It has been a few years since my initial review of The Point. I gave this location four stars and, in the years since, it has definitely a solid place for visitors and locals alike. Here are the positives: 1. The menu: They have a very extensive drink menu, with plenty of cocktails, including margaritas, canned drinks, and other specialty drinks. I wish they would serve more mocktails, but that's just me. 2. The atmosphere: This is an excellent place to enjoy the bayside views and hear live music, and it's even on a sunny day. 3. The service: This location has plenty of staff on hand, but you may have to flag someone down if it's busy. The food and drinks here are very good and compliment the atmosphere very well. I will say there are a couple of downsides: Cover charge: If you want to come here on the weekend, be prepared to pay at the door. The cost to come here is $5 per person, and while that may be alright for those who are vacationing here, it can become quite costly for locals. I really wish places like this offered a seasonal pass then I'd be back much more often. One of the more negative experiences I had was using the bathroom. I did have an incident at the Somers Point location where I locked the bathroom door and a member of their staff walked in on me and, at one point, banged a broom against the window. I'm not sure if any of their locations have some type of bathroom policy, but it didn't seem quite professional and felt very awkward. If you plan on using the bathroom here, make sure the door if completely locked. read more

The Point Bar is a complete rip-off; the food is mediocre at best and astronomically overpriced for what you actually get. To make matters worse, The bouncer is a total power-tripping jerk, he gave my 22-year-old daughter an unnecessary, condescending hard time over her ID like he was guarding Fort Knox. Avoid this place unless you enjoy being overcharged and treated like garbage. read more

The kitchen was overwhelmed, we placed our orders at 6:30 and didn't get our food til after 9! Seating was limited and some roped off seats were available at $75 per hour Food when it arrived was good. Entertainment was well worth the 5$ cover. Waitress was good and as apologetic as good be under the circumstances. Prices were reasonable for a beach side bar. Ambiance is good quite the beach vibe, sand and all. I don't know how to fix it but it needs to be fixed. If you decide to patronize this place I would definitely eat before I went. read more

A beautiful place by the water with an excellent beach vibe . It was raining when we went but it's probably an amazing view with sunny skies . They bathrooms are very clean and convenient . The only think I think it could be improved are the cabanas . You can rent them by the hour . However. There's nothing special about it aside from the fact that it's covered by a rent . They should make it a bit move private and comfy if they made small ones with nice beach furniture instead of uncomfortable metal tables and chairs . I think it would be way better . Would love to go back on a sunny day ! They also have live music :) and plenty of parking . read more

Early in the season, I had a lovely Sunday afternoon here with some friends. We enjoyed the drink menu and the view. Service was friendly. Drinks were on the expensive side, but so in tune to the vibe we overlooked it as entertainment value. So, I brought some friends back for dinner a few Sundays later. That's when they stopped us at the door to collect a $5 per person cover charge and that's where I drew the line. At 6:00, they had a DJ, they explained, and there would be a band at 7:00. The food is already overpriced, but we were willing to accept that for the experience. However, we were not willing to pay a fee for the privilege of eating. It's unfortunate, really. They were onto something, but there is no shortage of places to enjoy a summer evening in Somers Point that won't charge a cover to eat. read more

Unacceptable to have only 3 working bathrooms for hundreds of patrons who had to wait in a long line to use them

From the second you get to this place you see it all lit up and beautiful there's a huge area for a band which is absolutely stunning. There are so many tables and so many different places to set and three or four different bars to choose from. There are different areas of little set up outhouses but they do have a actual stall bathrooms behind one of the bars as well. The service was good and fast we didn't have to wait too long for another drink or our check. You have to go during season and replace will be completely filled up season they don't end up staying open until 2:00 a.m. when the usual time is because if it gets really slowed they close. I do believe this restaurant and bar/club to be seasonal. read more

Such a fun spot on the sand (literally) to listen to live music and have a great cocktail. A ton of drink options and multiple bars throughout, with light dancing in the evenings but still family friendly. Servers were very nice and can provide great recommendations on what to eat - the burger and mahi sandwich were awesome! read more

