I have been craving a delicious rice and meat dish. I stopped by for a to go order on my lunch time . Upon entering there is a little Asian mini mart in there with rice noodles, sauces and a few staple Asian items. They had a display cold case of their pies. The coconut cream pie looked yummy so I bought one. My order was ready within 15 minutes. I ordered the half Huli huli chicken and beef with an extra scoop of rice . Mac salad and a coleslaw was also included. They also have an assortment of small sauces to go, ranching from one star and up. I picked the crying tiger sauce, teriyaki and chili oil . This is a hefty mixed plate, enough for two or to have as leftovers for me. The beef is my favorite, seasoned and sauced well. I added the sauces to the huli huli chicken and it was superb, the chicken was moist and tender. I love Hawaiian Mac salad, it's the better type of Mac salads. I really enjoyed their Mac salad and the coleslaw. The coleslaw was a nice palette cleanser amongst the heavy but comforting meal. The coconut cream pie was good. I was expecting it to be a a little more sweeter, but the coconut flavor is just right. Not too overpowering . I will be back to try more. read more

My order was not right, I had added extra Mac and the description did not state it came with spicy pineapple. The pineapple was really good though! Had to go through Uber eats to get a refund for the charges of Mac I didn't receive. This spot is in a strip mall by the Safeway. Can definitely dine in, but more of a take out vibe. I periodically passed by the Bothell location and was curious, as I'm always on the lookout for good Hawaiian "plate lunch" places. Let's be frank, Hawaiian style plate lunch food doesn't take the highest culinary skill to make--it's simply salty/sweet comfort food heaped atop an atomic-bomb portion of rice. Things like hamburger steak, chili frank, chicken long rice, chicken cutlet, etc... is fairly easy to make...I will say however that the "mac salad" can make or break a place. So this place by Totem Lake is strictly take out. Put an order to go through their website just after work and got there a bit after 4ish. Good to see there were people there. Food was ready very quickly. I had ordered the "Special Family sized mix plate"--$68 at time of this review. I will say the portion sizes (especially of the main entrees--the Kalua pork and Huli chicken) were very generous--leftovers for days (it said it would be enough to feed 4 or 5 people, and I will heartily agree). The Kalua pork wasn't salty or smokey enough, and it was a bit dry. The Huli Huli chicken tasted more like a tangy BBQ sauce mixed with a dash of Sriacha. Not bad, but nothing like the traditional Huli Huli chicken I've had. The meal also came with a big takeout container of jasmine rice (would have thought they'd use short grain), some non-descript egg rolls, and a cole slaw that tasted overly vinegary for me, not sweet and/or creamy like traditional cole slaw. I will say the mac salad was pretty legit. They nailed the flavor, and give a big takeout container of it packed tight. So overall not bad, probably more like 3.5 stars. Would I go back again? I have to say that I love their food, but unfortunately, in terms of service I had a terrible experience. I ordered catering for a birthday party and my order was confirmed but upon arrival for pick up, the store was closed. I could not get a hold of of anybody and I did not receive an email canceling my order or to let me know that they were going to closed. it was just an overall stressful situation as as the party started at 3 PM and pick up was supposed to be for 2 PM. read more

This place serves up some amazing food full of flavor! The portions are pretty decent as well and the service is quick. The kalbi is a bit thin but they provide a decent amount of it! We changed dinner plans that evening to get takeouts from their Kirkland eatery, which is takeout only. The restaurant was cleaned up and business as usual by evening time - except for the plywood for a door, which is still there two weeks later. We phoned in our order when we started driving there. The wait wasn't too long. They have only one small bench to wait for orders. More chairs would be nice. The inside is a mini grocery store in addiction to the ordering counter and a fridge for desserts. They also have a table of tiny cups of sauces with a scale of spiciness. Service was friendly, though low-touch. The Food: Fried Chicken Garlic Basil, $15 - 4 Stars Served with mac, slaw, and rice (which I sub'd for extra slaw at no charge), fried chicken thigh is mochiko battered, topped