First time at this place and I can't believe it took so long to discover it. Tuesday afternoon, two o'clock and the parking lot is almost full!!! Lunch is very reasonable here and delicious. I started with a large bowl of Maryland crab soup. It was excellent slightly spicy. Next up the crab cake sandwich. It came with fries and a pickle and was delicious. My wife had the Jersey broiled scallops with green beans and a squash dish. Absolutely fabulous. Old school Jersey shore seafood restaurant and it does not disappoint. Had dinner there last night. Walked in w/o reservations at about 6pm and was told we would have to wait for a table for 2 as it was packed. I don't think even a minute went by and we were seated in a booth by the bar. Right where we like it! Had surf and turf. The filet was excellent and the twin(Maine) tails were even better! Also had seafood chowder and Caesar salad w chicken which was also delicious! Have had steamed clams in the past and they are so tender and tasty. No dessert. Oh, the gin martini was so good as well. The crab trap consistently delivers a delicious meal, with fresh seafood and great preparation. The Delaware bay oysters were salty and briny and the large ones were smooth. Yum! We ordered a few apps including the lobster puffs, crab bisque soup (plenty of crab chunks) and the clams casino (delicious.) but the highlight of the evening was the pistachio halibut - omg so fresh and flavorful. The crab imperial was good, but not great. The parm was huge, and yummy. That said, the CT is always worth a visit, and the menu is plentiful so there's something for everyone. read more

I had a delicious dinner at The Crab Trap. My friend and I especially enjoyed the appetizers - the Maryland Crab Bites were to die for, and the oysters were so fresh. For my main, I ordered the broiled flounder, and it was so tender and perfectly cooked. The sweet potato was also so fresh and delicious. I have to say that this place is great with its portions - each main comes with a choice of two sides and a salad, and there are so many options to choose from. As for the ambience, it is a chic, upscale place that is very elegant. Despite this, it doesn't feel stuffy - it creates a nice and elevated dining experience. We waited an hour and 45 min. For some seafood. The soups were delicious, the crab cakes were freshly made. My seafood pasta was also had plenty of crab meat. The ambience is a bit dated but service was really prompt and friendly. The food came out a little longer then usual. When I say this is seafood heaven, I mean it. This is quite possibly the best all in one place seafood restaurant that money can buy. My fiancé and I made coming here at least once during the summer a tradition for the past 3 years. The restaurant does not need my help with a review as wait can reach 2-3 hours on weekends during the summer. Thankfully they have a little dock bar called Crabby Jack's that is perfect to sit at and hang out while you wait for your table. You will dine like a seafood king or queen when you eat here. Everything is extremely fresh and delicious. It all tastes like it was just caught. The decor of the restaurant is nautical and lines up perfectly with the experience. The waitresses are typically pretty great and use to the large summer crowds. There really isn't much else to say, if you are anywhere near here on the shore and you want seafood, this is a can't miss. read more

What a great place! We came in and sat at the bar on a Thursday night, and it was perfect. We had exceptional service, and the food was right on par. All of the seafood was absolutely delicious, and the portions were generous for the price. The oysters on the half shell were shucked really well, and the swordfish special was outstanding. It's been a few years since we dined here as it's usually very busy during the summer season. The restaurant itself is pretty massive and we were fortunate we didn't have to wait today. It's been ages since our last visit, and I'm happy to see that not much has changed. Sure, prices are on the higher side like everywhere else, but the quality of the food and service totally made up for it. The martini was on point, though I wished the bigger portion from the bar (the sidecar) was available for those dining in too. 7/6/24 We got there just before 6pm thinking it was early, boy were we wrong! 1 hr 40 min later we got seated. Never have we waited so long to be seated. We usually leave but we were not starving so we opted to stay. It was well worth the wait. We understand why people were willing to wait. Service was impeccable and food was amazing. The restaurant is huge inside. There is the bar section when you enter, a more casual section, and then a fine dining section. With some private party rooms that they opened to dining since there were larger groups. We were seated in the fine dining section so it was very nice. We felt under dressed in shorts and graphic tees hehehe. I believe our waiter was Oscar, I forgot to write it down for this review. Very helpful and patient even though there were so many other large tables. He kept coming to check on us and to let us know our drink/food is being prepared or it's coming out soon. Pina Colada was surprisingly good, creamy coconut, usually you don't taste the coconut Mocktail was delicious, I just forgot the name. Stuffed Onion Ring - ok the best onion ring we've ever had! To bad it was just 1, hehehe Twin Lobster Tails were fresh and well seasoned Second Mate - broiled platter - lobster tail, shrimp, scallops, deviled clam, deviled crab and fish fillet - this was a delicious combination of all seafoods you would want. I did like the deviled clam the best! I had to tell all of my friends and coworkers they had to stop in if they ever visit the area. During the summer season, there is a long wait for dinner, no reservations BUT there's a reason and it is worth it. They also give a longer wait but it ends up being shorter than expected. You can hang at the bar (drinks are good and storing) to wait or head to Jack's Shack along the water and drink there if its opened. The food does not disappoint no matter what you get. The oysters were fresh, the onion bloom is better than Outback's, and you can't go wrong with the soups. The bread basket they bring has piping hot bread and muffins, but be careful not to eat too much because you will get full before the mains arrive. Most meals come with a side salad and a ton of side options. Get the softshell crab special if they have it. My steamed lobster (also have the choice of broiled) was flavorful, mahi mahi was delicious. Stopping here every time we visit is a must. The staff is friendly, food comes out quick. We were a party of 6 taken care of by Dariana. Her warmth, enthusiasm & professionalism set the tone for a great night out. We started with the homemade hot, crispy muffins & warm rolls with butter. I had the crab legs which were done to perfection and my husband had fried shrimp. Other meals at our table were the Second Mate platter & deviled crab. Everyone was very happy with their meal. Dariana and her teammates handled our table with ease and efficiency. The personability of the folks working tonight made us feel like welcomed guests.
