Stopped in while visiting CT and was pleasantly surprised with everything they had to offer. Not only did they have a great selection of brews on tap, they had every game you could think of, a corner of toys/coloring books for kids, a great little outdoor area, and you can BYOF. We stopped at a nearby deli for some grub to bring here to have lunch paired with some of their delicious beers. I got a flight that was filled with mostly IPA's and one sour. Everything was fresh, cold, and tasty. My daughter had a blast playing with every little toy that was available which allowed us the time to eat and relax. Not only did they offer a wide variety on tap, they had a bunch of cans to-go in the cooler. The owner was patient with me while I chose what I wanted and was helpful too! Great place! Highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area!

I had a great time here, the server was very friendly, we went on a sunday evening and it wasn't really all that busy which was nice! They have shuffle board inside as well as some indoor board games, outside have life-sized connect 4 and jenga. I love the meaning of the brewery - myrcene is a primary substance in dry hopped beers... fitting!

Fantastic little shore brewery in Old Saybrook. I performed here as a singer songwriter. The owners were polite and friendly. Staff was knowledgeable and polite! Highly recommended if you are into good beer and nice atmosphere!

In Old Saybrook there is a new brewery that my friend and I just stopped by the other day. It is called, Myrcene Ale Co. Thank goodness for the signs down the road, we would have never found it. Mike is one of the owners, we chatted with him, he said they've only been open for two months. He said he just wants "to make good beer and treat people right". Not a bad motto to have. This brewery is such an inviting space. There's a few places you can sit, at the bar, in a comfy chair, or on the bench outside. No matter where you sit there's games you can play. There's so many games. They also have a corner for little kids to play cars and more. You will not be bored here, that's for sure. They have about 10 beers on tap, and any of them can be added to a flight. Some of them are their own, some are from other local breweries. We got a flight of four to share. M.A.C #1 - Mango is their fruity double IPA, this will give your taste buds a little tickle, it was something I enjoyed more towards the end. Harvey's Beach Sunset, was pretty tart of raspberry, a solid pick. Orange Dream, this one was delicious! It was creamy orange, so easy to drink and so refreshing. Spoke & Spy is a cider, from Spoke & Spy this one tastes like smooth drinkable honey to me. Spoke & Spy and Orange Dream were our favorites. I like to end it with Harvey's Beach Sunset. I have to say, Harvey's Beach is a lovely beach in Old Saybrook, and it really does have the most beautiful sunset, very similar to the color of the beer. We had the best time, at Myrcene Ale Co. discovering their tasty beers and playing a variety of fun games! I'll be back here for sure!

Immediately you are greeted by the friendly staff who are so accommodating with letting you try samples of their brews before purchasing. We got a 4 pack to go and loved it. I loved how cozy and homey it felt almost like you were hanging out in someone's backyard. Next time I am in the area- Little House will be our first stop for sure!

Probably because I didn't have much bookmarked for a planned trip for stops in Connecticut but an opportunity did arise to try a couple of their beers and so I pursued it in which I was quite impressed! I had their Premium which I really enjoyed! It was a Helles Lager which I normally really enjoy. This one was exceptional as it had an excellent flavor profile. It was clean, crisp and some sweetness at work. It was smooth and very easy to have more than one during a single seating. The other beer I liked just as much practically. This was a milk stout called Gimmie The Gorbage (no, I didn't misspell the beer title this time) and it too was quite good. A very smooth beer in which you will find chocolate, coffee, cocoa and molasses flavors that make contact with your tastebuds. Also a very enjoyable beer! A very good beer experience this was and grateful for the opportunity that came along on a brewery that wasn't on my list in which it would have been something I really would have missed out on.

The hubby read some of the other Yelper's comments and knew to go upstairs, really glad others mentioned that! The bar tenders were friendly, they had lots of beer selections (not all on tap, many canned options) and the band turned out to be absolutely fabulous! Following Strange Brew on Facebook is a great way to find out about all their different shows (bands, trivia, comedy, etc) and I don't know why we waited so long to get there! A great thing is their response to Facebook requests for information. But, It was cold outside and when we came in, upstairs, it was cold inside too. So we decided to leave and find a place that was a bit warmer. Nite that there was plenty of seating and it looked like a nice venue. ***** Facebook response for parking. Thank you for your inquiry. There are a few options for parking including on street parking on both sides of the road. Our building is located on the right side of the road (Water Street is a one way road). There are also three parking garages across the street. Each are available for parking, two of them have signage that says otherwise but it does not apply to our business hours, 6pm till closed. There are a few other parking garages located in downtown within walking distance including Main Street parking garage. There is also parking available in the lot at the marina, about a two minute walk from us on the road running parallel with our road. Please feel free to ask any questions you have regarding the venue &/or event(s). Thanks! For the entryway their response: Sorry for delay, On the right side of the building their is a staircase. Although we own the entire building, we are located on the second floor.