w/ tamarind glaze, fried garlic/basil. The chicken is very tender and flavorful. I was having (too much) fun sampling all the sauces, mixing them with the slaw, and dipping chicken pieces into them. I don't know what the original flavor is! Regardless, all the sauces made the food tasty and a different taste with each bite, if I wanted. Kalua Pork Loco, $16 - 3.5 Stars Instead of the normal loco moco, this version using Kalua pork as the protein, topped with house gravy, fried eggs, furikake. Hubby said it was tasty, but he kalua pork, possibly because of the gravy tasted too salty. I also questioned the too-pink color of the pork (see photo), but he said it tasted fine. He hasn't been ill two weeks later, so I guess it was ok. We told our in-laws about this place two weeks ago, who live minutes away. They have ordered the family sized mix plate - twice! Absolutely disgusting and I gave this place 3 tries. Didn't order for over a year so I was thinking maybe its better now! The chicken was as hard as a rock had to be days oldthe flavor was a cross between ketchup and burnt! Entire dish was dry including the broccoli! Cole slaw tasted like soy sauce! I cannot fathom the good reviews on the website! Everyone has a different pallet but they should be ashamed serving old dried up flavorless food and 3 different occasionsim in utter shock and believe me im not one to blast restaurants but when its this bad people need to know! We were pretty stoked to find out there's a Hawaiian spot near by and when it came time for a take out dinner we both agreed to give this place a shot, and I'm glad we did! Our order was ready quickly and was fantastic. As close to authentic as you can get outside of being literally in Hawaii. We had an order of the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Katsu and the Garlic Fried Rice for the kids and two Loco Mocos for my husband and I - the portions were very generous and we all happily shared. For as simple of a concept, I feel like Loco Mocos are hard to perfect. They are either delicious or they are nasty - and these were absolutely delicious - the meet was perfect, they gravy was well seasoned, and they egg was the perfect texture. They have thes rice bag hanging on the wall as decorations hahaha The people here was pretty nice, I ordered my food online, and came 20 minutes early, but they were nice enough to make it on the spot for me so I didn't have to wait. Food wise: portion is very generous Fried chicken with garlic basil - Xtra slaw no rice --- the chicken was delicious l, good flavor, soft but crispy Huli chicken Xtra slaw no rice --- the meat was little dry in my opinion Both came with one scoop of macaroni salad and some cabbage slaw. The macaroni salad was peppery and creamy. I didn't care much for the slaw as it was literally just cabbage, the dressing was very light. I also grabbed a container of sambal to try and it was definitely too vinegary for my taste. This was our first order from this restaurant. We ordered from Uber Eats. It took too long to receive our order. We were hungry and almost finished it all. The presentation was good. However for almost $50, we didn't think it was worth it with an average of $20/plate. From what we ordered, we enjoyed the Smokey Huli Huli pork best. The pork is tender but too dry and couldn't eat much of it. The chicken was tender and tasty. It tasted like a glorified teriyaki chicken with more robust flavors. The beef was a bit tough for me. The macaroni and lettuce simply had lack of taste and bland. Finally, there was a tiny little hair mixed in with my macaroni which grossed me out. We liked it but did not love it. We ordered a ton of different dishes to try it the first time since we love this type of food but can NEVER find it GF. We didnt find the coconut shrimp very good - just ok. Most beef dishes were a 4 out of 5 It is worth trying for yourself since I think we were being a little more picky than usual. I love Hawaiian food, and Buddha Bruddah was the next stop on my search for good Hawaiian food in Puget Sound. I came here for dinner with a friend around 7pm on a Thursday, and they were pretty busy with takeout orders. I ordered the huli chicken and hawaiian beef combo, and the food came out suuuper fast, in a matter of minutes. The combo comes with 2 scoops of rice, some slaw, and a scoop of mac salad. I opted to substitute one of the scoops of rice with mac salad instead. Their mac salad is definitely one of the best I've had in this area. I also liked how they were very generous with the sauce, whether it be over the meats or the rice, cause the huli huli