Such an adorable brewery! After walking the town we ended our stop in Chester here and we're so sad we didn't allot more time to spend here. Immediately you are greeted by the friendly staff who are so accommodating with letting you try samples of their brews before purchasing. We got a 4 pack to go and loved it. I love how there is complimentary popcorn and how there's a fun viewing of the brewery process open for public to see. My favorite aspect of this brewery had to be their outdoor seating. I loved how cozy and homey it felt almost like you were hanging out in someone's backyard. Next time I am in the area- Little House will be our first stop for sure! read more

I have seen Little House Brewing here and there for a while in my brewery searching but it never made it on my formal list for breweries to try. Probably because I didn't have much bookmarked for a planned trip for stops in Connecticut but an opportunity did arise to try a couple of their beers and so I pursued it in which I was quite impressed! I had their Premium which I really enjoyed! It was a Helles Lager which I normally really enjoy. This one was exceptional as it had an excellent flavor profile. It was clean, crisp and some sweetness at work. It was smooth and very easy to have more than one during a single seating. The other beer I liked just as much practically. This was a milk stout called Gimmie The Gorbage (no, I didn't misspell the beer title this time) and it too was quite good. A very smooth beer in which you will find chocolate, coffee, cocoa and molasses flavors that make contact with your tastebuds. Also a very enjoyable beer! A very good beer experience this was and grateful for the opportunity that came along on a brewery that wasn't on my list in which it would have been something I really would have missed out on. read more

Cute little Brewery, the name is very accurate. They have some indoor and outdoor seating. They only serve beer, home made. The guy behind the counter while I was there was also the owner. You order your beer at the bar and then go find your seat. No waiter service as of now. I got several pints of beers and a set of flights and they were all good and tasted very fresh. I definitely recommend and will come back. Me and my fiancé love coming to breweries and this one was definitely one of the smaller ones but definitely cute. They do not have food for purchase but you can order some to the brewery and eat it there. They have shirts, hats, blankets and socks for purchase. The little house is truly little so either get here early for a seat or hope for the best. Otherwise you'll be sitting outside so wear a lot of layers if you're visiting in the winter! They have a great variety of beers guaranteed to please everyone in your group. Plus you're within walking distance to some of the best pizza and ice cream in the area. Little House Brewing is true to its name! This delightful brewery does indeed cram a lot into a little house on Main St in Chester, CT. This adorable brewery does small batches of some unique and delicious beers. Getting to Little House from Windham County had us driving through some of Connecticut's nicest backroads and small towns which was relaxing to travel. I recommend adding Little House to your breweries to visit list and make a point of getting there. The selections we enjoyed last night were: Roll The Can - a lactose sour packed with so much fruit that it could be a breakfast shake. High on the pineapple and mango. Definitely worth trying due to the uniqueness of this brew. Rare Candy - an easy drinking IPA. Exit 6 Beer - a solid Extra Special Bitter. Be patient for the pour. It takes time m and is worth the wait. Chilly Bin - this beer would have been great outside in the beer garden/patio had it not been a rainy June night. Mini Bear - delicious, delightful, decadent! excellent beer to share with the crew. I would like to thank the bartenders who welcomed us and poured our beers. Chester is such a cute little town, its filled with little resturants and stores, and so much charm. I've been wanting to check out their Little House Brewery, but it's impossible to get inside on the weekend, because it's so busy and so tiny. Last night after work some friends decided to go there for beers and trivia, even though it's a 45 minute drive for me I still decided to go. You can really see how little it is inside, when there were so few people. For such a little house, they have a lot of beer that they brew. I had two, Rare Candy and Fruit Stripes. Rare Candy looks sour, from its very light yellow color, it is double dry hopped, and has a very smoky taste to it. So unexpected, but I really enjoyed. Fruit Stripes, is as expected a fruity sour. As soon as I saw the rich raspberry color, I knew it would be my pick of the evening. It's bursting with raspberry, strawberry and watermelon juices! Delicious! I also sampled Cookin' By the Book. This is a stout, but tastes like chocolate cake. This is my pick for next time. We had a great time playing trivia and enjoying these delicious beers at Little House! read more

