    Coconut Shrimp
    Chelsea A.

Recently came back from Hawaii, and couldn't stop thinking about coconut shrimp. Placed an order for delivery, and food was still warm when it arrived. My order was not right, I had added extra Mac and the description did not state it came with spicy pineapple. The pineapple was really good though! Had to go through Uber eats to get a refund for the charges of Mac I didn't receive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This spot is in a strip mall by the Safeway. Can definitely dine in, but more of a take out vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was really good. Excellent Mac, pineapple was a nice surprise, and the shrimp were crispy and you got a ton of a shrimp. That makes the price worth it in my opinion.

    Grilled Mahi Mahi Plate ($18)

4.5 Stars We ordered takeout from here for a lunch meeting, and I was impressed by the thoughtful packaging featuring dividers for the various components of the mixed plate. The online ordering system makes is very easy to order and has lots of options for modifications. The Grilled Mahi plate ($18) was exceptional. The tender Mahi was enveloped in a rich, spicy, and creamy sauce. I chose to substitute extra macaroni salad for the rice, and it was both luscious and delightful. Solid!

Came to support them cuz they were robbed again on May 11th!

On May 11, 2024, Buddha Bruddah went on social media to lament they have once again been broken into overnight - at both Kirkland Kingsgate and Kenmore locations on the same night! We changed dinner plans that evening to get takeouts from their Kirkland eatery, which is takeout only. The restaurant was cleaned up and business as usual by evening time - except for the plywood for a door, which is still there two weeks later. We phoned in our order when we started driving there. The wait wasn't too long. They have only one small bench to wait for orders. More chairs would be nice. The inside is a mini grocery store in addiction to the ordering counter and a fridge for desserts. They also have a table of tiny cups of sauces with a scale of spiciness. Service was friendly, though low-touch. The Food: Fried Chicken Garlic Basil, $15 - 4 Stars Served with mac, slaw, and rice (which I sub'd for extra slaw at no charge), fried chicken thigh is mochiko battered, topped w/ tamarind glaze, fried garlic/basil. The chicken is very tender and flavorful. I was having (too much) fun sampling all the sauces, mixing them with the slaw, and dipping chicken pieces into them. I don't know what the original flavor is! Regardless, all the sauces made the food tasty and a different taste with each bite, if I wanted. Kalua Pork Loco, $16 - 3.5 Stars Instead of the normal loco moco, this version using Kalua pork as the protein, topped with house gravy, fried eggs, furikake. Hubby said it was tasty, but he kalua pork, possibly because of the gravy tasted too salty. I also questioned the too-pink color of the pork (see photo), but he said it tasted fine. He hasn't been ill two weeks later, so I guess it was ok. We told our in-laws about this place two weeks ago, who live minutes away. They have ordered the family sized mix plate - twice! So, I am rounding the overall rating up to 4 stars.

    Kalbi and chicken

This place serves up some amazing food full of flavor! The portions are pretty decent as well and the service is quick. The kalbi is a bit thin but they provide a decent amount of it! I personally don't think the side of cabbage adds much, but that's just me! Overall really substantial portion sizes :)

Garlic Fried Rice, Buttermilk Fried Chicken Katsu, and Loco Mocos - yummm!
    Marcie S.

We were pretty stoked to find out there's a Hawaiian spot near by and when it came time for a take out dinner we both agreed to give this place a shot, and I'm glad we did! Our order was ready quickly and was fantastic. As close to authentic as you can get outside of being literally in Hawaii. We had an order of the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Katsu and the Garlic Fried Rice for the kids and two Loco Mocos for my husband and I - the portions were very generous and we all happily shared. For as simple of a concept, I feel like Loco Mocos are hard to perfect. They are either delicious or they are nasty - and these were absolutely delicious - the meet was perfect, they gravy was well seasoned, and they egg was the perfect texture. The mac salad was one of the best I've ever had. We'll be ordering from here again - highly recommend!

Absolutely disgusting and I gave this place 3 tries. Didn't order for over a year so I was thinking maybe its better now! The chicken was as hard as a rock had to be days oldthe flavor was a cross between ketchup and burnt! Entire dish was dry including the broccoli! Cole slaw tasted like soy sauce! I cannot fathom the good reviews on the website! Everyone has a different pallet but they should be ashamed serving old dried up flavorless food and 3 different occasionsim in utter shock and believe me im not one to blast restaurants but when its this bad people need to know! The pics dont do justice!

