I avoided getting food in the Crossroads food court because everything looked so expensive. I ended up getting food here for other reasons, and I got kalua pork and short ribs and mac salad. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor of the food-- I really enjoyed it! The flavors were basically what I expected. And actually, it ended up being so much food that it served three meals (admittedly the latter meals I supplemented with sauteed vegetables, but it would've been a solid 2+ meals for me anyway). The macaroni salad wasn't the best so I probably wouldn't bother getting next time. But I do think if I'm craving some meat and rice, I live close enough that I'd come by again! read more

Amazing! I ordered the Kalua pork (no cabbage) and beef short ribs and they both were hands down the best I have had compared to actually being in Hawaii. Highly recommend. read more

Best thing in the food court. I bought the Hawaiian chicken plate and a side of Mac salad for 16.42. Service was quick and very nice. The sizes are HUGE! The chicken was well flavored and super tender, Mac salad was perfect and the rice was fresh. Not sure why it's so rated so low! Loved it here if you want something cheap that's fills you up, come here. read more

Highly recommend! We come here all the time to eat at the food court and love their mix plate options. Last weekend we catered for a party of 20 and were blown away with what they delivered. The food portions were super generous! We ordered the Hawaiian BBQ chicken, kalua pork and mac salad. The chicken was all tender thigh meat and they gave extra sauce that my kids loved. Everything was delicious and the owners were super easy to order from and had everything ready right on time. For the price and quality of food, I was so impressed and will definitely order from them again! read more

The best Hawaiian bbq, hard to find good Hawaiian food anywhere, service is fast too ,

Had teriyaki beef with their Mac salad and subbed their house salad for rice. Everything together was amazing. My fave spot in the food court. Great taste and great portions. read more

Since this is at the crossroads food court, there was plenty of seating. It has an old school, comforting vibe. My husband and I shared a combo plate of lau lau, kalua pork with cabbage, 2 scoops of white rice, a side of mac salad. I would say this is the closest thing to the plate lunches in Hawaii in all of Seattle area. Both the pork in the lau lau and kalua pork were so tender, juicy, and seasoned perfectly. Even though we shared a plate, the portions were definitely Hawaiian size and filled us up! The price was very reasonable for the size and quality too. The only thing that was slightly off was the Mac salad. It needed a bit of acidity or salt to it. And I would've preferred the cabbages to be big pieces instead of slices, but those are very minor complaints that don't affect the overall experience. read more

Boy the prices at the food court has gone up. It's even more important to make a good selection. This was my first time at the Island Grill. I got the Hawaii BBQ chicken. It's #1 so it should be their signature dish. The portions were plenty. They must have put three chicken breast on the place. They were also nice enough to substitute fries instead of the salad options. Unfortunately, it didn't have the flavor which makes you want to go back. read more

Today I had to downgrade my rating. I believe I ordered #14, the short ribs plate. It came with 2 heaping scoops of rice, a huge side of marinated short ribs, and a side of macaroni salad. I also ordered an addition of fried egg. I ended up with 2 fried eggs, which I can't ever complain about. Unfortunately the short ribs was not something i could finish. What a waste too because the portion was huge. First, the flavor was repulsive. Not sure what was giving it a musky flavor profile. My best guess is a hint of Worchester sauce went in there. Second thing is that the beef was overly chewy. I could chew on it all day long without it breaking down. Because of these 2 major things, I have to give a 2 star overall rating. This could be MUCH better. Perhaps it is my fault for eating lunch here on Monday. read more

Island Grill had been around for a long time and it is the second time I ate their food. First time was several years ago. I can't remember when but I was super excited to try their Loco Moco. I was a little disappointed because it was not very tasty. Just ordinary food that you don't desire to eat again. Yesterday my friend wanted to try the macaroni salad and the Lau Lau. For our dissatisfaction it was not very good either. If you are looking for the portion size it is definitely a place for you since plates are huge. However the quality of the food is not very good. Honestly I was not very surprised. Just wished it was better. If you are looking to eat a authentic Hawaiian food it is not the place for you. read more

