I cannot tell you how excited I was to find this place. Vegan sushi?! UNHEARD of. Unfortunately I live in Portland or this place would be a go to for me. We tried about 6 different rolls and they were all incredible. The highlight was definitely the Queen Anne, the curry roll was good but definitely could've used a lot more curry sauce. Also had the mango roll, salty sweet is the best combo IMO. If you know someone who poo poos vegan food PLEASE bring them here. Service was super fast and the waiter that evening was very friendly.

We love sushi samurai. We've been several times now and everything we've tried has been good. This last visit we tried a tempura roll (Mr.Krab) and it was great. The service has always been great too.

Had a really lovely experience here! They have a wide selection of options and were able to accommodate my sesame allergy too. They have a menu subset that's also gluten free. Honestly this place is killing it with the dietary options! Every roll I had was tasty and well-made - nothing falling apart. The service was very kind and attentive, checking in if I needed anything and how it was going but not nagging at all. It's a smaller spot but the booths are cozy and they look like they could accommodate a larger group if needed too. Will definitely be back here for more!

LOVE THIS PLACE Vegetarian who lives in Seattle here and let me tell you this place is worth the visit. There are so many sushi shops around but if you have any restrictions with meat or are pregnant and not wanting to eat any or just looking for amazing vegetable based sushi this is for you. Everything is fantastic I recommend going for their special rolls or whatever your server recommends. It can be busy but is never too loud and they I do have a vendetta against the wobbly uncomfy furniture outside I still cannot take this down a star it is too good. Recommend the green goodness, habanero roll, red dragon, and the crusty crab!

I've never had Vegan sushi before. We've walked past this place a lot but never bothered to check it out until today. We were missing out. The inside has soft lighting with plenty of seating. They serve the food with a little robot. Service was phenomenal, they were so kind, checked up on us a lot and also had personalized conversations with multiple people dining in the restaurant. The sushi was so delicious. Great / similar texture of non vegan sushi. We ordered the geisha, spicy tuna, veggie and Queen Anne roll. 14 pieces total between two people. Queen Anne and geisha were definitely a table favorite. The roles were fairly large considering they didn't have a piece of fish in it. 10000% will be returning asap

Glad to have found a vegan sushi spot in Seattle. Never really enjoyed sushi being a vegetarian until today and now have the entire menu to pick from! Food was really good, service was also quick as not too busy on a weekday. We tried spring rolls, mango sake, Mr.Crabs - tempura roll, Maui and strawberry cheesecake . Everything was delicious and exceeded expectations! Will definitely revisit.

Excellent place. It's a small place so booking a reservation is not a bad idea. I went with a friend and we tried all the gluten free rolls. By the way this place is fully vegan. Everything is mocked fish. My favourites were Spicy Tuna, Seattle Roll and Yoga. All are gluten-free. I wouldn't recommend Mango Tango. The service was excellent. Very nice host and really passionate about the restaurant and its menu.

This place is 100% vegan and was the best sushi I've ever had. The crispy shrimp roll and dragon roll were my favorites. My boyfriend and I came here for his birthday and had a great time! The staff were really sweet. I recommend x1000.

Vegan sushi. Looks like fish but it isn't! Incredible!

This sushi is delicious, very satisfying and I didn't miss the fish. Complex flavors, wonderful miso soup too. Great place for a birthday.

Love to see a 100% plant based sushi restaurant in Seattle! We know the city certainly could use the diversity. 5 stars for the creativity of making quality sushi without fish! That's true talent. Service was great. Restaurant is quaint. Fun casual vibe. Food was good but I think we ordered incorrectly for our likings. Everything had the vegan mayo which we quickly realized we do not like. We would love to come back and try all the other rolls with no mayo. As the sushi rolls were good!

Always love coming to vegan sushi places when we travel! The tempura fried one was the best but they have so many options! There is indoor and outdoor seating so perfect for the summer time! Food came quickly and in a nice area! Staff was friendly!

Vegan sushi that tastes just as if it were made of fish

Delicious healthy sushi and more. Kindness all around. So glad there is a vegan sushi place in Seattle

The chef took the time to explain exactly where each piece was sourced, from local Pacific Northwest catches to delicacies flown in directly from Japan, and explained the traditional preparation techniques behind each bite. Hearing the history and reasoning behind how each fish was cured, seared, or seasoned made every course that much more special. We chose the counter seats after waiting for 40 minutes in the lobby and was told it may be another 30 min to get a table. However, I strongly advise against them unless you're planning a quick lunch. The seats are extremely uncomfortable, and people constantly walk past you. Food we ordered: * Crispy rice sampler: A-OK. The tuna is chopped and smothered in spicy mayo and masago * Ahi tuna poke: Recommended! * Ora king salmon sashimi: Decent, kind of fishy though * Filet mignon plate: A-OK but not very filling * Ponyo roll: A-OK * Umi house roll: Would not recommend * Ginger chicken plate: Very salty and does not come with rice The ambiance here is moody and dark, with multiple seating options including a bar, sushi bar, main area, and semi-private floor seating. The food was decent, and the service was fine. The turnaround from ordering to receiving the food was relatively quick, taking about 10-15 minutes. Considering the quality of the food I experienced, their happy hour might be more worthwhile. However, at regular prices, I don't think it's a good deal.

