I finally visited the iconic Franks-a-Lot on Sunday afternoon on a walk to the Laurelhurst Theatre. The two people working there were just the sweetest folks, very helpful and friendly. I appreciated their recommendations for a first time visitor. Quick service for my standard all beef corn dog. It was very good but I would have preferred the batter to be a bit crunchier. Delicious nonetheless. Sat outside enjoying the gorgeous autumn afternoon. Would definitely stop here again.

Great spot for a good old fashion hot dog and corn dog. The owner was super cool to chat with. Prices are reasonable. Batter was delicious. There's plenty of outdoor seating and even a drive thru to order. Lots of old pics to browse at which was cool to see.

I finally tried Franks-A-Lot and it did not disappoint! They offer a vegan frank (tofu hot dog) and a vegan Italian frank, plus gluten-free options. Their corndog batter contains milk, so you won't find vegan corndogs here but their vegan franks were delicious. You can load up on free toppings like mustard, onions, jalapeños, and (for vegetarians and non-vegans) cheese. The stand is right next to Whole Foods and there is an outdoor area to enjoy your food. Staff was super friendly!

If you have ever been in the parking lot of Whole Foods and suddenly wanted a hot dog real bad, have I got the place for you! Franks A Lot touches a place deep within my soul. Top notch people, a real Portland vibe, and corn dogs that will heal all wounds. Please give them a visit when you need a good ol hot dog fix

Corn dogs baby!

Food: I love corn dogs so I was excited to try this corn dog it's an All Beef Frank (he let me know I got the last one:) it is really good and juicy. You can tell it's a homemade corn dog batter but, if he was to add a little sweetness it would be amazing!! Service: I was greeted immediately and, even though I looked at the menu I knew what I wanted. It was very quick and fast service. I was asked if I wanted anything besides and corn dog any ketchup and mustard (I am just a mustard gurl:). My order was done and he thank me for stopping by! Ambiance: Was very nice and quiet even through its on a busy street. There is plenty of covered seating and a decent amount of parking only for Frank a lot! I found this place on Yelp so I knew I had to try it and, I can say it didn't disappoint and, I would highly recommend this divey restaurant!

I've been here a couple of times with my dad. If you want a chili dog, corn dog etc, this is the place to go to. They have different kind of beefs you can choose from, the owners were pretty cool and yes it is a to-go place or you can choose out door seating. I would definitely come back here again and probably order more than what I did last time.

Very good service at this little hot dog joint in whole foods parking lot, been here longer then the whole foods but I don't remember what the store used to be. Overall still good prices for a good quality product and the fact that you can make anything into a corn dog is fun. I prefer to get the regular dogs most of the time but we have always been happy with both options.

Great place for a good quality hot dog! We were shopping at Whole Foods when we decided we wanted a snack, so of course we had to try the hot dog stand - it's right in the parking lot! The dogs were dogs - nothing too special but hit the spot for sure. I love that you can choose your own kind of dog and customize what toppings you want, or choose a specialty dog with recommended toppings, like the Chicago style dog we got. Both were solid, and I'd definitely come back here for my hot dog craving. The staff was so friendly as well, and FAST. They were slinging dogs left and right.

Lots of fresh made menu items, some with a twist from time honored recipes. I really want to support them, but one problem . . . I've gone two times in the last four days around 11:15am, and they were closed. As far as I know, they should be open at 11am. On Saturday, I saw a young lady come of of the door, so I walked over, and she said the owner wasn't there yet, and invited be to come back in 30 minutes. i finished my other arrands and came back 40 minutes later, and they were still not open. I parked in the lot behind the tiny restaurant and waited another 10 minutes before finally leaving. Three days later, I came by at about 11:15am again, and they still hadn't opened. I understand the challenges of a small business, but someone needs to understand the importance of opening on time! I'm not on a clock for work, but if I had been and clocked out to go for lunch, and they weren't open 20-25 minutes after they should be, I'm not sure I would ever go back. I will give them another chance, because I want to support them. I will stop by after 11:30, and hope they are open. UPDATE: I decided to give them another chance and I went by for the third time in six days. This time i waited until 11:40 because the last two times it was closer to the opening time of 11am. SHOCKER!! They were still not open, or even looking like they would be any time soon. The front door was locked, the chairs outside were still stacked and there was no sign that anyone was around. For me, that's strike three. You would think a small business would do all they could to be open on time. And if you have a valid reason for not being open, leave a small not at the door. I'm sure the food is good, but I won't waste my time driving the 4 miles to try again. Sorry ladies!

A favorite a while back was a thrift clothing shop with a bar in NoPo. They have their signature dog toppings, beer, and mixed drinks which can be made without alcohol. Hot dogs, the humble tube steak, rest on the horns of the dilemma. They are not that healthy but they use the whole animal. Sonoran hot dogs came across my radar a few years back, so sometimes I seek out new dogs. Third Coast is a hard-working one person machine. Sage takes the orders, pours the drinks, puts cross-hatch marks with a mold, grills them on an electric grill, toasts the buns, and assembles with toppings. Order at the bar, bring cash, listen for order up, self buss. We had the San Anto and the Amarillos. I think the Amarillos was more successful with the sweetness of the BBQ sauce. There is plenty of seating, and plenty of street parking. They can do vegan and gluten free.

I think we came a little late in the day on a Sunday and the bartender did not seem thrilled to have to make hot dogs. The space is open with high top stools and picnic tables, not super comfortable. Our dogs were good, but could have been grilled more or been hotter. Other pictures of dogs seem more artistic...two of them didn't have the cut marks of grill sear...
