If you're visiting Boulder, you must eat at the Sink. We dine here with our children and find the menu has something for everyone! I do love their burgers and appreciate that they offer a turkey burger when I'm craving an alternative to beef. They have a great bar selection and offer plenty of local brews. The inside is unique, be sure to bring a sharpie and leave your mark! read more

Great food and people. Nothing typical about the food or atmosphere. Food was great. Don't miss stopping here when your in Boulder.

I was very hesitant, I admit even judged the Sink upon arriving to Boulder. I had heard about it and I immediately put it on my not-to-go list, because let's face it- I already did the college thing, the last thing I need is to knowingly go to a place filled with potentially young drunken college students, and lots of them. I will also admit, that the reason I decided to go was because I saw the highlight on "Diner, Drive-Ins and Dives." You can also find the link on Youtube if you're interested. It was then I realized that although the Sink is a college bar, the food served is mostly all home-made, good quality, local, and humane (grass-fed beef). I decided to go myself and be the judge. I went for lunch so the number of college students (not that there is anything wrong with you guys) was low. Below are my reasons why I'm sold on this place: 1. The place has been open since 1923! You can't beat a place with history, and has maintained a successful past. 2. The food was delicious! I built my own burger with the black bean patty, the chipotle mayo is sooo good and you can see how they make it on DDD. 3. The pizza was fresh and awesome! I tried the Buddha Basil Pizza, which has a pesto-marinara sauce and the crust is the best part. We also had a Smores pizza for desert. They put chocolate and marshmallows baked on a cinnamon-sugar crust, it's a special but hopefully it's there when you go. 4. The staff was friendly and attentive. I could tell that our waitress had a lot of tables but she was very sweet, good with our order, and all the food runners were great as well. 5. Lastly, the artwork on the walls and ceiling. The artwork is from the 60's which they are trying to preserve. It gives the place personality which is a plus for me! To me, this is a restaurant bar with personality, and quality food which is important in my book. I probably won't frequent on Friday night at 9pm to hang with the CU kids, but next I have a craving for bar food I will think of the Sink. read more

This restaurant is a Boulder community staple. The food is great, and the service is amazing as well. As a student in Boulder, I think that this restaurant has proven itself time and time again as one of the best in the area. I recommend the Cowboy Reuben, or any of the sandwiches they serve, but anything you order is worth while. The wings are also great. Highly recommend to anyone in the area looking to eat. read more

I went here on a Saturday afternoon, which would normally be busy, and might explain something. But it was a weird in-between-lunch-and-dinner time, so there really were not that many people at the restaurant. We asked to sit on the patio because we had a dog with us, so they seated us and gave us menus/silverware/plates. We tied the dog's leash to the gate and made her sit on the other side. Pretty soon, a couple girls were seated at the table next to us. The waitress who seated us took their order and left. By now the dog climbed through the gate and fell asleep under our table. Another nearby table filled up with people, and a waitress came and took their order. Then a new guy joined the table next to us, and they took his order. All the food came to the table next to us, who got there after we did. Still no server at our table. We gave them hopeful looks as they walked by, but no one would look at us. We started to wonder if they had misunderstood us and thought we just wanted to sit on the patio and not eat. But we had menus, and silverware, and we were clearly looking at the menus. The girl who gave us the menus was serving the table RIGHT next to us. We told the girl who was sweeping the patio that we still hadn't been helped yet, and she was nice about it. She brought us water and told us she let our server know we were there. So someone knew we were there, and that we were waiting. Our parking permit was expiring soon, so we told each other that by now we'd have to get our food to go. With that in mind, we waited for our server. Fifteen minutes later, a guy from the restaurant came over and told us, "You have to move your dog to the other side of the fence." We said, "Oh, okay," and he turned around and left. We ushered the dog back to the other side of the fence. Another ten minutes or so, and we'd been there about 45 minutes. Everyone around us was eating, and all we got was some guy scolding us about the dog, and a couple glasses of water from the girl sweeping the patio. We were never rude or demanding... the dog was totally well-behaved... we moved the dog when they told us to... but they ignored us the whole time -- even after we asked if someone could help us. We got up and left without a server talking to us once. The one star goes to the girl who sweeps the patio -- at least someone there had an idea of customer service. read more

