This is my 3rd time trying Union Kitchen and our first time at this location. We enjoyed the calamari appetizer though the portion was on the smaller side for the price. The chicken scaloppine was tasty and I opted for Brussels sprouts instead of pasta. The kids chicken tenders and fries were the same tasty tenders as the chicken and waffles, which were also enjoyed. The pizzas are always fantastic and the final entrees were the blackened tacos which both people enjoyed as well. The service was excellent and the overall experience was good. Came to celebrate my aunts birthday. Restaurant was clean and fairly busy even on a rainy day. The California Benedict was a great combination with good portion of each of the ingredients. I liked it enough to want it again. The server had her moments of great vs wondering where items were. I really decent though. This location seems fairly new based on the cleanliness. It's very spacious with nice natural light during the day. I came for brunch with my family and got the Union Bowl. This was a surprisingly great dining experience! I say surprisingly only because I didn't have much of an expectation and had chosen to dine at other restaurants instead of this one in the past. I will not make that mistake again! I came here for brunch with family and even though we came right before they stopped serving brunch, we were still able to order from the brunch menu and everything came out fantastic! I had the union breakfast which was tasty and filling. It also came with one pancake which at first I was hesitant if it would be sufficient, but their pancakes are big! Both our server and the manager came by to check on us multiple times which was helpful. The restaurant seems to be in a relatively newer shopping center in Katy and looks really nice, both inside and outdoors. They have a bar and also a private dinning room for events. I definitely recommend visiting and I myself will be back for brunch again and also to try their dinner menu! read more

Went to brunch with my aunt and sister. We arrived at 1030am on a Sunday. Plenty of seating. By 1130, they were a little busier but still lots of seating. It looked like they were setting up for an event in the back room. We ordered cafe lattes, orange juice. I had bananas foster French toast. It was delicious and I finished my plate. I added eggs and bacon on the side for some protein. My sister got the Cali Beni which she liked. It came with potatoes. Wife and I visited today for lunch. The restaurant has great ascetics and our waitress was great. I would like to add, Our waitress was 5 star. I had the hamburger bowl with an over easy egg. The egg was cooked perfect however, I ordered the patty medium and received very cooked medium well. There was very little cheese and no bacon bits could be found. Overall the hamburger bowl was good but, not worth the price. My wife had the Katie-Mae's Pizza. The pizza was definitely 4 meat and had a great presentation. But once you grabbed a slice, it went down hill from there. The crust both on sides and bottom was like a soft wet piece of bread. My wife ate the toppings off most of the pizza and a select few slices were worth eating the whole slice. read more

Came in a Monday night to grab a nice meal and a glass of wine. I really enjoy how easy it is to get a table on the week nights and enjoy the selection of wine. Went here for Mother's Day and have a great time. We had a reservation and was seated very quickly. I loved that our reservation was honored as most restaurants will still have you wait. We also had a few other servers assist when needed. Loved that they tagged teamed the tables. Now The food review....... I had Garlic Shrimp Scampi....... Hated it. Lacked flavor. I had to add salt and pepper and even red pepper flakes to jazz it up... but it didn't help. I was just bland. The shrimp were juicy but the entire dish lacked flavor. Fantastic evening out celebrating my Mom's leap year birthday!  Our server Joe picked up on us there to celebrate and was so sweet to my Mom!  Without us even having to ask, Joe handed us the happy hour menus so we could get in an order of appetizers before 6:30!  Everything ordered was so good!  Highly recommend the Bang Bang Shrimp and Spinach Dip.  To top it off, Joe brought out a sweet treat for my Mom with a candle and even did a little jig for her!  She was beyond thrilled!  Fantastic food, service and ambiance!  Can't beat that! read more

