I have been a long resident of Gladstone and coming to Stanleys Corner for years specifically for the Big Duke (Chicken Fried Stead and sides). I remember when this use to be Megellans. I gave them a pass on their Chicken Fried Steak a few months ago but just recently ordered it again. This classic dish has be demolished. The Ruben was decent I wish the bread was toasted better but it was still solid 8.5 out of 10. Grungy atmosphere, there was only a handful of people and the service wasn't great, my husband got food but I didn't because it was expensive for things that looked unimpressive being brought to others tables. It seems to be a local bar hotspot more than a restaurant. We are not bar people, we were trying local food spots to see if we could find new regular spots. We didn't, but could see why other people might enjoy it, it seemed local, lowkey and comfy for people who normally come in, as the server was friendly with others that looked to be regulars, she wasn't unkind to us, just busy with the regulars. since Stanley's was sold, they got some really bad reviews. We didn't go back today and today we were so surprised on how the new owners are stepping up making things so much better. The food was great. The service was astronomical and they are putting so much more love into the place little by little it takes time to come back from the junk. We love this place and have been coming here for a long time but tonight we were waited on by a very rude woman with long straight black hair I did not get her name it was the first time seeing her there ,she hardly came to our table and when we asked for the ticket it to almost 30 minutes for her to come back ,and this was around 8:00 ,and my little granddaughter was tired we were all tired ,I will never sit where she is waitressing again . Comfort food with a few surprises in store for you here at Stanley's Corner. I went for the mondo chilli cheeseburger with tater tots, I was impressed. Before I had a bite, the plate showing up almost overflowing was quite the entrance. The chili is made with chunks of beef, not ground beef, very tender and flavorful. It's mild, so either order it without fear or ask them to bring some hot sauce to go with it. Did I mention there was a lot of food? Couldn't eat it all. The burger was equally tender and flavorful. The wife went for the grilled chicken with mushrooms and cheese. She reported it to also be very good, tender and moist. She went for the salad as her side and echoes other reviewers, generous size and a nice variety to lettuce, tomatoes, olives, cucumber slices and cheese. This place is no slave to recent (last 4 decades) trends in decore, lighting or even comfortable seating. The service is very professional, better than I would expect at this price point. The two of us were out of there for under $25 before tip. Wary of an earlier review about the water, I tried it prepared to switch to something else and could not find and objectionable taste or odors. A few surprises you say? Chicken Cordon Bleu, nachos so big they will fill a party of four, fish and chips that I hope to try on my next visit. Steak bites as an appetizer that other friends are recommending. The staff was so nice and attentive. The food...... absolutely bangin. Everything was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. This was a random stop at last minute. since the new owners bought the place they have decided to purchase food of lesser quality and raised some prices to make more profit, also they have cut hours for the staff. I used to like the chicken fried steak and what they sell now is like cheap processed mush meat. the dining room needs to be cleaned and updated. half of the chairs are about to fall apart they need to do something to deaden the noise when they have about 25 percent occupancy it gets very loud. also they are in the process of updating the bar, working during the day and disturbing the customers. thi work should be done at night when they are closed. Stanley's Corner is about as old as I am and we're both in need of repairs. The mini nacho proved once again it's a bigger man than I and the beer is cold from the taps. If they had fresh salsa instead of bottles stuff it'd be near perfect. I recommend regardless. I have had breakfast twice at Stanley's corner. The service was great. And the food was excellent. I ordered the Stanley's breakfast. Scrambled eggs how I like them, hash browns that were perfectly browned, generously sized and crispy strips of bacon, and sour dough toast and jelly. A pot of hot coffee readily available on my table, to top it off. A traditional breakfast that was surprisingly good. So good, I went back a week later. It was obvious while there, that they had a number of regular customers. The outside is not flashy, looks can be deceiving. The food was excellent. I will be going back again and again. We arrived at 4:30 pm to get an early dinner. Plenty of seats here in a Wednesday afternoon/evening. Mom ordered the mini nacho and I ordered a medium rare New York steak. It