Trying to treat myself to lunch and stumble upon this restaurant with decent google review. I was anticipating a sandwich lunch menu but I was only offered the dinner menu, which is fine. The wait staff was very nice and friendly , it was pretty empty during lunch on the Tuesday before thanksgiving. Also understandable. I was deciding between a sea bass dish, tenderloin risotto and something else and decided on the risotto- well it came out with 4 1-inch cube meat. There was certainly a lot of rice but I didn't feel that I was served $27 worth of food. There was no indication that this was a lunch portion as the menu specifically labeled this under dinner. I wondered why this place stated BYOB on their website. Now I know. They do not serve alcohol. I was prepared for this, but my friend was not. We met for what we thought would be dinner earlier this week. I brought a small Bota Box of wine. We were finally greeted about 20 minutes after being seated. The person who sat us was the same person to come back and ask if we wanted wanted water or food. The problem with this was her English was very poor. We sat for a minute to figure out if we wanted to stay. My friend ran to the store to get a bottle of wine for herself and we figured we would settle in there for the night. I saw 3 people who worked there that night. The same 3 people were exceptionally busy, very little English, and I honestly felt bad for them. We drank our wine and thought about the meal, but at this point it was already 7:50 PM and we were told they closed at 8:00 PM. I was very confused because a couple walked in right after we were told they were closing and that couple was seated and started their ordering process. I think it all adds up to a communication issue due to language barrier, but it's going to be tough to go back after such a strange night of confusion. The decor is nice and it seems like it has potential, but they need to get that liquor license stat! A little tip: There is one bathroom downstairs. The hallway to the bathroom is very dark. The light switch inside the women's one person bathroom is upside down. I was a little out of sorts with how dark it was and then I had trouble turning on the light. Thought I would mention it to help others. One good thing, they do have nice toilet paper. I'm really trying to give this place some credit! After receiving a comment on my review from the owner, I have a couple of updates to address. We were not there to take advantage of a free drinking venue. My friend and I enjoy trying new restaurants, and this was on our list. The first turn off was not being able to get answers about the menu from our waitress. I understand there was an English barrier, but I don't understand how someone can be an order taker without having the ability to communicate the menu. We were offered three different times to eat, but in between those times we were told the restaurant was closing and due to the first issue, I wasn't sure what to eat. Lastly, I am a great tipper and my friend is an exceptional tipper. I almost always do 20% and my friend is more of a 25% tipper. I wasn't sure how to tip when there wasn't much service. Neither one of us had cash on us, and we discussed that fact, so if we would've had a bill that came after our MEAL, there would've definitely been a tip. Appreciating the time I took to write the review, does not warrant everything we experienced at your restaurant. Not only was I excited to try any new restaurant, but it is also conveniently located to my home. I was hopeful this was going to be a new place to try multiple times. I am happy to give it another try now that I know what I know, and I'll even update my review accordingly. Please have your staff available to answer questions. How do you expect your customers to communicate if the staff can't communicate with the customers? read more

Great food, beautiful restaurant, and good service. The restaurant is 100% BYOB as of now which is a great option to have in Houston. No overpriced drinks here! Bring your own drinks and enjoy. Parking is plentiful, and the food is absolutely delicious. I got to thank the chef when he came out when everyone's food was served and he was a delight. One of my favorite restaurants in Houston! I've been here a bunch but I've only ever had the Martinez Rice and the Seafood Paella because they're so good and it's hard to switch it up. Every meal I've tasted that my wife ordered has been excellent too. read more

Me and my mother went in here, wanting some muscles. We saw a video on TikTok and asked for a special request and they made it perfectly. These people will literally make you whatever you want however, you want it. The prices are very reasonable. This was a delivery via Uber Eats. I've eaten at Norah's many times and absolutely ADORE the restaurant. However, my order through Uber Eats​ was not good. Bread was burnt, extra shrimp burnt on edges, carpachio was oily and I prefer to leave it at that. Because I really like this restaurant and this feedback is for constructive purposes only, not to criticize the restaurant. I truly believe this is a one off. Rodrigo was an excellent helper and host at Norah's. We were recommended by a local couple who is friends with us, and we are grateful for it. If you are Venezuelan and miss Venezuelan-style paellas, you MUST come to try Paella Norah's in this restaurant. It is DELICIOUS, and the first bite brought me home. Full of shrimp, mussels, calamari, chicken, and just the right amount of chorizo. They also bring olive oil and sherry wine (jerez), the missing touch in all the other paella places in California and the Houston area. We tried the Camarones Lucila, and they were cooked to perfection. Their sauce is out of this world, and you will want to put it on everything else you have for the rest of your life. We are already planning our next visit to Norah's restaurant for the upcoming trip we will make here. P.S. Their chicken nuggets are made from scratch, not frozen, highly processed ones, just fresh chicken breast diced, breaded, and fried to perfection. read more

