I had honestly never heard of Gladstone's, but after looking at their website, I thought I'd give them a try. I really came in here with no expectations. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. I absolutely loved the atmosphere and was glad to see there was separate bar area. The breakfast menu has the typical items, but I was in the mood for the Basic Breakfast. I went with the bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, and toast. My mom decided on the Veggie Omelet. I was surprised neither of us got the Chicken Fried Steak. We both enjoyed a couple of Bloody Mary's. Always a good addition to a Sunday breakfast and they tasted great. Honestly, this was a great breakfast. The bacon and eggs were cooked perfectly. The bacon was a little thicker. It wasn't the see thru bacon you get from the chains. The hashbrown were golden brown. The omelet tasted great as well. If you're looking for higher end breakfast food on Alberta in Portland, maybe this isn't the place. But if you're looking for a good breakfast, Gladstone's doesn't disappoint. I will certainly be back to try the Chicken Fried Steak. The service here was great as well. Plus was plenty of encouragement to order more than one Bloody Mary. Enjoy!

*Updating menu photos with new items added. The new parking lot on the corner of Arlington & Portland Ave is a great addition for the restaurant. The staff is always friendly and attentive. There is inside and outside seating available. The outside seating is so nice in spring and summer. I recently noticed that there is video poker here too! The food is always great and new items are added to the menu regularly but my absolute favorite thing is that they offer clam chowder everyday. That alone brings me back again and again!

Really good food! I didn't see many breakfast reviews so took a gamble coming here for breakfast but it paid off. I'm sort of a snob about hash browns, and they came out nicely. $17 for steak and eggs, $16 for chicken fried steak. Points worth noting: gravy was flavorful; which sometimes can be a weak point on CFS, but they used enough salt and it was good! Hasbrowns were ordered as extra crispy; and they came out nicely. Could have even been more crispy but they were not soft on the outside which I appreciated. Steak is tender, medium rare is good to order it. It was quiet in here on a Sunday at 11am but we were sat quickly, and received good service. The music isn't too loud and they have lots of TVs on various sports channels.

Steak salad. I opted for balsamic instead of blue cheese dressing and added avocado. Delish!!

We used to go to the Chinese restaurant what used to be there. The decor is Much improved!! Big beautiful bar, clean and welcoming atmosphere. The food is fresh, tasty and an amazing value for the price point!! I had the steak salad, my husband had the brisket burger. Both very good!!We will be going there again!!

Lunch with friends and great to see it was busy with large groups of 8-10 people. Similar menu to Coasters as manager is Coasters owner, and daily specials; Tues $3 off both Text Mex dishes.Food was aok, fresh produce but missing the authenticity of Tex Mex flavors, more like a Cali plate Chipotle kind of plate, veggies and meat wrapped burrito $15.95. Very edible but not our kind of crave worthy, served with chips without salsa oddly. Would be a great stop to see a game though with great TV-Seat ratio, with better than normal bar food. Rockfish in the tacos were small bits of fish vs a filet or forkfuls, but at least not deep fried like most pubs. 2 Flour Tacos come with a side of esquites corn like elote but off the cob, not bad (or rice). $12 Old Fashioned Rebel 100 whiskey was a great pour as was the Pfreim IPA. Local and a great outdoor patio for less dreary weather, Gladstone's is a worthy spot for healthier pub options with fresh food.

Last Saturday my parents and I had a late breakfast/brunch at this charming restaurant. It was my first time eating here, and the food, service and atmosphere were all very charming and very comfortable. My mom and I had the pancake breakfast special. For $10 we received two eggs, bacon or sausage and two very delectable pancakes. I opted for the sausage and the texture and flavor were homemade and authentic. I didn't ask, but previous experience with breakfast sausage leads me to believe that it was homemade, or at the very least a special blend for Gladstones. The portions were more than filling, and the service and atmosphere was extremely friendly and overall the noise level was definitely within conversation range. If you're looking for a new place place to check out, you can't go wrong here. The service, location, parking and hospitality and above all food are hard to beat!

Came in here on a Friday just after the lunch rush and there were plenty of seating options. We were greeted right away and said we could sit wherever we'd like (even though there was a sign as you entered that said "Please wait to be seated"). Our greeter and server were polite, welcoming and friendly and not in a fake way. We ordered the smash burger, and shrimp tacos. The burger was a good size, not too big or small (it is a double patty, keep that in mind) but I felt the patties could have been more "smashed". It was very filling, and it was quite hot for the first couple of bites, I think because of the grilled onions. It was also greasy/messy but I think sometimes that's a sign of a good burger. Hard to go wrong on tots so not much to say there. Husband said his shrimp tacos were pretty good (seems kind of surprising since on the surface this place is a bit a "local bar"). And the esquite (elotes in a bowl) side was delicious to me, he only ordered it for me haha. The restaurant was clean, bathrooms too. There were, however, a few flies in the area we sat in that kept bothering us.

