The Third Place is currently my favorite place for Korean Fried Chicken. I've been here twice already and I'm already eager to go back! My favorite has got to be the original. It's so crunchy and flavorful and addictive. Honey garlic chicken was also really good! The yangnyum chicken (sweet and spicy) can certainly get very spicy! I thought I was pretty good with spice, but a level 2 had me tap out. Maybe start with level 1 unless you're really certain you can handle any spice! The portions are actually quite big so if you get multiple flavors, it's best to share! If you have lots of leftovers, no problem, because it's so delicious the next day! read more

KFC for the win! Everything else was meh. We came here for lunch, and overall, winner winner chicken dinner...or lunch. Really, it's one of the best Korean fried chicken spots around. So I do believe The Third Place is worth checking out for that and perhaps that alone. Third Place is currently allowing dine-in, which was nice since we were craving some traditional Korean dishes, in addition to the famous KFC. The menu had much to choose from, with many different kinds of dishes - and a lot of them included banchan, which is always a plus. However, note that later on for dinner service, they do not offer some of these dishes. My boyfriend ordered the hot stone bi-bim-bap while I had the beef broth soup. Both of these dishes came with banchan. We also shared the half and half chicken, which was half fried and half yangnyum. The bi-bim-bap and beef broth soup came out first. My boyfriend wasn't all that impressed with his dish, as there was very little beef and it was mostly rice above anything else in this dish. My beef broth soup was very bland, even with the added salt. I mean, maybe it's good if you have the flu and need some piping hot, clear liquid, but I was not impressed. Fortunately when the chicken came, it really saved the day. The half and half chicken was a great way to try both the fried and yangnyum chicken pieces. Chicken pieces were meaty, with a perfect crispy fry. The yangnyum was not spicy; I'd say it was more sweet from the sauce. The fried chicken was solid and even without it being marinated in a sauce, it was still very good. KFC is where to go at Third Place. All in all, I was glad we came here, to discover the chicken. But I was disappointed in the other items we ordered. This isn't my favorite Korean restaurant around town, but I would come back for the KFC. read more

Got the Half and Half Chicken and Tofu Soup. Banchan was the highlight of the meal, variety and taste were both great. Chicken - Wasn't that crispy which I'm surprised about when reading other reviews, there just wasn't a crunch to the original, the other Yangnyum was fine, sweet but not spicy at all. Tofu Soup - absolutely would not recommend, they asked spicy level from 1-3, we choose 2/medium. There was no flavor to it, better off getting elsewhere or even heading to hmart to get the instant pack. read more

This place is a hidden gem! While at the Marymoor dog park and feeling hungry.... looking for a good place to order some takeout. We ordered the wings half and half with medium spice (a bit spicy for me) but overall chicken was outstanding! Also ordered creamy pork udon and some sides. We enjoyed every bite! We even had to drive home(15 mins), so didn't think the chicken would be hot and crunchy but it was tasty! Their menu has lots of good options for every kind of eater. Yummy lunches too. Disclaimer: I only ordered one dish and it was to go. I passed by the restaurant and was enticed by the smell of fried food. I ended up ordering the creamy onion fried chicken to go. It took 10-15 minutes for my order to complete. I think normally the dish would be dressed with the sauce and raw onions, but they kept it separate for takeout. They gave so many onions!! I actually really appreciated having the sauce and onions separated too because I could limit my raw onion intake. The sauce was sweeter than I was imagining it would be, but it was delicious, and the chicken was fried quite nicely (definitely chopped up pieces of chicken thigh or similar, not chicken wings). The flavor was much better with the raw onions, but I still have a ton left over. I'm using the rest of my raw onions to grill for tomorrow haha. I have driven and walked past this place so many times and didn't know what I was missing by not trying them. Recently I saw some great reviews online and decided to try them. I got 1/2 and 1/2 chicken and sweet potato fries. 