DSW is located in the Tempe Marketplace on the south east side of the plaza. Shoes galore at this place. I looked at sandals since this is the season or showing your toes off. They had some red Fit Flops that were bright and shiny. I started to buy them and then decided I had too many Fit Flops at home already. Really how many shoes can you wear at once? The stars I gave are all due to Kiena who was the first and only person to even acknowledge us after being in the store for a good 15min. The others stared, as if, they seen us get out of an UFO and we were ALIENS. SHEESH The store looks small inside compared to other locations. It's designed poorly and unorganized! They had clearance items for Men and Women upfront, and in back which, was kinda tacky in my opinion. What happened to all clearance being in the back of the store? I think that's why the store looks kinda unorganized! Just my OCD Opinion. We went searching for walking shoes but couldn't find any. I noticed that the prices are steep on all shoes, including the clearance section. I remember when shoes here would be different brands and even non brand names would be hot but now they're stocked with shoes that looked low end and cheap. Quality of product has really gone downhill. (My opinion) They have completely gotten rid of the yellow 70% off shoes... those were my bargain buys back in the day. Thanks to Kiena the visit was worth stopping. Please giive her a raise and make her a Manager if she already isn't... she deserves to be AREA Managementand to go around all stores making sure that all employees are greetingand acknowledging customers!!! Buying shoes for kids is never fun and buying online is extra difficult. I brought my toddler into DSW to try on some shoes to be sure we had a good fit. This store has half an aisle of toddler sizes and full aisle of youth sizes. With the way the displays are set up, it was easy for my kid to quickly decide what she was willing to try on. She settled on a pair of Vans. We found if we stick with better know name brands the quality is a bit better and the shoes hold up a little longer. When we went to checkout the cashier checked the size and to make sure we had a left and right--we had two lefts. I appreciate that she took the time to fix it so we didn't have to make a return trip. I was a little disappointed there wasn't much of a selection of brands like Nike or New Balance in store, but you can always buy a couple sizes/brand online, ship to the store and immediately return what doesn't work. read more

Yes, I head straight and I mean do not pass GO, to the clearance section! As I am heading back there, I scan the area for my size. Once I spot my size I almost, no---- I gleefully skip to my section. Once I have taken a look at the clearance section, I start making my way to the checkout counter. But as I do, I peruse the isles of shoes that are not on clearance. I check out sandals and boots usually. DSW has all kinds of shoes by many different brands. Like many shoe stores now, DSW carries many different types of accessories from Jewelry to Purses. I ordered a pair of shoes online and tried them on around my house for about 5 minutes before deciding that they fit a little too tight. I went to this store a couple weeks later with my receipt to return them and had a successful return, but only after debating with the cashier and manager about how much the shoes were worn. Granted, there was a bit of dust (?) on the bottom of the shoes, but they hadn't been worn outside or anywhere else, just in the tile floor of my house. The manager accepted the return after an accusatory warning about how the shoes can't be returned with damage. It was so awkward and I felt like they thought I was lying. Just a fair warning to anyone trying on shoes at home... wear them only on carpet or wipe down the bottom of the shoes before taking them back to the store or "next time" they "won't accept them". read more

They had a decent selection of dress shoes in his size. I wouldn't say it was large, but it was huge compared to what we found at other stores. The prices for men's dress shoes seemed a bit high: $70 - $100, with the "true" dress shoes being $100. My shoes were affordable. Pretty shoes starting at about $30 - $40. Well , I had seen this place before,but had never gone in side. That is until about 1 month ago. When a fellow Yelper did a review. Then I thought why have I never gone in before?? So I did. Dangerous? yes, for me. I have the shopping disease as many of my friends tell me. DSW really brought that out in me. Maybe that is why I avoid it. But, this place is stacked high with many fabulous pairs of shoes. All at a fairly reasonable price. So Hello DSW The Shoe wonderland. It is clean and well organized, so you can search and actually find what you are looking for. Yest another wonderful thing. They also have a rewards program, so the more you shop ,they more you save. When I saw that they were opening a DSW in the Tempe Marketplace, my heart leapt for joy since that is just down the street from my office. I stopped in there for the first time yesterday after work since I had some time to kill before the ISC dinner. I was super impressed!! The store is very clean and well organized since it is brand spanking new. But on top of that it is decorated in a really nice way. I loved the fact that they had the clearance section separated by a small wall since that area usually gets crazy. And the purse section seemed larger and not so cluttered as compared to the Chandler location. My only complaint is that I don't think they have enough registers or room for queuing since I am sure once everyone realizes that this place is here they will be very, very busy! There were not too many people shopping when I was there yesterday. I had to do a return of something I had purchased online but the person who helped me was really friendly. I did a little shopping afterwards (not too much since the hubby was with me) and the salesperson on the floor was also really friendly and able to direct me to the exact location of a particular item I was looking for when I described it to her. Did I mention that this store is humungous?!? The biggest surprise was that I saw that they had name brand purses like Coach and Calvin Klein. The one in Chandler only has cheap looking no-name purses. So I was pretty surprised. Dammit! I had no intention of buying a new pair of shoes today. I looked down at my foot after lunch and discovered the sole was separating from the shoe. Naturally, this occurred while on a business trip. Bekah was the young lady who helped me struggle through the experience of trying to find a pair of shoes which would presumably have a break in period one could measure in seconds. The last thing I wanted was a pair that would cause blisters when I trudge through the airports on my way home in a couple of days. They have a much better than average selection of men's dress and dress casual shoes. I walked out with two pairs and directions to one of their other stores. I ultimately returned both pairs I bought there after finding a more suitable pair at their other location but that is no reflection of the shopping experience in this location. read more

Ankle injury likely due to my flat platypus feet - and long story short - I wound up looking for better shoes, I chose a shoe that I liked and was about to check out and buy it - when one of the guys working pointed out that the shoe I chose was not the right choice for my foot (I had asked them earlier for brand suggestions on shoes for flat feet), and then he took the time to tell me what kind of shoe I needed to be purchase and gave an extensive explanation of how I could identify the right shoe (though they were out of stock for the kind of shoe that I would've liked), but never the less this was one of the nicest customer service experiences I had had - I will definitely be going back to these guys ! read more

Not impressed with this company for the following reason: Can you explain to me why you have a 7000 sq ft store that carries zero woman's hiking shoes? Again, the store is in the desert where hiking is the #1 activity. Additionally, 3/4 of your store is dedicated to women's shoes. The store associate said at one point you had 1 women's hiking shoe and the store sold out. Wouldn't this be a clue to sell more women's hiking shoes? I find it very sexist since you have 10 skus of men's hiking shoes. Sounds like a good investigative news story. read more