This place is close to home so I decided to finally check them out. I been to their Seattle location before so I knew what to expect. The decorations was pretty cool in my opinion, it reminds you of a mini outdoor market in Asia. They have thes rice bag hanging on the wall as decorations hahaha The people here was pretty nice, I ordered my food online, and came 20 minutes early, but they were nice enough to make it on the spot for me so I didn't have to wait. Food wise: portion is very generous Fried chicken with garlic basil - Xtra slaw no rice --- the chicken was delicious l, good flavor, soft but crispy Huli chicken Xtra slaw no rice --- the meat was little dry in my opinion Both came with one scoop of macaroni salad and some cabbage slaw. The macaroni salad was peppery and creamy. I didn't care much for the slaw as it was literally just cabbage, the dressing was very light. I also grabbed a container of sambal to try and it was definitely too vinegary for my taste. They have assortment of sauce laid out with description of each one for you to try Overall, food was a 3 star for me but service and portion increase it to 4 star

Decent photo of what you see walking inside. This is take-out only. No dining in. Its our first time. 40% of their menu has GF available!!
    Julienne P.

Note that this is take-out ONLY. You cannot eat there. Check out the menu that I took a photo of since its the easiest way to check out the menu, especially if you are gluten-free. 40% of their menu is GF!!! We would return. We liked it but did not love it. We ordered a ton of different dishes to try it the first time since we love this type of food but can NEVER find it GF. We didnt find the coconut shrimp very good - just ok. Most beef dishes were a 4 out of 5 It is worth trying for yourself since I think we were being a little more picky than usual. The staff was amazing. So friendly and so happy to help us figure out the menu. They also have a mini market were you can buy some related food items. If you are in the area, give it a try!!

I love Hawaiian food, and Buddha Bruddah was the next stop on my search for good Hawaiian food in Puget Sound. I came here for dinner with a friend around 7pm on a Thursday, and they were pretty busy with takeout orders. I ordered the huli chicken and hawaiian beef combo, and the food came out suuuper fast, in a matter of minutes. The combo comes with 2 scoops of rice, some slaw, and a scoop of mac salad. I opted to substitute one of the scoops of rice with mac salad instead. Their mac salad is definitely one of the best I've had in this area. I also liked how they were very generous with the sauce, whether it be over the meats or the rice, cause the huli huli chicken definitely would've been a bit dry without it. The slaw was probably the worst part of the meal, it was kind of bitter and I feel like it would've been better if there was some dressing for it. They also have a table inside with a bunch of different sauces that you can pick from - they have a sign in front that describes each sauce and the relative spice level. I'm terrible with spice, so I opted to try the 2 lowest star ones (I think crying tiger and I forget what the other one is called). The sauces were really, really salty - not sure if they accidentally put too much fish sauce in this batch. Overall the combo came out to be around $24, which I thought was reasonable given that portion size was generous and it was enough to last me two meals. There's no seating here, so not the best spot to catch up with friends over food, but definitely a solid spot for Hawaiian food.

Huli Huli Chicken and Beef Combo
    Crissey Y.

This was our first order from this restaurant. We ordered from Uber Eats. It took too long to receive our order. We were hungry and almost finished it all. The presentation was good. However for almost $50, we didn't think it was worth it with an average of $20/plate. From what we ordered, we enjoyed the Smokey Huli Huli pork best. The pork is tender but too dry and couldn't eat much of it. The chicken was tender and tasty. It tasted like a glorified teriyaki chicken with more robust flavors. The beef was a bit tough for me. The macaroni and lettuce simply had lack of taste and bland. Finally, there was a tiny little hair mixed in with my macaroni which grossed me out. Sadly, it's not memorable enough for me to repeat anytime soon.

Rice Bags as decor is so cool!
    Chris P.

We've come here twice and the food is outstanding. Great spice levels if you're into that kind of stuff, with authentic, rich flavors. We ordered the Mochiko, Spicy Sesame Chicken and the Garlic & Basil, all of which I would highly recommend. Their self-serve Chili Sauces are awesome too. Try em all, but I love the Prik Nam Pla, a flavorful Thais chili and fish sauce based chili sauce. Delish on a dish - and a lot of it! Staff is always great and this place has cute decor (rice bags galore!), but unfortunately no indoor seating so we had to eat in the car. No worries, the food is worth it!

Thankfully dine-in is back open again, so we got here on a Saturday morning around 11:20am to indoor seating that was nearly full and a small line that was forming at the front counter. Walls have a bunch of photo frames, and overall place felt very homely. They have a ton of Hawaiian style plates and even burgers and some seafood, though we and most others got the former to eat. I ordered their chicken and pork combo Hawaiian style plate, and my bestie got their chicken katsu Hawaiian style plate. Portions are huge for both plates and both also came with macaroni salad. They give you sooooo much meat no matter what you get. To go in slightly more detail: - Chicken and pork combo: both meats were flavored very well, and a little sweet too though pretty salty without using the rice as a palette cleanser. Chicken had more depth in its flavor; the pork's flavor was a little too much for my liking, and was slightly harder to chew. Both meats had some sauce hat went onto the rice itself. This didn't detract from my overall experience here, though. - Chicken katsu: we both agreed this was our favorite after exchanging pieces of each other's dish. The katsu is crispy and crunchy, and the chicken itself retained a lot of its juiciness. Katsu sauce on the side is honestly optional since the meat itself is already salty enough. This place does share extremely limited parking with Cakes of Paradise next door, so get here early or be prepared to drive around the area to find some. Just get here, it's a place you can't pass up when you hit up Georgetown!

