Chicken fried steak

Really good food! I didn't see many breakfast reviews so took a gamble coming here for breakfast but it paid off. I'm sort of a snob about hash browns, and they came out nicely. $17 for steak and eggs, $16 for chicken fried steak. Points worth noting: gravy was flavorful; which sometimes can be a weak point on CFS, but they used enough salt and it was good! Hasbrowns were ordered as extra crispy; and they came out nicely. Could have even been more crispy but they were not soft on the outside which I appreciated. Steak is tender, medium rare is good to order it. It was quiet in here on a Sunday at 11am but we were sat quickly, and received good service. The music isn't too loud and they have lots of TVs on various sports channels.

Lunch with friends and great to see it was busy with large groups of 8-10 people. Similar menu to Coasters as manager is Coasters owner, and daily specials; Tues $3 off both Text Mex dishes.Food was aok, fresh produce but missing the authenticity of Tex Mex flavors, more like a Cali plate Chipotle kind of plate, veggies and meat wrapped burrito $15.95. Very edible but not our kind of crave worthy, served with chips without salsa oddly. Would be a great stop to see a game though with great TV-Seat ratio, with better than normal bar food. Rockfish in the tacos were small bits of fish vs a filet or forkfuls, but at least not deep fried like most pubs. 2 Flour Tacos come with a side of esquites corn like elote but off the cob, not bad (or rice). $12 Old Fashioned Rebel 100 whiskey was a great pour as was the Pfreim IPA. Local and a great outdoor patio for less dreary weather, Gladstone's is a worthy spot for healthier pub options with fresh food.

Last Saturday my parents and I had a late breakfast/brunch at this charming restaurant. It was my first time eating here, and the food, service and atmosphere were all very charming and very comfortable. My mom and I had the pancake breakfast special. For $10 we received two eggs, bacon or sausage and two very delectable pancakes. I opted for the sausage and the texture and flavor were homemade and authentic. I didn't ask, but previous experience with breakfast sausage leads me to believe that it was homemade, or at the very least a special blend for Gladstones. The portions were more than filling, and the service and atmosphere was extremely friendly and overall the noise level was definitely within conversation range. If you're looking for a new place place to check out, you can't go wrong here. The service, location, parking and hospitality and above all food are hard to beat!

Came in here on a Friday just after the lunch rush and there were plenty of seating options. We were greeted right away and said we could sit wherever we'd like (even though there was a sign as you entered that said "Please wait to be seated"). Our greeter and server were polite, welcoming and friendly and not in a fake way. We ordered the smash burger, and shrimp tacos. The burger was a good size, not too big or small (it is a double patty, keep that in mind) but I felt the patties could have been more "smashed". It was very filling, and it was quite hot for the first couple of bites, I think because of the grilled onions. It was also greasy/messy but I think sometimes that's a sign of a good burger. Hard to go wrong on tots so not much to say there. Husband said his shrimp tacos were pretty good (seems kind of surprising since on the surface this place is a bit a "local bar"). And the esquite (elotes in a bowl) side was delicious to me, he only ordered it for me haha. The restaurant was clean, bathrooms too. There were, however, a few flies in the area we sat in that kept bothering us.

Happy Hour Tacos + Esquites!

If you're looking for the perfect happy hour spot in PDX, Gladstones is IT! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by some of the sweetest servers and a kick-ass bartender who knows how to keep the good vibes going. The booths are clean and comfortable, and if you're a sports fan, you'll love that they have games playing everywhere--bonus points for having women's lacrosse on! That alone had me sold. Now, let's talk about the food. The tacos and quesadilla were bright, vibrant, and packed with flavor--the chicken was seasoned to perfection with a chipotle sauce that was to die for The pulled pork sliders were fresh and tender, topped with some of the best BBQ sauce I've ever had--sweet with just the right kick. And whatever you do, don't sleep on the poutine! As a Canadian delicacy, it's not easy to get right, but they freaking nailed it!! On top of all that, their happy hour prices are some of the fairest around, making it an easy 20/10. We'll absolutely be back. If you haven't been, do yourself a favor and go!‍

Thin crusted pie straight from the menu board.

Thin crust pie, abundantly loaded with toppings right off the menu board. Pies with real ingredients tend to drip as you eat. Delicious food, we'll do this again!

Food and service are always great. New ownership has made clear improvements. This is now one of our favorite local restaurants.

Everything was great. Except they didn't have big 10 channel to watch the ducks game. Bummer.

