Checked thetrap out. This what I observed. Plenty of parking. Entry was clean and inviting. Girl at door was polite and well dressed. Bartender was attentive and friendly. My drink was served right away. Menu and utensils. Presented in a timely manner. Ordered burger and sweet fries. Took 15 minutes pretty good time. Burger was perfect. Sweet fries nice and delicious. Linve music was not too loud and professional. Checkout was in a timely manner. All this happened a a low volume of customer's. Al in all it was good. Not Shure about how it will be like on a busy night but had to check the pub for cleanliness without a lot of people around. Floors clean. Bathroom clean. Outdoor patio nice. Bar area's spotless. Went here on a Friday night for drinks and got some appetizers too. I was very pleased to see they had a Lenten menu as well (it was a Friday- no meat)!!! I got the flash dance drink (coffee and vodka). We also got the the fried mozzarella- it looked really good but it wasn't flavorful at all. When we bit into it, it squirted out with water and got everywhere. The marinara sauce didn't help the flavor either. We also got the crispy Brussels which were really good! Stopped by the Trap for the first time the other day and overall I wasn't mad at it. The parking lot is tight, especially when busy. But the restaurant itself was spacious and decorated nicely. We were sat in a dining area off to the front that did get a little noisy. Our waitress was friendly but not overly personable. However, she did get the job done. Another waiter brought over an extra chair that the party in the table in front of us didn't need so he left it right in front of my party so we couldn't get out. A little weird but not the end of the world. For dinner we started with the fried pickles. They were nice and crispy and portion was pretty generous for $10. We could have used more of the sauce though. My main meal was the chicken parm sandwich with tater tots. The sandwich I felt was a little small for the price tag. Chicken was cut into strips with some funky pieces and not overly crispy. Tater tots were an extra $2 but the container they came in wasn't an impressive size either. So, why three stars? The Trap isn't a bad restaurant but I felt that the price didn't justify average food. I think I'd come back again to try something else in the future though. read more

Out to dinner with a good friend that I have not seen in minute. We went to The Trap North and sat at the bar. The food was delicious. I had the Bacon, Bourbon & Bleu burger and it was so good! The sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly! My friend had the Milanese, she gets it every time she goes there so I guess it's good! Went for brunch and the place was hopping! Didn't need a reservation and there were tables both inside and outside. We had a French dip and the ranch salad. The French dip was large and had extra crispy fries. The salad was good but needed more toppings on it-80% lettuce. Our server was attentive and we would go back. read more

This was our first time here, the parking lot is always full so that's a good sign. Even though the place was mostly full it was nice to not be "loud" like a bar. The seats are comfortable, and the lighting is nice and subtle. We happened to be here Monday and saw an all you can eat pasta Monday deal on the table. I had to go for it. They made the pasta to order so it takes a little bit longer than other dishes but that ended up being a much needed breather for my stomach between plates. Still I was only able to eat 1 1/2 plates haha. The gnocchi looked hand rolled and cut. The pieces were really big, but they tasted pretty good. They paired really nicely with the bolognese sauce. The grilled chicken was very bland, I skipped it on the second plate. Wait staff was friendly and knew the menu well. I'll be back to try the wings when I have a bigger appetite! read more

I love it here! The love the casual ambience, the decor is rustic and the vibe is fun! I'm a huge live music fan....so the fact they have it starting on Wednesdays is a huge plus! It's a bit more low key on the weekdays, but Saturday turns a bit into a nightclub/dance spot! I've yet to be here on a Friday so not sure if it's the same as Saturday! I think the food is good! And we've always had attentive service! Well....except occasionally at the bar it's tough to get a drink if you're not a regular. If you're a fan of live music, live in this area and haven't been here - you need to get here this week! read more

Suggested by my son. We tried it out and, oh boy, this was great. It was an app night. So, shishitos, pretzel, and bao. All three were amazing. The gal serving us was informative and attentive without being overbearing. It's a sports bar with a stage. So, if that's your thing, this is a great place ambiance-wise. I think for two of us for food and drinks and tip, we spent about $80. And got every penny's worth. Great place. Give it a shot. read more