Updated review from 2 Months ago…read more.. I've been back roughly 6 times from my previous review of Kona Kitchen. Then it was too many staff, not many customers and it was difficult to get service, that has been improved upon. They are nice and attentive when they see you. Service was normal, the wait staff came around and offered more beverage. This time it was still slow period, so what gives it only 3 stars instead of more? It's the fact that the main door the employee use to go into the kitchen to give their orders to the cooks had cob webs on the top of the door.i mean everyone of them walk through that door hundreds of times throughout the week because I could tell it's been there for some time. Where's the food inspector, should be a concern because if it's there in full view of customers and employees, what else is happening as far as cleanliness at Kona Kitchen. I will be there within two or three days and wonder if the cobweb will still be a fixture there... it's something that is annoying because nobody's done anything about it. Amazing.

This was at 12:30PM and there was a long line out the door and around the corner, taking almost 30 minutes. I had previously visited on a rainy winter weekday for lunch and there wasn't a line at all. What a difference the day and weather can make! While in line we could see the chefs cutting up ahi fresh right in front. The longer line gave me time to chat with the owner as he was trimming off the skin and other bits. I learned that tuna skin is much tougher than salmon skin so can't be eaten like salmon skin chips. He also said that the trimmed parts can be taken for free if anyone wants them. Apparently they make good crab bait! Medium w/ Rice, Traditional Limu Ahi, Hamachi, Mac Salad ($21.50) - I love the Hamachi poke mix. It's fresh, tender, and buttery fish tossed in a creamy and slightly spicy sauce, filled with little briny pearls and plenty of aromatics giving a super umami bite. The Limu Ahi is very fresh as well - I mean, it's sliced right in front, and there's so much turnover of the food that's it's pretty much guaranteed fresh. The tuna is fresh and tender, but there's noticeably more sinew compared to the hamachi. The Mac Salad is also really good. It's super creamy and the macaroni isn't overcooked so it still has some bite. The rice is unfortunately the weakest item in the bowl. It's a little too dry for my tastes and is only lightly tossed with rice vinegar, giving a tangy flavor. Overall all the poke is fresh, the flavors all meld together into a delightful balanced bite, and the sauces are not overwhelming. Ono Poke definitely serves some great poke! I live in Everett and so it was going to be a little drive. Nothing crazy but a good jaunt outside of my usual grounds. Upon arrival i noticed it was located on the corner of a small strip mall. Ono Authentic Hawaiian Poke. It looks very unassuming until you open the door. Just the vibes and energy walking in there were seemed like what it might feel debarking the plane when you arrived to the big island. At least that what I gather since I've yet to experience it. But man, this place is small inside but the atmosphere feels big. Great music playing. Packed with patrons. And the poke counter just stacked with deliciousness. I've been here 3 times to get a good idea of the flavors and varieties that have. And even though I have my favorites , everything I have tried is by far incredible. It's fresh. The quality is amazing. And the flavors of each individual selection is stand alone but not overwhelming or smothering to the point you feel you can't taste the fish. It actually accentuates the flavor of each fish and brings about an undercurrent of flavor and subtle umami that I never experienced at any other poke spot. My first visit I had the large spicy Hawaiian tombo. Sided with macaroni salad. And an order of the same but on the bites, or poke bombs. I got my food to go and ate in my car. It was the most beautiful looking poke I've had. And the bite was just scrumptious. The rice was cooked perfectly. Now I always thought it was weird to have warm rice with cold raw fish but I finally figured out why. It just made the dish so much better. My second visit I ordered a regular but decided to get Joes sampler. I had a little bit of everything. Seaweed salad. Cucumber salad. Edamame. Scallops, which turned out to be one of my top favorites. Salmon. Tuna. I highly recommend getting the sampler for f you are undecided but open to trying everything. My last visit was my definite deciding choice in terms of what my go to order will be for future trips. I had the regular but half limu traditional and they don't do scallops on Saturday so I opted for the octopus. I'm not a fan of octopus per se, and more so for the respect of the animal itself versus flavor and texture but it was pretty good. I won't order it again because my go to from here on out will be the traditional limu, scallops, macaroni salad and seaweed salad. Next time you want to try or get poke, head on down to Edmonds and hit this place. You'll be satisfied.
