I loved the fun kitschy idea of this. We got in early so had no trouble getting seats. The server was friendly and helpful. I loved when we took off into space. I had the dessert and it was tasty and so pretty plated. Prices for drinks were high but what the heck. We are on vacation! read more

The service was awesome in both Killowatt and The Space Pad. The drinks are a great price and taste amazing, and the ambiance in there is very fun and uplifting. read more

This is a small galactic space at the back of the Kilowatt brewpub. We opted to sit at the bar. The bar staff (Mario, Tati, and Yasmin) is very friendly and happy to explain the cocktails, menu, really just about anything. A reservation gets you 75 minutes. It's a speakeasy so the cocktails outnumber the food choices. My bourbon old fashioned and whiskey sour were spot on. We ordered chips and salsa to munch on - the salsa had the right amount of kick. Would be five stars (and perhaps 4 is generous?) but for the gnats (or fruit flies?) buzzing around the bar area - which increased as the evening progressed. We left after an hour because they were getting out of hand. read more

Cute little spot located in kilowatt brewing Company. Awesome hourly music and light show. Drinks were amazing. A little pricey, but only because you're in a speakeasy. So I call it a one and done. Maybe two. The waitress/bartender was amazing too. read more

Absolutely love this place. The service was fantastic, the atmosphere was adorable, and we had a wonderful time. Everyone enjoyed their cocktails. I completely understand why they have the 90 minute maximum so that they can get everyone a chance to experience this. I love a good, fun theme bar. Its just my thing. Usually I'm all over tiki, but I liked the idea of mixing tiki ideas with outer space. I was all in for The Space Pad! I actually thought it would be bigger and darker and just different! But it was teeny and mostly bright and I loved it! Only two booths, three two-tops and a bar. They had fun decor, great interesting lights and shiny things. Ever few minutes or so, a little space show would roll across a screen in front of us and those were pretty fun. Bartenders were nice and most of the drinks I had were good. I started with the Saturn, then a Blast Off and ended with the Ambassador Scones. I did not care for the Blast Off, but the Saturn was outstanding and the Ambassador Scones was yummy, but I could have used a little more pop rocks! ha! At $18 a pop, I did feel like they were a bit overpriced for their size, but hey, I was there for the ambiance and how often do you get to drink Rillisporian Cocktails. Fun fact: we walked right past the place on our way to it.... I hadn't really done any research so didn't know where it was. Have fun finding your way - there are hints around. Overall, it's fun, but probably not somewhere I would go back to, I'm happy with what I had. I recommend at least a visit, though if you like fun hidden cocktail bars! Especially if you're right there in the pier area of Oceanside. lol read more

I've been wanting to check this place out for a while and I finally got to last night! Super small space but also has great decor, and they knew how to maximize the space. Server was super friendly and attentive. I ordered the poke tapas and they were delicious! My friend ordered the space pad tacos and she enjoyed her food as well! Our drinks were super tasty and fun (I ordered the jungle bird and my friend ordered blast off). My friends drink had a song that played in the bar when ordered so that was fun! I will definitely come back and highly recommend! Oh and our waitress gave all the girls these really cute necklaces! read more

Why does this place have to pop up once I moved away??? If I still lived in Oceanside this would be one of my regular spots. The room is tiny but they have it done so well. Service was good but the atmosphere is the absolute best part. Every little detail is perfect. The decor and music and entire vibe is just right. The drinks were good and they offered fun non-alcoholic drinks which is always nice. Make a reservation if you want to guarantee a seat! read more

Very interesting decoration, very peculiar. It's a mix of a diner with Jetsons in an alien environment. It has everything to be good, but it's not quite there. The lighting is not well done, there are some interesting neons and light effects, but it is too bright. Music is good, the sound quality is horrendous, but I guess it's the equalization badly done. Bass is overpowering everything. Drinks were okay. Pricey considering the context. The service was definitely not good. The bartender just wouldn't come to us, even not being too busy. He was also poorly dressed and was not welcoming. The place is under construction, apparently, so I'll give it a try when it's done. Maybe. It has potential. read more