1/2 and 1/2 chicken as the name suggests comes with 1/2 fried chicken, 1/2 Yangnyum chicken. I liked that they seperate the 2 types of chicken while packing so that they don't mix. Also, my box with the chicken was closed, meaning the chicken didn't steam and get soggy by the time I got back home. I love Underground Kitchen and Shin Sung in Federal Way. I figured I would never try this place because it's basically the same restaurant(s) but really far up north. Anyhow, I still ended up here one day and I was surprised to find that they offer some different menu items! I ordered the hot stone bibimbap and it was SO good. It came out sizzling and the rice touching the hot stone became nice and crispy which added great texture to an already delicious dish. I don't think I've ever had a bad bibimbap before, and this one was pretty standard otherwise. I just really liked the crispy rice that was a result of the hot stone bowl it came in. Compared to the 2 other locations, the interior of the restaurant felt more spacious and the noise level was quieter, which made it easier to hold conversations. This place is great (if you can find it)! For some reason, Google maps took me all over the block and I only found it after parking by the Matador and walking around hunting for it. We came for the Korean fried chicken and it didn't disappoint - the batter was fresh and crispy, spice (level 3) was pleasant and mild, and we also got the cheese tteokbokki. Service was quick and there was no wait at 12pm on a Monday. Next time, I would get spice level 5 on the chicken and try more items on their extensive menu. KFC: Korean fried chicken has finally arrived to the Eastside! While I haven't dined in, their pick up orders are usually ready in about 25ish minutes and they're conscious enough to keep the box lids open so the wings don't get soggy. The fried chicken has a nice crunchy bite and a substantial batter to them. The original is underrated and is just salty enough to keep you wanting more. The honey garlic is sweet and good, but I'd really love to see a soy garlic flavor instead. The yangyum is mentioned in lots of reviews, but I really think it's disappointingly a more zesty, sweet Thai chili sauce. Side note, I'm a sucker for their onion rings. The seafood pancake was just average, since the large chunks of green onion and veggies are off putting. Had take out from this place last week. It was super delicious! We ordered seafood pancake, kalbi beef (short ribs), Korean yangyum fried chicken, garlic fried chicken and also seafood tofu. I love the fried chicken and kalbi. My kids chowed down the pancake in less than 2 min! Hehe! The tofu was yummy too. The only thing I have a comment would be not enough rice. We were craving Korean fried chicken and I've been wanting to try this place for a while, so we placed an order through Door Dash for delivery. We got the Spicy Yangnyum and the Honey Garlic Wings, Fried Dumplings, and Corn Cheese. We only got Spicy Yangnyum at 3 stars since my bf canyon handle extra spicy, but it still had a little bit of heat to it. The chicken wasn't extra crispy, but the flavors were really good. I did like the Spicy Yangnyum more than the Homey Garlic. I really liked the Fried Dumplings too. And the dumpling sauce that came with it, it seemed to taste better than any other dumpling/gyoza sauce I've ever tried. I didn't try the Corn Cheese myself; I let my bf have it all to himself because he really liked it. Definitely want to eat from here again, and this time, I want to try the Spicy Yangnyum at 5 stars. My boyfriend and I were craving Korean and we were near Redmond, so we came to the Third Place for dinner on a weekday! It was really easy to get a table, there were only a couple other parties, and we didn't have to wait at all. I got the Creamy Udon with Pork Belly and my boyfriend got the Half and Half Korean fried chicken. I was surprised at how great the creamy udon was - the sauce was really nice and not overwhelmingly rich, and the amount of pork belly included was pretty worth the money. We loved the Korean fried chicken - it's perfectly fried and crispy. I ended up taking the udon home as leftovers and somehow it was even better at home the next day, after I added some more pork belly. On google/Yelp, this place closes at 10pm and we came in at 8:15pm, the girl behind the counter without greeting told us we had to order take away, not sure if the place actually closes at 9pm and not 10 or what.. We eventually asked her to dine in as we walked all the way there to eat or else we would have ordered takeaway and she told us to eat fast. After 8pm, they dont have soup and bibimbap anymore, we weren't aware of that and the girl was annoyed when we asked her again on what they have now. Every once in a while I am fortunate to stumble upon a gem like The Third Place. A great location if you are young or old looking for a comfortable, yet hip, place to eat and drink (alcohol, and lots of it). So here's the main bullet points why this is a 5 star location: A) The food is like mom's cooking (if your mom is Korean that