No notes or critiques I love edamame. To drink, I had one of their specialty cocktails. It was their take on a spicy Marg. It was honestly a stellar drink. It was a perfect balance of citrus and spice. I would order this drink again without a doubt good presentation too. We had the toro sampler which came with three different types of Toro with three different toppings. It was cool to get to try the different types of Toro, and I enjoyed tasting them side-by-side to see the differences. The toppings were one of their house, sauces, fried garlic, and chives. I enjoyed the house sauce the best. I was also looking forward to the Crispy Rice which came with crispy rice w/ salmon roe, wasabi aioli, & aonori with spicy tuna. You could choose what type of fish went on it, but obviously we got tuna. This was a yummy bite. Came out piping hot. Beautiful presentation. The tuna was perfectly prepared. The salmon roll was an interesting touch but actually worked well. I think it's sacrilegious to go out for sushi and not get miso soup, so We also added a miso soup to our order. Solid miso soup. No critiques. Came out piping hot. Because I felt like we needed a vegetable, we had the House Spring Mix which came with mixed greens, cherry tomatoes & cucumber w/ spicy garlic ponzu. I enjoy the salad dressings at Japanese restaurants because I feel like they're very distinct. I don't think this one was as distinct, but it was still good. The cherry tomatoes weren't mushy at all, which I appreciated. I do enjoy a spring mix, but Romain or arugula will always have my heart. Moving onto rolls. We started with the Capitol Hill Roll which came with snow crab mix, avocado & cucumber topped w/ seared salmon, scallions, tobiko, sweet aioli, sweet chili & soy glaze. This was my favorite roll of the night, but I would love to go back and try some of their other rolls. They have a huge menu. I love a sushi that has seared salmon, but IDK if that still makes it sushi. My dad loves asparagus, so we got the El Diablo shrimp tempura, shibazuke & asparagus topped w/ seared snow crab legs, pico de gallo & chipotle. It wasn't the most traditional roll, but I did enjoy it. I probably wouldn't order it again when there's so many other good things to try on their menu, but Im glad that I got to try two rolls. Because we're celebrating my mom's birthday, they brought ice cream. It was a solid ice cream, even though we just got vanilla. It had good flavoring, even for vanilla.

Since my wife and I love sushi and were flying back home to LA the following morning, I immediately reserved a table for us at the restaurant for that same evening. Sushi Kashiba is known for its omakase, or chef's choice dinner. However, we went with the set tasting menu called "Peak" since we're not fans of surprises. The Peak option included 14 pieces of nigiri sushi, a cup of salmon roe garnished with wasabi, a fried shrimp head, 2 maki rolls, a light sashimi salad, and miso soup. Additionally, we ordered the tempura set which came with shrimp and assorted vegetables. We came here with high expectations, and this place did not disappoint. Every piece of sushi was a work of art-fresh and perfectly prepared. I've never had toro, tamago, and eel this good. And I've been to some highly regarded sushi restaurants in LA. I even enjoyed the shrimp head. It was crunchy and incredibly delicious. This isn't your typical neighborhood sushi spot. It's a high-end establishment that serves nothing but the best the world has to offer. For that privilege, it's going to cost you. The damage for our meal was over $450. I wouldn't eat here if not committing to the omakase (or the chef's counter), but try to arrive earlier for the better seats (even with a reservation). So I thought, "challenge accepted," and was in front of their doors in about 30 seconds. There was no one waiting and I was pretty shocked; it wasn't until 5:00 on the nose that other people walked up and got in line behind me, most without reservations. So if you're trying to do a walk-up, don't wait until 5:00 to get in line. Get there early. The owner was nice when I told her I didn't have a reservation and she said while all her tables were full, she had bar seating open if I was interested. I said yes, so I was seated in the Hannya Room (and happened to be wearing my Yakuza Majima sukajan with a hannya on the back) with a handful of other people (bar seating is very limited, maybe 12 seats tops, and the room is very narrow). The bartender was cool and offered to take our phones and take photos of the specials on the wall in the foyer so we all didn't have to walk back over there. I actually ended up getting one of the specials, the chicken katsu cutlet with beef curry. From the regular menu, I got a yaki onigiri and some gyoza (which are described as grandma's recipe and handmade), and from the bar I ordered the reggae punch cocktail (Iichiko saiten shochu, peach schnapps, and cold brew oolong tea). The regular menu is extensive, with a lot of comfort dishes and signature dishes I haven't seen elsewhere. Whether you want meat or seafood, there's something for everyone here. The meal was absolutely delicious. The only thing I didn't care for, unfortunately, was the yaki onigiri, because I felt the shoyu they used was just way too sweet. Yaki onigiri is one of my most favorite things on the planet, and Ippuku in Berkeley makes them perfectly. I was expecting the one at Maneki to be on that level, but I was disappointed. But other than that, the curry had great flavor and bit of a kick of heat, and wasn't skimpy on the beef. Lots of potato, too. The katsu was breaded and fried perfectly and the cutlet was pretty generously sized. The gyoza were great, not oily, each one stuffed with meat. I enjoyed the reggae punch and would order it again. I also ordered a glass of iced oolong, so I was feeling pretty refreshed on this warm afternoon with my two drinks. The bartender, who was handling both drinks and food service, was a nice guy with a good sense of humor. The owner also chatted with me on my way out and gave me a little history about why they decided to name the bar the Hannya Room, and some background on all the hannya masks on the wall in the bar. I'd love to come back here the next time I'm in Seattle, but especially to be able to dine in one of the tatami rooms. This was a great meal and it was awesome being able to support this important part of the local history of Seattle's Japantown.
