait staff was great. Still, when you're hungry and go to a restaurant for a meal, "great wait staff service" is not what I'm looking for above and beyond the quality of the food. That's should be the cherry on top not the headliner of the meal. read more

Fantastic place for lunch! This was our first visit to Union Kitchen and we were very impressed.We started our meal with an appetizer of fried calamari that was cooked to perfection. I ordered the beef medallions and my husband had the fish and chips. My husband said the fish and chips was the best he's ever had in Houston. My filet beef medallions were cooked the perfect medium rare and the sauce was amazing on a bed of mushroom risotto. Our server Illeana was sure that all of our needs were met and very attentive. During our meal the manager Kevin stopped by to make sure everything was perfect. Table are separated so they can practice social distancing. I felt very safe eating at this restaurant. We were given a coupon to return since this was our first visit. If you are looking for great service, outstanding food in Katy this is definitely the place to go. We will be back! read more

This used to be our favorite brunch place... they used to have bottomless penny mimosas for like 13 bucks and you get the souvenir glass. We came today and they are selling a 21 dollar bottle of champagne with two shots of juice and if you need more juice it's 4 dollars extra, plus they do not give you the souvenir glass anymore. The restaurant is an excellent addition to Katy dining. The lady Johana came by and sanitized our table, what a great service knowing that everything is clean and fresh in these times you cannot be too careful. She was very friendly and helpful a real pleasure to see that they employ positive people with excellent customer service skills. The food was very good as well after we ate she came by and cleaned the table. I cannot stress enough how clean the restaurant was, even the bathrooms. read more

This was our first time eating here and most likely our last... I'm giving this place 2-stars because while the space is nice and inviting, with an appearance of a nicer high end restaurant, the service and the food did not match the atmosphere. We had to flag our waitress down several times to get service. Looking around, the place wasn't that busy with several empty tables around us, and even though there were several servers around us, ours was MIA for long periods of time. A table next to us was seated, ordered an appetizer, served and ate their appetizer, in the length of time it took for our server to pick up our check so we could leave. With 3 antsy kiddos, I really appreciate when a server is quick to pick up the check. As for the food itself, I would not order the short rib grilled cheese. The meat was dry and there was no tomato bacon onion jam on it. It was too "meaty" for a grilled cheese anyways. It should have just been called a short rib sandwich. Not to mention that the French fries are an up charge for the sandwiches. Which is a tad ridiculous when you're paying $20 for a grilled cheese. The other food we ordered was "okay", nothing to rave about it. Nor did we take home our left overs, which is saying a lot. read more

I was reluctant to try Union Kitchen because of the bad reviews. It was our anniversary and we don't eat out because of covid and wanted somewhere close enough to still be warm when we got back our house so we decided to try. I had the scallops, my husband had a chicken dish and we shared the chocolate cake. It was a little salty, but very good, we both enjoyed it. They were prompt and brought our food out curbside. The $2.80 takeout charge is a small price to pay for takeout. I hope others give it a try and they make it through covid, I will def go back! read more

I've come here twice, love this location for the scenery, but always feel pretty unwelcome. I recently celebrated my birthday here and when trying to get reservations a month in advance I was asked "well what is the celebration even for" in a rude manner as if they didn't want to accommodate the number of guests I needed (10). When we arrived I felt like we were treated poorly, no silverware at the table and we were asked before ordering "are we aware of the gratuity and how will we all be paying". Then towards the end of us leaving we were told by our waiter that the manager complained that we were too loud and could not be served anymore. Umm...just my opinion...over priced. Lobster grilled cheese was weird. Tomato bisque was intense and had the consistency and taste of jar pasta sauce. Fries were best part of that meal. Fish $ chips looked good. The chimichurry steak was tasty but it was almost like medallions. No one liked the grits that accompanied. Wife liked the chopped salad with salmon. Absolutely blown away!! My family and I just moved to the Tamarron area and we found this little spot. We walk in and were greeted by the manager Brian. We asked what's good here and he spoke abt the menu with knowledge and completely sold us. That, and the $13.50 bottomless mimosas (with souvenir glass). Our server, Molly, suggested the pulled pork egg rolls as an appetizer and OMG we were blown away!! And not going to lie absolutely full after that. I had the fish & chips and my wife had the filet medallions with their gravy rice!! Everything was cooked as ordered and to perfection! The portions were large and easily shareable. Also, not to mention, kids eat free with purchase during the week. Molly, this is your shoutout from the #TranClan!! You was absolutely amazing! I'm a huge stickler on pre-busing Bc we have a 2yo and as parents know, they will grab everything within arms reach and do Lord knows what. I wanted to like this, but it's just not good. It's like the menu was well designed but it's being executed by someone who doesn't have even basic cooking skills. We ordered and no exaggeration, it came out within 5 minutes. It was clear the chicken was all precooked then warmed up. Pasta sauces were runny. Chicken was rubbery. Seared chicken was rock hard on the edges and half was inedible Crab tower was ok. Outdoor area is nice for sure! read more

I'll start by saying the waiter was great. The music was great. The crab tower was good but definitely overpriced. I am very disappointed in this place. We had came here for dinner because the pictures looked amazing on the website and we have heard good things about the other locations. My husband and I ordered the spinach dip as appetizer and the fillet medallions. They were AWFUL! We ended up sending the spinach dip back because there was no cheese and only maybe 3 small slices of artichokes in it. It tasted like we were just eating warm spinach on a chip. We ended up getting the crab tower instead. That was good and looked like what I was expecting. The fillet medallions were not seasoned at all the the "blackberry port reduction" smelled like a dumpster. there were no blackberries on the plate it looked nothing like you see on their website or their Instagram page. the risotto had no mushrooms or anything in it just rice with cheese. I wish I would have taken a picture to post how disappointing it really is! $55 for one appetizer, one entree and a side of fries for my son I expect something better. Waste of a date night.
