I highly recommend this restaurant/bar! My husband and I both had the cheeseburgers, which were excellent! He had a salad with his burger and I had onion rings. The onion rings were probably the best I've ever had!! The burgers are hand-pressed, so no frozen meat. Brittany, our server, was excellent! She was the only server on the restaurant side, and was very attentive to all the tables. The ambiance is like the old west with lots of wood. The entire building was spotless! A week ago I ordered wings they were frozen and red inside when I bit into them. Was gross. I went back because I've been coming here for a years and we have never had these problems thinking maybe they changed the cook. So we decided to try again. Today I ordered mozzarella sticks they were frozen the first time. Sent them back and ordered them again and the second time they were still frozen. If you want to get sick come here otherwise don't waste your money. I tried to give it a second chance but not going to pay for frozen uncooked food. It's disgusting. We stopped in here for a late lunch on a Monday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised by the clean, cheerful atmosphere the super friendly, attentive, helpful service and the incredible, reasonably priced food. We ordered the chicken tenders sandwich with onion rings, which is amazing; the Patty Melt with the french fries and the turkey BLTA, which had a ton of fresh turkey and fresh fixings including avocado. I must say that the onion rings were the best that any of us ever had! Highly recommend for all ages and group sizes. read more

The food was very good. I think it was a great value. Service was very good. I think I mentioned the last time that they asked if we wanted everything at one time or to space things out...they did that again. A little thing but a lot of places don't give you a choice. Ambiance. It is a small town bar...lounge...restaurant. And a good one. Not too loud, but not quiet. Good food that seems like a good value to me and the staff really seem to care about the customers. The greater Portland area has an abundance of good to great places but this place is high on our list of places to keep in mind to stop in now and then...I actually think it is worth a detour to stop in! read more

We never got to the food. Two waitresses walked right by without even acknowledging us. We asked the third if we should seat ourselves and she said yes but it looks like there are no tables and she walked off. No "I'll be with you in a moment, or it'll be a 30 minute wait or try the tables on the other side of the restaurant (which were open) and I'll get someone to help you". We went to the other side and saw another waitress cleaning a table but she also ignored us so we left and went to the BBQ place. First, I have to say the service was excellent. Our waitress was great! I have to say that this used to be my favorite place in town for chicken strips. Last night we had dinner and my 4 piece chicken strips was terrible! I got eight small over cooked chicken nuggets instead of strips. They were more like chicken jerky than chicken strips more breading than chicken. They advertise hand dipped, but no way. My wife got the enchilada dinner which felt like a microwaved TV dinner. Very sad we won't be going back. I just don't know what's going on with this place. It used to be great. The last time we went, my wife's chicken strips were raw in the middle so it's been a long time and I guess it's not get any better. read more

This was our first time having dinner at Old Mill. We stopped in on a weekday when it was very quiet. There were only 3 other tables seated. Our server was friendly but didn't really seem to know much about the food being served. We asked a few questions about different items but didn't get much feedback. We went with an appetizer of bacon wrapped tots and dinners of a chicken fried steak and a BLT. The tots looked fried well but it was only on the surface. The bacon was raw in the middle and the tots were a little soggy. The chicken fried steak was ok. It wasn't fried long enough so the batter was undercooked. The fries and veggies were good. The BLT was good. Lots of bacon on it. The onion rings, again, weren't fried long enough so the batter was slightly raw on the inside. We left a lot of food on the plates because the raw batters, raw bacon and soggy tots just wasn't appetizing. Since it was just our first time having a full meal here we're not considering this spot a total dud. We'll likely be back to try some other options and I can update then. read more

We have visited this place a handful of times on the weekend and have always enjoyed it! (The bar end, not the restaurant end) Friendly and attentive staff, seems to have a lot of regular customers who are kind, good food and good drinks! My boyfriend loves the burgers, they have great fries, good club sandwich. Karaoke on the weekends is a hoot! Good sound level so you can enjoy the singing but also carry a conversation. This was our first time to the Old Mill Saloon and we were not disappointed. Oh my goodness. They have THE BEST onion rings I have ever had!! None of the lame frozen stuff you often get. They must be hand dipped in magical batter. Sooo, sooo, good. And they serve their salads in metal bowls! Genius!!! I loved having the extra room to actually mix it all up. Why haven't other establishments thought of this? Don't stop doing that. Maybe others will catch on. We also really liked the ambiance and how spacious it is, along with being able to bring my grandchildren if I want. It has plenty of room for families to enjoy a meal and also other adults to enjoy themselves without with the families . There is a definite separation of the two areas, which is fantastic. The service was spot on. Our waitress was very friendly and often checked in on us to make sure we didn't need anything. I will start by saying...definitely recommend the prime rib dinner...read on for more... I viewed a couple of recent reviews and paused for a moment before saying "what the heck, let's give it a shot" and I am sure glad I did. Within the last year, we moved to Estacada from Madision WI, a nice larger city but with lots of simple food opportunities, especially Prime Rib on a Saturday night (never of Fridays...that is fish fry day). We have had prime rib at a local sports bar, at a mid level local chain and at high end places, so we have a pretty good idea what is good and what is not. The Old Mill Saloon is definitely GOOD!!! And busy... The cut of meat was great...12 oz (you can get 8 oz or 16 oz too) and maybe even a little more. The crust had a smoky, woodsie flavor, which is also found in the outer meat band. The cut was not too fatty, but enough fat to satisfy those who like that. You get a baked potato...and you can get it loaded for extra cost (sour cream, bacon bits, chives, etc). The meal comes with a soup or salad side...we got one clam chowder and one chicken tortilla soup and both were good. You also get a side of steam vegetables. We got all of this to go...everything was hot and fresh. I was told 20 minutes and it was ready when I arrived. The service was great. I was approached immediately upon entering the building and had my food within 3 minutes of coming in. The one downside was price; it's not the less expensive meal so be prepared for that. Maybe not a weekly visit for the Prime Rib, but definitely monthly! I say give it a try! read more

Update: This business has really bounced back from the food issue, quality and quantity. The service is amazing as always. The food menu has been updated and has some good selections. The atmosphere of the bar is nice as it has always been. The servers are amazing as always. The outdoor seating on the bar side is nice and I expect it to get lots of use this coming winter, nothing beats a nice warm fire when it's cold out. The bartenders and servers are on top of everything like there was no hiccup. Highly recommend coming back here for the food and the amazing drinks and the bartenders amazing personalities and humor. read more

We ate here this past Sunday and we used to enjoy eating here food was good service was good but not anymore! The fries tasted like they were cooked in old nasty grease, the fish was mostly breading and they were out of bread ( sourdough) The waitress acted as if we were lucky to have her even come to our table to take our order. She never came to see if everything was okay or ask if we wanted anything else or bring the bill. What a pleasant surprise this was. Out on a motorcycle ride with some buddies and stumbled across this gem looking for brunch and a warm up. I think we may have been some of the first in but they were right on it. Service was 5-star and the food was completely unexpected.
