Checked out The Standard recently. It's a decent spot if you're already there for drinks, but the food didn't quite live up to the presentation. We tried the meatballs and steak sliders, which were alright, but nothing I'd go out of my way to order again. The tater tots and fried shrimp were standard pub fare--crispy enough, but fairly basic. Everything was edible and the service was fine, but it felt a bit heavy and lacked any "wow" factor. It's a "one and done" kind of place for me food-wise, though it's a perfectly fine atmosphere for a casual beer.

Absolutely love this place! It's everything you'd expect from a great local sports bar right in the heart of El Segundo. I've been here a few times, and the staff are usually friendly. Their happy hour is an amazing deal -- Monday through Friday until 6 PM, with plenty of tasty items for just $7. And the HH food is really tasty (sliders highly recommended). Parking is usually easy to find, either in the nearby shopping mall or across the street, and there's also free street parking around. Great value for money, fun atmosphere, and they even host events like karaoke nights (check their website for dates -- usually Fridays). They have high top tables outside, with heathers if it's cold, as well as the usual seating options indoor.

Went to Standard Station with a couple of friends. We mostly wanted a quick bite and somewhere our dog and cat could be with us. (Dog leashed/ cat in a cat backpack) We sat outside and were helped pretty fast. The wings (bone in and boneless) were very good. We also enjoyed the fries. They turned on the heaters for us. Definitely coming back.

Great Food and Service. I was there for the World Series Games and the place was Packed. The Staff was Great and the Service was still on Point! Would definitely recommend for and Sporting Events.

    Burger with pineapple and fries.

The food was okay, nothing to write home about. I like the crispiness of the chicken, but the spread they used was not my taste and the overall experience was messy. The cold beer was a plus.

Met a friend on a Saturday afternoon. Literally talked for hours! My friend is a regular there so they didn't rush us. Always there for baseball, birthday, etc. at first they were playing radio music, which was too loud for me. I could hear my friend talk. Minus the 1 star. I know... I'm in a bar. Then they had a guy in the corner with live music after. Which is nice! We both weren't too hungry and wanted finger foods to graze on. I loved the tots! Nice n crispy! Chili was delicious, could have eaten a bowl of that! Servers knew my friend and stopped to chat. Nice to have friendly people!

I limped in here with my Mom and her 3 friends after Tuesday evening Pickleball as they had me sprinting all across that 44 x 20 slab of asphalt. This is their go to happy hour spot after whacking that little wiffle ball around for 2 hours, so I thought it'd be fun to tag along. As we entered, they said hi to their favorite server and said "just the usual please" before we even sat down. They really DO this ahahaha. After sitting in a 4 person booth along with the "Moms Mafia," as they dub themselves, I began to take in my surroundings. Named after the Standard Oil Company (before it was renamed to Chevron in 1984), The Standard Station is the perfect mix of a divey sports bar, but without being too grungy. It is clean and well kept, but you can feel the character and just the overall soul of El Segundo in here. I love El Segundo so much, it reminds me exactly of what Manhattan Beach was 20+ years ago. Did you know El Segundo got its name because it was the site of the second Standard Oil refinery on the West Coast, when Standard Oil of California purchased the farmland in 1911? Because I didn't. Learn something everyday, damn... But I digress-- The happy hour menu is ELITE, as everything on there is $7 or less. Felt like I had warped space time reality to travel back to 2008 with this pricing. We opted to get nachos, popcorn shrimp, and the tots. The food was solid for sports bar food, slightly better than what you would expect...AMPLE portion size though you gotta LOVE that. I ended up walking into an ambush with the Moms Mafia, as they began to pepper me with questions about my new girlfriend. As I was alternating between bites of chicken nachos and popcorn shrimp I would have to answer everything from "So what does she do for fun?" to "Can we see some more pictures this is just one?" to "So when did you know that you LIKE like her"........ but it's okay cuz tbh I'm kinda smitten and like talking about it hehehehehe. All in all, I loved this place like I love El Segundo. So much soul, so much character. Ideal place to watch a game, to post up on a Saturday/Sunday and watch football, or to come after a good Pickleball sweat with the Moms Mafia. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

Met up with friends to watch Game 4 of this year's MLB World Series between the Texas Rangers and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Arrive several hours before the game to take advantage of the Happy Hour (3-6). No dedicated parking lot. At least nothing marked and no mention of it by staff or signage. Street parking available but there's a two hour limit until 6PM. Don't know if parking is strictly enforced. Not something I like to test. I parked on a side street that has no restrictions and walked a block to the station. No worries about tickets. There's a Rite Aid parking lot but there are signs reading for customers only. Park at your own risk. Service was excellent all staff who served us. Caught the shift change so I'm referring to both the day and evening crew. They were attentive. Friendly. All the usual even when business picked up with other sports fans as well as people coming in to hang out for Halloween. Food was standard - no pun intended. Meaning not gourmet but decent enough for the setting. See pics. The only knock I have is that I ordered Chicken Wings with Nashville hot and it didn't register or even tingle. I even asked the staff if I was given the right order. The server told me it's hot for the clientele and brought me out a cup of what he referred to as the spiciest sauce the kitchen has. Still didn't register but had a nice char flavor that I enjoyed. Lots of TV's to where we could watch the World Series, a NHL hockey game and eventually the Clipper game. Lots of seating with booths on the edges and both bar height and standard height tables, plus a bar and bar area. There's also outdoor seating too. Liked the place. Definitely be on my list of places to go to watch games