What a beautiful renovation! I had tried to dine here a couple weeks ago but wait was long so we chose somewhere else. The second time trying we were lucky enough to get a table for three at dinner time. Our waitress was very nice and personable but I believe still fairly new to the trade. I ordered the paccheri dish which is a Bolognese dish and she asked if I wanted to add a protein, my reply being "I'm really hoping there's protein in the Bolognese sauce which traditionally has ground beef, pork and/or veal" in which she stood there with a blank expression on her face. My husband ordered the prime rib, market price was $40. It was flavorful as was the au jus. The pizza was very well made and plenty of hot peppers. I wish they offered bottomless mimosas for bunch which would deter me from going to Providence. I can understand how that might not be such a good idea given the fact that people have managed to lose their ability to drive in Smithfield. Terrific atmosphere and fun shareable dishes. The seating and ambiance are modern and comfortable and the waitstaff is friendly and attentive. We dined as a party of 7, so we tried many of the plates. The star of the show was definitely the s'mores. They bring out a fire to roast your dessert on skewers. Many of the options are battered and fried, but you can order healthier options like soup and salad. We ordered the bang bang shrimp- spicy and tasty. It also came with battered and fried green beans or snow peas. The cauliflower was battered and fried also. Served with a spicy sauce and blue cheese crumbles. We would like a little more sauce and cheese. The nachos were delicious and huge- lots of guacamole, beans, meat, sour cream and cheese. We ran out of chips and the waitstaff quickly brought us more chips when we asked. We got the wings- sugar and spice- they were really good, hot and perfectly seasoned. We ordered the bao buns, and we liked the meat a lot, but I think we would prefer it in a different bun. Nobody at our table had that before so it was nice to try something new. There was so much food that we decided to share some dinner plates- steak and frites, steak salad, fish and chips and chicken parm. The salad was the best, refreshing after all of the fried food as appetizers. The chicken parm came with really thick noodles, so that was a bit different for us- very heavy but chicken was tasty and seasoned well. Fish and chips were perfectly fried and seasoned. Steak and frites were 6 oz steak and parm truffle fries. They were a little soggy from the steak, but flavor was good. Dessert- waffle banana bread pudding was flavorful and mushy, but bread pudding is like that. It was served with cinnamon ice cream. My dad loved it. We also had the skillet cookie, which was crispy and hot- perfectly cooked with ice cream. And of course, the s'mores came out with enough for all of us to share. Highly recommend the wings, steak salad, cookie skillet and the s'mores, we will get those when we come back and try some more options that look good. We won't order as much of the fried foods, but may need to order the fish and chips and bang bang shrimp since they were such a hit. They're really friendly, so if you need more sauce, chips, whatever, just ask. They'll bring it right away. read more

If I could give our experience zero stars I would. We have been here before and have had no problem. Today the drinks were amazing, but that is it. $92 check and we saw our waitress maybe twice. She ended up walking away while my husband was still ordering. Very odd behavior. I swear she was either seeing things or on drugs. I was asking for salt, set-ups, ketchup, and our check from every other server. Thankful for those staff. I'm in the service industry myself, so I left her an 11% tip. Too much in my opinion. We enjoyed some.classic bar food and attentive service. It is VERY LOUD in this venue. If you visit during nice weather, enjoy the outdoor deck and bar, if you can. There is a huge selection of food offerings. I am puzzled as to why the female staff has to wear skimpy shirts while the male staff gets to wear full t-shirts? There was live music but very difficult to hear the guy due to the noise. If you are headed out with friends to kick off your Friday night, this would be a great spot for happy hour. read more

Shitty service. My friend and I came for brunch and it took 40 minutes for our drinks to come out. Our server didn't even bring them to us we had to ask the bartender. Our food was served to us 15 minutes after and my egg was not completely cooked and my fries were cold. After another 20 minutes of waiting for our server I told her and she took the plate and took it off the bill. She told the manager and he did not even come over to address everything. I had quite a comical experience today at the trap and I will start with the positives. It has a good atmosphere, service is well, and drinks are good. In reality I will probably come back at some point but I will now be a Karen. To start, a couple who had come in after my partner and I with no reservation and was sat before us. We were sat soon after so I wasn't that annoyed. Secondly, I went to the bathroom and slid off the toilet seat because the seat was broken and/or not screwed in completely. Third, we ordered nachos with no olives and they arrived at the table with said olives and burnt to a crisp. The cheese was completely stuck to the bottom... overall very mid and wouldn't recommend. However my partner will eat anything so we just picked off the olives and did not send back. The classic hamburger (americano) was really good but the French fries tasted like McDonald's fries left out on the counter for an hour. My partner had the short rib mac n cheese. The short rib itself was genuinely 10/10 no critics there. The pasta however was a weird choice I've never seen them before and the mac n cheese itself was not very cheesy or that tasty to be fully transparent. Looking forward to trying more items on the menu. East Greenwich location is superior. Also I downloaded this app solely to write this review. I did not know I could include pictures. Went to brunch here with a friend on a Saturday afternoon. It was not too busy so we got right in. The service was a little slow, I think it took 10-15 minutes until I got my drink. (Pink lemonade) but the food I got avocado toast and sweet potato fries. Usually you only get one piece of toast but here you got two. I was stuffed after. The food tasted fresh and so good. The restaurant wasn't too loud so talking was easy and no need to yell. Only reason I'm giving 4/5 stars is due to slow service. Otherwise a place I would definitely recommend. read more