I have been meaning to write this review for a while - finally getting around to it. I was so surprised to see there was no Yelp page for the space pad. I promptly created one and then added some photos. Just now getting around to a review. The process of booking a table was really easy and honestly we hardly needed to. We went in on a Friday night within their first month of opening and it was pretty easy to find space. We would not have needed a reservation but it was good to have one I guess. Going forward, I'm sure it will pick up in busyness but while we were there, every table and every bar seat did get filled. Let me say that the drinks we had were excellent. We ordered three drinks total. We got the blast off, a classic painkiller, and tropical bird drink. All three were excellent and you could tell that they were very quality ingredients. The prices are steep. I do believe that $18 for a cocktail is highway robbery in this day and age. That's the price I want to pay at a theme park but not at a small speakeasy in quiet Oceanside. You know it's odd when Trader Sam's drinks at Disneyland are cheaper...I do wish the prices were a little more reasonable but I respect what they're trying to do. That being said, we loved the decor and the theme. It was a bit disjointed being both Jetsons themed and alien planet themed. My husband is a designer and we love speakeasies but it was a little odd to walk into like a planet situation with aliens and see Jetsons videos. It's like they are trying to be either mid-mod or an alien planet, but couldn't decide so they just did both. The service was also excellent - they have a fun light show that plays every so often when you order certain drinks. We sat near the wall with the AC thing and water dropped on us multiple times which was very strange. The flooring in that area is warped and kind of dangerous. And then there's also an exit door there that like opens but shouldn't open so that's kind of strange. I know they're trying to get their kinks worked out and I think that they will do really well in the long run, but I would highly advise a quick check on pricing because $18 for your drinks is crazy high and kind of a deterrent. Frankie's down the road makes an amazing cocktail for $14. Just something to think about with the clientele. All in all, wonderful experience but certainly felt like a soft open. Also please print themed menus! It's like they put all this work in and then printed menus on a piece of dirty printer paper. It could be so amazing to have passport themed menus or something really unique. Such potential! Looking forward to our next visit. read more

Service was amazing, drinks on par. Got free shots from the bartender. The workers were very attentive and asked us if we were doing good or would like more drinks or anything. The music, decorations, even the drinks flowed together with the theme... Space. Would definitely visit again. read more

I am not a big bar hopper fan but I love this place. The space pad was smaller than I anticipated. It was such a cool little joint. Make sure to have a reservation. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and super friendly and engaging! The atmosphere is lively, they have fun light displays that go with certain songs and it makes for a unique dazzling experience. Drinks came in with cool Tiki-style glasses. The whole experience feels very intimate. For those Space and Galaxy fanatics, you will enjoy the atmosphere. I'm not a space fanatic but I got very excited when the light show started with the funky music. Everyone else was happy. Munchie's menu is mostly fish except for the hot dog, the food is not as expensive as the other reviewers stated. Hopefully, they can add more items to the food menu. The drinks were a little pricey but if you are here for the experience, then it is the premium you are willing to pay for it. Right? Wink wink FYI, The "Beam me Up" drink was a lot of fun! We didn't order it but the next table ordered it. Five stars for service, atmosphere, and drink. read more

Fun, space vibe speak easy. It's smaller inside than I expected, so highly recommend having a reservation if your party is larger than 2. There are 2 booths, a bar with maybe 6 chairs and a sprinkle of belly table and chairs That being said, it was a super fun, chill place. We had a group and reservation. We only went for drinks and tried so many fun ones. Great place to take pictures and just enjoy the atmosphere with friends. read more

