I went here for lunch. I had a crab cake which was very good. I started with a bowl of crab bisque, it was outstanding!! One of my sides was coleslaw, it was the best I ever had! Our server was pleasant and helpful. I will definitely go back anytime I'm in the area! read more

First ... the bar.... bartenders are like ghosts. Never around, ignore you, place an order and they forget to make your drink. Zero here! Entertainment: May & Natalie...too loud, pitchy, screechy, just plain terrible! Dining: In seat one minute: "ready to order" doesn't introduce herself, wants to rush you through. One app comes; 10 mins until next. The wait staff must have a high turnover rate. They act as if they have no experience at all. Why is it so hard to train the help and if the bar is short bartenders, hire more!! If you're going to have music, have a group that can actually sing, not scream off key. The food was excellent but the hapless "help" diminished the dining experience. read more

Since it's across the bay from Ocean City, NJ (which is a "DRY" town for alcohol), this is the nearest restaurant where one can have alcohol with your meal, hence it's popularity. Otherwise, it's Just a local restaurant with average/below average food, prices and service. Oh, the parking is "HORRIBLE" during the summer "SHOBIE" (Tourist season). read more

Lunch at the Crab Trap turned out to be the blandest most boring meal of two weeks in Atlantic City. We assumed because this restaurant is huge and has a big packed parking lot that they really had something going on inside. But our meals and lackluster service proved our assumption wrong. We entered through the door nearest the parking lot, and apparently that was the bar. We were directed to two different stations before someone could seat us. Locals may know where to go for hostess seating, but a newcomers are confused by your massive restaurant and layout. Although we were seated without a wait, our server didn't greet us for a VERY LONG TIME. I asked a few of my many questions before ordering, and he was able to answer. After only ordering lunch specials and water, perhaps we weren't looking like a lucrative table, so it seemed service was perfunctory and we got delayed responses at every encounter. Even getting water refilled seemed a struggle. One lunch sized clam linguine and one broiled fish lunch special with risotto and pickled beets as a side. The clam linguine came with a nice price of toasted baguette, and three clams in shell plus more chopped. It was acceptable. The broiled fish was fine, tender flaky and lightly seasoned, but the risotto was heavy, gloppy, sticky goo. The plate was adorned with a tiny sad little lettuce leaf and a thin slice of lemon. The pickled beets were a nice change of pace, I will say. We didn't order dessert. There was a tremendous wait for the check, even though we asked for it before we finished eating. An unremarkable $36 lunch for us, we paid the bill, and after another very long wait got our credit card back and left. Not sure why this place has such good ratings, it seemed very average. read more

The food was very good, but the waiter was not friendly and rude. He rushed us to leave so quickly that he started cleaning the dishes off our table as soon as we put down our fork. I might come back for takeout, but I wouldn't dine in. The place is clean. If you are Asian, don't come here to eat. Get better waiter or train them better to serve people without judging based on their Nationality. read more

Our waiter was extremely professional, knowledgeable and very helpful. We asked for recommendations and he was eager to help and answer our questions. We we asked about the oysters he was quick to recommend and they were amazing. When we asked him about some other menu items, he did make suggestions, after a wonderful conversation, we were shocked to find out that the waiter staff NEVER get samples of the food or even a meal! What!!! How is the staff supposed to make suggestions and answer questions about the menu if they are not even offered a tasting or a sampling of the food that the restaurant has on their menu shame on you crab trap you're making enough money. Let your staff taste something or even let them have a meal in the beginning of their shift very disappointed on how you're treating your weight staff. read more

One hour wait at 4:37 on a Sat night did not surprise us. Sat right at the hour mark. Special seafood bisque was very good as were our sesame rare tuna and crispy crab cakes. Excellent price points. My only suggestions are as follows. When serving your excellent stewed tomatoes, a teaspoon should be auto presented. Very hard to eat with a fork and they were too bust to ask our server for one. Any crab cake order should also come with a small shaker jar of d Bay. Our waitress did bring us some, but way too much in the little cup. Wasteful but we took the remainder home. We'll def be back!! read more

I had a delicious dinner at The Crab Trap. My friend and I especially enjoyed the appetizers - the Maryland Crab Bites were to die for, and the oysters were so fresh. For my main, I ordered the broiled flounder, and it was so tender and perfectly cooked. The sweet potato was also so fresh and delicious. I have to say that this place is great with its portions - each main comes with a choice of two sides and a salad, and there are so many options to choose from. As for the ambience, it is a chic, upscale place that is very elegant. Despite this, it doesn't feel stuffy - it creates a nice and elevated dining experience. Our server was lovely, and the service was great. Overall, a great experience! read more

