Hell yes! Dirty Grimy bar with kick ass nachos! This place is totally a no frills restaurant/bar. If you're looking for nice linen and cool ambiance look else where. The food is good and semi-cheap. I have never had anything other than the nachos but when nachos are served on a pizza platter you can't go wrong. All the wait staff is super friendly and approachable. We don't go here often but when we do we always have a good time. Oh and pitchers of coors lite on the cheap! Comment and let me know what you think. read more

I ordered the ribeye, which was just so so. However, the chicken-fried steak was awesome--a gigantic, artery-clogging, beast smothered in a deliciously down-home sausage gravy (see photo). Had dinner here and although I have been here before it has been a long time. I ordered the chicken fried steak dinner and thought the price was perhaps a little high but then that was before the plate came. I chose a salad as my side and when it came I was impressed with its content and size. I have been to many places that offer a dinner salad that's not very big and has one to three different things in it. My main plate came and I couldn't believe how much food was piled in it. I am a decent size guy with a big appetite and as I tried to plow through this I could not finish and now have a serving to go with breakfast tomorrow. I came in tonight and the place was insanely busy! However one of the bartenders/server Brittney (mentioned she was new) was busting her butt and making sure me and everyone else in the bar area was happy and taken care of. Very friendly with a smile on her face all while running! I come here every now and then but never during the evenings, usually just for breakfast. I can't believe this outdated bar gets that much business on a Saturday BUT the food is good so I can see why. And clearly the service! So I got a call from my friends today that were at Stanley's Corner to come join them. I've been there three or four times in the last several weeks. I sat down with my friends and after several minutes of waiting the server came up to me and told me I was barred from that restaurant. I've never been kicked out of a bar in my life, I asked why and she would not answer. It ends up being the fact that my son had dated Erica the owners daughter over 10 years ago. When I went up to the bar Erica scurried into the kitchen like a mouse because she didn't have the guts to tell me to my face why. My friends were pretty pissed off too and one of them is a regular there (Scott) and he texted her father the owner and he seem to be pretty upset over that. Obviously my whole group left and none of us will be going back there. Hey Erica it's been over 10 years get over it. Too bad Erica made somebody else do her dirty work. Besides that the place does smell like mold and the men's bathroom has a very strong nasty urine odor. You guys lost several local regulars good luck with your future. read more

Then the chips and vegetables are packaged separately, so you basically make it yourself?!?! WTF? Have you heard of doing it on some foil in a freaking pizza box?! We have lived near here for over 3 years, and have never gone in. To be honest, it looks like a hole in the wall from the outside. Inside, it's spacious and kitschy cute. My father went in a few weeks ago and got a kid's omelette meal. (He is 90 and doesn't eat much, so that works out perfectly for him!) He loved it! We decided to get an order to go today. I got one piece of French toast and he got his omelette. There are no prices on the menu online, so I was very surprised to see that it was 5 dollars for one piece of French toast! The reason for the 2 stars is because of the price and the fact that my dad said the food wasn't near as good as his first time. It's important to have the same quality of food each and every time, IMO. We won't be back. read more

Have eaten here several times over the past few years since moving to Gladstone and have enjoyed it every time. When we went inside and sat down service was good and waitress was attentive. We have also ordered food to go, which has always been just as good as when you sit in the restaurant. I can say that we have never had a truly "bad" experience and will continue to return. As for the menus online, I spoke with someone there and they said that they are not responsible for the menus on sites like menupix and allmenus, as they officially have NO ONLINE menu available. Yes the prices have gone up since those were posted, yes most of the items on there are still available, but if you are looking at prices from a 3rd party site you really have no right to complain about the price since it was not posted by them. read more

I want to preface this by saying that if it weren't for the super nacho...it would be 1 star...the super nacho is, well...there is really no other reason this place is open. I am not going to go into a lot of detail...simply going to list the problems: 1) roof leaks...on you, on your food. 2) $8 for some itty-bitty-weak-ass-no-meat-havin-not-even-spicy (hell hardly even warm temperature-wise) wings that literally come with nothing...so sauce, no veggies, no fries, nothing. 3) $1 for extra dressing...or extra anything really....you want sour cream, dipping sauce, whatever...gunna upcharge. 4) you get your own refills...which they don't tell you until you have to hunt them down to ask for a refill to which their response is to point towards the bathroom area where there is what looks like a server station with a soda machine. 5) it can take up to 5 minutes for the servers to stop chatting long enough to figure out you are there or that you need something. No joke...totally oblivious to the fact that they are there to do a job...unless you happen to be sitting AT the bar. Don't get me wrong, I like me some hole-in-the-wall joints...they often have the best food. This hole-in-the-wall boasts their super nacho...but nothing else. Needless to say...considering I don't eat nachos any longer (which is sad because they do have a killer frickin nacho)...I will likely never return...after 4 years of really trying to find some other redeeming quality to this hole. read more

So, there's not a lot of nice places to eat here in a 5 mi radius. The 2 stars is for the food, and nothing else. Service - seat yourself. Waited a few minutes and did a lot of obvious neck craning but the waitress took her time doing...whatever...first before bringing our menus. Ordered the food and it took FOREVER to come - and there was hardly anyone else in the restaurant. I have no idea what they were doing. Ambiance - Ummm, typical dark, dingy sports bar with TVs hanging from the ceiling and lottery on another screen. This restaurant has seen better days. Food: Got the Nachos - and yes, it really is very filling. My hubby got the medium sized one and even with sharing it with our boy, he was still stuffed and had a bit left over. Someone ordered the Reuben - I didn't try it but it looked fantastic and I wished I ordered it instead. Another ordered the cordon bleu - I'd skip that one. Both came with a side salad which was big with everything but the kitchen sink thrown on top. The spaghetti was good - but nothing fantastic about it. Great value for the price. Recommendation: If you're close and you've got a lot of macho guys who want to hang out and watch the game - go here and order the nachos, otherwise I think the other chain restaurant down the road (Shari's) is a better bet. read more

