Veal agnolotti
Alice C.

We wanted to like TS more but we've had better Italian food in SF. Ordered the focaccia, prosciutto and Caesar to start. All solid, the star was these puffy fried dough balls with the meat plate. Pasta was hit or miss. Veal agnolotti amazing, bolognese was too heavy on the sage and duck risotto lacked overall flavor and depth. Tiramisu was also solid. Service was delayed. Our main waiter was distracted the whole time and we found it bizzare that they took our wine/cocktail glasses but didn't ask us if we wanted another. Busers were efficient and aplenty. The restaurant was packed and lively on a very wet and stormy Saturday night so maybe it was just an off night?

My friends and I made a reservation for Easter Sunday brunch on OpenTable. Super easy to do so. We made it for 11 am and the place filled up pretty much at opening. The interior was very eye catching. We all loved the color palette and the aesthetics. INSALATA DI PERE (4/5): We ordered a salad for the table. This had chicories, pear, pecans, pomegranate, and gorgonzola. We loved the pecans. OMELETTE (4/5): The omelette had fennel sausage, kale, fontina with a side of breakfast potatoes, toast, and fall greens. The kale was nicely cooked inside. Loved the toast. I would come back to see their dinner menu. I want to try one of their pastas. I also got a non-alcoholic drink which was nice and lemony. Would've liked if they had a mimosa on the menu. They also have a 5% surcharge for employee benefits.

Came back for dinner and it did NOT disappoint!! Staff were wonderfully accommodating when we wanted to adjust our reservation (reservations strongly recommended). The meatball appetizer was delicious and cocktails were fantastic. I ordered the mushroom ravioli and others in my party offered various pastas. All delicious. The highlight of the night was truly the tiramisu - it was incredible !!! Great vibes all around, we will be back.

Tortellini alla panna, insalata de pere

Beautiful interior and is always bustling, a fun date night or dinner with the girls spot. Had a reservation but was ignored by the hostess for a while after waiting at the door which was a bad experience, but the waiter once seated was friendly and attentive. The food came very fast. We got a few apps including the burrata crostini and insalata de pere. The tortellini alla panna was the standout and a good portion size.

Classic Negroni

The atmosphere at The Tailor's Son is lively. It's a nice place for drinks and food after work. With light from windows facing Fillmore in the old Elite Cafe space, it's a handsome setting with high ceilings, a full length bar, and a combo of cafe tables and long communal tables. We started with a classic Negroni (they have a creative Negroni menu) and a Golden Thread, a mix of blanco tequila, saffron, fennel, honey, lemon, and rose foam. The wagyu crostini arrived, and the meal stumbled when a random black hair appeared on the plate. To the server's credit, when we pointed it out, the response was quick. The dish was whisked away, replaced and comped. It was followed by a chicory salad with pear, pecans, and gorgonzola, a rich trumpet mushroom pasta and an unexpected gift: lobster pasta with lobster tail in a lobster pomodoro. It was a peace offering, in light of the earlier snafu. The quick recovery, replacing the offending dish and taking it off the bill, and then offering one of their best pastas as a gift (this is how to fix things & reboot trust!) reset the experience for us, smoothing over a dining misstep, and making for a memorable meal.

papadelle with rage

One of the cutest restaurants in SF. I love the ambience and decor. The bar is beautiful, and they have a super charming wall of Italian digestifs/liquor boxes displaying their vibrant collection. seats/tables in themselves are an experience just to dine in. love it. food was very tasty. my partner and I got the Caesar salad, carbonara, and papadelle with ragu for Sunday lunch. Both dishes were very tasty and the staff offered chili flakes to top. very nice. the staff came around and also made sure we had enough water. will be back!

Finally tried The Tailor's Son on Fillmore in Pac Heights and really enjoyed it. The bolognese was the standout, so good I forgot to take a photo before digging in. The zero-proof mocktails were also a highlight; I had a spicy, margarita-style drink that I'd absolutely order again. The seasonal salad was refreshing, though I didn't notice the pear slices listed on the menu. The focaccia and tapenade were solid, and we left very full by the end of dinner. Service was quick and friendly and we were able to walk in and get an indoor table on a packed Friday night thanks to their efficient table turnover. The space was warm and well lit, and the bathrooms were very clean. Would definitely come back!

Rigotonici con funghi

Cute place on Fillmore. Rotating menu of more traditional dishes like bolognese and risotto with other less common traditional dishes like tortellini con panna. Good flavors. I really enjoyed the broccolini with pistachio and anchovies. Service was prompt. Can't give it five stars with other really fantastic places in the city.

Went there for lunch with a friend. We shared the appetizer and I had a lovely Caesar salad with scrumptious croutons. Their menu is seasonal and different every month. The chef surprises you with eclectic treats.

tiramisu
Cami R.

