When I pulled into the parking lot, I was a bit intimidated. It is in a shopping center that caters to people with active lifestyles. I just wanted shoes that fit. I drove down from Vegas wearing brand new shoes that did not fit, even though they were sized higher than what I normally wear. My toe pain overtook my apprehension and I dragged my formally slender body inside. Monika came up to me and helped put my mind at ease. She spent time checking out what was wrong with my current shoes then took me over to scan my feet. Turns out my left foot is longer than my right. She started pulling out boxes of shoes to find the right fit for me, then we went through what colors I liked. What shoe companies I liked. I came in looking for a pair of shoes that would actually fit me properly...I ended up buying two pairs. One pair was not her store, so we arranged for the shoes to be shipped to my home. I was so relieved, I went back the next day, on our way out of town and bought another pair that I really wanted and my wife came in and bought herself a pair and sliders. Service was great. Friendly staff that love what they do. Prices were very reasonable, even considering shipping. Just go. Go now. You will not be disappointed. read more

I knew about this store for awhile but didn't get to check it out until today. I accidentally flushed my shoe laces to a pair of my running shoes down the drain today and needed to find replacement shoelaces. Who knew that finding shoelaces would be so difficult? I guess I should have just gone online to buy them! I first went to REI and then Road Runners and they both didn't have any in stock, so I then tried this store out and they had a good selection of shoe laces, but also many other items too besides running shoes. I liked some of their apparel and checked out some of the hydration packs they have in stock. Three or 4 staff members helped me out and everyone was so nice and really attentive. One guy even tried looking up a hose I needed for my Osprey 3L hydration pack, but they didnt have any in stock or online. But, I did find a pair of shoe laces and I will definitely be back again for my running needs! read more

Great service, high quality products at Sole Sports. I bought a pair of Hoka sandals that are supportive and comfortable. Will be back.

I've been a Sole customer for a decade, and their service and team have always been top-notch. They have the right tools and knowledge to fit you in the best pair of kicks for your goals and personal biomechanics. Plus they're active in the community, hosting events like group runs and connecting with run groups. I've had dozens of pairs of shoes in my career, from Frees to Hokas, zero drop to 12mm, neutral to stability, road and trail, and I can attest to the damage a poorly-suited shoe can wreak. I've watched as my arches and pronation have changed over time, and along with those my shoe needs. Whether you're just starting a couch-to-5k or a seasoned runner, you can't go wrong with Sole. read more

My 9-year-old wanted to join running club at school and he has never really owned running shoes in his life! He's a Vans / hiking boots kid. Anyway, I Googled where to get fitted for running shoes, and who had running shoes for kids. Sole Sports' reviews speak for themselves and they were close to home - so off we went. For the initial fitting a young lady helped us. She listened to his requests and was very patient with his sizing (he was anywhere from a six in women's to a 7.5 - who knows?). She made sure they fit in a way moms can't (lol) and allowed him to try them out on the treadmill. They didn't have the exact color in his size so they ordered them from another store for us. After we left he was *beaming.* He kept talking about how nice she was to him. I price-compared in the interim, even with Amazon, and their store was SPOT ON. I couldn't find the shoes even a buck cheaper - so of course we went back to pick them up! Sean helped us for pickup. I had purchased some of those stretchy, no-tie laces but had no idea how to put them in the shoes. My kiddo was VERY hesitant about them - but he also HATES tying his shoes. Anyway, Sean happily put the new laces in for us, showed both of us how to use them - and put them on other shoes. That was the instant my son was sold - because they were so easy to use. Upon checkout we got a discount - not sure if the shoes were on sale or what - but that was the icing on the cake. You've got customers for life - thanks for taking the time to make another lover of running and Sole Sports! read more

I purchased 2 pair of Hokas for my husband and me for our trip to Spain online from Sole Sports. They arrived a few weeks prior to the trip which was two weeks. My husband didn't try his on so when he finally did, they were too narrow so he didn't wear them. He usually wears an average width. I assumed it was too late to return. In November, a friend suggested I just ask if they would take them back. Lo and behold, they said that they would change them out for another pair. My husband is now the happy owner of a pair of Brooks. Friendly staff and customer service is above and beyond. read more

They have the most friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful sales staff! This is definitely the place to go for athletic shoes.