Beer'd Brewing Company is a craft brewery that opened in Stonington, Connecticut in November 2012…read more It was founded by husband and wife Aaron Simoncini and Precious Putnam. After enrolling in a class entitled "Beers of the World" in college, Simoncini became very interested in craft beer and soon began homebrewing. It was during this time that he gained the nickname "Beer'd". Eventually with his now-wife Putnam, Simoncini set out to open his own brewery. The couple set up shop at the Velvet Mill in Stonington. The historic building was originally home to the American Velvet Company, which operated from 1892 to 1996. Today it is a multipurpose building that is home to a thriving community of small businesses and artist studios. When Beer'd originally opened in the mill, they had just a 100-barrel system. The brewery quickly became notable for their small-batch high quality IPAs. In 2018, Beer'd opened a secondary facility at the Airport Business Park in Groton. This new 12,000-sq-ft space expanded their production capacity to 6,000 barrels. An adjoining 60-seat taproom (dubbed "Beer'd Brewing @ The Silo") opened at the Groton facility in January 2020. To differentiate the two taprooms, the original location in Stonington is now often referred to as "Beer'd Brewing @ The Mill". I first visited Beer'd in 2013 (when they were just one of a small handful of breweries in Connecticut), and I've been a huge fan of their beer ever since. They are one of my favorite Connecticut breweries and I have visited them multiple times; they were even a stop on my brewery bus tour bachelor party. I also must point out that Aaron and Precious are lovely people. I recently stopped there while I was in the area. It had been a while since my last visit and there were a few changes. In addition to the original taproom, Beer'd has set up an indoor beer garden in the center of the Velvet Mill. Patrons can enjoy some beer paired with food from one of the mill's many food vendors. Beer'd also set up a designated "Dog Den" for patrons to enjoy a beer if they have furry friends. During this visit, I enjoyed a taster flight that featured "8 Days A Week" (Pale Ale), "Stunner For the Win" (New England IPA), "An Unexpected Upgrade" (Double IPA), and "Heavy Weight-Of-Sound" (Triple IPA). They were all excellent! I plan to continue enjoying Beer'd beers for years to come!

They had a few tables and our server was great. It's a nice spot to people watch too. Inside was large and spacious. There was a long line to the restrooms though, popular place. Where we unfortunately went wrong was eating here. Cheap fry oils and sloppy sandos that give bar food a bad reputation. I'm not sure why I expected more, but it fell short on freshness, flavor and creativity especially given today's modern brewpub scene. Niantic Public House & Brewery: Solid Beer, Great Vibe, but the Bar Setup Needs Help…read more Final stop--or technically, our first--on our Niantic-to-Mystic beer crawl was Niantic Public House & Brewery, conveniently located near our Airbnb. The town was buzzing with tourists, and we caught the tail end of a local car show just up the street. The scene had great small-town energy, and live music was just setting up when we arrived. Bonus points for easy parking behind the building. The space has a cool, industrial vibe with bold murals from local artist Jacob Cullers giving it some character. The taproom itself is big, open, and welcoming, with plenty of seating at the bar and throughout the space. The décor isn't exactly cohesive, but it has personality--and for a laid-back beer hang, that works. We tried Mystery of Juiceboxin', a super juicy New England IPA brewed with Mosaic and Citra hops (juiceheads, this one's for you), and D.S.D., a stronger, bolder Imperial IPA. Both were solid pours and easy to enjoy. I ended up going back for a second, which--if you've read any of my brewery reviews--you'll know is my personal barometer for whether a place is worth the stop. The vibe here is clearly geared toward community--super family-friendly, casual, and unpretentious. The live music was a nice touch too. J.C. Revival, a local duo, was playing that afternoon and added just the right amount of energy without overwhelming the space. Now... let's talk about the service. The bartenders themselves were friendly, upbeat, and doing their best--but the layout of the bar is absolutely killing them. Glassware is at the front, taps and sinks are in the back, and it felt like they were in a constant loop just trying to fulfill basic orders. Even on a slow day, service was sluggish simply because of how inefficient the setup is. You could see how hard they were working, but the system they're working within just doesn't make sense. A bar remodel focused on flow and function would go a long way here--not just to improve speed, but to take some pressure off the staff, who really were trying their best. Bottom line: The beer is worth the visit, the space has charm, and the energy is welcoming. But if you go, pack a little patience. Here's hoping they invest in a more functional bar setup--because with better service speed, this place could be a standout.
