Small coney..props for the great amount of onion!

I was so excited to try this little joint.. I hate to give it only three stars because they customer service was excellent. They were the nicest people! I was so thoroughly disappointed in my food though.. granite I understand it's a hot dog burger joint..I ordered the Coney dog, basically a dog with mushy bread and a dripping watery sauce ..hubs got a jalapeño cheddar dog added coney sauce. When they delivered the fries, they looked fabulous, homemade and fresh from the fryer..but They were like soggy limp noodles! It was hard to even dip them in the fry sauce because they were just mushy. They did have a large burger menus and shakes that looked good.

I now understand why my favorite place gets such bad reviews. Their customer service is terrible. They can't hear the difference between Long and Short in person or over the phone. If you can't hear your customers, how do expect them to order??? Tried calling first and that was awful so I had to drive there. They still at the counter couldn't distinguish between Long or Short. Kept saying Long? They've got to do better if they want better reviews

An incredible experience. My wife happened across this place by mistake and insisted we come back. Firstly it has SO much history and you can see that from all the articles plastered on the walls. It is definitely not built for large parties unless you sit outside; but I definitely recommend sitting inside at least once to fully experience the ambiance. The food is good. Both my wife had the double bacon cheese burger and split the coney fries. The burger is solid, maybe a little on the saucy side but everything is good and there's nothing to really complain about. The coney fries were a little bit of a let down. The fries feel handcut which is cool, but they weren't super crisp and the coney sauce didn't really stand out to me. But The HUGE selling point is really the price. To get a burger for 6 - 9$ is absolutely insane. I truly can't think of anywhere else where you can get this kind of value. Worth the trip for the quaint-homey-vintage vibes and the ABSOLUTE value.

Do yourself a favor and skip Burgerville just up the road.. always great to get more for less, but why would you pay more and get a McScrawny when you can get a double-cheese here?? Ordered ahead of time and my burger was ready with no line at lunchtime on a Sunday, again compared to typical wait at B'ville..

Roake's is basically an old fashioned burger and fries spot. A lot of history inside so if you would like to get to know a bit more step inside. Outside is just a billboard with food options and they call out your order when ready. They provide a playing card so it's easy to distinguish your order from others. Tried a Roaker burger which was only $6.50 so fair price. Not the best burger but a good burger to try. Didn't try out the fries but they looked appealing. The staff was friendly and attentive. Good easy location off McLoughlin with enough parking on both sides. I would go back again to try a different food item and the fries.

Great burgers and fries like they used to be! Sorry to hear about the passing of Larry, but the place is busy as usual as he watches us from above.

Delicious food, friendly staff, great history, unique and awesome. We'll be back! Thanks

Pretty good but a little overhyped. The fries were a little limp and on the salty side. Hot dog was pretty good, the highlight was actually the ciabatta bun for the burger!

This place is a hidden Portland gem and I've been coming here since I was in T-ball haha. Perfect Americana to bring your kids to feel what the good old days were like hahah. The long cony dog and cony fries are a must! Everyone is incredibly kinds as well and have incredible photos inside while you eat or wait! Limited seating but makes it cozy!

Kids meal. Very good and plenty for me

Lots of history here. I've been coming to place for the last 40 years! My parents were raised in Portland so every time we would visit family we would make a stop here. Lots of nostalgia here. Good dogs and fries! That's all I've ever had here. Didn't try any of the burgers. Maybe next trip?

This is a stunning burger…read more I have come here an embarrassing amount of times since moving back to Portland. The first time I came alone, just a little hungry and a lot broke. So I got the $6 little pleasure burger. A simple, single patty smash burger. It's everything a McDonald's burger wishes it could be - beefy and drippy, a squishy, slightly sweet bun, oozing hot grease without being heavy, lacy and crisp edges, and held together with the right amount of American cheese. It was the perfect amount for that day. Then I returned with my date. Twice. And he brought his coworkers for lunch because he liked it so much. I have had the western and the mushroom burger since, as well as the parm and chive waffle fries. They have nuggets and I'm inclined to believe they're great. The staff is great, it's a small team and they're all there every single day. They care about their product and your experience. The space is a simple counter, not good for large groups. It should be noted that even though their burgers would be great with a beer, they don't seem to have a liquor license! So don't expect an IPA with that shroom burger. Maybe someday!

Between the genuinely friendly hospitality and the flavor combinations, this spot hits it out of the park and is a must for sandwich lovers. Griddled Mortadella (5/5): An incredibly delicious sandwich that perfectly balances rich, salty, and savory flavors. It comes loaded with a generous portion of grilled mortadella and melted provolone cheese, perfectly moistened with a tangy mustard aioli. The fresh lettuce and bell peppers added a satisfying crunch to every bite. Chefwich - K-Town Steak Sandwich (5/5): A limited-time creation packed into a banh mi roll. It had a generous portion of perfectly tender and sweet bulgogi steak that pairs with their melted jack cheese. The gochujang mayo sauce had a subtle and sweet heat, while the fresh kimchi added crunch and slight acidity to balance the rich meat. Elote Tater Tots (5/5): Definitely a creative side dish. The tots were perfectly fried and topped elote style with cotija cheese, pairing well with the smoky chipotle mayo on the side. Logistics Tip: Street parking is surprisingly easy to find in the surrounding area, even on a busy weekend evening. The restaurant has a spacious layout with plenty of seating options both inside and outside. If you're a first-timer, don't hesitate to ask the staff for suggestions, as they're exceptionally warm, welcoming, and passionate about the menu.

My daughter and I shared the Willamette Reuben and her friend ordered the Italian Flag. We shared the Lardo fries. Oh man, the Reuben was perfection! The flavor of the meat and everything on the sandwich, from texture to flavor--chef's kiss! We heard that the Italian Flag was excellent too. IMO. This BBQ is Kansas City style, so the sauce is a bit sweeter. We got the brisket, the chicken wings, and sides. We couldn't decide if on the sauce for the wings, so we got all 3 on the side.