A smaller space themed speakeasy right behind Kilowatt and had all the vibes of spacey pop culture that would display at random. We had a reservation for a party of 6 on a Sunday night and the place was pretty consistent with patrons coming and going during the time we were there. Menu options were extensive for cocktails and beer, wished we could have tried the food, but unfortunately they didn't have kitchen staff that night. Not an issue as many of us had eaten dinner before we arrived. Our Bartender was phenomenal, super patient, kept things flowing well and all the drinks were fantastic. read more

I must say we were quite worried about some of the negative reviews. Paying almost $20 per drink for mostly just ice didn't sound like the space experience we were looking for, but I have to enthusiastically say that either those reviews simply weren't true OR maybe we just got lucky to get the best bartender on staff (Tessa). We had reservations through TableAgent.com for 6pm on a Thursday, during which Sunset Market was happening on the streets around Kilowatt. It's a great day to come because we could eat food from around the world, then pop into The Space Pad for some cocktails. Though we had reservations, the two large booths were already occupied. Tessa asked if we cared to sit at the bar and there were five stools open so that was fine for us. In fact, sitting at the bar allowed us to chat with the bartender and she was fantastic! We were saddened to hear that she's leaving in like two weeks. We finally find one of the best bartenders in Oceanside (trust me, we've been almost everywhere here), and now she's leaving. Ugh. Our drinks were amazing. My Zombie was one of the strongest drinks I've had, soooo good! And it was not filled with just ice. It actually took me a while to drink that sucker down, and I'm a pro. It also came in a cool Tiki style glass. Some drinks came as a martini in a large coup style glass. These aren't the small dainty coup glasses you'd see in fancier places...these were large. And some came in a tall hurricane. Different glassware for different cocktails, the way it should be. The interior of this place is a trip. It's super cool...and I'm so glad they decided to do something with this space. The lights are dazzling, and there is periodically a little "show" that happens. Can't really describe it, you just need to see it for yourself. The drinks are not $20. They range from like $16 to $18 and they are ABSOLUTELY worth it. (Beers are $10) Dear Owner: please find a way to keep Tessa on staff. Take a second mortgage, we don't care. Just do it. Thx, k bye. read more

Made a resy for our group of 4 for a Saturday night. The space is intimate with a couple of tables & bar seating. Super awesome space theme all around. Love the decor, the music, & they do a mini light show every so often. Cocktails were delicious! Customer service was not welcoming. There were 3 workers & none of them interacted with us. We had to flag someone down for drinks for the 1st round & the 2nd round. Then when our 90 minutes were up, they kept on checking up on us to make sure that we knew that we had to go. We came here for some drinks on Saturday at 5pm. We made reservations for the standing area but there were seats available. The decor and the ambiance was super fun and unique. They did have food options but it didn't feel like a proper place to eat. The drinks are pretty pricey too but that's a given when you go to a speakeasy. I got the reverse Paloma and it was super strong, I was tipsy off of that one drink(not complaining) and my friend got the blast off. His drink came served in a rocket ship with smoke and glow up ice, definitely a must try. I tried it and it was good but super sweet. It's definitely a place to go just to have fun but not to have a conversation because they have occasional light shows that are kind of loud. Overall we enjoyed our experience in space! read more

The Space Pad is so cool, I want whoever created this space to decorate a room in our house! Interesting cocktails - all space themed- and some with special effects (try the blast off!). Every now and then the music cuts out and you are presented a light show of sorts. They also have poke dishes and you can order bites from the brewery next door. Taking away one star because it does seem to be a bit over priced, which is the only thing stopping this from becoming a normal hang spot for us vs. just taking visitors/newbies there for the novelty. If they lowered the prices we would show up more and drink more than one cocktail. And since we love poke we might consider it a dinner option if it was more affordable. Either way we will be back to show the next friends or family that visit town because it is super cool. read more