TLDR: The bouncer is a bald, fat r@cist Unfair, unprofessional, scummy These are just some of the words that come to my mind when reflecting on my experience at The Point. My group, all 24m, decided to go here after a flight and road trip (we were all sober). The bouncer, a bald and stocky fellow let half of our group in and rejected the other half of the group. He didn't give a reason why, and threw them out of the line. Mind you, we are a tame group of guys just looking to get a beer. We have since realized that they were rejected because they have Colorado IDs. Not only was the bouncer hairless and f@t, but he was also r@cist. I pity the life that this guy lives. Since I was able to go inside the bar for a small bit, it was filled with underage girls (figures) and expensive drinks. If you're looking to light your hard earned money on fire and support a moralless business, then The Point is the place for you! I would rate this 0 stars if possible. read more

Came here for a friends celebration party this is the first time we've ever been here and it was a pretty good experience. They have a huge outside area with big cabanas that you can rent for $100 an hour, 3 outside bars, a large covered dancing area with live bands. Obviously being at the shore the entire thing is a huge beach scene. I'm not a big huge fan of all the sand everywhere it gets in your shoes if you're not preparing yourself to go to a place like this and I don't like the beach anyway, so that part was kind of annoying to me. The waitresses were very nice and the restrooms are very clean. We didn't have any issues with seagulls as they have lineup to prevent all that, it was a nice breezy day and you have a nice look over the water with the bridges in and out of Ocean City and a dock if you want to roll up in the boat or jet ski. We all kind of ordered multiple types of food, different appetizers, and entrées so we kind of just picked and shared everything, everything that I ate was actually really good. The mango shrimp and the beef skewers were at the top of my list but everything was really good. Overall, we would return if we were in the are, it's an hour drive for us so probably won't be going out of our way to come here but would stop back if we were down by Ocean City. read more

Not sure why the bad reviews. It is what it is, a tiki themed bar and restaurant on the Bay. Our server was attentive, the island drinks strong and priced about what I'd expect, beer cold, and the food was surprisingly wonderful. Especially the steamed clams. We would go again. read more

"We ran out of sauce for the cheese steak"which delayed the order by 15 minutes. Everything was extra. Drinks were okay. Beer selection seemed slim. Service 2.5 stars. Party of 10 at two tables, lunch on a Saturday at 1:30. We weren't in a hurry. Couldn't check in to the condo until after 2:00. The Point was not super busy, with lots of staff, who appeared to be roaming around with nothing to do. Ambiance 5 stars. And I guess this is what is all about. First let me start by saying this is a really cute place. So much needs to be done for managing this bar to make it what it needs to be. When I read other reviews about the children I was like oh whatever. But it's true mom and dad are drinking leaving the children sprinting around in the sand like tazmanian devils. Seating yourself is annoying. Patrons are stalking tables and awkwardly standing around waiting for the next group to get up and leave. The menu was a let down. We ordered a few things and the portions did not hold up to the price. The menu itself was small. For a bar like ambiance I was hoping for more shareable options. DONT COME HERE HUNRGY. As far as the drinks go they were fairly priced. I'd come back in a little and just wait for them to figure out the kinks. Hopefully, the next season will be off to a better start. read more

Honestly I never write reviews for restaurants but after how I was treated at this place I decided to. I have never been so disrespected at a place that works in the service industry in my life, not to mention I work as a server myself and have never disrespected guests in this way. After working all week and looking forward to my one night off on Memorial Day Weekend I decided to meet friends after work at the point. Shortly after arriving and paying a cover I was kicked out after having 3 drinks. They told me the bartender cut me off without reason and forced me to leave. After asking if I could speak with the manager or the bartender in question they basically told me to screw myself and i was left outside to find myself a ride home alone. I'm a hard working guy and don't get much time off and frankly it's really upsetting that they feel they can treat people like this. Never going back if I can avoid this place. What a venue! The place was packed with well over a hundred people, yet there were still places to park and sit and dance and walk amongst the sand. The establishment is along the bay with beautiful views, great drinks, fast service, and a great feeling all around. Highly recommended for a fantastic night out! read more

