Don't understand the allure of this place at all - I say this as an adult with no kids- I noticed adults with kids here were happier than the rest because there was a place their kids could play, pet animals, eat and get ice cream while they can drink in peace. Been told about this legendary bbq for years and missed it every summer till now. Craving bbq and no, certainly not BTs I dragged my partner here for the dog friendly factor and it's a nice excuse to get out on a Saturday warm evening. First off - I recommend going early because at 5:30 they were out of most of the dishes and some of the drafts. We love enjoying cider and seltzers and I'm more of the beer enthusiast so I was looking for something nice to take home in a growler. Lots of parking, easy to access the store and kitchen area with dogs. He got a pulled pork sandwich and I got the half chicken dinner - he got maple bacon cheddar cornbread and fries and I opted for fries and coleslaw. When I say this was the most underwhelming and crazy false advertising I mean that wholeheartedly- what was to be a half chicken was the TINIEST thigh and drum ... I really think it was a Cornish hen... pasture raised or not that was an insulting portion of protein for $17 , coleslaw was utterly tasteless - I mean not just no seasoning but like even cabbage has a taste .. which was also missing - try to enjoy a pile of stringy fiber and I guarantee it will be better and at least colder. His sandwich looked great but he reported the bun was cold and hard like right out of the fridge and going stale. That wonderful sounding cornbread? No bacon, zero maple flavor and a thin layer of unmelted cheese in the middle. Also served ice cold. Asked for types of bbq sauce and was directed to the only one- Heinz honey bbq in a pump with the ketchup and mustard... not a dealbreaker but how on earth do you serve bbq with only one kind of BOTTLED sauce ?! Not for the $ they ask is wild. I could handle all that ... call it an off night or give excuses as to why things were served so poorly but my experience in the barn to get drinks was enough to make me never come back. Immediately after ordering food, I went in there to find a very short line to order beer and I reviewed the menu on the mirror- my sight isn't amazing so I waited to ask the beer tender if they had any cider at all - REally not sure what I did to this woman .. but when there was no one else in line I walked up to the counter (maybe I should have waited to be called?! ) and asked about cider and was given the RUDEST most condescending attitude- " um no that's more of a fall thing you know like with the apples and stuff?!" I was like shocked at how rude she was and the other 2 staff members laughed - idk I think I interrupted their conversation and she was just snapping at me for no reason - I'm so not a snowflake and no offended by anything - but actually have worked in customer service , retail and restaurants for 25 years and this was just downright pissy poor behavior. I responded with a coy "oh yeah I guess that makes sense " and when they flip the screen around to ask for a tip I could not smash the "No tip" button hard enough - seriously though what planet are you on to ask for a tip after that piss poor service you just gave me? Way to greet a customer - and possibly the worst first impress of this place I could have ever received . I was so turned off by it I didn't go back for another and totally forgot about a growler at that point. Tried the ice cream craving chocolate- saw a flavor described as "chocolate eruption" if you are a chocolate lover - stay away - it tastes like Dixie cup chocolate with some chips added. Fail. Sad thing is I'm sure management will just scroll n roll the eyes past this. I'm plagued with finding any good bbq or any decent reason to spend $$ outside the house in the north central mass area and the search shall continue after this visit. Really a bummer when it was so dog friendly. The fries though are really amazing ... shoestring and crunchy... there's another star for those

Had no business being all this way on a work night but work had other plans. Long story short after delivering packages to my drivers I was recommended by one of them to come here for lunch. Thought I was grabbing a burger today but apparently only Fridays and the weekends with all the other good fixings so settled with an $18 loaded grilled cheese and a non alcoholic beverage. For what it's work it was ok, could have save myself time and made one at home. What boosted this to four stars other than anticipation that the weekend menu is really good was their ice cream. I was so impressed with the texture and how firm but soft it was. Ice cream alone is five stars. Went with a traditional black raspberry but threw a scoop of the graham bee which was delicious. If I am ever up this way on the weekend I would make an attempt to stop in and try some other food, but definitely grabbing another ice cream!

My wife and I went here for the first time on May 17th on a recommendation from my sister (her fav place). The location is beautiful! The buildings are rustic, which we like. The beers were very good, with a good selection from hoppy to dark. My wife loved the coconut porter "Cowabunga"! The food was also very good, with a farm to table theme. I had a grass fed burger with hand cut shoestring fries. Nice to see people offering "real" fries nowadays. My wife had the grilled cheese with Vermont cheddar and a side Caesar. We're definitely planning on going again, even though it's over an hour drive for us one way. Keep up the good beer and food!

Really nice large brewery with food options. Went here with a large group of friends and the place was absolutely packed. Tons of seating here and the line moved quickly. Only thing to note is food stops 1 hr before closing at 8 so you must get there early. Overall experience was very nice. Enjoyed beer, grilled cheese, pulled pork, burgers, and more. Really loved my grilled cheese and great portion sizes. Recommend

Had an amazing day with my family here. We even brought the dog. Great atmosphere with entertainment and nice outdoor spaces. Not much of an adventurous beer drinker but liked the light beer. The ice cream is good and even got one for the pup. Great for kids to play and enjoy the animals.