A colleague recommended this great little spot to grab dinner. Great ambience, lightly decorated for the winter holiday season, chill music in the background, and a very happy local crowd. I started with a drink called the Walk on the Wild Side, warming up from the inside with the spiced pear liqueur. Then I ordered the most amazing roasted Brussel sprouts drizzled with goat cheese & honey (yum!). And ended with the Pear & Quinoa bowl topped with a fresh grilled chicken breast. So delicious! The portion sizes are quite large - good for sharing or lunch leftovers. And my server Becca was super friendly, informative & attentive. I was even able to watch the Monday night football game! I used to go to the Trap in EG when I lived there and absolutely loved it. I was excited to see that there would be a second location in Smithfield which is closer to me! The restaurant itself is in a great spot, the patio outdoors has the best view. I've been here a few times now and service was always quick, and waitresses were helpful. Food is just ok - the EG location definitely has better food. I've had the boneless tenders, steak frites, nachos, and pizza. Pizza was definitely the best out of all that I've tried! The Trap formally the kountry kitchen now open in Smithfield. My first impression, an upscale Thirsty Beaver with a twist. Great bar atmosphere. Good selection on tap for beers. They did a great job with the place. Really liked the bar out back by the pond. Downstairs has a another private bar and dining area. I'm surprised they don't open down stairs. Really nice job on the design. The food was coming out of the kitchen average 15 minute return. The Bang Bang Shrimp was awesome. The burgers and fries fresh as well as the salads. I have no complaints. The two bartenders on Saturday brunch were very professional and friendly and the drinks were awesome. Me and my buddy drank mules all afternoon and night! Awesome time. Remember they just opened so the systems in place will pay off. Definitely be my new hangout So all you yelpers get down their and stop by! At first sight, this place gives you the vibe of "I'm in for some good food". The remodeling and engineering work that went into this building from what it was is outstanding! However, the food was your classic overpriced run of the mill bar food. They definitely need to step up their game with the quality of food and how it's cooked. It's a one and done for me wanting to dine there again. The service was rather poor, there was multiple waiters serving the same table, things requested such as ketchup or vinegar were never provided. You had to wave down or ask another server (who were already overwhelmed). Ive heard they turn the place into a 21+ mini night club on Friday and Saturday nights providing bouncers and live music bands. Overall I give 3 stars, mainly for the building itself. read more

Not only did I enjoy an amazing live band- a regular rotation of local and well known bands are playing every weekend, but I had incredible food. The menu was diverse and truly left nothing to be desired. Everything was perfect. Our waitress was personable and timely. Her name was Rebecca. The Trap North passed my restaurant test! I judge a restaurant's front of house hospitality by the service being given to the tables around me. The wait staff was energetic, communicative and exhibited all attributes of a well oiled machine. After I was done with my meal, I moved to the main bar where I was happily welcomed by Khirah. (If you've never met an actual angel, search this girl out) I wasn't able to find a seat at the bar at first but she made sure to tell the rest of the staff that I was looking. On Friday, 28 March, I was having dinner with family a table connected to another family, a father and two young sons. The dad brought his two boys to the bathroom and and at that time the bus boy came over to clear the table. I told the bus boy that they were in the bathroom. Two minutes later another busboy came over and cleared the table. the father came back with the two sons, all three meals was removed from the table. I explained to him that we told staff he was in the bathroom after speaking to his waiter. Management said that they were going to comp the dad for his meal. I actually asked the dad, they did not comp him for the three meals. What they did was give them a pizza and dessert. This was so wrong! we decided to talk to the manager and told him that they were completely wrong with not comping him his dinner after throwing it away. It was no way the fathers fault and they through away the food. So disappointed how management handled this after their staff threw out the meals! Will never return. read more

We have been 3x now since they opened this location, while I completely understand the service side takes time to get people and staff on the same page... the food is just ehhh... nothing stands out, most dishes are bland and 2 of our friends did not feel well after their meals. Starting with the good. The renovations are great. So the place looks great. The beer selection isn't bad. Too many IPAd for my personal taste but that's sort of the reality these days. Now the rest. Service. I stepped in for lunch. Stood behind one person at the front desk. A guy walked up asked him if he was being helped he said he was all set and stepped aside. This gentleman then proceeded to ignore me entirely and go about busy work including walking right past me. The next staff member walked up asked the same guy if he was. All set. Then looked around and asked "does anyone need to be seated". Yeah ME. I waited on the other person in my party to join me. We ordered an app and two sandwiches. The app (a pretzel) took forever. This is lunch time and they weren't busy. And when it did get to us it was clearly way over cooked and super crunchy. And not soft on the inside at all. Then the sandwiches took forever too. Almost like they didn't fire them until after we were "done" with the app. That's not how lunch should go. They never asked how the burger should be cooked it just came out well done (which was fine for my sister as that what's she prefers. But at least ask?!). And the website has a BOGO offer for burgers which was never spoken or offered. I had ordered the French dip. Which should be a properly medium or even medium rare prime rib. This was more like griddled well done crispy deli roast beef. It was definitely cooked in some sort of sauce. Which is NOT how a French dip should be done. The dipping gravy was overly salty and not pleasant at all. The food was atrocious. Learn how to cook...I don't know...ANYTHING? I like to give places a second chance. So eventually I'll give it a second go. But how the hell can it get better when it was this bad during a non busy lunch day. read more