Very cute place in a very cute town! We went when we did because we'd read about an event that featured flights of craft beer and craft ice cream--but apparently they didn't have the glassware to accommodate anyone who hadn't ordered ahead. So that was disappointing...but we did get a decent beer, made single-serving friends at the small tables out front, and went for the missing ice cream afterwards right across the street. read more

The staff are always friendly and it truly feels like home every time you walk through the door. There's plenty of seats both indoors and out front and out back! Little House Brewing Company is a craft brewery that opened in Chester, Connecticut in August 2018. It was founded by friends Carlisle Schaeffer and Sam Wagner. The two met in 2010 when they were students at Vassar College. They were both members of the varsity Cross Country and Track & Field teams and bonded over long hours of running. Low and behold, the two also had a passion for brewing beer. It just so happens that the college was founded in 1861 by Matthew Vassar, who made his fortune in the brewing world. Vassar's brewery was one of the largest and most successful of its time, exporting beer all over the country. After the two friends graduated, Sam headed off to Minneapolis while Carlisle went to work at Cottrell Brewing Company in Stonington. The two would reunite years later with the intention of opening their own brewery. The location chosen was a circa 1836 townhouse that had housed everything over the years from a meat market to post office, barbershop to bakery. I first visited Little House Brewing in July 2019. I had cycled to Chester all the way from my home in North Haven and worked up quite a thirst. I first stopped at Otto down the street for a Margherita pizza to go and then I headed to the brewery. The location is a really cute, cozy place, which is very fitting for the street and town it resides. After looking over their menu, I ordered a sampler flight which included a Graf (beer/cider hybrid that they brewed in collaboration with Spoke + Spy Ciderworks), a Sour Gose (brewed in collaboration with Tox Brewing Company), an IPA, a New England IPA, and a Coffee Porter (brewed with freshly roasted Ashlawn Farm Coffee's Black Angus beans). All of the beers were great and paired well with my pizza. Although I tend to prefer IPAs, stouts and porters, my favorite beer of the flight was the sour gose named "Chips and Dip". It was brewed with tortilla chips and mango salsa and tasted just like it. I ordered a crowler of it to take home. I'll definitely return again when I'm in the area! Great little brewery in downtown Chester! It's very small inside so beware. Tons of seating in their back beer garden which was a happy surprise. I really enjoyed the "Chips & Dip" sour I ordered which was slightly spicy! The hubs was obsessed with their "Coffee and Donuts" stout and brought a 4pk home. Great prices and plenty to eat nearby! Continuing on central Connecticut's brewery tour during my vacay back to my home state, our last stop was at Little House Brewing located in the quaint, small town of Chester. Little House Brewing is located among other little shops in the town's center, and the structure itself is so cute, with the name very fitting for the brewery! Fun fact: Little House is located in a building that is almost 200 years old. The inside is small and intimate, and there is a patio in front with ample seating for the warmer weather. They have some snacks and bakery items for sale from The Drunk Alpaca, which incorporates some of Little House's beers into the snacks and bakery goods. That's pretty cool! I decided to get a flight of the Everything is Upside Down Now (IPA - milkshake/lactose), Kirb Appeal (sour/fruit), Perfectly Splendid (IPA - black), and Gone Muddin' (porter with coffee from Columbia). I would have to say my favorites were the Everything is Upside Down Now and the Gone Muddin'. Gone Muddin' had the right amount of coffee in it, and all the beers were pretty smooth. The beer menu is pretty small since it is a smaller brewery, but even for a small menu there is a great selection of different types of craft beers. Another stop you need to add to your CT brewery tour. Little House is one I'll definitely be back to when I come back to visit. read more

