Sandwich had good flavor. Not a traditional Philly cheese steak and was $18 for just the sandwich (no sides). Not worth the price at all. Wouldn't come back just based on value. So many great choices at the Hawthorne Asylum this won't be my recommendation to repeat. If money is no object, eat away. Plenty of outdoor seating. Some areas are covered and there are fire pits for chilly days.

I got the Chicago dog and added grilled onion and jalapeños and it was very good. Would get again.

Was okay. Filling cheesesteak. Bit soggy though and not the easiest to eat. Soft bread so if you want a firmer bread maybe skip. Good amount of meat on it though. I live nearby and love cheesesteaks so may return but not rushing back either.

    Looking forward this steak sandwich

Came in today around noon. They guy who works there is really nice. I ordered the steak Philly and fries. I got to say I have been wanting a good Philly steak sandwich for a long time now. The sandwich was pretty good. The only thing I would say is that it lacked the onions, peppers and mushrooms that you would think that would be on a Philly sandwich. I can tell you that the sandwich was super hot s d so we're the fries. The guy even gave me a free water as well. What a nice guy. After I ate I told him I really liked it and I would be back.

The cheesesteak wasn't mind blowing but it was good. I do really like the asylum food carts and the heated seating is very nice.

Solid. Know they use that red spice liberally which isn't my thing.

I went based on the recent KOIN "Cart of the Week" video. It was one of those 3.5 Star experiences. The Philly portion was ample, the bread soft and chewy. I opted for Provolone, three slices were a perfect gooey throughout. Unfortunately, they add some sort of spice that's overpowering (not hot), so I didn't finish the sandwich. Average fries were also topped with what seems to be the same spice. I will request to leave it off next time. I couldn't decide between Provolone or Whiz, so he gave me a side of the latter. Order to ready time was appropriate. It's one of the better cheesesteaks in Portland. I talked to the owner once, nice guy. The person who worked today was not into conversation, no big. I look forward to trying again, but sans that red spice.

The food was delicious. We had the cheese steak on fries and the Philly cheese steak, both were amazing and highly recommend.

Great food I had a mixed Philly cheesesteak with lamb and beef and an order of cheese fries that were both delicious .

What an awesome place to get great food. Had a fantastic experience there and will definitely be back to try more things they have to offer.

Dr Philly Cheese Steak caught our eye the last time we were at Hawthorne Asylum so we decided to give it a try the other night. I'm not going to lie I was pretty hesitant after reading mixed reviews but I honestly really enjoyed my sandwich. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak with provolone and thought it was really delicious. The bread was nice and soft and the sandwich overall was flavorful. The fries weren't bad either, kinda average but they were cooked well. I think for $11 total this was a great price for the portion you get. Highly recommend enjoying it fresh. Service was friendly and quick. We came here pretty late on a Friday night so most of the carts in HA were closed but still a decent crowd with plenty of seating.

Definitely our favorite cart at the food asylum. The food is dependable, fairly priced, and absolutely delicious. Love supporting this cart- you almost always see the owner working even though he owns multiple carts.

So I got the $6 little pleasure burger. A simple, single patty smash burger. It's everything a McDonald's burger wishes it could be - beefy and drippy, a squishy, slightly sweet bun, oozing hot grease without being heavy, lacy and crisp edges, and held together with the right amount of American cheese. It was the perfect amount for that day. Then I returned with my date. Twice. And he brought his coworkers for lunch because he liked it so much. I have had the western and the mushroom burger since, as well as the parm and chive waffle fries. They have nuggets and I'm inclined to believe they're great. The staff is great, it's a small team and they're all there every single day. They care about their product and your experience. The space is a simple counter, not good for large groups. It should be noted that even though their burgers would be great with a beer, they don't seem to have a liquor license! So don't expect an IPA with that shroom burger. Maybe someday!

IMO. This BBQ is Kansas City style, so the sauce is a bit sweeter. We got the brisket, the chicken wings, and sides. We couldn't decide if on the sauce for the wings, so we got all 3 on the side. The Alabama white sauce was A+ The brisket was perfectly tender. It had great flavor and marbling. The wings are full wings with the drummette attached. That's the way to do it! They are smoked and then fried. They got the crisp just right. Let's talk about sides! We got the collard greens, coleslaw, and baked beans. They were all FANTASTIC! The coleslaw is a vinegar coleslaw, which I love. It wasn't the sweet mayonnaise style that most people don't enjoy. It was so good! The collard greens were perfectly flavored and tender! I couldn't have done better myself. The beans were sweet but also savory. Not super sweet, which makes me happy. Very well balanced. The server was super friendly and nice. She explained everything to us and made sure we were happy. They have a bar with various beers. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Very casual but perfect for BBQ.