Island Grill is one of many eateries inside Crossroads Mall's food court. I'm not sure when this eatery opened, but it's our first time eating there. Turns out our priority was correct, as it was a "could have been better" kind of place. I can appreciate someone coming here for portion size and the cost is "ok". Quality vs. quantity - your call. We dined-in, so no drama with ordering and pick up. The lau-lau was ready quickly since it was already made. The fries took longer. About the food court, it's plenty roomy and easy to social-distance since not many people are dining out yet, not even on a Saturday night. It was a bit vibrant but not like before; I noticed lots of take-out orders from some eateries. The Food: Lau-Lau, white rice, choice of mac salad or green salad, $14.50 - 2.5 Stars Menu: Steamed pork and fish wrapped in taro leaves Ding - Only one of the lau lau has fish, not the second one. Poor quality control! Heads-up #1 - Their green salad is the "Classic" style, meaning iceberg lettuce with shreds of carrot and purple cabbage. Ewww. That's not a "green" salad. Heads-up #2 - Mac salad is generously covered in mayo, more than I've seen at any other Hawaiian eatery. If that's your jam, you're at the right place. The lau-lau itself is 3 Stars "ok", just meets expectations. Their good thing is the serving size, which apparently is what they are popular for. 2 good size lau-lau, 2 good size scoops of rice, and the aforementioned gooey mac salad for the price. It could be two meals for somebody. Island Garlic Fries, $5.99 - 2 Stars The Island Garlic Fries is more fries than garlic. I was hoping for ballpark type of garlic fries. The garlic bits/clumps are cooked with (presumably) soy sauce, and they were very salty. Visually, there isn't a lot, or some fell to the bottom. At least the fries are crispy, or else this would have been 1 or 0 Star, Definitely not ordering this again. P.S. The noted prices are when I ordered in person. I noticed the online 3rd party app prices cost tens of cents more, not a huge difference. read more

I don't understand all the hate with this place. I feel like we're judging it by too high of standard for a food court quick serve place. We've been coming here for years and it's meant for just a quick meal during or after work or in between kids afterschool activities but it always hits the spot. I don't think it's reinventing the culinary wheel but for something that comes out hot in about 5-10 mins, you get tender meat with decent flavor and big portion of protein and rice and a Mac salad that tastes like it doesn't come out of a Sysco bucket. I usually go for the chicken BBQ but the pork and BBQ beef options are decent too. My sense is skip the short ribs though. Overall, it's comfort fast food at relatively inexpensive for the area prices and great value! By those standards I think it executes well! read more

This place is located within the Bellevue Crossroads mall food court next to a bunch of other stalls. I ordered the Hawaiian BBQ chicken ($10.99). The chicken itself was really tender and the sauce on top helps with the flavor. It was a little burnt on the bottom which was unfortunate but not terrible. You can choose the side that you like; I chose the macaroni salad which had so much sauce it was uneatable. I only ate half of it and couldn't finish it which really never happens. There was a lot more rice than there was chicken so I couldn't finish that either. Some of my friends ordered burgers and they were also huge portions with tons of fries. I ate a couple fries and thought they were just okay though. It seems this place prioritizes the portions of the food over the quality and the taste of the food. I've only had a couple of other restaurants in the plaza but I imagine that a lot of other stands here would be better options. read more

Worker was on the phone (NOT taking an order) and was in no rush to tend to the line in front of him. Finally got off the phone and seemed pretty unhappy to be at work. Wasn't horrible but wasn't pleasant. I ordered the short ribs and kalua pork. Short ribs were stale and poorly marinaded. Just tasted like plain short ribs. Didn't taste good at all. Kalua pork had more cabbage than pork. Not sure if this place just doesn't care anymore or are tight on budget or what but everything is lacking. I hope they tighten up. They got a great location to be in for any vendor. read more

Came with my mama and she kept saying "man I can make this" and I agree. The taste is not bad but there is nothing special whatsoever. The rice is your typical rice, not the sushi like rice that is usually served at Hawaiian restaurants, the meat is just ok and I am not a fan of the Mac salad. It tastes like water aka nothing. Also tell me why my kalua pork was 70% cabbage (look at pic). read more

I've only tried their musubis so far, and do want to try more items. I was already making dinner, so I just wanted a snack. I ordered two musubis ($4.99 each), and thought they would have maybe had them already pre-made or prepared. They didn't seem that busy, but it did take a little bit over ten minutes to get my musubis. It came with the sauce on the side, the sauce that they usually already put in musubis. So, I thought that was nice for people who don't like the sauce or prefer less or more. But then, it's not easy to dip in the sauce, so you have to pour over your musubi for each bite. Seems like they didn't use the sushi rice, which was fine, but then the musubi was starting to fall apart because the rice was a bit too crumbly. Maybe I'd try something else here, but maybe not the musubis, especially for that price. read more

