This review is titled "Basket of Disappointment" We were in town for the Beaver State Fling and I was excited to see a burger joint with such great reviews, so we stopped in for dinner. While the staff were friendly and quick to take our order, that's about where the good stopped. Considering my bill was 22$ for an iced tea, the Bacon-at-or, and waffle fries, it was not worth it at all. The burger was "OK" but nothing to write home about. It was your food service bun, frozen patty, cheese and lettuce. I added fry sauce to give it some flavor. The bacon was the best part of this burger. The waffle fries were fine, clearly frozen food-service grade, fried to order. On a positive note, the ice tea was brewed and done well! Overall the place looks tired and cluttered with "memorabilia" akin to the name diner. And lastly, if you are preparing food, please wear gloves! read more

I asked if they mixed flavors into their milkshakes (my coffee one tasted a bit light and I didn't want to ask for a complete remake if they could just add a bit more of the flavor) and she took my shake out of my hand and was dismissive, short, appears to have anger issues and was totally unprofessional. perhaps she needs to up her glasses prescription before she sees how ugly her behavior was. if you're here for family friendly service, you chose the wrong place. Lews has the best Cotton candy ice cream. Love taking my son here for a couple of scoops on a Saturday as a treat. I will give this a "3" star because I don't want to tear down a small local business and their overall rating, but truly I have tried three times and have been very disappointed each visit. We will not be back. I have tried the burgers, the tots, the chicken basket and the chili cheese fries...oh and the chocolate shake...all significant fails, especially the chocolate shake. Service was fine. I placed a take out order and it was ready in 15 minutes. I waited at the restaurant...it was very cold in the seating area...I needed my coat to keep warm while waiting. The chocolate shake seemed like an after thought, it barely had any ice cream (or so it seemed) and it had a very off taste. Hopefully your experience is better than ours. read more

Lews is a family favorite and some of the employees know mine and my husband's order by heart. But today everything just wasn't as good as it normally is. We walked in and it took over 10 minutes to get acknowledged. While ordering the person taking our order kept telling us we could do certain things which we've always been able to do before. When it came time to get our food all the orders were correct except one. I'm allergic to mayo and I asked for no sauce on my burger and sure enough there was a big glob of sauce on my burger. We also didn't get our drinks untill after we got our food and it took another almost 15 minutes to get a kids sized milkshake. We love lews and will come back again. But today I am disappointed that the service and food was not how it normally is. read more

Recently took the family for a weekend camping trip in the area. We packed our camp chef griddle, but I forgot our propane tank at home. Rather than buying another tank, we made it work. It wasn't the worst thing - we were still able to cook most of our food directly over the campfire grill (burgers, steaks, etc). But for breakfast, rather than doing things like pancakes and eggs directly over the fire, we opted instead to swing into town to find a breakfast diner each day. Well we found this place on the first day, and it's the only place we went each day for breakfast/brunch. The menu is pretty extensive - standard breakfast fare, burgers, dogs, burritos, sandwiches, etc. Their country gravy is really good. Biscuits and gravy was excellent. 10" hot dog, dressed up in any number of ways, was good. Mushroom swiss burger. Sausage and bacon was consistently cooked just right. (I didn't actually order all of that; but I tasted most of the food that the rest of the family ordered.) I really enjoyed their mega gravy train, which was a pile of extra crispy hash browns, smothered in their gravy, then covered with a bunch of meat (bacon, sausage, ham), cheese, onions, and bell peppers. It definitely came out like something you'd see in Diners Drives-Ins and Dives. Next time in, I think I'll order the patty melt with a side of their gravy to dunk it in. Bonus - they have really good malts and milkshakes too -- a bunch of flavors and really inexpensive for what you get. read more

My husband and I love Lew's! When family comes to visit us from out of town, we take them to Lew's. They have the best burgers, tots, onion rings and milkshakes. Let's talk about menu options and pricing! From breakfast burritos to burgers to chicken to fish! And everything was so gosh dang cheap! Good thing, too, cuz I wanted to buy half the menu! I got the meat breakfast burrito, my man got the Lews and we split some monster tots with bacon and cheese as we kayaked on the lake. It was perfect. I made an online order and went in to pick up. Both sandwiches (burger and sandwich) were wrong. They had mayonnaise all over them when I specifically put "no sauce." This was annoying but not something to be super upset about as I came back in and said they were wrong and needed to be fixed. They were kind and told me they were sorry and would fix it right away. When I went back out with the supposedly fixed ones the sandwich toppings still had mayonnaise all over them with just new bread. That is when I got very upset. I was over it at this point and threw away the sandwiches, wasting my money and not eating. To do that is extremely disrespectful. I don't think I will be returning. read more

Just like it should be. 50's theme with cruise in photos, 45rpm records hanging, old rock &roll playing. Just like the old teen and hot rod hangouts used to be.
