Their sauce is kind of salty so I'd be curious if they can make veggies or chicken without it and get it on the side? Either way, this is a good stop for take out. It is average. Our favorites are spicy beef and the chicken teriyaki. The beef can be very fatty and the chicken can be overcooked and dry but on a good day, you can have a decent meal. If you ask for the rice and your main dish to be in separate containers, you get less food. Service is very sweet every time. read more

Not the best teriyaki spot in Seattle, but it is the best in Ballard, no contest. Great food, great value, great humans. Typically, I'm a spicy chicken guy. Sometimes I order the regular chicken or a combo. Occasionally I get the yakisoba, and when I do I usually get it with extra veggies because that way it's enough for 2 meals....it's a lot of food for the price, and I very much appreciate that. If you want a nitpick, the chicken could use just a bit more char. Also, the yakisoba comes on top of a scoop of rice, which really seems like it's just there to take up space in the container? Either way, these are half-hearted complaints. The two guys who I see working the counter are always charming and accommodating. They'll tell you 10-15 minutes on the phone; your food will almost always be ready in 10. I have a policy of not tipping when no serving was performed (call me stingy, but it just gets out of hand), but I usually do here . We had a craving for teriyaki and walked into Sunny Teriyaki on a whim. They have a parking lot which is great. We ordered a combo plate that came with chicken, rice, gyoza, an egg roll, and salad. The chicken really hit the spot - not overly saucy, charred just enough, and super juicy! Everything else was good too. I shared this plate with my partner and it was a perfect portion for both of us. Service was excellent. The guy at the front counter was friendly and on top of things, such as bussing tables in between taking orders. Our food came out pretty fast too. read more

Solid teriyaki joint. Good portions and ok price. It was about $18 after tax and tip for teriyaki chicken breast, an egg roll, rice, and salad. Definitely upped the price due to rent and labor costs in Seattle. I have to say the meat is a little dry. I got the teriyaki sauce on the side and only used it to add some moisture to the dish. The chicken teriyaki was average, the sauce was a bit too sweet and salty, but only noticeable if you've had a lot of teriyaki before. I wish they would at least fill the side salad container... it's just iceberg lettuce after all. The chicken katsu was a bit too thin, so it was dry, but stayed crispy for take out. I also wish the katsu came with a side salad, but it just comes with rice. Super generous rice portion. Hands down my favorite terryaki place in Seattle. I used to work in Ballard and this place was a quick walk away. Always fast, always amazing! If you keep an eye out on the daily specials you can get lunch cheaper. The terryaki is the best thing here. Followed by the chicken katsu. Don't believe me? We ordered delivery through Postmates and got the spicy chicken, orange chicken, and shrimp fried rice. We were pleasantly surprised on how big each of the portions were! Each entree came with a side salad with sesame dressing and a bunch of meat + rice. Orange chicken was our favorite, as it was nicely flavored and still relatively crispy when it got to us. The spicy chicken was decent and had SOOO much chicken, but it was a bit too flavorful and spicy for my fiancé. So i got the combo teriyaki plate with chicken and beef with a side of the 5 piece gyoza The beef was pretty good tbh but the chicken was mediocre at best. Review in the Time of Covid I called ahead for my order, and was very pleased when I got there that they take precautions seriously! They have probably the most extensive system to keep their customers safe that I've seen so far! They have sheeting between the cash wrap and the customer, they have a tray for you to slide your card, they have Lysol wipes, hand sanitizer, and cleaned pens in a jar clearly marked, that you use to sign your receipt and put in the dirty pen jar! They put your food in a bag far from them, to the side, for you to pick up and go! That being said, my spicy pork teriyaki and egg rolls were really good. I've been coming here for years, and it was really nice to have some teriyaki after a few months without. My only sadness was that the pork was a tad sweeter than I remember (still delicious, but not what I remember), and the egg rolls were half the size. There egg rolls used to be my favorite in the whole city - and I guess they still are - but I'd like the enormously long egg rolls cut in half in a total of 4 pieces in my order of "2 egg rolls," instead of the 2 pieces of 2 egg rolls. Still delicious, but not quite the same. This is definitely a place worth ordering from! Pro-tip! You get the best deal by using a search engine to find and hand-dial their phone number. Ballard is sorely lacking in good Asian food, so I'm grateful for this Japanese neighborhood gem. It's a basic no frills mom and pop family owned hole-in-the-wall serving authentic teriyaki. The meat is generously coated in a delicious and flavorful teriyaki sauce, and the portions are American-sized. I ordered the spicy chicken and loved it. We will be returning regularly.