I've been following this place on Instagram for a while now but I live in Charleston, SC, so I had to wait for my next visit home to check it out. Luckily, I was in the area on Friday night and finally got a chance! My friend and I shared a flight of the Tommy's Tangerine Explosion, the Brutale Malus mashup with Spoke&Spy Ciderworks, the Strawberry cider from Spoke&Spy, and the Orange Ya Glad We Brewed a Sour. None of the options really blew me away, but they were all good. The strawberry was just one notch too sweet for me, while the orange sour fell just below my desired tartness. HOWEVER, being a brand-new brewery, I was really impressed. So often they have a handful of beers that are mostly IPAs or wheat beers, and Little House has a wide range available so early on in their run -- and what they have is good. I am excited to see what comes next. The brewery itself is adorable. They have a tiny front porch (sat about 8 comfortably, 10 with a squeeze) and a nice sitting area inside. Two restrooms, one of which uses recycled sink water to fill the toilet basin. The staff was friendly and helpful, and I took home two growlers as thank-you gifts for my cousins. I should have gotten one for myself, too! read more

Went here for the first time during covid just yesterday and we felt so comfortable! There's tons of outdoor seating and plenty of heaters even on a cold night. I loved the beer choices, my boyfriend is obsessed with the flavortown IPA. I was thankful that they had a sour and that was good too. They're selling bread and pretzels to follow stare guidelines and they are actually so good!!!! I would go out of my way just to get the cheese pretzel again. Not far from a few other fun breweries in the vicinity, Little House nevertheless feels like a world apart in the almost-too-halcyon Chester town center. You can bring ANY polite company here and bend an elbow comfortably. First and foremost, their beers are really enjoyable. Not overwhelming with all IPAs all the time, nor ignoring what the people want, the brewing team always has a nice portfolio of offerings that are interesting to beer explorers, plus quality riffs on favorite styles. I can never have just one while I'm there, and I never walk out without crowlers. With a great logo and ardent following, it's no surprise they have a good amount of merch, too (I sport a LHBC wool hat proudly in my Zoom photo, actually!). Everyone's entirely friendly, and their COVID protocols have been top-notch through 2020 to make everyone comfortable and safe. Come for the pretzels and stay for the beer! The beer selection is great and the names are fun. The Covid rules are a little clunky- the velvet-roped-off entrance, the spritz of sanitizer and 90 minute stay limit somewhat off-putting and detract from the stellar service and beer. read more

My husband was in the area for work today and we had the absolute pleasure of finding this gem of a brewery. The beertenders were unbelievably accommodating and friendly (serious shoutout - don't let them go!), the beer was so delicious - we tried a flight and a few half pints and even brought a crowler home to share with some friends. What's not to like about Little House?! First of all...it's a little house with an adorable brewery inside that spills out onto the front porch and back beer garden. The glasses have a logo of the cute spot and are for Sale. The owner that was there and his bar manager were friendly- even offered my husband some of his fries and changed the music upon request too. They had 8 beers on tap so plenty for all of us to find a beer we like. Helle Melon was tasty- the brown ale was smooth. The Wave ...something was delicious too. I started with a flight then went to a full glass. They were selling mugs for Maifest filled with beer for $15. They had a food vendor outback which was a great option. You can bring in your own food so no worries there. They have a small bar- high tops and cushion seating near the front windows- seating no worries. Games too- Rock Em sock Em robots for you retro fans. The bathrooms were big and beautifully finished- not usually happening in a brew place. Go check it out. Stopped in on a Friday afternoon for a couple brews. Was so pleased to see how popping the Little House was! I grew up in the area and it can be a bit sleepy which is tough for businesses but that doesn't seem to be a problem here! We enjoyed the Frat Lime, Kirb Appeal and Gone Muddin brews from a perfect window spot where we could people watch Main Street. The facility is clean, branding is adorably awesome - I had to stop myself from buying multiple hats and tees - and the staff was all super friendly. This place is a wonderful addition to Chester! The space is very nice and the beers are delicious! As someone who tends to not like IPAs, their Paper Pines is delicious, well-balanced, and doesn't taste like chewing on pine needles. I particularly loved the Hornet's Honey Kölsch, it was a bit like a mead. The staff is very friendly and great at explaining their beers.