If you are looking for fast Hawaiian food, then this is an excellent place to go to. I got the chicken and spam musubi for a starter and the BBQ beef and short ribs combination plate. The chicken musubi was very dry, and I would never get it again. The spam musubi tasted as expected, but it was dry too. The combo plate was decent, but it was nothing special. My favorite part was the short ribs with lots of teriyaki sauce. This place is in Crossroads food court, so the service was fast and the ambiance was lovely with lots of people looking to relax and get food. This is a good, chill place to get food if you want many options with no servers. Overall, the food was 2/5, the service was 4/5 as they were very friendly, and the ambiance was 3/5. I would not go back, but if you happen to go there, get the short ribs! read more

I rarely give bad reviews, and will limit the review to 2 stars vs. 0-1 stars, where things really were with my experience. I'm from Hawaii. I love food. I just spent $33.02 on four pieces of lau lau - which is fine and maybe even expected given how difficult it is to get "fresh" authentic lau lau in this area. But what I received was a disaster. I'm not even sure these are taro leaves, but the leaves were totally raw and almost non-existent. Barely enough to wrap the meat. It's as if someone saw a picture of lau lau on TV and tried to replicate it with a steamer, foil, and whatever leaves were available. And it's not even about being authentic vs. not. There are a number of Chinese restaurants who can replicate Hawaiian plate lunch classics reasonably well when it comes to flavors and something you'd want to eat. What was served here - along with very old, dried out rice - was disgusting. The rest of their offerings must be good enough to pay the bills at this strip mall food court, so keep that in mind if you're checking this place out for the first time. read more

Island Grill is a Hawaiian vendor located inside Crossroads Mall, with plenty of seating. We tried the Hawaiian BBQ chicken here twice, once before we went Hawaii and once after we returned from Hawaii. I'll say I was impressed both times! The wait for the food was pretty short. We got one island plate to share between 2, which included steamed rice, chicken, and salad. We also ordered a side of garlic fries. I'd recommend adding their teriyaki sauce to the rice, which adds a little more flavor to the rice. The portions were large enough that we had a little trouble finishing the one plate, although there were two of us! Overall, I'd come back when I'm missing Hawaii. Happy eating! read more

You get a generous portion here. I've tried their bbq beef, ribs and chicken with brown rice and salad. I like their bbq beef best. My husband got their crispy chicken with pineapple sandwich once. It was nice, but their bbq probably is more attractive for us. If you are hungry, give this place a try for a takeout. The food is a little carb heavy, so plan for an exercise later in the day. read more

Had the kahlua pork plate and loco moco. The kahlua tasted very good. I like the cabbage cut into shreds versus big chunks. Right amount of smokey and salt flavors. 5 stars. The loco moco beef patty tasted great. 5 stars. But the gravy was not the usual brown beef gravy that I was expecting. What was that white gravy? Chicken? Not much flavor in that gravy. Knocked this down to 4 stars due to that. The mac salad was good. A little bland and needs a little more salt/pepper. Give it 4.5 stars. Now, the most disappointing part of the meal. The rice. It's horrible. It was not cooked correctly at all. Parts were gooey mushy and parts were hard and over cooked. It was inedible and that's a shame. Knocked down my whole rating for everything by 1.5 stars because rice is an important part of any island meal. Price is 4 stars. $14-$15. It's not $9 like teriyaki used to be pre-pandemic. But it's not the outrageous $18 some overpriced places charge nowadays. Final score is 3.5 stars. Please improve the rice quality. Use beef brown gravy. Add a little more salt (or have salt packets available on takeouts), then I'm happy to give 5 stars. read more

i had a horrible surprise today during lunch. Normally order take out and i found myself in a few situations where if i found hair in my food. the last few occasions were short and on top. nothing that i am super worried about since i can pick it out and toss out what it touched and enjoy the rest of the food thinking that it didn't touch anything but what i tossed. this was not the case. at first i saw the hair sticking out of the front of the togo box. after opening, you can see it sink and disappear into the food. trying to pull it out, it was weaved and imbedded throughout the food. Nothing less of absolutely destroying my appetite. I had high hopes since a lot of places are trying to be very conscious of the product they are offering at this time. Had plenty of good experiences at island grill, but i probably won't be returning anytime soon. read more

Every once in a while I like to go to Crossroads and eat something at the food court, especially when I'm meeting friends who want to eat something different than me. Yesterday was such a case and I decided to try this Hawaiian bbq place, where I ordered the Kailua Pulled Pork (forgot to take a picture!!!). Man the look of it was really underwhelming, very different from the picture in the menu... it was basically an oval plate, with two big balls of white rice on one side, and a sloppy mix of pulled pork and cabbage on the other. The cabbage was waaaaay too much for my taste, come on, give me more pork!!! The pork itself was good after all, very tender and tasty, but the cabbage was overwhelming. Even my digestion complained later on... I skipped the rice, and at the end I was still hungry, there was not enough meat IMHO. I agree with the average score, 3* or even a bit less... read more