I've been waiting to try this place for a while. We were sat as soon as we walked in. Waited for 15 minutes and were never approached by a server. We ended up leaving to the ramen place across the way. The hostess was super sweet and apologetic. Will be back to try again another time. First visit today Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by the friendliness person. Our drink orders were taken immediately and a few minutes late we placed our meal order. We sat on the patio and it was an active place. A two piece band played classic tock songs while kids played in adjacent park, gave it a cafe feel, which we loved. We both gad the chicken fried chicken. Very tasty, gravy had an unknown spice that made it sing. I don't consider myself a demanding customer but I do know what I like and what I don't. This is my first time at this location so I was looking forward to a new experience. I was great when I walked in. I might have been having a Goldie Locks moment... I am height challenged and she tried to seat me at one of those high tables. I asked for a regular table and then she sat me under the Arctic blast. (Now don't get me wrong, I luv some A/C on a hot day but it was really cold and blowing pretty hard). I asked to move and she said, "Where would you like to sit?", then I am guessing the manager stepped in and told her to seat me in the main dining area. Once seated the wait person took my drink order as I waiting for my dining companions. When they arrived, we looked over the menu and ordered our food. I had the burger which I have ordered at other Union Kitchens. For some reason this burger did not live up to the memories. It was cooked ok but it was meh... I don't know what else to say. I was pleasantly surprised. I had been to another location years ago and had a bad experience so I never wanted to give this place a try but it was absolutely delicious. We tried a variety of appetizers that were all amazing. The lobster grilled cheese had lots of lobster in it. The carnitas eggrollls were awesome. The drinks were also well done. Took a while to get refills, to get sauces, to order anything and it wasn't even packed. Lobster omelette 5/5 Tasty. Little chunks of lobster but plentiful. Chicken and waffles 5/5 Chicken was a nice crunch. The waffles were soft and crispy. The gravy was A+. Cranberry mimosa 3/5 The flavor wasn't as sweet as I was hoping. It was alright. More for the strong drinker type. Orange mimosa 4/5 Orange wasn't that prominent. Flavor was more sweet than the cranberry one. Overall it's okay. I was looking for a cute brunch spot in Katy, and I found one! Union Kitchen was open, spacious, and neatly decorated for the holidays- they even had holiday event plans with menus! There was a Bloody Mary "bar," but I wasn't sure if it was self-serve, decor, or for staff only lol. I ordered the captains chicken biscuit which was such a fun and elevated brunch dish. The chicken was fried in captain crunch cereal giving it a bit of a sweet edge and it was placed on top of the best breakfast bread ever- BISCUITS! I also ordered the hash hangover burger. I loved the hash cake. I did, however find the description of onion strings misleading as there were whole onion rings in the burger. I prefer thinner and crispier onions over onion rings, but that's just me. Our waitress was extremely friendly. I'm a picky drinker, and when I told her I found my holiday drink too strong, she immediately whipped up a whole cup of cream and gave it to me to add to my drink! This is my third review and I do so bc I want places I like to stay open and continue the quality that brings people back. Most stars to the three staffers that took care of us: hostess, server and I believe manager. The food and drinks came out on time, they were all very courteous and apologetic for the mess of a dish I got. One star to the wine list. Very limited by the glass. I only ever got cocktails before, I should have stuck to that. to my dish Portobello Chicken came with a dry chicken breast, smothered with an unintelligible sauce with 6 mushroom slices, about a half a pound of charred Brussels sprouts and a sad extremely over salted "risotto" (pictured). As I said, staff was understanding, friendly and apologetic and brought a free dessert as an apology. I declined a new side as offered bc I didn't want to have them make more food that I may not finish. My husband and oldest shared a pasta dish, which they liked ok and my other son ate half a huge kids sized pizza which was also ok. I really hope they can get a grip on taking pride in every dish bc we love the environment outside but we may just have to try some of the other places in the plaza. read more

I found the restaurant on the Texas Wine Lover app. Thank you for carrying Texas wine! Not only did our waiter know which wine we wanted,but he had actually tasted it before. That is very rare in my experience with many restaurants. I wish I could remember his name. But I am including the picture we took. The manager on duty could not have been nicer. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but not too intrusive. The food was terrific. We really had a nice time. I will be recommending your location to everyone. My brother in law just moved to this area and he was happy to have found such a nice place. He did not think there were many restaurants around. We ordered for Valentine's Day on the pre fixe menu to go. (Hubby is an emergency medicine physician and we respect the pandemic immensely. ) The pre fixe menu had some nice options. And we appreciated that we could get a nice dinner today. The ravioli was yum. The snapper was AMAZING! Amazing! Yummy Brussels sprouts too. And that chocolate cake...beyond! So so good. Very good. I experienced this Katy location. The restaurant is so clean and beautifully decorated for the holidays. I was greeted upon entry from the patio area. I redeemed my coupon for a pastry. The server Jessica was very friendly. Our small convo about the restaurant was very insightful. My beignets arrived to my table, smelling delightfully delicious and looked like the desserts you see on tv. The inside of the pastry was warm and fluffy. We have enjoyed many Union kitchen meals, but not the one in Katie so we decided to try it after a baseball game at Tompkins. The decor was OK. It was open not a lot of privacy and kind of noisy. We ordered the fish and chips and it was really mediocre. The fish was soggy inside although the batter was crispy and the chips were nothing but french fries , the tartar sauce and red sauce again was mediocre. The burgers that was good, but again pretty standard. The high spot where the voodoo balls they were excellent and the sauce was over the top. My only complaint was when I asked the waiter what was in the purple haze he failed to mention jalapeño it was not on the brunch menu so I was not aware but the general manager saw I was not drinking it and came over and offered another option. She was very attentive and informative honestly a great manager! She made my lemon drop personally and delivered it to my table.