is). B) The food is classic Korean food. Nothing fancy or gimmicky. Traditional yet contemporary. A restaurant bistro fused with a happy hour twist. C) Everything I tried and tasted was fresh (unlike some of these other Korean restaurants around here). I can't remember that last time I finished everything on every bowl and plate. D) The staff is friendly and knows good service. Of course, if you know how to order Korean-style, you could always just raise your hand, yell "Yo gi yo!" and submit your order on-the-spot. The Third Place is a relatively new Korean place in downtown Redmond. Parking is street only or the public lot adjacent to Half Price Books. I'm guessing the name of this restaurant is an insider's joke, that this is the third restaurant in this exact location. Seeing the piles of take-out bags they have behind the counter; I think they're going to do just fine. The Food: Do.Si.Rak L.A.Kalbi - 5 Stars This is their lunch box. There are 4 meat options. Along with sides, noodles, rice, this is one of the best options for a meal on their menu. Seafood Korean Pancake - 4 Stars The flavor was good; the ingredients were good with chunks of seafood and scallion throughout. The crispiness is inconsistent across the entire area. I've had better in this regard. Yangnyum Chicken (I think) - 4 Stars, maybe 3.5 I don't know why these don't look like the business photo. It's missing that spicy red glaze sauce. It was good but not great. I think I need to ask them. Japchae - 4 Stars This is one of the most hearty japchae's I have had. Also very oily. The oil spilled over onto everything in the bag. Otherwise, the flavor and food was good with surprisingly big chunks of veggies. I thought they're supposed to be julienne cuts. The menu looked different and even the name is different, but similar vibes and good food :) We had the half and half of fried chicken and Yangnyum chicken. Their food, when it needs to be crispy, is incredibly crispy in all the right ways. We came to The Third Place on a random Tuesday night when we were passing through the area. Our order was simple: what we saw on Yelp, so fried chicken (all three types we were aware of the yangnum, honey garlic and original) and a seafood pancake because it had been a while and we were craving a seafood pancake. Across the board, everything between all the wings and seafood pancake had that distinct but light crispness. Where you immediately get that crispy sensation but it's not hard to bite through (like when a thick batter has been fried too long). It's all incredibly well fried and it's really just a delight for the senses. As for flavor, the yangnyum is like a sweet and sour with a bit of a kick, the original was almost entirely unflavored, and the honey garlic was our favorite of the bunch. The seafood pancake was packed full of goodies as well. As a whole, I think the quality of their fried chicken is top notch. It is, however, difficult to recrisp once you take it home, so I recommend you eat it quick. My only wish is that they had more flavors, especially something more savory. I've eaten here twice now and had a good experience both times. The yangyum chicken is a must - perfectly seasoned and cooked and crisy and delicious! I also really liked the spicy squid dish and the seafood pancake. Some things were good but I'm not sure I would get them again b/c they were a little plain - the udon seafood, the dolsotbibimbap and the fishcake soup. The kalbitang also was ok, I thought a bit bland but my husband liked it. My tongue was left tingling with the perfectly sweet and spicy yangnyeom chicken wings. I do handle spices well normally and yet I would highly recommend go for 3 stars wings here if it is your first time. There is a good chance 3 stars is good enough to keep ur eyes watering but still have you reaching for the next wing. BiBimbap is decent but not what i would go here again for. I've tried many different Korean fried chicken places and I've come to the conclusion that each have their good days and off days. Today was a good day for The Third Place. The ddokboki was decent, but the sauce was thicker than I like it. And the spicy seafood soup was ok, but lacked a deep flavor. I saw that this place opened recently and wanted to try it out. I called in my order and was told it would take 10 minutes. Given their location, if you can walk over then good for you else you potentially might need to circle around which is probably why my food was ready by the time I got there. I ordered a ssam bap set because I really just to try even though I know that a ssam is just a wrap you make with leafy veg. Because it's hard to understand size from photos, the black container is larger than the standard white Styrofoam one. The veg in the white container were lettuce, arugula, perilla leaves, cooked