I was having difficulty finding a good pair of walking shoes so I came here. Kelly was fantastic and brought out several shoes for me to try after she measured my feet and checked my gait. We found the perfect pair and I'm so happy I have new quality shoes that will provide support! This store exhibits wonderful customer service, good selection and competitive pricing. They did a fantastic job helping me find the best shoe for my needs. I have a size 16 foot and require something comfortable with a wide enough toe box so it doesn't create "hot spots" on the toes or foot. They recommended the Hoka Clifton for my body weight and size. Very thorough analysis and really felt heard and understood. read more

Call first! The store was lovely and we had professional service and I don't think their very good reputation should get dinged for an inventory system error, thus the five stars. HOWEVER please be aware that while the website seems like it's up-to-date with in-store sizing and per-store inventory, it is not. We drove more than 30 minutes there last night to purchase the remaining size 12 Nike high jump shoe that was "in stock" according to the website. But they did not have them in stock. Disappointing revelation + lots of time and gas wasted. Nice employees though, and they were almost as bummed as us. read more

I went to Sole Sports because after years of not running I've started running and was training for a 5k. My first trip there was pretty good overall and I got a decent pair of shoes. The salesperson didn't put me on the fancy foot assessment thing but did observe my gait and helped me try on a bunch of different shoes until I found a pair I liked. During our interaction she asked if my toes went numb when I ran and I said no. But after a couple runs in my new shoes I did notice some numbness. So I went back, took my wife with me since she's been running on an 8 year old pair of shoes, and I'm super glad I did. This time we got James. He was phenomenal. Put us both on the computer thing, brought out so many pairs of shoes I lost count, inserts to help with my high arches, and educated us on being a more serious runner with all his experience running marathons. We got so many pairs of the right socks, two pairs of shoes each to allow the pair we aren't using to reform between runs (returned the pair I got before cause it didn't really work for my feet), and two pairs of inserts. Did the bill add up, yes. But it's way cheaper than having the wrong shoes and ending up with long term foot problems especially since I plan on running for a bunch more years. James spent at least two hours with us making sure we had everything fit just right. Worth every penny read more

Sole Sports is the place to go! With gyms closed we are all out in the great outdoors walking or running, what better time to make sure you have the best shoes on your feet. My husband and I came here to check out their men's shoe selection, especially their Hoka and Brooks, having received several recommendations from our podiatrist and other friends and family members on trying those shoe brands. Doug was very helpful and knowledgeable on all things shoes, the various brands, features, and what to look for. They had the models and sizes my husband was looking for. Great customer service and custom attention to your shoe needs. I'd highly recommend supporting your local shoe spot and ask for Doug next time you stop by here! read more

I was not sure what shoes to get when I decided to train for 10k. Based on the reviews went to the store and got the Gait analysis done and they walked me through on my running style and suggested brands I never tried before. Instantly i could feel the difference and it changed my perspective of buying athletic shoes for training and running. Later i took my wife and she found her perfect pair and she could immediately tell the difference using them. I would recommend this place to anyone who is not sure about what shoes to buy and what works for them. The people who work here are courteous , polite and answer your questions patiently. read more

I love this place! I went in 15min before closing time just planning on grabbing some shoes and running out the door. The fella at the counter, Nathaniel, says "how can I help you? Are you in for a fitting or just some shoes" I said "I'd love a fitting, but I'm not sure we'll have time since you guys close soon." His response "we're open as late as you need us to be for you." wow! "Ok great yes I need a fitting" He proceeds to analyze my walk/run, asks about my injuries - achilles and iTband, same issues he has so it was even more comforting since he understood my pain and knew exactly what I needed, PLUS he gave me some pointers on healing and recovery. This kid is smart! Your great customer service won me over! Thank you Nathaniel for a stellar job! read more

I purchased a pair of Hoka shoes 6 months ago. One of them started to tear on the top. I stopped in and spoke to Matt. He gave me a new pair without question... I have visited Sole Sports many times and everyone is super helpful. They all get 10 stars for customer service read more

These people know their [athletic] shoes! I adore Sole Sports. I originally bought a pair of shoes here about a year ago on the stern suggestion of one of my gym's trainers. Just by looking at the bottom of my then-gym shoes she instructed me to buy a new pair and not come back until doing so. Naturally I took the next day to go to the store and see what I could find. I have awkward feet [wide flat high-instep] that can make it difficult to find good-fitting, comfortable gym shoes. I only had to try on a few pairs before finding the winner in 2016. I wore them to my next session and felt they were a little too big for my feet. Luckily though I work near another Sole Sports in Scottsdale and was able to exchange for a smaller size. So come to last week when I was instructed again by same instructor to get a new pair of gym shoes. Since they keep customer information, I was in and out of this Tempe location in 30 minutes. I literally went straight from the gym and pointed to my Asics shoes upon arrival and let the rep know I wanted the same pair but newer. Within a few minutes he brought out the new styles and I was able to get an updated pair for about what I paid a year ago. I didn't need long to walk around the store to determine which size would work. Since I was a returning customer I received 10% off my bill. Yes good shoes can be expensive, but if you care about your feet and not hurting yourself when working out, the money is totally worth the investment. I love my Asics and the care the Sole staff give to ensure a good pair of shoes leave their store on your feet! read more

They took the time to find me a perfect pair of shoes. After a couple of tries they are perfect.

