How have I not done my review of this place yet? Look at all those photos of delicious drinks and food. I have been here more than once because it's totally worth it. Unfortunately I don't live near by, but if I am in the area you bet I am stopping in. The staff have been friendly and make the experience possible. The food is fabulous and the drinks are even better. I also love the vibe of this place. Yes, it's a speakeasy so it should be swank and up scale but this place does it right, if you have figured out how to get in ;-) I can't rave about this place enough, you have got to try it.

We stopped at The Hardware store last night for a drink before heading home and the vibe is on point!! Such a great spot in our little town. The staff was so friendly and my espresso martini was so good!!! With all of the fun Christmas pop up Bars in Portland I really think the Hardware store should join in next year!! It's the PERFECT location!!!!

The Hardware Store is one of those places that makes you feel like you're in on a secret, even though it's right inside The Hive Social. You head through the door, down the stairs, and suddenly you're in this cozy, moody little bar that feels completely different from the restaurant upstairs. The whiskey collection is vast, so many of great options my husband loved! I noticed whiskey flights too on the menu. Cocktails are solid across the board, they had some fun smoked options! Food wise, this isn't just an afterthought bar menu, it has great options from small bites to really delicious entrees. We shared a few small plates, and everything was incredible. The whole place has this has a fun vibe that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. It's perfect for date night, a small group hang, or just sneaking away for a good drink.

I recently went back for dinner and it was delicious! They had carnitas sliders on special this month, on a brioche bun with cranberry and cole slaw. I am into everything fall flavors right now so I loved the cranberry with the meat and slaw! Their drink special is a gin and cinnamon brown sugar combination which was also delicious. I really enjoyed the meal and am glad to find another dinner spot!

I met a friend here ,probably the busiest part of the brunch service. It was about a 20 minute wait which didn't seem too bad and I had plenty of time to play catch up with my friend. This place has 3 different venues in one: Coffee Shop, Speak Easy in the basement and a restaurant. We ordered cocktails and the Bloody Mary was loaded with marinated veggies and was pretty darn tasty. I ordered a Delicata Squash roasted concoction that was so delicious, I spent all night on my phone trying to find a recipe to replicate it. It was served in a huge bowl with roasted sweet potatoes as the base, surrounded by braised Italian Kale and the delicata on top. The menu said it had toasted hazelnuts, pepitas pesto and a honey yogurt tahini sauce. I took half of it home because the portion was huge. My friend had sweet potato spice French toast made with Challah bread. It was gigantic and she barely made a dent in it. I so want to go back here, now that I see the Squash dish made it on the dinner menu and everything sounds delicious.

Great cocktails, amazing bartenders, very modern and stylish interior decor - very clean and fabulous ambiance. The vibes of this speakeasy are unmatched! Saturday nights offer live music, which we missed by just a few minutes. We regretted dinner reservations elsewhere, really wish we would have stayed for dinner. Absolutely everything we had was top notch and exceeded our expectations. Recommend skipping the anonymous negative review and give The Hardware Store a try... we were thoroughly impressed, especially considering it was hidden in Oregon City. This place exceeds some of the best speakeasys we've visited in NYC, Chicago, and abroad!

Great cocktails, great bartenders, great furniture and decor, nice and clean and warm, loungey, awesome vibes. Also live music every Saturday night, the artist didn't start until 8pm tonight on 1/18/25, but she was really good at acoustics. All of the cocktails were really great and would recommend. Have yet to try the food but will be next time we visit!

It's a whole experience. The entrance to this place really sets the scene. Decor is delightful. Each time I have came here I always enjoy my drinks from the bar. This is where I had my first espresso martini and I haven't found one that compares. Service has never really stood out to me but never negative. Perfect for a first date, a girls night or just some cocktails!

This place was almost a 5/5 for us until we got to dessert. First, the good: The place is so sick! From the way you enter, the passcode, the vibe... it just all works so well. You feel like you're part of an exclusive club. We ordered the focaccia bread, beef stroganoff and the prime rib. Highly recommend that you come on a Friday so you can take advantage of the prime rib offering. It was delicious and the truffle garlic mash and veggies that come with are excellent accompaniments. The beef stroganoff is rich and tasty as well. The bread was fine but definitely felt overpriced for $8. Now the dessert. First of all, after reading the reviews about the dessert options, we were excited to see what we could order. Our waiter delivered the bill without telling us about dessert. When we asked about it, he told us the three options. We ordered the chocolate tart and he came back a few minutes later to tell us they ran out. So we ordered the strawberry cobbler. Clearly, this restaurant needs assistance with naming their desserts because we got a dense cake not a cobbler. There were only strawberries on the side of the dessert and not in the "cobbler". It was served in a cast iron mini pan but it was cold? It was just awful. Thankfully, they removed it from our bill since we couldn't stomach it but needless to say, we were very confused by the dish. Overall, would definitely come back but would steer clear of any desserts

The place is wonderful, I speak highly of it and tell anyone and everyone about the place. Once had Sarah as my barkeep the last couple of times. She's is outstanding, her drinks are and she's great. I had Mel, I believe, my first two times in and she was great. I apologize I don't know the young man that is the front of the house greeter he's a like gent. The chef does a great job. The staff as a whole are wonderful. I apologize I do not know the other lovely lady behind the bar my last time but she been there I believe a couple of my visits and was wonderful too. The live music nights, the music in general, the feel, the ambiance when the whole place is full is amazing. I am glad I found out about this establishment and I drive from Beaverton to visit. I'm also a proud member! Thank you all! I do want to add the seasonal change on the menu is wonderful. There are zero proof options with liquors that are 0% I appreciate that if I'm not up for a full cocktail. Lastly they have THE BEST espresso martinis, if you love them ask! I had both bartenders make me one and they did it different and both were amazing. I could see the face of the drink, thank you again!

