I go to the Daisy bar all the time, I go to La Isla Cevicheria all the time at Vail headquarters. Yesterday I ordered barbecue from Tye Smoked Hog for my husband's birthday we got the ribs, brisket and the pulled chicken with the white barbecue sauce. The meat literally fell off the bones and melted in my mouth! Absolutely fantastic food and service Chris and his partner are awesome business owners please support them! Ugh!! NO! The food is alright but my reason for the 1 star review is the man who works the counter. He is unbelievable!! I've worked in the food industry for almost 15 years from casual dining to formal dining at 5 star resorts. I have dealt with all kinds of coworkers. But never have I seen someone act like this, and in front of customers. He blatantly "advises" you to leave a tip and when you don't, he makes a nasty comment as you walk away. Every time, every customer. Last time, he didn't know the woman in front of me ordering was my friend and he made a rude remark when she didn't tip for taking her order. And just today, remembering who he was and how he acted from before, I didn't tip him on my young kid's $4 order. As I walk away, I hear him - clearly, not under his breath - call me a JACKASS. In front of other customers to hear as well!! I'M DONE WITH THIS PLACE. How do people not have basic work ethic or at the very least, hire people who don't have the capacity to work in customer service, is something I cannot comprehend. Take an order. Take the payment. Give them their buzzer. That's it for this establishment. And don't get me wrong...I put a tip on my purchases 99% of the time. Even if just a dollar. Because I get it. I've worked it. My family and I just tried Smok'd Hog and it's awesome! We had sliced brisket that was juicy, tender and well smoked. The Mac and cheese had great flavor with a mix of cheeses. Very tender cuts of brisket! I preferred the fatty cuts anyways so it was perfect and juicy. Brisket alone is worth the visit and makes up for anything else that was lagging. BBQ sauce also perfectly complements the brisket, and is uniquely sweet and sour, but a bit watery for my taste. Also ordered the macncheese and tater salad, each were excellent. Bacon cuts in the tater salad was a nice touch. I wasn't too impressed with the baked beans because the shells were still hard and they have a sour flavor that I don't prefer. I'd skip beans if I visit again. The cubano sandwich was very delicious, but I felt that the pork shoulder was seasoned with too much salt and was cooked for too long and ended up being tough to chew. I'd have also appreciated cuts against the grain for this item. If it wasn't for the awesome flavor and the on-point toasted bread with cheese pickle and sauce I wouldn't have rated the cubano too high. read more

Just get the brisket. It tastes like how it's supposed to taste with the right amount of bark and fat in it. Everything else to me was mediocre or just okay. YMMV. Ribs were runner up as they were tender and juicy but completely one note and bland. Granted my point of references are rather high as I'm from Texas and gone to some damn good places (Kreuz, Lockhart, and Pecan, etc.) where the variety of even beef is more than what's offered here e.g. shoulder clod, burnt ends, and various other specials (like beef rib) they have on certain days. read more

Did a brisket sandwich today. The meat was super tender and looked amazing. Sadly, it was more like a salt sandwich. WAAAAAAAAAAY too much salt on it killed the entire thing. Even the store bought bbq sauce wasnt enough to mask the salt taste (wtf is what that anyway? make your own bbq sauce for crying out loud!). Sad cause this place is in a neat food court type of building at Vail Ranch in Temecula and has great atmosphere. I saw other reviews about their over use of spices, but I thought it had to be the reviewer and not the food itself. Was in Temecula for New Years weekend and stopped by here for some dinner on our last night. I called ahead to make sure they have brisket and the guy on the phone was super nice and said he'd hole their last 1.5 lb for us. When I got there, he was super nice (and very cute, I'll take your meat anytime bro). He explained the differences in their sauces and such while my sides were being finished. Was a little disappointed with the food here. Ordered the two meat plate with two sides: pulled chicken, pulled pork, baked beans and coleslaw. The pulled pork was best out of everything it had some flavor but it was soaking in liquid. Same with the chicken, the chicken was very wet and had no seasoning. The baked beans were okay but left a weird aftertaste as if there was a ton of liquid smoke added. The coleslaw was plain and had no seasoning. Overall the food was very bland and since everything was so soggy the trays the food was served in were also getting soaked and almost falling apart. Unfortunately, probably won't be back. read more

Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuum. We had the brisket, Texas Chili and pulled pork. Sides were Mac and cheese (too garlicky and not enough cheese, this is what knocked 5 stars down to 4), greens and pimento cheese. The chili came with a piece of their amazing cornbread (so good, my husband went back and ordered more for us to take home). The brisket had a beautiful bark on it and was perfectly juicy with just enough fat. The chili was outstanding and the pulled pork was really good even my husband liked it and he never likes pulled pork. The greens were fine if a bit salty for me and could have used a splash of pepper vinegar, pimento cheese was perfect. It was nice sitting outside, drinking a beer and eating. First bite and there was something off, something too artificial about the taste. It may have been the liquid smoke used or the binding agent in their sauce. This may be the best bbq i've had in CA. Everything is made from scratch and it shows from the sides to the sauces. Speaking of which you have to try the gold carolina sauce. When it comes to meat, the sausage has a really good kick to it so be prepared (i love it personally). That said it goes great with eggs the next morning if you have leftovers. The pulled pork was also very good but to me, the brisket was what will ensure i come back often. It was done perfectly and i could have eaten it until i burst.