Dropped into The Tailor's Son last week for a quick 3 pm snack! Was so happy with their happy hour menu - we were able to split an appetizer, pasta and desert perfectly. Although I will say I was dying to take more of my share of the tiramisu (it was that good). The vibes are great here - definitely appealing to families, a quick meal with friends or even just by yourself! I could totally see myself coming back around the same time and just having some more of that tiramisu and people watching by the window! Great service and atmosphere! Just need to try their full menu at lunch or dinner now!

It was a nice experience by myself . My server was really attentive. I got as appetizer i got a Sprezzatura and Asparagus with egg. As a secondi an Strawberry salad and to finish my meal experience Bucatini All'Amatriciana. From the wine list i had a Langhe Nebbiolo and as a dessert a Sibona Grappa Barolo. Everything was outstanding.

Grace K.

The vibe here is beautiful - such a great spot for a date night or a fun dinner with girlfriends. The appetizers were super tasty and definitely the highlight of the meal. Sadly, the clam linguine was a letdown - there wasn't much seafood in it, and I even bit down on a small rock, which was pretty concerning. We were sitting near the entrance at the bar and asked if they could close one of the doors since it was getting really chilly, but it never happened, so it was a bit uncomfortable. The atmosphere and starters are great, but a little more attention to the details would make the experience so much better.

I liked the cardamom in the Beauty Mark as well that my partner ordered. We ordered shishito peppers and mushroom bahn mi sliders. The mushroom bahn mi sliders were amazing - the quality fillings and taste of the soft bun - I was unexpectedly hit with a bite of spice from maybe jalapeño seeds left but didn't sour my experience. The shishito peppers ended up being extremely spicy as well, those are usually just a few spicy and not the majority. The roasted lemon and salt was a wonderful combo but just too spicy to eat. However, the server very kindly removed it from our bill without us asking. We order the crostini because we were still hungry and that was an absolute hit. Delicious med-soft crostini with luscious berries and sweet honey. I didn't care my hands got sticky as it was soooo good! Great experience, I would be weary if the peppers as I'm a bit spice-intolerant but everything else was spot-on.

Every drink had 10,000 ingredients, and most of them did not work together. If the drink did work together, you just tasted nothing because everything blended together and you couldn't taste any special or fun ingredients.  Unfortunately, I don't think this spot is worth looking for.

We came in hungry and left very happy, especially with the duck‑fat fries, smash burger, chicken and waffles, and fried chicken sandwich. The smash burger is juicy, salty, and charred just right, making it an easy repeat‑order any time of day. Really enjoyed the pickles it came with to cut the fat. Their chicken and waffles are a must‑try for brunch: perfectly crispy buttermilk fried chicken on top of a fluffy, buttery waffle, with sweet maple‑style syrup tying everything together. Very minimal toppings of spinach and tomato as well. Bf got the Korean fried chicken burger which actually was quite good! Better than the noodles. The side salad was a bit oddly salty, but the pickles and burger itself were both well seasoned and yummy. Complimentary dessert was very very kind. Yuka fries, ceviche clasico, carne asana tacos, al pastor tacos. The chips were solidly crisp, crunchy, and paired very well with the ceviche. The carne asana tacos with the salsa macha was juicy and perfectly done, and my favorite small bite of the night.. The Yuka fries were perfectly salted and the aioli dip was exactly what you'd want out of fries. My friends recommended the Kiwi and I found it refreshing, almost like a drink you'd have at a spa or so. I also tried the Oaxacan, which was styled like an old fashioned. I thought it was fair, but if I were to pick a favorite out of the two, the Kiwi would be my choice. Even with a busy crowd, the service was attentive and checked on us every so often. My favorite was the watermelon and guava. I would definitely come back for the drinks. I didn't enjoy the food, and here's where it went wrong. We first got our chips and salsa. The chips are seasoned like Doritos so there's a nice flavor but the seasoning is in consistent. Some pieces were SO salty and some had no seasoning. The salsa is pretty rich as well. When our ceviche came, I ate a bite without the seafood and it tasted fishy. When I tried the actual seafood part, I knew it went bad because it had such a strong odor. We had to send it back but saw them serving it to other people. I eat a lot of seafood and I don't mind a slight fishy taste but this was definitely a food poisoning situation. After that it took a very very long time to get our last dish. Unfortunately when it finally came out, it was a disappointment. The octopus texture tasted like it had freezer burn, then was over cooked, sat too long after it was cooked because they had to make the fries. The fries were fresh but the octopus was dry, cold, hard, and chewy. I've had lots of pulpo before and this was a let down. It was a bummer that we didn't get to eat much and decided to walk somewhere else to finish dinner.
