I recently visited Creature Brewing on Broad Street in New London, and it's clear this new spot is already carving out a niche in the local craft beer scene. The atmosphere is laid‑back and welcoming, with a cozy taproom that feels approachable whether you're a seasoned beer enthusiast or just stopping in for something casual.
The Session IPA was the highlight of my visit--bright, crisp, and perfectly balanced. It had a refreshing citrus note with just enough hop bite to keep things interesting, but without the heaviness that can make some IPAs overwhelming. It's the kind of beer you can enjoy more than one of, and it really showcased the brewery's skill in dialing in flavor while keeping it drinkable.
Creature Brewing's lineup is creative, with options ranging from stouts and porters to sours and seasonal releases. I sampled a few others, including a porter that leaned rich and roasty, and an Octoberfest.
While not every beer hit the same high note as the Session IPA, the variety shows they're willing to experiment and keep things fresh.
Service was friendly and attentive, and the staff clearly knew their beers. The vibe is more neighborhood hangout than polished destination brewery, which works well for New London. The space isn't huge, but it's comfortable, and I appreciated the mix of locals and visitors enjoying themselves.
If I had to nitpick, a couple of the beers felt slightly uneven in execution--good, but not quite memorable. That said, the Session IPA alone makes Creature Brewing worth the stop, and I can see this place becoming a regular go‑to for anyone nearby.
Overall: A strong addition to New London's craft beer scene. With a standout Session IPA, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere, Creature Brewing earns a solid four stars.