I am not a Colorado native but I was passing through with a friend from the area. Judging by other reviews the place is a good college spot for the usual drinkage debauchery. As a restaurant though, the pizza is excellent. Dare I say the best on the west of the Mississippi. The chill atmosphere and claustrophobic layout increases its charm. If you're traveling through Boulder to hippy-out or try out your new $10,000 skis because the magazine said so, stop by The Sink. read more

the Sink is top place to eat on my list when i travel to Boulder, Co. This place has a rack of good beer selection and a whopping burger. They have this burger that is made with completely organic beef, sooo good. Possibly the best burger i have ever had. This is absolutely a must visit when traveling anywhere near Boulder, make the detour if you have too. read more

I had the build your own Sink burger, and included guacamole and a fried egg with their grass-fed beef. At first bite I really enjoyed it but I started to notice a few things. The house pickles and red onions were really pungent and you could really taste it over the other ingredients. I could barely even taste the guac/egg over the bite of the onion. The grass fed beef was cooked medium rare and done well so no complaints there. The breading on the burger is hard to describe. Dry? Stiff? Not sure. Something about the texture was off and that with the flavor of the veggies made the whole burger experience not as good as I think it could've been. read more

I love the Sink, and I know there is a wing shortage, but I felt their wings were overpriced at $19.95 for 12, skimpy on meat and sauce, and overcooked unfortunately. Server was quite pleasant and working hard and ambiance was unique as always, but the wings were a disappointment. Have not found any in Boulder to match CD's in Arvada. read more

A MUST if you are in boulder. The space alone is so cool with paintings on the wall. The history is awesome too! Happy hour deals rocked and we were able to eat and grab a drink for under $30. Wings, jalapeños and fries rocked! The only complaint would be the service. Our food came out a bit later than we would have expected especially since they weren't really that busy. The waitress was very friendly though. read more

We stopped by The Sink last night before seeing RNDM up the street at the Fox Theatre. I hadn't been in there forever and it was great to see what they've done with the place - nothing! It's still mostly the same cool dive it always was, although the food and drink options have gotten much better over the last couple decades. We oredered a couple of pints of Hazed & Infused, a great start to any occasion. The Sweet and Hot Firecrackers(?) were the app of choice, eggrolls filled with chicken and spinach with a dipping sauce that tied it all together very nicely. The burgers however were the main attraction. I built one with bacon, American cheese, and onion straws. The burger was cooked perfectly and was all held within a nice sesame seed bun. She had the Spicy Goat and it had bacon, a giant mound of goat cheese, and a spicy sauce. Both the regular and sweet potato fries were just OK, not really worthy of the burgers they were paired up with. The service was great, and even though it was a slow Sunday night it was still a fun place to hang before the show started. Plus, it's Happy Hour all day on Sundays! read more

Those sweet potato fries oh my goodness, get me another order of those! I've tried a lot of dishes on their menu and they have all been wonderful. Pizza, burgers, sandwiches, salad.. I couldn't even tell you my favorite because they're all so good! And the atmosphere.. so fun! You always find something new to look at on those walls and ceilings! Make sure to write your name somewhere and then come back later and try to find it! And for those of you who haven't turned 21 yet: if you go in at midnight on your 21st, they give you a free shot (its absolutely disgusting), but you have to do it! It's tradition. My shot was a horrid mix of Everclear, hot sauce, vinegar, and god knows what else. But the look on my face was priceless and it was a great start to a great night. The Sink is great for one-on-ones, big parties, dates, family get-togethers, and any other gathering you can think of. I can see, though, how it might not be so fun for the older crowd as the day turns to night... But other than that, I definitely think everyone should give The Sink a try! read more

A Boulder institution! The graffitied walls, low ceiling and divey atmosphere make The Sink part of Boulder/CU lore! It's delicious assortment of local craft beers and tasty bar food help The Sink live up to this hype. It's directly across the street from a major university, so if you're going to complain about it being a "college bar," I have no sympathy. I've ordered the chicken nachos and pizza and both were delicious. The nachos are served on a huge wooden pizza spatula because the cheese is baked over the chips and ingredients! The pizza is very fresh - I opted for the honey wheat crust in the build your own solo pie option and, while I admit I was skeptical about it being too sweet, it was a great choice. Don't forget to check-in for a $3 draft! read more

I've wanted to go here for quite some time, cool wall art, good food, horrible waitress. Wow, maybe the worst waitress I have ever had. Drinks sat at the bar for eighteen minuets. Hello, I'm thirsty here. Went and got the drinks myself, the manager lost his mind. What I did wasn't right, but come on. Got our food, was never checked on again, come on, I need a fork, please. Told the "Manager" to quit hiring his dumb ass girlfriends on my way out the door. Check this place off my list, I'll get a gyro across the street next time. read more