This place is a great concept for families. Parents get the beer and kids get the play area and everybody wins with food and ice cream. But... 1. Very confusing when you first get there of what is doing what? Where do we get beer? where do we order food? 2. We have a 1 year old and had a stroller- not all area's are mapped out with a walkway so stopping, turning the stroller around and hauling it backwards across the stone was a pain! 3. The menu change on the weekends stinks. I am an avid Yelper and do my research. Saw the weekend menu but still was showcasing on their website chicken wings with the BBQ. We get there and they do not do chicken wings on the weekend. Our whole crew was bummed! 4. Overpriced- $19 for 2 pork tacos? $10 for two side orders of fries that looked like 1 small order? Boo. The charm of breweries for me besides good food is a laid back atmosphere. This place was not very laid back in my opinion-getting out of a rural brewery to over commercialized. The stout drinkers raved over their stout but my IPA husband thought it was ok. Noisy, lots of kids and overall not my style.

This is the nicest brewery we've been to on our local brewery tour!!! So so beautiful!! From the barn you order your beers and food (also plenty of seating inside) to the beautiful grounds to enjoy the countryside. We arrived early on a Saturday afternoon and were greeted at the front counter to order our beers. Very helpful and friendly staff. We ordered beers, but were disappointed that the biggest selection is IPAs. I'm not a beer drinker so they suggested the Farmweiser Lime, they said it tasted like Budweiser Lime :( I wasn't impressed with it and I was disappointed that they didn't have any more fruity beers or hard seltzer's. We ordered pizza and it was okay, they brought that out to our table when it was ready. We enjoyed sitting outside looking over the cow fields. There was plenty of entertainment for the children to play and run around. A band was setting up to play, but we only stayed for 2 beers. They also have a farm stand and an ice cream window!! Plenty to do here if you want to spend an afternoon!

We had a great time visiting Stone Cow Brewery! The drive to get here was beautiful, and the facility itself is lively and has great views. The service was great - everyone working was so nice and friendly. The food was good and the beer was good, however prices for food were extremely high. Otherwise, we loved that the outdoor patio was dog friendly, and the ice cream shop had pup cups for our dog. Would definitely return for the drinks and the ambiance!

However I wouldn't entirely rule them out on not being able to try their beer as I just spotted their beer and purchased it at Total Wine and Beverage so perhaps it's production only now. We had one of their beers and were quite impressed by it. It was a Belgian Enkel/Patersbier, a very unique tasting beer and definitely reminds one of Europe. A beer more on fancier side with a dry, fruity and banana like flavor. It's complex but was very well balanced. The name of the beer just says Trappist Beer on Untapped but you may want to look for American Trappist ale or of course anything that says Spencer Brewery.

The area: Open space with tents setup with tables and chairs for seating, pouring stations scattered on one side of the event. There is also a station for tasting the large variety of jams and jelly (you can buy them at the souvenirs store at the entrance of the monastery), the other side of the event are tents for souvenir purchase and cases of beer for sale. They also have a small pond and large field for the kids to run around. Very family friendly. Price: We love that the admission is free and you got 2 sample tickets with it. Everything is very affordable: $1 sample beer, $5 pint beer, $5 for 3 hotdogs, $5 souvenir glasses, etc. You got my point. They also had a food truck for fire dept fundraiser - the line was too long, but I think for $10, you get half roasted chicken, biscuit, side salad, and some type of dessert. Very good deal. The flow: You must purchase tickets for everything (except the fire dept food truck), they only accept cash for the tickets. you use the tickets as cash to buy drinks, souvenirs, and cases of beer... So if you plan to make big purchase here, bring cash with you. They do have an ATM on site. The brewery area is open for self walk tour, you can find monks manning the various booths, walking around and greeting visitors. They are super nice and we really enjoyed talking with them and learning about the monastery. Miscellaneous: The church and grounds are open to the public, after the brewery tour, we drove down to the church and walked around for a bit. We love the peacefulness and scenic view here. 100% fan of the event, we hope they continue to offer open house and affordable price!!!

I made a mental note to come back another day, when I had time to explore the area. Spoiler alert: There's not much there to explore in Gilbertville. Although, if you're like me and willing to drive 10 miles out of your way to save ten cents a gallon on gas, they do have the cheapest gas around. But I digress... Yesterday I pulled into their almost non-existent parking lot and wondered where people park when they are full. I was there at 3pm, so it was empty aside from myself, two other people, and a dog. The space was quirky and eclectic, with random art on the walls, old pieces from antique shops, and a bar lined with metal seats. They also had a few tables. It was all dark old wood, and I imagine it would be an awesome spot to hit on a cold winter's day. I settled myself into a seat at the bar. Just a warning: those seats must have the AC blowing directly onto the metal, because my poor vagina felt like it went through a cold plunge. I was wearing shorts, but the freezing cold metal felt like it penetrated straight into my cervix. If you opt for bar seating while wearing shorts, pack a sweater for your genitals. Icy nether regions aside, this place was a perfect little hideaway to hang for a bit and enjoy some well-crafted beers. They don't serve meals, but they do have snacks you can purchase if you need some sustenance. Their white stout was PHENOMENAL, one of the best beers I've had in a while. It was creamy, sweet, and SO easy to drink. It gave me a cream soda vibe, but with a 7% bite. Solo factor: 7/10. The place was pretty empty when I went, so it felt very comfortable to be there by myself. But it's tiny, so I don't know if it would have that same vibe once it's packed. The bartender was awesome, and very attentive. The seating isn't necessarily ideal for someone who wants to spend hours hanging out there, but it was fine for the time I was there...and there were also other options for places to sit. Also, I saw that they have an outdoor area where you can sit, which I missed on the way in. And I would be remiss to not mention that their bathroom was freakishly clean for a brewery bathroom. I've been to two places over the past few weeks where I walked into the bathroom, saw what was waiting for me, and thought "Fuck it, I'd rather get a kidney stone." Yuck.
