We stopped in at Echo Inn thinking we might find a good burger or typical "bar food" and we discovered seafood night instead! This spot offers an unexpected menu with everything from steaks, seafood, chicken, sandwiches and more. One of my new favorites is their French dip. So good! Everything we've order has been delicious. Everything is flavorful, well prepared, and served fresh and hot. On nights that they offer seafood or other "special" items it's a limited amount so they'll run out of some things pretty early. Get there for an early dinner if you can. Service is a little hit and miss. We've been in on days that our server was amazing and super friendly and other days that a server barely glanced our direction and never even came to our table. I think a couple of them really focus on their known regulars and less on people they don't immediately recognize. It's a very small dining area with limited seating but there are a few tables outside in a covered area as well. Several video poker machines are available if that's your thing. There's lots of parking, just be careful on your stroll to the door along Hwy 224. Cars are moving fast and focused on making the light more than where you might be walking on the side of the road. It's even a little more sketchy when the summer rafter start hitting the area. Overall, excellent food can be found here and is totally worth checking out. Driven past this spot for years. Finally decided to give it a try. Not totally what we were expecting. Parking is a little awkward as you park on the side of the road. Walked in to a pretty tiny bar with a very few tables. Half a dozen video poker machines. There is a covered patio. It was pretty cold and one table had multiple smokers. Some ganja was being consumed also. Ate inside. Fairly noisy, however it is a small bar. They have daily specials, today being smoked brisket. Meal came. Brisket was pretty good. Tender though not real smoky. Small corn cob was pretty soft from overcooking. Scalloped potatoes were OK. Just seemed like sliced potatoes with cheese melted on them in the microwave. Toast was fine. Extreme small kitchen. Surprised they can put out so much food from such a tiny area. Service was good and friendly. This business overtly discriminates against those with disabilities. My service dog joins me everywhere - federal buildings, airplanes, work, the whole 9 yards. He assists me with a disability. This is normal. When I arrived here at 10:15pm, I went inside to get a single beer - dog in tow. I just wanted to sit at the bar, which was empty. The bartender let me know that I'd have to sit outside because I brought a dog in. I assured her that this is a service dog, who helps me with a disability, and that he accompanies me everywhere. She nodded and said that I'd have to sit outside. I informed her that under Federal law I have the right to sit wherever I want, with or without the dog. She nodded and cracked what could only be referred to as a smile, and she said that I'd have to sit outside - "it's the owner's policy." I guess it's also the owner's policy to hire stupid toothless bartenders. I went out to the echo inn for breakfast on Monday March 23rd and I ordered the biscuits and gravy breakfast with sausage links over easy eggs I noticed the cook he did my biscuits in the microwave and then put them on the grill so I told the bartender right away that I don't like brown biscuits when I got my breakfast the biscuits were browned my sausages were undercooked and I cooked eggs were not cooked over easy they were over hard I sent the eggs back I sent the sausage back I was really hungry so I started eating I noticed the biscuits were still Brown even though I ordered them not that way and then my sausages came out when I was almost done eating when I went to pay I told the bartender that they need to get a breakfast cook out here and then she started on with me about being a dick I was going to take a drink off of your tab but since you want to be a dick about it and kind of went on and on about it and I was not being a dick if I was being a dick I would have raised my voice which I did not do and I don't like her attitude she's back there talking to the Cook about her personal life I could hear her airing out her personal life with a cook which is very unprofessional and I think she might be the manager which she needs to be replaced she's not professional doesn't belong in a restaurant read more

Food is always , very "home style" cooking. It's good! It's definitely a hole in the wall dive bar local joint but they're always friendly and we get good service . It is VERY LOUD with loads of video poker machines and music and loud intoxicated people. It's not pretentious at all and old fashioned. Get the potato salad! read more

Great food! One of my favorites is the club. It is KILLER!!!! I usually spread it out over two meals. Today, the hubby and I tried the tacos. We ordered a dozen to go, thinking they were tiny tacos like most places (tortillas the size of small pancakes), but, these tacos are real tacos! We could have ordered half as many and been filled up (Woohoo! Leftovers do dinner tonight!). These tacos also have REAL cheese, great flavor, and they don't skimp on the meat. Monday night prime rib special was really, really good, but make sure to call prior to your arrival to reserve a cut. We lucked out and got the last cut of the night at 4:45 pm. A lot to say but none of it good. Rude staff, poor service. Very disappointed. I have spoke to Shelly about the incidents and she just seems to have an attitude of "not my problem" it was very disappointing, so no wonder staff is able to get away with tactless behavior. This place is more for those who fit in with the staff, no newcomers. If you want a peaceful meal and drink with good people, I recommend The Carver hangar, right across the street. As with my favorite places, I have mixed feelings about writing a review. On the one hand, I want to write the positive review because the place deserves good business and I hope the workers and owners will last for quite a long time. On the other hand, I am a little selfish and enjoy visiting the places I like without the SRO or lines out the door. However, I must write a review for this place because it is the right thing to do - the place deserves it! Okay, so I recently relocated to Troutdale from Cambridge, MA. My father wanted to take me to this place because of the daily specials (and the food in general). I missed Monday Prime Rib night (I think it is Monday prime rib night). So, we went on Wednesday for pork rib night. We got to the place...pretty empty due to the weather outside - crappy rain night. We sat at the table and the server came over (wish I knew his name - super friendly). He mentioned that they were out of pork ribs - but had beef ribs that night. We ended up getting the beef ribs and some other food (french dip for my father and I had the grilled chicken caesar salad). Personally, I like beef ribs more than pork ribs - call me a fool. Let's talk about the ribs - WOW! So good. Was so impressed with the flavor, the meat-i-ness, and the sauce - sticky and sweet (like the Def Leopard song...wait, no, never mind). After raving about the ribs, another customer (Justin - who is a mason) and the other server, Cecilia (sorry if I spelled your name incorrectly) told us if we enjoyed the beef ribs, then come back for the pork ribs. Bigger, better - like the Six-million dollar man (back when that was a lot of money). Needless to say, my father and me have already planned our next Wednesday dinner. So, to end this before drooling on my already drooled-on shirt, the place is fantastic. The waitstaff was super friendly and attentive. The other customers were very nice. The atmosphere of the restaurant was casual and laid back. Beers on tap were good - nice range, hefeweissen to IPA to a Porter (wish they had more beers on tap, but they cover the basics). Looking over their menu, I could come back every night for a daily special. I could go on about this, but better to check this place out for yourself. Great food, great people, and great atmosphere. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that I have only been there once and would like to see/eat more (sorry, but I am one of those). Also, the place is kind of small (does have outdoor seating I think, but not a good choice when it is raining) - I am sure on a better weather night, this place is packed with locals - which is a good thing, but can be a little off-setting for me. My boyfriend and I found 2 seats at the bar and browsed the menu (even though the sirloin special sounded excellent). I ordered the steak and blue cheese salad, and my boyfriend ordered the sirloin special. Delicious and lots of food! The staff are friendly, as are the patrons that we chatted with.