cabbage, cucumbers and jalapenos. The side dishes that I can confidently identify from left to right are potatoes, mung bean, broccoli, spicy cucumbers and kimchi. I got spicy pork bulgogi and it was slightly spicy for me but not painfully so. It's honestly just a very good variety of stuff compared to what I'm used to getting. Also a pretty nutritionally balanced meal for take out. My only critics have to do with the lettuce. I did see brown spots on my lettuce so that was a bit meh. Also I wasn't a fan of the type of lettuce. It were quite narrow and not really flexible like the leaves so it was kind of hard to put stuff on them and fold it nicely to eat. For all I know though, that could be my lack of understanding of how to properly eat a ssam so take that last one with a grain of salt. A quick search for restaurants in the redmond town center area took us here for dinner on a Thursday night. Quick tip for parking - park on the public parking few steps down the road to save time. The parking there is free for under 2 hrs and fully free on the weekends. We (1 adult + 2 kids) walked in at 7 pm and saw there were 3-4 families waiting ahead of us. I put my name down on the list and got ready for the wait. After 15-20 mins, all the 4 families were called to be seated exactly at the same time. I was in for a shock to see so many empty tables inside the restaurant as we got seated. No idea why they made us wait despite having so many empty tables! The initial wait aside, the service was pretty quick though I wouldn't call it friendly. Since I had 2 kids with me, I ordered a variety of sides (boneless chicken, sweet potato fries, fried dumplings) hoping they would enjoy at least one, and a kimchi pancake for me. Warning - the portion sizes are HUGE. I was expecting about 10 small pieces of boneless chicken, 4 or so dumplings, but what came was a small mountain of chicken, 8 dumplings and a huge portion of fries. The kids enjoyed all the sides since the spicing was perfect for them. Sadly, none of them appealed to me. The boneless chicken was absolutely bland, not seasoned enough. The spicy mayo that came with it wasn't spicy at all. The sweet potato fries were extremely greasy, definitely not fried at the right temperature. I dint taste the dumplings, but they looked extremely greasy on the outside as well. Coming to the kimchi pancake, I did like it but not something I would come back and order again. Beat KBBQ I've been to in WA. So I don't know what it's like to actually sit and grill there. When we first found this spot it was at the height of the pandemic and we ordered and just eat in the car. They have bento boxes there and that what we ordered. The kalbi bento is so good. The short ribs are always flavored really well and meat is tender, not chewy. The bento is a bit pricey, but it comes with a ton of sides and the rice and kalbi is a good portion size. So I was looking for something good to eat after a long day working away from home. It was the last night of working with the crew and looking for a good comfort food place. Although I arrived too late to dine in, I still decided that this was the place I wanted to try. To start with I ordered their half and half fried chicken. Half original fried chicken and half Yangnyum Chicken. Not sure of their portions I also ordered a side of their Mandy fried dumplings. Luckily this place was let far from my Hotel, as I was worried about how crisp the food would be after steaming in their containers on the trip home. To my surprise this chicken was still crisp and delicious. Even with all of the sauce on the Yangnyum chicken they stayed nice and crunchy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. I believe this place really knows what they are doing when they pack a meal to go. The chicken box was left open on the top to let the steam out and the mandu to go box had the corners clipped off the lid. This was real comfort food away from home and yes, I couldn't let it go to waste, despite my hotel room having a frog and a microwave. Their yangnyum sauce is great too, so we typically end up getting their half/half fried chicken (plain and yangnyum). The dosirak/bento boxes were so much bigger than I expected. I wasn't expecting the LA kalbi dosirak I got to last me a couple meals, and would highly recommend for anyone else to try it! The banchan (side dishes) that came with the bento were all delicious, as was the japchae. The bento also came with a piece of fried chicken, a couple pieces of sweet/sour chicken, and a gyoza. Would definitely get again in the future when I'm craving kalbi! The seafood pancake was yummy too but more importantly it was so big it came in a pizza box! Overall would recommend this place for their fried chicken but really can't go wrong with any of their other dishes. read more