It's worse than a dive bar. 1) Why did we just pay $5 to enter? No one in entrance knew. Was told " it's to drink" but we aren't drinking? Now it's for the band? Figure it out. Was told " if you aren't drinking you need to leave by 9"- if we're paying customers why would you say that? 2) Service Got all the orders wrong. Food was lower then five bar experience. 1) they messsed up the orders 2) they served it in take out containers 3)I watched people at the bar serve people that were drunk, they are over serving 3) Bathrooms? No running water & in a trailer. The bar doesn't know what it means to hold a credit card- they rang it immediately. 4) there was a line- and they just kept letting people in to seat them selves for food...a waste of time Find a different place to eat. This place is the prime example of blowing a 3-0 lead in the restaurant business. Imagine having prime real estate, sand, live music, and 3 bars with TVs and yet making a business that people despise. Gross tables are roped off with a $300 dollar reservation fee. I think they were inspired by the Fyre Festival. It's fun for the close to 21 crowd (and probably under 21, knowing this place) to drink late at night. Don't come otherwise. Kind of shocked by the bad reviews. Can only rate on service and drinks but had a fantastic time! Came last Sunday- our server was super sweet and on top of it!! Generous pour for glasses of wine. The decor/vibe is great! They had a DJ when we first got there last Sunday who was awesome. Views of the marina are great! It was pretty chill around 4 on a Sunday but it was early in the season. I strongly advise staying far away from The Point. One of their bouncers put his hands on me and while I am currently speaking with a lawyer, I want to make this clear--no man should be aggressively pushing me as a woman during a conversation--keep in mind I did not yell or lay a finger on him before he chose to keep at me, pushing me to the ground in the process. While I believe that bouncer deserves to be fired, it should also be noted I reached out to management at The Point about the altercation only to be given false promises to follow up with me. We went here today to try some outdoor dining with a view. They began by taking our temperature which was fine and had plenty of hand wash. The vibe is tiki and waterfront so has good bones. The menu ordering process on line is broken and the food is underwhelming. This is definitely an over priced bar option for shore Goers. We each ordered an orange crush. It was definitely made with cheap orange juice and we didn't taste any vodka at all. It was terrible. I failed to mention it was 9.00 for a small plastic cup. The service was attentive but we had no interest in staying. The waitress was unable take food orders. She instructed us to go to a website and the website was buggy and wouldn't load. We took our business right across the street to crabby jacks . We preferred to wait 30 minutes in the sun to have way better stronger drinks and better food selections. This place has a really cool beach vibe. Although it does have food, the menu is very small, and mostly dedicated to alcoholic beverages. On the plus side, they have a connect four game, where you can send your kids and get hammered while they are distracted! The service is very slow, and the day we went so was the kitchen. You could tell that the waiter was petrified and felt bad for not getting our food though. The reserved cabanas had no one in them, which they charge a lot just to sit in. We had a family of 9 and they sat us at a tiny little picnic table with lawn chairs around the sides. Expect sand, and lots of it! When you come in, they give you a wrist band to show if you are underage, so at least you get a free bracelet! Bathrooms aren't the best, and are not cleaned regularly. The food was good though! I really liked my point burger, and the fried chips were really good! If you don't eat a lot, don't order extra chips! If you decide to go here, I hope you have a better time than we did! read more

As a local, I have been to The Point a few times throughout my bar hopping history in the area. The only thing that has ever held this place up was the location. It was the location alone why I returned a few times. Other than that this place is a disaster. Overpriced garbage food, overpriced common drinks. And most of all the staff is unimaginably rude and unprofessional; they really need more training on how to run an establishment. For Example: I was sitting at the bar with some friends when a group of patrons behind us were asked to clean somebody else's vomit. A young man (security guard) with blonde medium-length hair approached the group with arrogance and aggression and told them the manager wanted them to get on the floor and clean. Having experience in the nightlife industry in Atlantic City, people throw up all of the time, and we would NEVER ask paying customers to clean it up. I can tell the young guard was trying to show off to his peers. Seeing this happen left me with utter sadness and second hand embarrassment for the group. I could never imagine being in their situation. I want to see places like this do well; but employees like this will be the ultimate demise of the business. read more