took a while for dinner to be prepared...mom was anxious about the waiting time. ;-). Her mini nacho was plenty for here with a doggy box to go. My steak was average quality, but cooked perfectly. back in the 80s Stanleys Corner was neck in neck with High Rocks pub in the flavor of famous super nacho. The taco Salads were also one of the best. Well what can I say this is a great little joint that Im sure has been around forwever! When you walk in and the tavern smell (sour beer and deep fryers) you know your either in for a treat, or in for a treat! This is in my opinion a dive bar with dinner service. We ate in the bar and ordered the famous nachos and let me tell you you only need to roder one for the table and it was huge and was really gooooood! My wife ordered a chicken and swiss burger kinda sandwich with soup and she loved it. The Drinks are strong and the service was on par. We always go to Stanleys for the nachos which are large and delicious. We thought we'd try something else. DON'T! Awful Philly sandwich with absolutely no flavor and fried appetizers with oil squirting out. Yuck. The drinks were half strength, just mixer. The waitstaff and bartender were one and the same, and the cook was serving and cooking by herself. Loud obnoxious girls at the bar, who seemed to only escalate the longer we sat. I have been going to Stanley's for over 10 years. It has always been a place I've enjoyed with delicious food and drinks. Unfortunately my last experience was horrible and I had to walk out before my appetizer even arrived. My boyfriend and I ordered drinks and they have a new bartender. Well the new bartenders best friend has a crush on my boyfriend and doesn't like me because of so. When we got our drinks my boyfriend's whiskey and coke was in a tall glass with ice, a straw, and all coke no whiskey. My tic tac was in a short glass with no ice, no Red Bull, hardly any vodka and no straw. I asked our waitress to have them redone and asked if she could do it because I had a feeling the bartender messed up the order on purpose. Unfortunately she does not have her liquor license and could not. She went up to the bartender and asked her to remake them and I could see the bartender bickering with our waitress and laughing at us. I watched her pour a splash of whiskey in my boyfriends drink and a splash of red bull in mine and they were brought back to us the exact same. I apologized to our waitress and told her we were just going to leave and didn't want to continue to deal with this all evening. As we walked out the bartender popped her head up and yelled at us. So if someone there doesn't like you, you're service will be ruined because of it. I'm very disappointed in the lack of maturity and professionalism. Im sure our waitress was not happy to miss out on her tip as well. We use to come to Stanley's Corner for breakfast a while back but stopped when it seemed that they changed up some of the recipes. We loved the chicken fried steak back then but it does not seem the same anymore. I needed to take my son for lunch while waiting for his state testing to resume at the local library. Stanley's was the closest and most familiar option. I am not sure why but the water at Stanley's has always tasted so bad. Maybe they have never cleaned the lines. It has a moldy, dirty flavor. Avoid it. We had a very sweet waitress who handled the very unpleasant patron next to us. Such a rude and vulgar lady whom the waitress remained polite to all the same. The poor waitress deserves a metal for patience. A simple order of kids mac and cheese and chicken strips for us. I have not had myself, but have seen the famous nachos served on a pizza pan. They are huge, all of the portions here are large. Our lunch was out of the box and frozen bag. The chicken strips were at the higher end of quality of frozen chicken strips but nothing amazing. The fries are super crispy and remind me a little of McDonald's fries but with skin on. The fry oil tastes pretty clean. I do remember very good breakfast sausages though. read more

It's a little dingy and feels like a bowling alley restaurant (remember those?). It's is clean, there is a huge amount of seating areas. The bar area, not including the belly-up area, is greatly separated from the family dining area. Their seems to be little to none turnover with staff - meaning you might get a little bit of a Norm from Cheers feeling. It's a great place for family dining or secluded bar time with friends. They have pool tables, video poker, ample TVs and an outdoor, partially covered smoking area. I have never felt like I was in a bar while dining with my kids. My kids love their food. So does my mother. That alone is unheard of. Their lunch specials are $6-7 dollars for a hefty portion with soup or salad. The cook staff accommodates non-menu items. I order the open face turkey sandwich every single time, despite it's not always on the menu. I have never had a cup of soup here that I disliked. Why 4 instead of 5? Limited parking on busy hours but it's on the bus line. read more