Overall SERVICE NEEDS HELP! Food was delicious. Would I come back? Maybe. We used to go to Essentials Kitchen in Fulshear also run by Chef Martinez. Food was always wonderful. He closed that down we finally had a chance to try his new place Norah's. We knew the food would be delicious. There were 4 of us and we had empanadas and ceviche for appetizer, then ordered pasta trio and one paella to share. Negative: The staff needs to be a bit more upbeat and act like they want to be there and actually do serve. Our waitress had zero personality, never introduced herself, we could barely hear her due to being very soft spoken, she wore AIRPODS and any time we asked her for something she seemed to be bothered. Her tip dropped as things happened. Also the waitress barely spoke English which made it even more difficult to understand, but two of us spoke Spanish which made ordering food easier. The Chef and the food are awesome, the service on the other hand....I made reservations for 8pm for a live music show, got there at 8 told the we had a reservation, they wanted to seat us in a different floor than the live music. I told them I had made a reservation for the live music area, they told us to wait and then move us into the area. Ok good we are past that, I said in my head, we order the food, 1:45 minutes in still no food, when the food finally arrived, it was half of what we ordered. Never got fully what we ordered, I wanted to like the place but was let down. So go there when you are not hungry, by the time the food arrives you will be hungry. read more

I like the menu. It's a pretty place and I have no qualms about byob. But forewarning: they don't have a bar. We had a reservation for 7 @ 6:30 on a Thursday.Noticed upstairs where we sat, there was a couple as well as a party of about 7. There was also a large table set for about 14. With all of this, we didn't have a fast enough waiter to have taken our order before the crowd of 14 came in and unfortunately, they got to order before we did. That was hard since they came in at 7. There were only 2 on the waitstaff and they had to go up and down steps to serve us. Meaning, water, just about anything was a trip downstairs. Where I am going with this review is, be prepared to wait like you wait in European restaurants. We ended up getting our check at 9:30 which was a bit late. Yes, food was excellent and it was a nice long visit w our group. I'm happy the owner had a large group in there also to help in this economy. My tip to the waitstaff is, don't leave a table of seated women without asking if anyone else wants something. Don't make us flag you down when we thought you would ask us also if we would like something. The restaurant could have a small side table upstairs to supply glasses for customers byob and ice water and such for easier access. Norah's is worth going to if you have patience. read more

Very poor service. We sat for a good 20 minutes before waiter came. Of our four dishes other than the empanadas and lasagne bolognese the food was lacking in taste, no side salads served with the entree, vegetables undercooked, cioppino was lacking in seafood, garlic cloves were raw in cooked dishes. Actually sent a dish back which is rare for me. Great Spanish guitar music but the place lacks atmosphere. read more

Today was my first visit, unfortunately I was not impressed. I placed an order to go, carpaccio and 2 empanadas. The carpaccio was very chewy and wouldn't break down to even swallow it. I thought the color was off, very dark. Possibly not fresh. I eat this often (Perry's has a great one) It happens to all restaurants, as I was an accountant for 18 years in the restaurant industry. I was really hoping this would be my to go place for carpaccio as it is close to my home and the owner Luis and server Ricardo were very pleasant. Went Friday night and it was very good food. Service was great. Small place where you can actually have a conversation. BYOB. If you've never been in the space before, the main dining area is upstairs, so it can look empty from the street level. Even if you think you don't like kale, try the kale Caesar salad. Great new upscale Venezuelan restaurant on the west side. Awesome paella! Olive oil lemon cake was super moist.

The seating hostess showed us to our table and gave us menus. After 30 minutes and no one to take our order, we got up and left.