On Thursday, April 8, 2022, at 9:30pm, I ordered a cheeseburger with coleslaw and a glass of water. I was sick for 4 days with intestinal pain and diarrhea. It took 4 days to get a refund after I filed a complaint with the Boulder County Health Department. I don't know if it was the cheeseburger or the coleslaw or the dirty water glass that made me sick or all 3. I will never eat there again. read more

Everyone says this is THE place to go if you are in Boulder and I may just have to agree. From President Obama to Guy Fieri, you're in good company here. The pizzas kept coming out and looked spectacular but we compromised, ordering breadsticks (which came in a pizza shape) and I got the BBQ burger with onion rings on it. This was without a doubt the best burger I've had in a long time. Top that off with a bloody mary bar and you have yourself a new fan! read more

I just really dig the vibe of this place! Really low ceiling that you can tag with your name and funky 'famous' art work on the walls. Its a dive that's a wacky spot with good food, beer, and people. I live in Denver so I'm not a regular by any means but I will try and get over here whenever I hike or run in the area. Super friendly staff, good chicken wings, and sandwiches. Pizza Next! I assume the place gets popping at night too! read more

As previous yelpers have stated, come to this place more for the place rather than the food. We were in a hurry and hungry (why is this never a good combo?) and rushed in here to grab something to take out. We decided on a chicken sandwich with bree. It came fast and the service was super friendly. I took a brief look around the place and it does scream college kids and late night beer place and it would be nice to come here again at night. The sandwich was OK, nothing too special. You know the feeling when something is missing from a meal but you can't place what? Well this guy was missing something. Oh we also got some sweet potato fries which were had a great salty goodness to them. The interior is well cool, and would like to come here again for a pint rather than a speedy meal. read more

The Sink is a little slice of Boulder love, and dates way back. The reason why I can see fairly easily: it has a certain low-ceiling charm to it. The writing and painting on the walls takes you back a generation or two, and the beer selection and food is solid. I've never felt claustrophobic in here (even though I could see this happening to other people), and I always seem to have some interesting company in the place. The first time I came here was with my South African friend, twice my age, who lived through apartheid and after it. We chatted about politics, computer science, and our mutual love for philosophy over a vegetarian calzone. Another time, my professor decided to take a few of us in the class out for a drink (sweet huh), a few rounds and a bit of food later we were talking about politics and our love of philosophy...(hm reoccurring theme?). A third time, was with a few friends were we talked about the Hispanic family, and our love of philosophy, over a vegetarian pizza. Not sure why The Sink has been so congenial for philo-sophia, but that's how it has played out for me. read more

This is a true Boulder must see. The ceilings are low and the art work is eclectic and fun. Its in a great area up on the hill near the CU campus. The building has been serving food since the 30's. Its basically a beer and sandwich joint with exceptional build your own burgers. The food quality is good, portions are reasonable and the price is decent. Everyone should eat here at least once, tourist or resident. The happy hour prices are very reasonable so visit early and have a couple. read more

The sink is my favorite burger joint in Boulder. Not only is their food delicious, but their environment is extremely lively and upbeat. The bottom floor is decorated with a hefty amount of street art which is super engaging while you wait for your food. I highly suggest getting the breakfast burger and a caesar salad! read more

Great service, good "bar food" and cool, eclectic atmosphere. grungy hippy vibe, laid back, relaxing and nice patio area

Dear lord I grew!! Oh wait I can touch the ceiling.. I'd describe The Sink as a basement bar. Lit mainly by light fixtures, no exposure to the outside world via windows. Friendly laid back people fill the spots for waitress, waiter, and bartender. Beers were tasty, the garbage pizza was good to the tummy, and the gold speckled shots of cinnamon made a great dessert. read more