Fantastic experience at the new Trap! Food and cocktails were amazing. The waitstaff was attentive, swift, and Chris is more than likely to become one of our new favorite bartenders in the area. We will definitely be recommending this place to friends and family. I would certainly say the patio is kid friendly, and the vibe overall was perfect for family dinner, date night, or even just drinks late night to hang. 10/ 10 in our book! read more

Ok. So have waited 21 years for a fun restaurant with an excellent menu in Greenville/Smithfield. Beautiful place, can't even tell it use to be Kountry Kitchen. So, 1st week there are definitely going to be service issues as they are working out the kinks. However, the owner is present, busing tables and trying to talk to every table. The manager David is fantastic as well. This place is going to be the most popular place in town. The only thing is they need to nail down the "Open-table" waitlist. But other than that food is awesome. read more

When waking in a man told us they are serving food but haven't paid their contractors yet... who knows but it it left a bad taste in my mouth. Have been here a few times. Never get silverware at the bar, my wife and I now laugh and waiting to get a drink is awhile. No one has been rude to us. The service was just awful, although the food was ok. The restaurant was not even half full when we got there, there were plenty of waitresses at the time. For some reason, the waitress we had took a long time to take our orders since we got there all the way through ordering drinks, appetizers and main dishes. We had a party of five, she only gave us two table settings and we had to ask for more, but she still didn't realize my kid doesn't have utensils. I didn't even bother to ask for one more setting since my son doesn't mind using his finger for his kid meal. Btw, no water offer for the entire meal for any of us, she didn't even ask. Then when we finished the meal, we waited over 10 mins and still didn't see her come checking on us. Then my husband found her chatting with other waitresses at the reception area, we all stared at them for at least 5 mins to get her attention. Apparently, none of the waitresses were paying attention to customers. So my husband had to walk up to them to give her his credit card for the payment. He didn't even bother looking at the bill since it will take additional time and we were very much annoyed by that point. Then, we asked for three boxes for the left over food, she only brought boxes without a bag to pack everything together. When we walked out, we had to ask the receptionist to give us a couple of bags. Anyway, it was a terrible experience we had there tonight. The service was way better when we visited there first time when they just opened this new location. I think we saw the owner was there at the time which probably made a big difference. The waitresses were young and pretty, but that won't be a plus unless they offer a decent service. It's just sad to see more and more workers have poor work ethics nowadays. We wanted to really like this restaurant. It is relatively new to Smithfield RI.The renovations were awesome.Very comfortable and wait staff was very accommodating. We arrived early for our party so we had a drink at the bar.The bartender was pleasant and attentive. When our party arrived we decided to sit out on the beautiful patio. The problem was the food. It was mediocre at best and the rest of the party agreed that the meals were "Alright". Being new to the area I am hoping it is growing pains. We will probably try again but, we will wait to see how time helps this new restaurant. One other issue we had involved accessibility exiting the restaurant. One person in our party was in a wheelchair and required the ramp. The door to the ramp is accessed by a narrow corridor and the corridor has tables. One of the tables near the exit door was occupied by a six person party. Half the table was encroaching the access door so half the table reluctantly had to get get up to allow the wheelchair to exit the restaurant. Perhaps access to the wheelchair ramp from the patio would be helpful and not seating patrons so close to the exit door would also be appreciated. Like I said it is a new restaurant with some unforeseen issues. I wish them luck! read more

The menu was disappointing and lack luster. Not sure where they are going with the choices. Items were pricy for what you get. Service was good and the interior was nice. The restaurant was full of flies on you and your food all through the meal it was super annoying coming in from the deck area. SUPER ANNOYING!!! Will not be going back. Food was fantastic. My wife had the honey hot wings that she said were the best she's ever had and we've eaten a lot of wings. I had a tuna bowl salad with multiple ingredients, all of which are some of my favorites. It was delicious. Server was very friendly and attentive. The makeover was incredible. What a difference! I was used to going to the previous restaurant for bacon and eggs and, while I really miss that, I look forward to going back to the TRAP to try some of their other offerings.