chicken definitely would've been a bit dry without it. The slaw was probably the worst part of the meal, it was kind of bitter and I feel like it would've been better if there was some dressing for it. They also have a table inside with a bunch of different sauces that you can pick from - they have a sign in front that describes each sauce and the relative spice level. I'm terrible with spice, so I opted to try the 2 lowest star ones (I think crying tiger and I forget what the other one is called). The sauces were really, really salty - not sure if they accidentally put too much fish sauce in this batch. Overall the combo came out to be around $24, which I thought was reasonable given that portion size was generous and it was enough to last me two meals. There's no seating here, so not the best spot to catch up with friends over food, but definitely a solid spot for Hawaiian food. read more

When I lived in Kirkland I would get Buddha Bruddah often. It's a solid Hawaiian spot, with great portions. Ordering delivery from one of the apps left some requests unfulfilled and it was inconsistent. I learned that if I called ahead or just went into the store I had a better outcome. We've come here twice and the food is outstanding. Great spice levels if you're into that kind of stuff, with authentic, rich flavors. We ordered the Mochiko, Spicy Sesame Chicken and the Garlic & Basil, all of which I would highly recommend. Their self-serve Chili Sauces are awesome too. Try em all, but I love the Prik Nam Pla, a flavorful Thais chili and fish sauce based chili sauce. Delish on a dish - and a lot of it! This is one of my favorite places to get take out. The serving sizes are perfect and the food is consistent. They move quickly and I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes for my order. I have tried the Huli Huli chicken and the beef short ribs. I enjoy the beef short ribs more, though they do lean to the sweeter side. If you're looking to dine in, I would recommend going to a different location as there is no seating here. I would definitely pop over to the Kenmore location since it's just 10 minutes away and there is plenty of seats there. I came in at 11 AM on a weekday to get some lunch with a friend, but we ended up having to take it to-go. There was no one ahead of us and we ordered 2 loco mocos and 1 huli huli chicken & spicy pork combo plate. It took almost 25 minutes for our food to be ready. The loco moco patties were not well seasoned and really bland in the centers. They were also stuffed into a small container, so eating it was difficult. The spicy pork was also really fatty and full of gristle, so there was little "pork" actually included. The chicken was great and mac salad was nice too. Wow! I kept seeing these guys pop up in my Yelp app. I finally decided to pick something up. I ordered the combo Huli Chicken & Hawaiian Grilled Beef mix plate and the Drunken Noodles. They were so good & flavorful! I can't wait to try everything else. I'm very tempted to host a dinner and order a bunch of stuff from here so I can try more of the menu. The two orders I got was way more than I could eat. They also offer a variety of chili and fish sauce based sauces. To be honest you don't need it! It will overpower the already flavorful dishes. If you want some fire then just add plain hot sauce not these dipping sauces. They're all very good as well, but just too much for my taste. Came back and got the Chicken Katsu, Grilled Mahi Mahi, and Homemade Banana Bread. The Katsu was good. Definitely better than many teriyaki joints in the area. Not a big fan of their katsu sauce though. Slight twist, not bad, but not my style. Mahi Mahi was a bit bland imo. Fish was cooked fine, but not much flavor. This new location sells the same menu and the food is just as tasty. Service is awesome as always and the owners of this place are good people. The new location is takeout only but does feature a bunch of cool Thai decor inside and a mini Asian store with noodles, rubs, vinegars etc. We got the spicy pork and garlic basil chicken which were our go to orders back in the day. Used to like this place but things have maybe changed since I last went. I remember loving the spicy sesame chicken but now it's only meh. The Asian slaw has crazy amounts of ginger in it, borderline inedible. The Mac salad is alright and helped balance it out especially because the rice seemed old and stale. The chargrilled Hulu chicken was pretty good and they sliced it thin so it felt very tender but not enough flavor to it. Overall, not bad but not good given other options available. read more