(Dined 10/31/2023 TU @ 3:45pm): This station was kind of standard for a sports bar! A friend suggested a bunch of us caught up with each other at The Standard Station Sports Bar & Grill to accommodate another friend who lived closer to the area and apparently they had a decent happy hour menu. This was definitely out of my usual range, but I haven't hung out with this group of buds for awhile, and someone did say "happy hour"! When my friend mentioned this place, my first thought was, "Isn't that an oil company"? Sure enough, I was correct, although I couldn't determine what the connection was outside of the respective logos being similar. Would this place be your standard sports bar!? PURCHASE Pabst Blue Ribbon "PBR" American Lager Beer Schooner 33.8floz Draft ($9.00 HH): Golden amber color, malty aroma, low body, light malty watery flavor, clean finish, and light malty watery aftertaste - it was this or a Coors Light! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=NNbAvyijPnfWJdSeearr0Q&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Popcorn Shrimp ($7.00 HH): A plate filled with lightly-battered crunchy fried ocean bottom feeders served with a side of marinara dipping sauce (not remoulade as advertised), this was a nice way to start the grubbing and sharing although I elt these were simply frozen from a bag. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=hzkF1Wnt1YpWlngroGkGaA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Green Chili Chicken Street Tacos 2pc ($7.00 HH): Each of these were packed with a ton of chicken and other ingredients, I wished they were more flavorful and spicier (I added Tapatio), but they were filling and did the job. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=cnMbpi39i7pScpfwr38pdg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw All American Sliders 2pc ($7.00 HH): Your "standard" sliders of beef patties, cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, and some kind of sauce. They lacked significant flavor, the meat was a tad dry, but they satisfied me enough. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=_ETufC357yrbswZumqljrg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Standard Margarita ($7.00 HH): It wet my whistle, but the ingredients used definitely were bottom shelf stuff. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=LI1qd1F7AQYMEifto9Qghw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Baked Italian Meatball Platter 3pc ($7.00): These balls were sizable, juicy, laid in a puddle of marinara sauce with a side of thin bread, and was probably my favorite of the bunch. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=v7mm_zFIE3B8wXEwCEgA9Q&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Bavarian Churros 4pc ($8.00): Dry and lukewarm, the inside cream was lovely. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=B94fkFgvbaFAVejKAIkTww&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw SERVICE Two friends were already there and it wasn't quite busy yet, so I was able to place my first order quickly and everything came out within minutes of each other. Once it got busier and a shit in servers, my second order took longer to place and receive. It was all good since it seemed they were short-staffed like all restaurants these days - no worries! PARKING (FREE) Only timed 2-hour street parking until 6pm everywhere, I ended-up parking next door at the spacious Rite Aid lot - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A neighborhood bar feel where the inside with its various booths, bar seating, and high tables/chairs quickly got packed once the crowd came in. There was also a front patio area with a ton of places to sit. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=b139ngMZdwzgfjdqGnDTaw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw I was surprised by the minimum amount of displayed promotional things. Plenty of natural lighting came in through the large windows and doorway during the daytime while dim ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were more than ten TVs throughout but couldn't recall if there was any background music. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=0ibYjKdsMWvCxJcj2GSqcg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I enjoyed The Standard Station Sports Bar & Grill for what it offered having caught up with some friends. However, I was generally disappointed with the food (I guess I shouldn't have expected too much), the lack of parking (thank goodness I didn't get a ticket from Rite Aid), and the service was decent enough. However, I always appreciated happy hour. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Mk3SnRr-7KOtmlOlYVsCzg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw The regular menu was varied enough as an alternative. Plus, I always enjoyed supporting mom & pop businesses. I found good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $56.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... Our server was very attentive, kind, patient, and accommodating. For example, when my sister in law asked if there was a kid's menu for her children, the server politely stated that they didn't have one. However, he immediately picked up on the fact that these kids were highly fussy and picky eaters, and offered up buttered noodles, something that was not on the menu. The kids ended up loving this. I, on the other hand, was disappointed with most of the food I had. If I had to rate the food, it would be 3 stars. I ordered the MB Post Burger, which comes with a 1/2 pound grilled patty, American Cheese, applewood bacon, and honey chipotle aioli, between English muffin buns. I added a sunny side up egg to it for an extra few bucks. The burger was messy, and difficult to eat. Ended up having to eat it with a fork and knife. I expected the egg to be a bit runny, but it was cooked all the way through. All in all, it wasn't enjoyable to eat. The crispy fries were not any better. To me, they tasted overly fried. The only thing I thought was exceptional was the bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuit with the whipped honey butter. It was buttery and crispy goodness. This item alone is worth coming back to this restaurant. Overall, this place is a solid 4 star restaurant. If you're planning on visiting this place, I have to warn you that parking may be a real pain to find since the area is very popular with beach goers. Things were exacerbated over the weekend due to a volleyball tournament. Had to drive around for like 30 minutes to find parking.
