This place is incredible! One of the biggest menus I have ever seen, tons of great flavor combinations . It's super clean, and the staff is crazy friendly. I loved my veggie dinner, eggplant, peppers, rich, falafel and goat cheese covered in a honey glaze wow!!! Disappointing meal at the The Spot. The menu itself has some cool concepts, but the execution was lacking. We ordered two soups - Cauliflower and Cheese and Roasted Red Pepper with Cashew Cream. The roasted red pepper soup was great and the cauliflower and cheese soup was good - lacked flavor but was heavy on the pepper. The texture was also a little off putting. Next we ordered the goat cheese appetizer,, which came with some kind of apple jam and toasts. The idea was good execution was missing. We were given 5 pearl size pieces of goat cheese (looked like mini fresh mozzarella balls with the jam placed on top. The toasts looked like something that was found at the bottom of the bag, and then a handful of spinach? We then ordered the "crab" cake sandwich (vegetarian) and a summer berry salad. The "crab" patty looked good upon presentation, but the taste was meh. The patty needed to be cooked more to give it a crust and the filling part was mushy with a bad after taste. The salad was not balanced wayyy too much spinach, not enough romaine, the toppings seemed random and did not balance the amount of lettuce. The grilled chicken, although seasoned good, tasted pre cooked, heated by the microwave and was dry. The salad dressing was homeade but missed the mark in texture and flavor.We picked through both dishes but left unsatisfied. There is a sign when you enter that thanks patrons for supporting small business. Upon reading it, we were genuinely happy to be supporting the business, but after the meal - things will have to change with better quality food being presented or people may not come back and support. read more

Basmati lamb wrap from specials menu was my boyfriend's favorite. I had a blackened chicken sandwich and my friend had a steak sandwich but both were very unique and made of high quality ingredients. Our server was Madison and she was perfect. I went there for the first time with a colleague and I wasn't sure what to expect. I heard about The Spot for awhile but was hesitant to go. Now I wish I would have gone sooner. It is small but charming. The waitress was helpful and enthusiastic. She gave us some great suggestions on what to get. I ordered the sweet potato wonton, the loaded fries minus the bacon and a cup of some kind of spicy pumpkin soup. The soup was amaze balls. The sweet potato wonton were okay. They were a bit cold (hence the -1 star). The loaded fries were good. I also had a pineapple ginger elixer which was out of this world! I definitely look forward to going back and trying more dishes. I love that they have an eclectic menu. Its nice to see something different in this area since my fav eatery closed :( (Bongos in Ocean City) I will post again when I go to see if they earn that extra star! read more

When they first opened, this place was amazing. The soups were delicious. The owner was the cook and he was approachable, friendly and had a great food attitude. However..We stopped coming here for awhile because the service had become consistently rude, even condescending.. and the food wasn't much better. I have lived and traveled all over the world so my gastronomic preferences are quite varied, and I'm not always happy about eating out with friends who are typically diner or fast food fans. I'll always find something to eat, but have never found a "general type menu" restaurant that I'd "write home about". That is until I wandered into "The Spot" restaurant in Northfield to kill some time and grab a late lunch while waiting for a car repair. The regular menu is quite nice, but the other menu changes daily and includes a great variety of cuisines including some Asian, Mexican and other types. The food was excellent and the service was great thanks to Sylvia and Elizabeth. They are extremely efficient and outgoing which makes my meal pleasant. Even the music was wonderful. It was Blues, a little too loud, but far better than most music I hear in restaurants that makes me want to leave or just get take out! I couldn't have asked for more. They don't give themselves enough credit in their advertising and it's hard to judge a place by it's ads, so you must give it a try. Their location is convenient in the Tilton Shopping Center near the Tilton Theater. Perhaps one day, they'll relocate to Egg Harbor Twp. which is more convenient for me and I could eat there more often!!! :) read more