Island Grill is my favorite place to eat at in Crossroads Mall! I never seem to get anything other than the BBQ Chicken, which is always so flavorful with the marinade and grilled cook. The portion is huge, too. And that's not even the best part. All of the dishes can be made as a combination, where you can try a second protein with a side of steamed rice and get another side with your choice of a salad or mac salad for less than 10 bucks! It's a bargain, especially since the entree is plentiful. My personal favorite is the BBQ Chicken and Kalua Pork combination, with a green salad. In addition to combinations, there is other classic Hawaiian fare like Loco Moco, Spam Musubi and even a variety of Hawaiian Sun juices in the fridge. Food doesn't take long to make, and it's served out on a tray if you plan to dine-in, as Island Grill is located in the food court of Crossroads Mall. I do not recommend. The people working can't even say hello or give a head nod. When you pick up your food they look at you like you bothered them for buying something, it's bizarre! I was at Crossroads mall for something else and realized I'd skipped lunch. The photos of the food looked good and there was a pleasant aroma so I decided to give this place a try. Nope. The only thing that was remotely good was the salad, which came straight out of a bag - a handful of chopped lettuce in a styrofoam container. The rest of the meal was not good. I at the coconut shrimp, even though the batter was thicker than a corndog. It was chewy and tasted stale. The BBQ beef was dry and tasteless. I tried a couple of bites and gave up. There were two massive piles of rice with my order. I took a couple of bites but even the rice wasn't worth it. I can't imagine that any of this food was cooked fresh but even still I waited 15 minutes for my meal. The employees were almost animatronic. When I smiled and said thank you after I placed my order the guy just stared at me. No smile back. No acknowledging me at all. Finally! After writing numerous reviews asking for one, it has come to fruition. There is now a Hawaiian barbecue place on the Eastside. Island Grill is located in the food court at Crossroads in Bellevue. It is now in the spot where a couple barbecue joints, Jones and Burney's was located. The menu is fairly simple. It contains seven Hawaiian favorites, three combo choices, sandwiches and musubis. Interestingly saw BBQ chicken musubi on the menu. It always seems like Hawaiian places just have Spam musubi on the menu. Lastly, there is also a kids menu for the keikis. Decided to get a combo to try out more than one item. Got the BBQ chicken and beef combo plate ($8.75) which comes with a choice of macaroni or green salad. Mac salad seems like the default choice as I was not asked about which one I wanted. Took the plate lunch to go and the first thing I noticed is that it was surprisingly light. In Hawaii, plate lunches are known for its ginormous portions. Sometimes, enough food for two meals. The combo here has portions like the other food court places at Crossroads. Filling, but not enough to make a second meal from. Thus, the meat portions are a bit smaller and there is only one scoop of rice. Flavor wise, the meats were okay. BBQ chicken has the flavor part down, but a bit too much sauce. Also it didn't have the grill marks of Hawaiian BBQ, so it was a bit more like teriyaki chicken Hawaiian style. The beef was okay, but I would go for the short ribs which are $.20 more if you get a combo. The mac salad was good and has a nice consistency. Some versions of mac salad have tasted a bit funky with unneeded extras like celery and carrots. This version is classic which is how I like it. It is not the best Hawaiian barbecue that I have had in the Seattle area, but I will take it. Better than nothing. No longer do I have to go to a teriyaki joint if I am looking for a meat and rice plate on the Eastside. I can go to Island Grill to fill this need instead. read more

Lunch entree in question is Loco Moco... What is Loco Moco? Bed of white rice, covered with gravy with hamburger steak with over easy eggs on top. I've had many Loco Mocos in my life and this Island Grill is one of the more appetizing ones I've had. In my opinion gravy is the key and it's creamy, it's pleasantly salty and it ties the whole dish together. The hamburger steak... they could've kept it plain and not season the hamburger steak and you wouldn't have heard any complaints from me, but the taste was align with of a sausage patty because it was so flavorful. The egg it's just a garden variety cooked over easy egg really not worth mentioning... I recommend this dish and I am happy I ordered it Thank you Blake G. read more

Island Grill is a great spot to grab some Kalua pig when you've got a craving! They give you A L O T of food, and it has a nice grilled flavor to it. Honestly I was not a big fan of the beef, personal preference as it had some spice in the marinade that I didn't like, and the Mac salad was a bit soupy.
