Runner's Den is a well stocked athletic shoe company and the employees are very knowledgeable and helpful. I got supportive shoes to help with my plantar fasciitis and they brought out quite a selection and seemed concerned that I get the right fit. I'm very satisfied with their service and the shoes. They do not sell cheap shoes but quality shoes at a reasonable price. My health is worth it. read more

This is a cute local shop with a good selection of shoes and anything else you might need as a runner. I did some google research before shoe shopping here, but nothing can compete with a real human runner, measuring your arches and finding something specific for your needs. Staff here were so helpful. I tried on a few different brands, and Paul helped me pick out something perfect. He also gave helpful advice on how long I could expect them to last and what to watch for. The value was definitely worthwhile--my chosen shoes were even on sale. It was overall a great experience that left me feeling encouraged as I prep for my first half marathon. read more

Here visiting frm the CA Bay Area and needed some good trail running shoes. What a fantastic shoe store. I was offered help the moment I walked in and Dereck carefully determined my foot type got my feet measured. He provided a great range of shoes that would work with my feet. The shoes are comfortable and reasonably priced. They even carried my favorite socks with a 4 for the price of 3 deal. Great experience overall! read more

I bought 2 pairs of shoes for me (Hoka Bondi 8 & Brooks Addiction Walker 2) and a pair of Brooks Addiction Walker 2 for my sister on my 1st visit to Runners Den on 6/26/24 for my east coast trip. While replacing the insoles on Brooks shoes w/ Dr. Scholls' insoles, I was very surprised to see LOTS of dog hair on them. I even used packaging tape to get the dog hairs out and realized, Runners Den sold me NOT ONLY a USED pair of Brooks Addiction Walker 2, which was returned on 6/29/24, but also with insoles from different brands ("CUSHION" (left) & "BROOKS" (right))!!! The attached photos were taken AFTER I cleaned them using packaging tape. Luckily, my sister's Brooks shoes were NEW pairs of shoes. I'm very disappointed especially that the Runners Den was recommended by my podiatrist from Phoenix Foot and Ankle. read more

We started with an upbeat greeting. Then onto the knowledge of Paul was like none other. Paul was pleasant, professional and shared his knowledge. Paul also has a good sense of humor. Really good selection of shoes. Knowledgeable staff that takes the time to get the right fit you are looking for.

I was in the store for size 13 wide Hoka Govita 4 running shoes. Sales person reported that shoes I wanted were not in the store, but he would be happy to order them and it takes 7 days to arrive. I agreed to that and the exact shoes I wanted arrived in 7 days. I am wearing them now as I write this review. Where do you think I will be buying my next pair of shoes ? I ran for 12 years and then "retired" due to injuries. It's been years since the injuries occurred and I really miss running so I stopped in to find a new pair of shoes. I forgot I needed stability and now my feet are wider so I would have never found these shoes without Derek's help! He spent at least an hour helping me try on shoes and encouraged me to sign up for the training program. It's just what I needed to get motivated. Thank you! read more

If you're a beginner , intermediate , or expert runner , this is the place to come get your shoes. Great selection of inventory BUT most importantly, the staff is very knowledgeable and can answer your questions! I would consider myself a beginner, getting 5-7 miles a week, but I came in here and got the HOKA Mach 4, and they are simply stunning! Super light, super comfortable, and lots of cushion! I've been a loyal customer for many years. No more. I went in today to buy some shoes and had a truly shitty experience. Every time I've ever bought shoes from them they automatically apply a loyalty discount. When I noticed there was no discount I simply inquired about it. Apparently that was a mistake. The young guy helping me called over a supervisor or something like that I'm not sure but the guy was an absolute (I'll let you use your imagination). He acted like I just crawled out of a gutter and was looking for a handout. Anyway, I ended up getting the discount but I'll never be returning. read more

I've been back here a couple of times and...it's leaving a bit to be desired. They never seem to have my size in the sports bras I want, and the past two times I've been there no employee has offered to help me (yes, I can ask but...if it's your business...then...). I think I'm gonna hunt around for another place to get my gear. read more