Come here all the time, big fan of the food and of the elixirs. However, tonight will be one of the last times I come here in a long long time. The wait to get our menu was around 7 minutes. The wait to order was even longer. Then when we were trying to enjoy our appetizer of the Thai Chicken Wings, they started bleeding profusely, just dripping blood. This of course was comped. No manager came by to see how we were doing after this horrible experience, we just wanted to leave at this point. Will not be returning for a long time unfortunately. To top it all off the restaurant commented on my Facebook review denying that they even made a mistake. There response is as follows " We are so sorry you had to wait 7 mins as we are currently hiring more staff as we are getting into our busier season. We choose to use fresh chicken wings instead of frozen because we believe it is a healthier choice for our customers. Occasionally what comes along with fresh meat is you may come across a vein (which is what happened in this incident). We do cook our wings twice for crispness. The "blood dripping" from your wings was actually our Thai chili sauce which is red orange in color that we coat the wings in when they are done cooking. We did not charge you for the wings since you were unhappy with them. However, we will still continue to use fresh wings as most of our customers prefer them over frozen." Stopped in here with family for Sunday breakfast and would recommend. Not too many vegan breakfast options (e.g.-tofu scramble - hint hint) but the entire menu is available in the morning and there are vegan options on the menu. I ended up getting the kale mushroom appetizer which I liked a lot and had an egg white omelette with veggies. I look forward to coming back to try some of the vegan options for lunch/dinner. Not only was the service absolutely horrendous, the food was cold and I found a piece of plastic in my food! When I finally got the servers attention to tell them about this, their response was "we are busy". I got the manager / owner and their response was "it happens. We are busy". Very poor quality in food. I had high hopes from reading other reviews and seeing that every table was full when I walked in. We ordered take out and were very disappointed when we got home to eat. The sweet potato soup had zero flavor and a lumpy texture instead of smooth and creamy like most sweet potato soups should be. The burger was a mess; my dad can't have sesame seeds so he asked for a different bun. All they had was sourdough bread. How do you not have another variety of roll for your burgers?? Putting it on sour dough was a huge mistake. The burger to bread ratio was way off. The quinoa salad was very bland and boring and not even worth eating. Once seated we were brought large mason jars filled with water. My companion and I ordered coffee which was disgustingly watered down. Honestly, why is it so hard to get a decent cup of coffee outside one's home!? After perusing the short list of standard breakfast options I decided on the Texas Crunch described as "texas toast dusted with a sweet crunch". They were nice enough to warn me that it's made with a twist...captain crunch cereal was the sweet crunch part. I LOVE french toast. It's my absolute fav breakfast item, so i took the chance and ordered it anyway. I assumed it was thick cuts of bread given the name of this item was TEXAS TOAST aka bread that is double the thickness of regular sliced bread, but upon its arrival is was mere slivers of bread that looked more like silver dollars on an angle. Very disappointing... you can not call it TEXAS toast if it is not in fact TEXAS toast. It didn't even taste good, it didn't taste awful, but I'd much rather prefer REAL texas toast and if they wanted to make it with sweet crunch, they should make the sweet crunch part with oats or something closer to a crumble topping. Will not be coming back here since I can not trust the descriptions on the menu. P.S. We have been looking for a great lunch spot to stop on our way down to the Cape May ferry for years - and the search is over! The kids LOVED the mac & cheese (wild mushrooms on the side, which the adults enjoyed), and all of our food was fresh and delicious. We had a charred tomato parm soup, open-faced NJ tomato mozzarella sandwich, Thai tuna wrap, and the Feel Good salad. Yum! They are busy for lunch and dinner because of the quality of their food. With strong local support and steady stream of customers, I'm guessing they'll have enough money to renovate the space soon. We went for breakfast on a Sunday morning. We drink tea, not coffee. Asked for breakfast tea also known as real tea. Our server brought a basket of herbal "tea", no caffeine in those . We again requested tea. Ten minutes later she came back, pointed to the basket and said"this is tea". Bad attitude. Oh and they don't serve pancakes. We left. my wife has gone a few times on her own since she has been spending time at a business next door and she always talks about it so we went together on a recent weekend and it was great. i had the burg sliders but with Korean BBQ pork on top. i also had the coconut key lime mason jar drink. i'm thrown off a bit by the price of some of the mason drinks considering they don't have alcohol, haha...but they are tasty. i can't remember what she had because she's been going so much and i've seen so many pictures but i believe she has liked it all. i hear no complaints. the ambiance is still horrendous, but on a positive note our server was really solid. for once someone was paying attention to the waters - you'd be amazed at how often servers are totally clueless when it comes to that. i drink a lot with my meals and so often i have to steal water from my wife's glass. many times i'll ask for two waters or a pitcher but really, we are tipping these people to be attentive so it's refreshing to have a server crush it. read more