Cowboy Reuben. 'Nuff said. This place is a staple up here; when guests come to town it's always on my list for not only the food but also all of the priceless art on the walls. I went here July of last year and service was great, as was the food. Remembering that, I decided to stop and eat here with a friend today. We asked if we could still eat at the restaurant if we sat on the patio since we had my golden retriever with us and we were told yes,, only when we asked, the hostess/waitress seemed very distracted by just saying, "Yeah..." and then vacantly looking off into space for an uncomfortable amount of time before finally grabbing some menus, silverware, and plates, and taking us to a table. I tied my dog's leash to the patio and my friend and I sat by and waited for a waiter to appear to take our order for drinks. 15 minutes in and my dog has since fallen asleep halfway in and out of the patio and two separate couples were seated nearby us and given drinks. Another 10 minutes and the couples received appetizers while my friend and I continued to sip at our water bottles that we'd brought along for our hike. Another 10 minutes and one of the gals sweeping the patio comes over to see our dog and notices that we haven't been served any drinks, so we ask for some water and she obliges, bringing us two glasses of water that were cold, albeit rather salty tasting like bad tap water. She told us our waiter would be out shortly. Fifteen minutes later, a young man came out and said, "You need to get your dog off the patio", so I nudged my sleeping dog awake and made her shimmy back to the outside. The man said nothing else, not even "Could you please," or "would you please" or "Thank you", but turned right back around and went inside. Ten minutes later, we got up and left. It goes without saying that I was not only disappointed given the positive experience I'd previously had here, but also rather upset at how we were basically ignored by the waitresses who served the people sitting at other tables and not us even though we'd been given menus. We were bypassed and then treated in a rather hostile manner and completely forgotten even though we were sitting in plain view of the front desk. Maybe it was a new staff from the people who worked there last year, but I don't think that kind of attitude is acceptable anywhere, especially since we didn't make a big deal out of anything. read more

As an out of towner I didn't enjoy my experience here. Service was pretty awful. The server asked if we wanted any drinks besides water. When I ordered my cocktail, she didn't actually bring me any water. I had to ask three separate times before I got some. I got the sink burger and it was flavorless. Not to mention the three different hairs I found in it. gross. The cucumber-lime-vodka cocktail kind of tasted like rubbing alcohol. sure it probably meant it was a pretty strong drink, but i dont think it was mixed very well. Overall I was disappointed by this place, considering how everyone calls it a "Boulder institution". Can't think of a single redeeming quality during my experience. read more

The build your own Mac and cheese was amazing. The Bavarian pretzel was the best I've ever had. Super soft and flaky! We were here for lunch on a Sunday during winter break so it was not busy. The server initially forgot the pretzel so it was delivered late in to the meal. He was very apologetic and they took it off the bill without our asking or even complaining. It was worth the wait! We did not have anything from the bar, so I cannot comment. My son said the wings were very yummy. If you are in Boulder, I'd absolutely stop by. read more

Skied down on snowy night, manager was rude, wouldn't let us store skis in empty lobby. I loved this place. It reminded me of something I would find back home in New Orleans. Low ceilings that you can tag and artwork drawn on the walls gave this place a unique vibe. After the boyfriend showed me around the CU campus, we came here for a little lunch. The place felt a bit claustrophobic, with low ceilings, no windows and very colorful art everywhere, but you get used to it quickly. It was definitely fun to look at all the caricatures of the local personalities on the walls. We split the Sink Burger with sweet potato fries and the turkey panini with a side salad. I thought the turkey sandwich was over-salted, but the burger totally won me over. The burger was simple, no caramelized this and relish that, but the meat was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. I've sampled the burgers at some top notch restaurants and this can go toe-to-toe with any of them. I also loved the sweet dill pickle slices. This is a must visit and I'm super glad that my boyfriend took me here. Can't wait to order that burger again!! read more

The Sink rules! The beet salad was awesome, and the beer menu was great. Sierra was an awesome server. I can't wait to come back here!

Yeah, I'm giving this Boulder institution two stars. While I enjoyed all the wall murals and ceiling scribbles, the food was pretty mediocre. My table shared a plate of fairly unremarkable nachos. It's been a while since my college days, but I don't think my standards for nacho plates have changed *that* much. The other big annoyance for me are the ceilings. The main dining area's ceilings are just a little over 6' tall (and I'm a lot over 6' tall), meaning I had to duck in to and out of the restaurant. While I know there's not a lot you can do to control for this, it's the sort of thing that would make me consider eating some place else if I'm back around The Hill anytime soon. read more

Lunch for three during the great rain of 2013. Lots of history and fame for this place. (Redford, Obama, DDD). Not recommended if you are over 6 foot 8 (low ceilings) or you like to duck. Fun decor - local artwork, comics and graffiti festoons every inch. (what is tw2?) Had Texas Onion burger with grass feed beef - best burger in a long time. A huge burger with all the fixings and a great sauce. Sweet potato fries and coleslaw sides were fair. Basil budha pizza was delicious, light crust, plenty of toppings. Small size makes for a full meal for one. Wait staff was attentive, but couldn't exactly remember what we ordered. read more
