The unfinished task still remained after 4-5 years--searching for a comfortable pair of black flats! I spent every year walking around all the shoe stores at Chandler Fashion Mall including Nordstrom's, and DSW. I even ordered about 10-12 pairs of shoes from Zappo's and Naturalizer to try at home without success. Started buying Fitflops at Nordstrom's to wear year around. People commented how cold my feet must have been. This winter I had finally given up this year ever finding another pair of "shoes!" A friend said, "Why don't you go to 'The Shoe Mill' and look for a good pair of shoes?!?" Although I've never been there before, I knew it was downtown Tempe on the NW corner of Fourth and Mill. Wow! What an amazing store! There were Naot shoes from Israel, Mephisto, Ecco, Alegria, Five Fingers, Sanita, Fly London, etc. This store is full of international, excellent quality shoes, gorgeous sandals for summers, clogs, hand-painted Anuschka purses and wallets! Alison was fantastic in helping me find just the perfect "comfortable" shoes!!! She was total customer satisfaction in action. I could not have found the black pair of Naot shoes without Alison's help! I love both pair and look forward to wearing them! read more

The shoes have arch support and are good for the health of your foot and back. Yes, they can be pricey shoes, but they do have coupons and clearance which helps. Plus the shoes last a long time. I have been to the shoe mill twice, and both times walked out not only with great shoes, but with exceptional customer service. I had surgery on my foot in October and had to completely revamp my shoe collection, as the flats/sandals with no support weren't an option for me anymore. I searched high and low at Dillard's, Nordstrom, Macy's, (and every other department store) to find shoes that I could wear and also that weren't hideous. I had very little luck and was feeling pretty defeated until I stumbled upon the Shoe Mill. I probably spent over an hour the first time I went, trying on various shoes to determine what would best suit my needs (and in styles I liked). The sales woman was incredibly patient, and had no problem continuing to bring me shoes until I found some I liked. I went back last week to search for a pair of flip flops/sandals that could support my feet through the summer and I was met again with the same wonderful customer service (from two different sales women). They never pressure you to buy anything, and they seem just as committed to you finding shoes that fit and that you like as you are. I am going back next week to get a pair of shoes that is coming in with their latest shipment and will definitely be back anytime I need good shoes. Note to prospective shoe buyers: Yes, the shoes are expensive, but when you're buying shoes that are well made and are meant to last, you can't expect to spend $20/pair. The Shoe Mill also has frequent shoe styles on sale, and the prices you pay are on par (if not cheaper) than other retailers for the brands you're getting. read more

The salespeople here are so patient. Finding shoes that fit me is a looong project and the salespeople here never complain when I am there for an hour or more, trying things on, walking around, asking for different sizes, etc. They are helpful and knowledgable. and leave me alone when I need to think about what I want. I have easily returned shoes that don't turn out to fit. Yes, their shoes are expensive, but the service is excellent and the shoes last forever. read more

I purchased a pair of Naot Paris sandals ($160 with tax) at The Shoe Mill. I considered buying on-line, but decided to shop locally instead. I ended up paying more, but assumed that I was paying for the superior service. I wore my new shoes to work on Friday. By the end of the day, I had developed blisters on both feet near my toes and my ankles. I was surprised because I had read many reviews stating how comfortable Naot sandals are and the salesman who helped me confirmed that I was buying the correct size. Sadly, I took them back to the store the next day. To my surprise, I was told that The Shoe Mill does not take returns. I have never tried to return shoes, so it didn't occur to me to ask this question when I made the purchase. However, as I stated, I expected full service from a high end shoe store. I will no longer shop at The Shoe Mill. It's been three days and my feet are still recovering. It's a constant reminder of how dissatisfied I was with my purchase. I usually love my experience at the Shoe Mill. However, after today I am going to be a returning customer of "Shoe Thrill" in Chandler. I found two pairs of shoes with a total cost of $250.00 for both. I had a $20 coupon and my friend had a $20 coupon. Since she did not find a pair of shoes that she wanted she offered to put one pair of my shoes on her credit card and I would put the other on mine. (so we could make use of the two coupons that would be expiring next week). The clerk said she couldn't buy my pair of shoes and use her coupon. I questioned "why"? Her response was that it wouldn't be good customer service and they always promoted "good customer service". I left both pairs and went to the competitor in Chandler where I bought both pairs of shoes and he honored the Shoe Mill $20 coupon on both. So, they not only lost out on a sale of $250 minus the coupons, but also three old customers who will skip Tempe and go to Chandler. read more

I love this store. They have a huge selection of shoes that are extremely comfortable, but still very stylish. Over the past 10 years, I have purchased at least 7 pairs of shoes from this store, and I have always received wonderful service. I still have those shoes in my closet and wear them regularly, so you can see the quality is exceptional. I have worked with Helen several times to find just what I was looking for.