I can't say enough good things about this shop. Rich and Josh are awesome. I bought a pair of Brooks Beasts this summer as my wife raves about her Brooks shoes and I'd read good things about the Beasts specifically for bigger runners. Josh fitted me and did a nice job dialing in the size and confirming EEEE as I'm flat footed and always done well with New Balance 4Es. Since the special order took a few days and I needed a new pair of running shoes for my vacation in New Hampshire, I ordered the same same shoe off Amazon thinking I'd have two great pair of shoes. Unfortunately, they did not work out for me, super uncomfortable running and walking with bad cramping in the ball and outer edges of my feet. So after trying them 4 or 5 times, needless to say, I never wore the pair that came in from Sole Sports and I kept thinking to return but honestly felt bad and kept procrastinating. Finally today I went in and talked to Rich, explained the situation and asked if he would honor the Brooks 365 promise for new shoes. He said absolutely, took the time to observe my gait, brought out 3 pairs of shoes for me to try (Hoka, New Balance and Brooks) and told me to focus on cushioning feel because he knew that 4E would be special order. I LOVED the Hoka One Ones and he said he'd be happy to special order but also suggested that I go to the New Balance outlet to try on the 4Es because he was sure they have them in stock and I'd told him I had good experience with NB. This is the kind of customer service that really shines and reminds me of the kind of local relationships I've built with bike shops. I really appreciate Rich's time and commitment to customer service and will definitely be back! read more

Stopped in to pick up a new pair of running shoes. Was not really sure what I wanted, but the staff was really, really helpful. Gave me a lot of options and explained the differences between all of them. Also, they did a gait analysis on my stride to help narrow the field of choices. All in all, a great experience and I would highly recommend to others. read more

Definitely earned my repeat business! I needed a new pair of running shoes and reviews online said the sizing changed from the previous version I was using so needed to go to a concrete store for some old fashioned shoe buying; not online. I stopped at one local store and had a terrible experience with both customer service and the stock available so finally took the reccomendations of friends and went here. And they were so friendly! I didn't much care for the redesign of the Asics gel cumulus so the attendant offered to bring out some comparables. As I tried on each shoe and made comments about the feel and weight. He was very knowledgeable in discussing the shoe features. I mean that's super nice because that's why I'm going to the store, to try out shoes and weigh the pros and cons. I finally tried Nike Air Zoom Pegasus and my foot felt like home. Like my foot was hugged in the most comforting way. Like I wasn't alone anymore. After tolerating some weird comments about how the shoes made me feel comforted and safe, I tried on some more shoes, the clerk also giving his feedback on the qualities I pointed out. I ended up choosing the Nikes. I didn't feel like he was pressuring me into more expensive shoes and really listened to what I was looking for in a shoe. I also felt like I got such a good deal I bought a shirt too! They explained a generous 30 day exchange/ return policy if I got them home and didn't end up loving them. I love that I also have an option to exchange if they aren't everything I'm expecting. Overall, I left with a great pair of shoes at a reasonable price that had all the qualities I'm looking for. Will definitely buy my shoes here in the future. And pretty sure I'm gonna be super lighting fast on tomorrow's run! Yay for shoes! read more

Austin was exceptional- I can't believe this store has been here this whole time! Right around the corner from my house and I didn't even know it- done! I will never go anywhere else again. The knowledge about shoes, friendliest staff and patience far exceeded anything I have ever received before from a sneaker buying experience. Tip: Ask for the run test where they watch how you run on a treadmill so you can actually see your own feet on video! So cool!! You don't get that at the place down the road. Sneakers, 2 pairs of running shorts and a couple tops at 50% off - score! Thanks Austin and Richard for all your help! See you again soon! read more

Have lived in Tempe one year now and needed a new pair of running shoes. A treat to myself after completing a four day Police Officer Bicycle class. I found this local jewel on yelp and gave it a try, because smaller running stores have runners as employees. Was not disappointed! Incredible and helpful service as expected. Didn't have the shoe I wanted, but had it delivered from their Scottsdale store. I was also given a discount, I wasn't expecting, because I work for ASU PD!