Nice place next to the Amtrak. I have bad knees, and it was a little struggle going up the stairs…read more I am always cold and had to wear my jacket inside. We were able to sit wherever we wanted. We first chose the high seats and then moved to a lower table. The server was nice and attentive. I went in with the notion of ordering fish and chips or some sort of seafood; however, I was enticed by the prime rib, as I did not care for the type of fish they had available. I ordered the prime rib (med-well) with mashed potatoes and veggies. My friend ordered the fish and onion rings. I also ordered jalapeno hushpuppies. My friend really enjoyed her fish and onion rings. She was going to take some home for dinner, but there was nothing left to take home. My prime rib was over-heated and came out well-done and dry. I ate around the edges and picked at the potatoes. The first batch of hushpuppies that came out was still raw. The server said we were lucky cause we got a free mini corn dog. I thought we were until I ate it, and half of it was still frozen. The server took the hushpuppies back, and they cooked them a little longer. They were fully cooked when she brought them back, but they were missing one key element. There was no hint of jalapenos. You could see green specks but could not taste them. If I am ever in the area again, I will come back and try something else.

True speakeasy connected to the The Hive…read more This is a hidden gem in Oregon City and of course it should be, being that it's a speakeasy. I ordered a couple cocktails here and both were top notched. The bartender was busy but was still friendly. The vibe here is trendy and definitely a great place to bring a date. The night I came there was a live singer performing.

We were visiting family in the area and had two people in our group local to the area who had been there several times in the past. We first went and checked in and were told there was a 10-15 minute wait. The hostess was very kind, took our number and sent us to the upstairs bar to wait for a table. We were greeted by a friendly bartender who took our drink orders (cocktails and wine) and we enjoyed our beverages while chatting by the bar. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with large velvet green booths, all new, updated and well done. The drinks were all great. The downstairs hostess came upstairs to let us know our table was ready, and we paid and went downstairs. So far, we were all really happy with our experience. The prices of the drinks were all around $15-20+ but we were all okay with it given the good service (thus far), high end atmosphere, etc. There were people in there but it was a pretty mellow Saturday evening. We were given a nice large area to sit and thanked the hostess. The waitress came and was clearly a little overwhelmed but took our drink orders. I mentioned a drink my husband had upstairs and asked if I could have it, but was told they had a different menu down here and I needed to order from that menu. I looked it over while the others ordered their drinks, and when she came back to me, I asked if I could go upstairs to order the drink I wanted, and bring it down. She said sure. I put in an order for a couple food items with her, and she left. My brother in law kindly offered to go upstairs and order the drink and was gone for quite a long time. We learned that when he was upstairs, he went to the bar and mentioned I wanted a drink from his bar. The bartender's mood shifted and he said he had 10 drinks ahead of my BIL, and asked him to go downstairs to order. My BIL informed him he was told the downstairs bar didn't have the ingredients, and was sent up here. The bartender was annoyed and asked my BIL to go downstairs for 10 minutes and come back again to order. My BIL replied that he was happy to wait at the bar instead and took a seat. After a long while, the bartender curtly said that my BIL would have to pay for the drink up here, which my BIL of course agreed to. My BIL said it was very uncomfortable and the bartender was being rude (a couple sitting at the bar also mentioned this). We are guessing he was overwhelmed and didn't handle it well. He brought the drink downstairs, no problem. We were all sitting for a while and noticed that my BIL never received the beer he ordered from the waitress downstairs. And after about 45 minutes I asked about the food I had ordered (she hadn't checked in with us at all during that time, and I should mention it was not busy at all - several tables open). The waitress said she forgot to put it in. That was it. No offer to quickly put it in, no offer to comp a drink, no real apology. We asked for the bill and split it between two cards. When we got the receipts and cards back, my husband found they had given both him and his brother (the other payer) copies of my husband's receipt-so he assumed he was double charged. He went to the front to bring this to their attention and explained how he was upset by the poor service throughout the evening. He received a quick response that they had printed the receipt twice (didn't charge twice) and were short staffed that evening. We are all understanding people and my sister in law ran restaurants for years, we all had food service jobs and are sympathetic but really just disappointed in this place. I'm writing this review because the employees there just didn't seem to care about the issues we raised. They had an acoustic artist playing that evening who was phenomenal. If you go there on a different day with different staff, I'm sure you'd have a great time. But for the price and ambiance, we really expected better service.
