Visiting from Los Angeles we stopped by this place for our last breakfast before heading to the airport . This place had an amazing host very friendly. As soon as we sat we were greeted by our server ? Didn't introduce her self and seemed busy . We ordered the famous chicken fried steak(2x) with has-browns and pancakes .. the chicken fried steak was ok but lacked a little flavor . The eggs were good , the onion rings were good but the pancakes ,, the pancakes were amazing !!!!!! I have never had pancakes this delicious ! The butter ! What was in the butter and the pancakes ?!? I think the pancakes made up for the chicken fried steak. These pancakes are the best I've had so far ! I'd come back and get something else I think I'd give it a second chance and I will definitely get pancakes when I come visit this beautiful state. read more

This used to be our go-to place to eat. Unfortunately, it has really gone down hill. Staff is great and friendly, but they are ALWAYS short staffed and food takes forever...last several times over an hour for four meals. It's all about knowing what you're getting. This place is the old-fashioned, meat and potatoes kind of place. Sandwich classics like patty melts, ruebens, burgers, etc. Pot roast; chicken fried steak; you get the idea. It is what it is, and if you have a hankering for a stick-to-your-ribs kind of meal, this is the place. If you're a healthy salad eater, your choices aren't great here. Note: tater tots are available instead of fries, but are not on the menu. Actually my biggest gripe is with the bakery; what kind of bakery does not use real whipped cream?! OMG - I don't know what they use, but stay away from anything that looks like it has whipped cream in it. It is not whipped cream, it is some kind of whipped lard or something. yuck. Catch-all restaurant... Anything special? Not really. For the most part the service has been good, though the coffee shop in their bakery is too slow for those in a hurry. Food is good, not saying the food is great and amazing and OMG YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS! But it "good" food. read more

Most amazing lattes I have ever had....seriously! I came in here as I'd heard about the old school classic candy collection. But ended up trying a latte. They give you a chocolate covered coffee bean with each drink, and seriously the best latte I've ever had. Their iced Americanos are heaven on a hot day. We live very close by and have given the restaurant many chances, but the quality and service are lacking. The last straw we were completely ignored and forgotten and our food was gross. A nice waitress noticed and made it right. I will only go to the bakery. We can cook at home and enjoy our meal vs going here. Had low expectations...was expecting an overpriced IHOP- but everything was awesome! Everything is HOME MADE! No greasy weird aftertaste for the hash browns. The home fries were so tasty too! My table was impressed how fluffy and amazing the pancakes were! We were kicking ourselves for not getting more! Yogurt parfait was OK too! I would describe this place as a Sandy-themed Denny's. The food and atmosphere is good enough so you don't complain. Nothing outstanding or worth recommending. I would suggest there are much better places to eat in Sandy. This is more of a tourist attraction than anything. read more

I've gone here quite a few times. But last time our waitress dropped some food on the table then picked it up with her bare hands and put it back on the plate. I didn't eat what she touched. It's very tacky let alone unsanitary for waitresses to touch your food. They do have some good food. But not the cleanest place...look around next time you visit. read more

Thanks for nothing? Went to the saloon around 11:30 and it was busy but not packed by any means. Waitress said she would wipe a table down for us. We stood next to the table for a couple minutes as she stood at the register and then walked away to do something else... so we walked around and found another spot and sat down. Waited a few more minutes no one came to give us menus or anything. We ended up just walking out to go somewhere else. We stopped for gas and asked for a recommendation for breakfast and the young man at the gas station suggested the Tollgate Inn. What an excellent suggestion. They make their own corn beef hash and their own bread. The standard number of eggs is 3 (not 2 like most places) and their omelettes are an outrageous 6 eggs! I love homemade corn beef hash, so I had this and the 3 eggs. Over easy on the eggs and crispy on the hash and it came exactly as ordered. It was one of the best (if not the best) hashes I have had in a restaurant. My wife had the sausage patty and eggs (yes they hand make the sausage patties, not frozen pre-made). I don't know if they put together their own mix for the sausage or if they have a local shop make it, but it's better than anything we've tasted back east. The people here are great, the service excellent. If I have to fault one thing is, they need a better coffee...but I'll live :-) If you're going through Sandy on the way to Mt Hood, you must stop here for breakfast. I came here with my boyfriend and his parents for a mothers day breakfast, it is her favorite restaurant and I was excited. I ordered the eggs benedict and it was terrible. Just truly awful. The hollandaise sauce seemed like it was a blend of mayonnaise and butter, absolutely disgusting and not hollandaise sauce at all. Super cute place, really good food and great service. The only gripe I have is that it's REALLY bright inside. When I walk into a restaurant at night, I don't want to be blinded by the light. It made my experience less enjoyable. I get having brighter lights in the family dining side but we were in the saloon. Really cute environment that makes you feel like you have stepped back in time. I love the little store you can shop in. Restaurant is clean and staff is friendly. They have good beer on tap more than the basics you find in a store. Great for families with kids. Located not that far from the Ski Bowl Mt Hood.