Omg what a fun place! In the spirit of a Speakeasy Yes: you will need to provide a passcode before you can enter. Seriously! No: I will not tell you the passcode! But, if you look carefully enough, you will find a clue in the vestibule! Note to self: * Come back here * Explore more of Oregon City

I always love the view of the river, and we especially enjoy when we get to see our housekeeper, Missy. Missy truly goes above and beyond. She always greets us warmly, checks to see if there's anything we need, and makes us feel so welcome. On our most recent stay, we originally had a room with one bed, but we usually get two because we like having the extra bed for our bags. We ended up moving rooms to the other end of the hotel. That morning, my husband had to rush off to work because he was running late, and we were quickly trying to get everything moved. Missy kindly told us not to worry or rush on her account, and that she would take care of cleaning the old room. About an hour after I got settled into the new room, there was a knock at the door--it was Missy! She had brought me two hangers I had accidentally left behind in our old room, and one of them even had my bracelet wrapped around it. I hadn't even realized I had left it behind. That small gesture meant so much to me. Missy is absolutely amazing and such an asset to the Rivershore. It's wonderful to see someone who genuinely cares about guests and goes out of her way to make sure everything is taken care of. Thank you, Missy, for always making our stays that much better! On a couple of other notes, if you enjoy gin, they have a Gompers gin made in Bend, Oregon in small batches. I don't usually drink gin, but this one is very smooth and delicious--and hard to find. Whenever we come to Oregon, we always pick up a few bottles to take back to Arizona for friends. Also, if you eat in the dining room, the sourdough bread is incredible. It has a perfectly crunchy crust and is honestly so good I could eat the whole loaf myself.

They rearranged upstairs adding another pool table and some lounge couches. They have pushed all the tables and chairs against one shorter wall, in a line making it tight quarters and forcing you to sit next to strangers. There is no elbow room. It wasn't busy up there so I tried not to be bothered with this. Our waitress greeted us immediately. Brought our waters, menus and checked on us 3-4 times. She was great. Our food was NOT great let alone, ok! I ordered the shrimp scampi/risotto dish. It came with a side of garlic bread. My husband ordered the lemon capered chicken and my daughter the smash burger. My food and my husband's food tasted like I was eating CREAM OF SALT with garlic and the bread was even more salty. He was starving and just ate it, I only got through about half. It was so salty. My daughter said her burger was dry and tasted weird. She didn't finish it. Her fries were good. We didn't complain. We were hungry and uncomfortable being squished up like that. I just wanted to be done with the whole experience. I won't say that I'll never be back. I understand that chefs and restaurants staff are human and mistake like over salting a dish can happen. Prior to this past weekend, hadn't had a problem with food, staff or seating. However, I do hope someone in management/ownership sees my review so improvements/changes can be made. Verdict Bar & Grill in Oregon City is a really cool whiskey bar with a speakeasy-style atmosphere,…read moregreat drinks, and seriously impressive bartenders. I stopped in recently to pick up a to-go order and ended up sitting at the bar for a drink while I waited. I was greeted right away when I sat down and given a food menu. The place was completely slammed, but the two bartenders were absolutely dialed in. They were mixing signature cocktails, pouring wine, draft beer, and spirits nonstop while still checking in with guests. Watching them work was impressive -- the focus and efficiency looked more like professional mixologists than typical bartenders. The space itself has a great vibe. You enter from the 8th Street door and it feels like stepping into a hidden basement speakeasy. The interior is dimly lit with a huge illuminated whiskey wall. The bar is centered in the room with booths along the outside, making it a really cool date-night spot. While waiting for my food I ordered a Fort George City of Dreams Hazy IPA, which was cold and fantastic. As soon as I saw the cocktail menu though, I immediately regretted not ordering one of their house drinks -- the 8th Street Margarita looked especially good. I also noticed that all the whiskey drinks coming out had these beautiful crystal-clear 3" ice cubes, which is a great touch and shows they take their cocktails seriously. I originally came in because I've been ordering the Buffalo Mac & Cheese from their food cart about once a month for the last few years. Their Oregon City cart recently closed, so this was my first time getting it from the bar. My to-go order took about 30 minutes, which was totally understandable given how busy the place was. The staff stayed friendly and attentive the whole time. The Buffalo Mac & Cheese was still very tasty. The macaroni was great with a creamy cheese sauce and good buffalo flavor throughout. The chicken tasted like it may have been frozen at some point and was a little chewy compared to the crunchier chicken I remember from the food cart version, but overall the dish was still really good and something I'll definitely order again. Great atmosphere, skilled bartenders, solid food, and a really unique whiskey-bar vibe in Oregon City. Next time I come back I'm definitely sitting down and ordering one of those cocktails. Tip: Sit at the bar if you can -- watching the bartenders craft the drinks is half the experience.