The very first time I ever had a nacho was about 22 years ago and this was the place. I remember the cheesy goodness mixed with crab and it was to die for. I haven't been back since...and I'm not even sure why. Especially since I live in the area and drive by the place probably a dozen times a week. They no longer offer crab nachos but they do have beef, chicken and veggie options. The Super Nacho is $17.95 and described as enough to stuff two or feed four. They had a small version for $11.95 and a mini version for $7.50. Of course the chicken option is a bit more and the veggie a bit less. My friend and I had a coupon to use so got the small version PLUS a chicken quesadilla and cocktails. My Long Island Iced Tea was not very good at all. It tasted like the premixed version and didn't have any sweet and sour. My friend ordered a Malibu and pineapple. Her drink was delicious. While waiting for our food we had a chance to glance around and noticed that every occupied table had at least one nacho on it. Some had more than one. Obviously Stanley's is HOME OF THE FAMOUS SUPER NACHO for a reason. The quesadilla came out first and was very tasty. It was nice and crunchy on the outside and the chicken was shredded and seasoned well. The flavor was great. However, it had way too much cheese. You know when you bite into a huge gooey mass of cheese and it just sort of gums up in your mouth? Well that was the deal-e-o with the quesadila. It was way tasty but a couple of times I almost gagged on the cheese. The nacho came out and was very large. I'm glad we ordered the small! Again it was tasty and had the same shredded seasoned chicken. The cheese wasn't as much of an issue on the nacho but they certainly didn't skimp on it. They don't short you on the chips either. Though we did a pretty good job of polishing off the 'guts' of the nacho, we only ate about half the chips. I felt like the food was okay, the atmosphere was okay and my drink was not good. This place has been home of the famous monster nachos since before it was Stanley's, and even before it was Magellan's, which dates back to at least the early 90s. The most distinguishing feature of said nachos is their sheer abundance. A veritable avalanche of stock items await you (canned olive slices, iceberg lettuce, etc). At least they are not skimpy with the (sysco?) guac and sour cream. I don't think it's risking starting WWIII to proclaim that the two items that you should never, ever run out of FIRST on your nacho platter, is chips or queso. Those are the essential building blocks and w/o either, sorry, you have no nachos. At Stanley's, you will never have to worry about running out of chips or queso too early! A word about the clientele: this is all neighborhood bar, all the time. The last time I was there (just recently, actually) I was charmed to be chatted up by a senior lady who is a regular there and lives right by the joint. She was married just after WWII, in 1946 and is now a widow after 60 years of hearing the love of her life snore. She can be seen feeding the juke box @ The Corner frequently. Her favorites include Sinatra, Elvis, the Four Tops, and (believe it or not), old Wacko Jacko. She was a delight, and by no means out of the norm of what I've experienced @ Stanley's. If the place wasn't so far outta the way for me nowadays, I'd definitely stop by more often; now it's just on the way during occasional trips to Coastal, or Fisherman's Marine. read more

This place is really going downhill. The new owners treat this place like their personal hangout and not a place of business. The owners actually reserve the best pub tables in the back with the flat screens so they can sit and drink. I went in on a Sunday walked past the "reserved owner tables" and went to the back, me and my wife waited 15min (no joke) before I got up walked to the bar and grabbed my own menu's, I literally walked right past the owners to do so.. After another 10 min the waitress headed our way but not before she stopped to B.S with owners for a bit. I have been driving past this establishment for over 3 years and finally decided to give them a try for lunch. Ordered their Philly Cheesesteak sandwich which was a good sized sandwich and very good and came a huge portion of tater tots, which were the most perfectly cooked tots that I have ever been served at a restaurant. I've been here a handful of times. I think I continue going back because it's close. The food is alright, some good, some not. The service is usually decent but sometimes I get a lazy chick that hates her job. The booth seating is in serious need of a cleaning which is unfortunate for me because I prefer a booth. I haven't gone wrong with breakfast here, they serve up a good portion (especially with the chicken fried steak) and it's tasty. The lunch is 50-50, I like the burgers but the sandwiches are very mediocre. Ordered some of the "famous nachos" to go the other night and I found it odd that it came in 2 containers and a bag of chips. The server gave directions on how to build it.... I'll just make nachos at home next time. So anyway, for me, Stanley's is a cozy dive with okay food that's fairly priced. It isn't great but it isn't bad either. read more

Service was good in the beginning when we 1st order our food and drinks but afterwards waiting to get a box for our left overs and the check took over 30 minutes after eating our meal. There were only 2 waitresses working at the time with an average of 25 people in the bar/restaurant. I've lived in Gladstone for over 8 years now and have been going to Stanley's Corner since I moved here. I have had everything from burgers to fish n' chips and salads..but I must say that you HAVE to go on a FRIDAY night and have the clam chowder. I know I know....really, clam chowder at a random nacho and burger place? Yes!!! I have had a lot of clam chowder in my life and I can say this is in the top 1% of chowder I've ever had. It's made from scratch each Friday. While sometimes it can take a little while to get your food, it's only because the place is busy. Our server was Justin and he was very great at his job and has excellent customer service. It was very upsetting though to watch the owners daughter walk around not helping as there was a full dining room of customers and he ran around doing everything while she stood there talking to people and watched him help everyone. Maybe instead of sitting there picking your ass, you could help out your employees when there's a full house.