I always love the view of the river, and we especially enjoy when we get to see our housekeeper, Missy. Missy truly goes above and beyond. She always greets us warmly, checks to see if there's anything we need, and makes us feel so welcome. On our most recent stay, we originally had a room with one bed, but we usually get two because we like having the extra bed for our bags. We ended up moving rooms to the other end of the hotel. That morning, my husband had to rush off to work because he was running late, and we were quickly trying to get everything moved. Missy kindly told us not to worry or rush on her account, and that she would take care of cleaning the old room. About an hour after I got settled into the new room, there was a knock at the door--it was Missy! She had brought me two hangers I had accidentally left behind in our old room, and one of them even had my bracelet wrapped around it. I hadn't even realized I had left it behind. That small gesture meant so much to me. Missy is absolutely amazing and such an asset to the Rivershore. It's wonderful to see someone who genuinely cares about guests and goes out of her way to make sure everything is taken care of. Thank you, Missy, for always making our stays that much better! On a couple of other notes, if you enjoy gin, they have a Gompers gin made in Bend, Oregon in small batches. I don't usually drink gin, but this one is very smooth and delicious--and hard to find. Whenever we come to Oregon, we always pick up a few bottles to take back to Arizona for friends. Also, if you eat in the dining room, the sourdough bread is incredible. It has a perfectly crunchy crust and is honestly so good I could eat the whole loaf myself.

Covered seating everywhere, fire pits at nearly every table, and a massive one out front that practically dares you to grab a drink and stay awhile. Rain or shine, hot or cold, this place has you handled. It's modern, clean, and honestly punches right up there with the best food cart setups around. What used to feel a little worn now looks refreshed like it hit the reset button and came back brand new. At night, the whole place flips a switch. String lights glow, the fire pits crackle, and suddenly you're not just grabbing food--you're settling in. It's the kind of spot where you tell yourself "just one drink" and somehow end up two hours deep, debating life like a philosopher with a buzz. And the location doesn't hurt. They rearranged upstairs adding another pool table and some lounge couches. They have pushed all the tables and chairs against one shorter wall, in a line making it tight quarters and forcing you to sit next to strangers. There is no elbow room. It wasn't busy up there so I tried not to be bothered with this. Our waitress greeted us immediately. Brought our waters, menus and checked on us 3-4 times. She was great. Our food was NOT great let alone, ok! I ordered the shrimp scampi/risotto dish. It came with a side of garlic bread. My husband ordered the lemon capered chicken and my daughter the smash burger. My food and my husband's food tasted like I was eating CREAM OF SALT with garlic and the bread was even more salty. He was starving and just ate it, I only got through about half. It was so salty. My daughter said her burger was dry and tasted weird. She didn't finish it. Her fries were good. We didn't complain. We were hungry and uncomfortable being squished up like that. I just wanted to be done with the whole experience. I won't say that I'll never be back. I understand that chefs and restaurants staff are human and mistake like over salting a dish can happen. Prior to this past weekend, hadn't had a problem with food, staff or seating. However, I do hope someone in management/ownership sees my review so improvements/changes can be made. Not only with the dishes that are being served to paying customers but the seating arrangements upstairs. Those tables and chairs are far too squished together.

Verdict Bar & Grill in Oregon City is a really cool whiskey bar with a speakeasy-style atmosphere,…read moregreat drinks, and seriously impressive bartenders. I stopped in recently to pick up a to-go order and ended up sitting at the bar for a drink while I waited. I was greeted right away when I sat down and given a food menu. The place was completely slammed, but the two bartenders were absolutely dialed in. They were mixing signature cocktails, pouring wine, draft beer, and spirits nonstop while still checking in with guests. Watching them work was impressive -- the focus and efficiency looked more like professional mixologists than typical bartenders. The space itself has a great vibe. You enter from the 8th Street door and it feels like stepping into a hidden basement speakeasy. The interior is dimly lit with a huge illuminated whiskey wall. The bar is centered in the room with booths along the outside, making it a really cool date-night spot. While waiting for my food I ordered a Fort George City of Dreams Hazy IPA, which was cold and fantastic. As soon as I saw the cocktail menu though, I immediately regretted not ordering one of their house drinks -- the 8th Street Margarita looked especially good. I also noticed that all the whiskey drinks coming out had these beautiful crystal-clear 3" ice cubes, which is a great touch and shows they take their cocktails seriously. I originally came in because I've been ordering the Buffalo Mac & Cheese from their food cart about once a month for the last few years. Their Oregon City cart recently closed, so this was my first time getting it from the bar. My to-go order took about 30 minutes, which was totally understandable given how busy the place was. The staff stayed friendly and attentive the whole time. The Buffalo Mac & Cheese was still very tasty. The macaroni was great with a creamy cheese sauce and good buffalo flavor throughout. The chicken tasted like it may have been frozen at some point and was a little chewy compared to the crunchier chicken I remember from the food cart version, but overall the dish was still really good and something I'll definitely order again. Great atmosphere, skilled bartenders, solid food, and a really unique whiskey-bar vibe in Oregon City. Next time I come back I'm definitely sitting down and ordering one of those cocktails. Tip: Sit at the bar if you can -- watching the bartenders craft the drinks is half the experience.
