It's hard to believe that Beer'd has been around for 2 years. They have had some awesome collaborations (with Relic & Night Shift) & put out over 40 beers in that short time. Beer'd also had a bottle release over the summer. They're doing something right when they sell out in under an hour

So glad we stopped in here this afternoon! We grabbed a table in the Beer'd Garden. We had a great server, wish we caught his name. I took his recommendations and tried 2 New England IPA's which are hazy by nature - my favorite kind. Unfortunately I don't recall the names, one was Karate something - with hints of pineapple, legit one of the best hazy ipa's I've had. My fiancé had the witbier which is always her go to - belgian blue moon type beer with a bit more of a kick. Their logo/brand is top notch. Having been to many breweries, their logo is really one of the best. We bought a tank for my fiancé and a pint glass for me to add to our collection. Unfortunately there weren't a ton of t-shirts (maybe covid related) because I would have gotten another one for myself - wish they'd just focus on that awesome "beard" logo because their color combos were great. Side note - during Covid times, you must purchase food with your drinks and the food doesn't compare to the beer! Not their rules, but oh well! Come have some beers!

Chill brewery in a random indoor flea market-eske spot. Love the logo and the beer titles and absolutely love the vibes. It gets massively hot in the summer so prepare to roast and drink a chilled one. Beer was ok, nothing that really stood out to me. We were in the area and came by this place with some of our friends. Would I go back and go out of my way to it? Probably not. Only because nothing really stood out with the beers. Food wise, you can order in any of the little restaurants around and they will come bring it in free of charge. That's definitely a plus! Drafts to go available for purchase. Wish the menu had the beer description on it so it could make ordering a little easier. Other than that, cool chill brewery. Prices are great too!

We wanted to a visit a brewery while in the area and we love the logo so we had to stop by. We sat inside and tables were six feet apart and the wait staff were all wearing masks and payment was no contact (you cash yourself out at a booth). The beer was great and we will definitely be back! Wish they sold more of their speciality beer in cans.

Chill place to have a beer. The service is good. Haven't gone on a busy day yet, but so far my experiences have been well

Beer'd is one of my favorite breweries in Connecticut, so I was pretty excited to visit. It's located in The Velvet Mill, and because of the slightly confusing signage in the building, it's a little bit of an adventure to find it! Anyway, once we found it, it was very adorable space, there are a number of tables and other types of bar seating. At the time of our visit, they were dog friendly, I always suggest calling/checking before you go, as regulations/enforcement change. Anyway, they have plenty of great beer on tap, no food, but they encourage you to bring your own, or order delivery from the nearby pizza place. They also have cans to go, and we filled up our cooler for the trip home, as there's no better place to pick up beer than at the source. The only drawback is that they're at the complete other end of the state from me!

I have been a fan of their beers for several years but today was my first visit to their brewery. It's located in a super cool old industrial building with a lot of other fun and neat shops. Most were closed when we arrived on Friday afternoon so we headed straight for the brewery. I loved the super chill vibe of the space and the really friendly guys and gals behind the counter.. Chatting with patrons who were there to buy a piece t, and a growler or cans. Beer'd is known for their consistent and delicious DIPAs and trying g them from the source was worth the drive. The tap room does not sell flights BUT the gals behind the bar were more then willing to serve me a taster of each beer on tap before I made my choice. There are seats and tables to enjoys your beer and people watch. Definitely one of the top breweries in CT!!!

    So good!

We love to seek out the smaller breweries for tastings and growler fills. I noticed another customer with a beer'd growler at Cottrell brewing company, and made a mental note to give them a try. Located in the eclectic and delightfully diverse old velvet mill, beer'd is the obvious cornerstone of what keeps this emporium alive. The tasting room is funky in a good way, with a laid back vibe and friendly staff. We were able to taste a ton of their brews, I fell in love with 8 days a week, and my husband really liked their Already Taken ipa, and Hobbit Juice dipa. We were in luck, as they turned over two kegs in the 40 min we were there and allowed us to try those as well which was a great treat. We left with some growler fills, which was done efficiently and competitively priced for the quality of the product. I would definitely return and recommend them to the craft brew enthusiasts in the area.

I was so excited to try this boutique brewery. It's in the Velvet Mill. We had a flight & 1 dark & 1 fruity IPA. The servers lacked enthusiasm and didn't want to be bothered with questions about beer choices. Um, isn't that why you work here? That was lame & disappointing. Love their logo but their beer isn't memorable. Limited space to sit. No food. Restrooms are somewhere else in the Mill.

I'm not sure why I expected more, but it fell short on freshness, flavor and creativity especially given today's modern brewpub scene. Deep sighs from lady at counter clearly irritated at our question if there were any sandwiches or handhelds as she flung her hand up at the screen. Apologized and said we'd seen them listed on the website. Not a great welcome. Ordered at the counter and handed a buzzer. We all ordered ourselves. Collectively - two pizzas, three orders of wings, and a Ceasar salad. We also went to the bar to get drinks. Then we got our own paper plates, napkins, and plasticware. Buzzer went off for one of us about ten minutes later. Pizza. Then 5 minutes later, another's. Wings. Not one person's whole order, but piecemeal. We made SIX separate trips from the front where we were sitting all the way to the back. So it was grab a bite of pizza - BUZZZZZZ - go get salad - a few mouthfuls - BUZZZZZZ - one order of wings - this dance went on for a half hour! Who eats like that? Salad was warm, drowned in anchovy forward dressing and limp lettuce. Asked for extra crispy wings. Flaccid. Super bummed. We had to go back to place our order, get our own tableware, set the table, and then pick up the food... If we had known all this I don't know that we would each have left a 20% tip after ordering. Received more care and service at a DD drive through. Pizza itself was great - just cold by the time we got all our food and were able to sit still and eat. So... all in all - great atmosphere to grab a beer at the bar and yak or order ONE pizza so you all could actually enjoy it warm. Group each wanting something different or expecting food brought to you - not the spot. Just go with the right expectations and you will enjoy.