First time at this place and I can't believe it took so long to discover it. Tuesday afternoon, two o'clock and the parking lot is almost full!!! Lunch is very reasonable here and delicious. I started with a large bowl of Maryland crab soup. It was excellent slightly spicy. Next up the crab cake sandwich. It came with fries and a pickle and was delicious. My wife had the Jersey broiled scallops with green beans and a squash dish. Absolutely fabulous. Old school Jersey shore seafood restaurant and it does not disappoint. This is now on my go to list read more

I shouldn't write this review because it will attract more people. Been here a couple times. OMG this was again fabulous. Went with the girls and we are now in a food coma. Salmon fantastic, filter wow tender and delicious, crispy crabcakes, not as fantastic as I would want but really good! And the halibut was too die for!!!!! Never disappoints....stellar service, good fresh seafood and we got there in time to avoid the long wait that usually comes in summer. Veal pesca, shrimp stuffed with crab imperialism, little neck clams, clams casino, crab cakes, wedge salad....it was a lot ....all good read more

The crab trap consistently delivers a delicious meal, with fresh seafood and great preparation. The Delaware bay oysters were salty and briny and the large ones were smooth. Yum! We ordered a few apps including the lobster puffs, crab bisque soup (plenty of crab chunks) and the clams casino (delicious.) but the highlight of the evening was the pistachio halibut - omg so fresh and flavorful. The crab imperial was good, but not great. The parm was huge, and yummy. That said, the CT is always worth a visit, and the menu is plentiful so there's something for everyone. read more

We waited an hour and 45 min. For some seafood. The soups were delicious, the crab cakes were freshly made. My seafood pasta was also had plenty of crab meat. The ambience is a bit dated but service was really prompt and friendly. The food came out a little longer then usual. When I say this is seafood heaven, I mean it. This is quite possibly the best all in one place seafood restaurant that money can buy. My fiancé and I made coming here at least once during the summer a tradition for the past 3 years. The restaurant does not need my help with a review as wait can reach 2-3 hours on weekends during the summer. Thankfully they have a little dock bar called Crabby Jack's that is perfect to sit at and hang out while you wait for your table. You will dine like a seafood king or queen when you eat here. Everything is extremely fresh and delicious. It all tastes like it was just caught. The decor of the restaurant is nautical and lines up perfectly with the experience. The waitresses are typically pretty great and use to the large summer crowds. There really isn't much else to say, if you are anywhere near here on the shore and you want seafood, this is a can't miss. read more

This place is awful. It serves food that taste like you are eating in a cafeteria or one of those all you can eat buffet. The first red flag should have been the size of the restaurant; it resembles a block with 3 separate dining rooms. There is no way a restaurant that size can serve fresh and favorable food. I had the broiled seafood platter. The scallops and small lobster tail was the only recognizable item on the plate. The two shrimp were rubbery and I don't know what the rest of the slop was. The bake potatoes was like an oversize fingerling potato and it was hard. The cole slaw is swimming in who knows what. My husband had the chicken piccatta which was tasteless and had gravy that looked like it had been warmed up a week ago. I must say the service was good. They get you in and out and the wait is long, but people were waiting. As a tourist I am guessing that there aren't many good restaurants in the area. Terrible next time we will get a sub from a deli which has to be better than what they serve. read more

Had dinner there last night. Walked in w/o reservations at about 6pm and was told we would have to wait for a table for 2 as it was packed. I don't think even a minute went by and we were seated in a booth by the bar. Right where we like it! Had surf and turf. The filet was excellent and the twin(Maine) tails were even better! Also had seafood chowder and Caesar salad w chicken which was also delicious! Have had steamed clams in the past and they are so tender and tasty. No dessert. Oh, the gin martini was so good as well. Service was good and atmosphere is always uplifting. See you next time. read more

One of my wife's favorites every time we visit her folks in Linwood. The food, service and atmosphere are excellent.

What a great place! We came in and sat at the bar on a Thursday night, and it was perfect. We had exceptional service, and the food was right on par. All of the seafood was absolutely delicious, and the portions were generous for the price. The oysters on the half shell were shucked really well, and the swordfish special was outstanding. It can get a little loud, but we were still able to have conversations without any issue. read more

Excellent food, excellent service had just what we wanted. Love the muffins and rolls.

I remember this restaurant from when I was a kid 30-40 years ago, and always loved it. We moved out of state, and visited for the first time in decades last week. What a let down. The crab cakes were legitimately excellent. Everything else was average or below. In particularly the bread - both the dinner rolls served to the table and the roll with the crab cake sandwich - was some of the worst bread I've ever been served at a restaurant. It would have been preferable to be served Kings Hawaiian rolls from the grocery store. read more

We came here with our friends for lunch on a Sunday and had a lovely experience. Everything we had ordered was excellent. It's been a few years since we dined here as it's usually very busy during the summer season. The restaurant itself is pretty massive and we were fortunate we didn't have to wait today. Our server Bonnie was wonderful which added to the pleasant experience. Will definitely take advantage of the winter months to visit more often as the area is less crowded. Give it a try and say hi to Bonnie =) read more