So the ambiance here is amazing, such a cool vibe, spacey and techno. The issue is that they could not serve half their menu because they were out of ahi tuna. My guest I came with only eats fish or chicken. The other half of the menu was spam, one beef hot dog, a squid salad and a few desserts. I was excited to come here for a while and the fact that one ingredient was out at 7pm that renders half their menu unavailable was so disappointing. I was half hoping that they might have mocktails, so it can cater to people who either the DD or might just want to take a break but be included. I had to leave after taking with my friend, because I will not stay somewhere where we both could not enjoy. I think this would be great just for drinks at 10pm. Don't come hungry, and only come if you want a drink. Not the vibe if you want to bring friends from out of town. This is more for a novelty, not worth it. read more

My favorite bar in Oceanside. Where else are you going to get that crazy, all-in ambiance around here? Ima keep it real with an honest review - the Space Pad is lame but the service was awesome. Cocktails are very over priced and it ain't that great. Ordered a cocktail that was $18 and it sucked. The whole cup was full of ice. There was more ice than liqour. It's a speakeasy and the room is very small. They blast the music way too loud that you can full on hear the conversation of the party next to you since they will need to yell to their friends/party. It didn't give me a outer space vibe as they advertised. It felt more like a glow in the dark mini-putt vibes. Nothing out of this world. Not being a hater, just being real and leaving my honest opinion. Save your money and drink at the Kilowatt. read more

The Spaces Pad inside Kilowatt Brewing is a cute space and alien themed speakeasy. I loved their fun decor, funny music (the Jetsons!), drinks and food!! Their drinks have fun space themed names and even funnier descriptions. My favorite menu cocktail is the Old Fashioned. It comes smoking with a tiny spaceship on top, it's so cute and really well balanced, and not too harsh despite being a direct drink. I also ordered a dealers choice cocktail where the bartender comes over to read your aura, get your zodiac sign, and a few other details to create a special drink just for you! For food, my favorites were the poke and hot dog. The poke is locally sourced from Oceanside and was so fresh and delicious, I couldn't stop eating it!! The hot dog has pineapple on it and was so flavorful too!! This little laid-back speakeasy is so fun, I recommend it!! Reservations required. read more

The Space Pad is a cool place to visit. We got there early for our reso and had a beer at the bar. The bartender was so helpful and kind. We didn't know we couldn't bring out drinks into the speakeasy which was a waste and bummer. They recommend a reso during the weekend since it gets busy & it's a small spot. They really spent ALOT of time decorating this place in a creative way. Bring a sweater since it's colder in there. The drinks are very unique. I only had two but they did not seem that strong to me. I think I would try to get a basic drink next time-if possible. The hot dogs were good and had different toppings. The waiters in there were also amazing and kept checking in even though they were getting busier. It does seem a bit pricey, it seems like you are paying for the ambience mostly. read more

Stopped in at this funky little outer space speakeasy on my way home from San Diego on a Wednesday night. My friend and I split the Space Pad Tacos and the Poke Tower. Both dishes were tasty!! I am not a huge spam person, but there was a balance in the saltiness and the pickled onions that made them perfect. The ahi was very fresh, you could taste the quality in every bite. I tried the Saturn - it was very refreshing. Not overly sweet; which can be a common problem with mixed drinks. Since we came in pretty early on a Wednesday night, it wasn't very busy inside. We didn't have any noise issues or spacing issues. However, given most speakeasy as pretty tiny, don't be that group of 10 the rolls in with no reservation and takes over the place! I doubt they would've been able to accommodate us otherwise, since it's quite small (it's a speakeasy after all). Our server was very nice and attentive. She made some recommendations and we decided on a round of the Beam Me Up, which everyone enjoyed. Similar to a piña colada on top of a boozy green Jell-O shot with a gummy animal floating in it (it's getting beamed up.) After much debate, my coworkers and I couldn't figure out what animal the gummy was. It was between a dog and a llama? If you get it and figure it out let me know. The drink flavor was on point and actually quite filling, more like a dessert. Overall fun experience and will likely go back. read more