A chemical engineer by day, Alan brewed at home at nights and on weekends. In 2009, Alan and his wife Jennifer started thinking seriously about opening a brewery. The couple located a circa 1920s building that had originally been the Westerly Macaroni Factory. They outfitted the building, hired a great staff, and were open by the end of 2011. The first beer they brewed was "Flagship Ale". Jennifer oversaw the brewery operation while Alan continued to work full-time as an engineer, all while they raised four children. The Brintons later purchased the historic Cataldo House next door. After a careful renovation, they opened this property as their taproom and outdoor beer garden in May 2016. The brewery also partnered with Vetrano's Restaurant to launch "Vetrano's Wood Fired": fresh wood-fired pizza prepared on-site at the beer garden. The original brewery building is now used exclusively for production, canning, and beer-to-go sales. In 2020, Grey Sail expanded by opening South County Distillers: a sister distillery located on the same property. I have been enjoying Grey Sail's beer since the earliest days of the brewery. I have also visited the brewery a number of times and enjoyed watching them expand over the years. I recently stopped there for lunch with my son while we happened to be passing through the area. After grabbing a table at the beer garden, I ordered a sampler flight at the taproom which consisted of "Hazy Day" (Belgian Wit), "Middle Child" (IPA), "Raspberry Reef" (Wheat Ale), and "Haze, Ho!" (New England IPA). The latter was my favorite. For food, my son and I ordered and shared a "Cheese Pizza" and a "Margherita" (fresh mozzarella, sauce, basil, parmesan cheese, EVOO) from Vetrano's. We really enjoyed the pizza! During our visit, my son and I also enjoyed a few games of corn hole. Between their eclectic beer selection, quality craft cocktails, delicious wood-fried pizza, and spacious taproom and beer garden, I highly recommend a visit to Grey Sail Brewing!

Beer'd Brewing Company is a craft brewery that opened in Stonington, Connecticut in November 2012…read more It was founded by husband and wife Aaron Simoncini and Precious Putnam. After enrolling in a class entitled "Beers of the World" in college, Simoncini became very interested in craft beer and soon began homebrewing. It was during this time that he gained the nickname "Beer'd". Eventually with his now-wife Putnam, Simoncini set out to open his own brewery. The couple set up shop at the Velvet Mill in Stonington. The historic building was originally home to the American Velvet Company, which operated from 1892 to 1996. Today it is a multipurpose building that is home to a thriving community of small businesses and artist studios. When Beer'd originally opened in the mill, they had just a 100-barrel system. The brewery quickly became notable for their small-batch high quality IPAs. In 2018, Beer'd opened a secondary facility at the Airport Business Park in Groton. This new 12,000-sq-ft space expanded their production capacity to 6,000 barrels. An adjoining 60-seat taproom (dubbed "Beer'd Brewing @ The Silo") opened at the Groton facility in January 2020. To differentiate the two taprooms, the original location in Stonington is now often referred to as "Beer'd Brewing @ The Mill". I recently visited Beer'd @ The Silo. Although they are one of my favorite Connecticut breweries and I've visited their Mill Taproom multiple times, this was my first visit to the Silo Taproom. Unlike the OG taproom which is more family-friendly, the Silo Taproom is intended to be exclusively for the 21+ crowd. It's a pretty nice space too. I pulled up a seat at the bar and looked over the draught menu. Throughout my visit, I enjoyed short pours of "You Like 'A Da Juice" (New England IPA), "Matter of Time" (New England IPA), "Roulette" (Russian Imperial Stout), and "Heavy Weight-Of-Sound" (Triple IPA). They were all excellent, but the last one was my favorite! I'm honestly not sure which taproom I prefer. If you've got little ones or furry friends with you, then head to the Mill. If you prefer a more adult exclusive experience, then head to the Silo. Either way, I plan on enjoying Beer'd beers for years to come!

Beer'd Brewing Co. - The Silo: A Hidden Gem Worth Finding…read more Beer'd was our second favorite stop on our Niantic-to-Mystic beer crawl--and easily one of the better surprises of the weekend. Tucked away in the back of an industrial park near the Groton-New London Airport, The Silo feels like a place you'd only find if someone tipped you off... or if you followed the unmistakable scent of hops and good decisions. We tried two beers during our visit: Organized Playdate, a lime- and pineapple-forward Double IPA with a subtle zestiness, and 8 Days a Week, a clean, easy-drinking American Pale Ale. Both were solid pours--bright, flavorful, and balanced. The kicker? They were on special for just $4 each, which made them taste even better. No complaints. The vibe inside The Silo is sleek and modern without being cold. Think clean lines, minimal décor, and just enough polish to feel stylish while still being comfortable. Despite the industrial setting outside, the taproom has a warm and welcoming feel--a cozy, intimate space that makes it easy to settle in for a round (or two). Service hit the sweet spot: friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without being overbearing. Just what you want when you're tasting your way through unfamiliar brews. Bottom line: Beer'd gets it right. The beers are creative without trying too hard, the space is chill without being boring, and the prices made it feel like a find. If you're in the area, it's worth the slight detour off the beaten path.