We have been to Runner's Den many times. This store is not very big but, it does a very good business. Don't know if it's the location or the people that work there. Probably more because of the people, they are always so helpful. Originally our first time here was for a very good reason, "planters fasciitis" a very painful foot problem. Someone gave us some advice to visit here and find a good pair of shoes to help alleviate the foot pain. He just happened to visit here the one night they had a podiatrist to give advice on footwear. The shoes he bought plus the inserts helped to alleviate the pain and help it go away. That's the reason we started coming here. Today we just wanted a new pair of shoes to wear for comfort and we found them. The place was very busy and you could tell a lot of athletic people and distance runners come here. They have clothing and other types of items to buy for your needs. The shoes can be pricey but, if you are in a sport or into some athletic venture this is the place for you. Like I said, their staff is very helpful and will assist you in finding the right shoes for you. If by chance you later on have need for a good pair of shoes to make your daily walk or training, try them, you might be surprised. read more

At Runners Den all employees are knowledgeable and take their time with you. Inventory and selection are great. I've only been in on a Saturday and the place is always busy. I always get acknowledged quickly and take a stroll around the store while waiting my turn. (I needed to be fitted for new shoes and wanted to try out Oofos). Helpful Hint: when looking for a new pair of shoes bring in your old ones. It's helpful to show where the wear happens and better tell if where you pronate. The Runner's Den is an amazing local store that supports runners of all levels. They provide customized feedback on shoes to make sure you get the right shoe. They watch you run a short distance to find your gait, watch your knees, etc. they also provide a full array of running clothes, socks, hats, and more. They also manage a local running group that meets a few times a week. I've been a customer for over 10 years and don't have enough good things to say! Buy local read more

Always receive great help with shoes! Best place to go for advice on proper shoes & fit for your feet.

I'm not a runner. Okay, let me walk that back a bit. I was a runner (sort of, I never did more than 10k runs), but my knees started failing me when I reached my 30s thanks to a mix of bad family genetics and decades of athletic punishment. And for awhile I also dealt with a really bad case of Plantar Fasciitis (basically extreme pain in the arch of my foot). I needed shoes that would specifically allow me to walk long distances or get light workouts while giving me desperately needed arch support. On the recommendation of a family member, I came to Runners Den. You'll find Runners Den inside a nondescript looking building on the northeast corner of 16th Street and Maryland. The store is small, but the shelves are stocked full of gear that would make any marathoner beam with joy. From wearable fitness devices, to running clothes, to camelbacks, and yes of course the shoes. The store is pretty much created with runners in mind as evidenced by the fact that most of the store staff will start the conversation by asking you when you're running your next marathon. The first time I was asked this question the conversation went like this: Me: Probably never Him: Why not? Me: My knees are shot and I've got plantar fascia issues. Him: What if we can find you a shoe to solve those problems? Me: Does such a miracle shoe actually exist? Him: Only one way to find out And off we went. The shoe selection here is definitely on the more expensive side ($150 on the low end) but there's little doubt Runners Den has top quality kicks. We ended up trying about a half dozen different shoes before I settled on a pair of Asics that quite literally transformed my feet. The abundant arch support and cushioning were a game changer, so much so that I haven't had plantar fascia issues since. My knees still aren't quite what they used to be, but thanks to Runners Den I can now get a good workout and walk all day without any pain. I've now been a loyal customer of Runners Den for 4 years and have always been able to get a great pair of athletic shoes that I can count on. And with their loyalty rewards program I get a discount each time I buy a new pair. Their staff are always extremely encouraging, enthusiastic, and knowledgable and the shoe selection is phenomenal. My feet can attest to the fact that their products are worth the money and the pleasant customer service is just icing on the cake. No wonder they've been around since 1978. I still don't think I'll ever run a marathon in my lifetime, but like the first Runners Den employee told me, never say never. read more

Came here to purchase a new pair of running shoes as my last pair had more than 600 miles. I read that I should replace my shoes every 500 miles somewhere, when I checked my record, it was a way over 500 miles but my race day was so close, I waited until my race was over. Be sure to arrive with your current running shoes if possible. Staff looked at my shoes and assessed how I normally run before she asked me to walk and run. She also asked how many miles a week I run, how many races I did, to assess my needs. She brought three pairs to try on. As soon as I put the second choice, I knew it was meant to be mine. I tried on the third one, then back to the second, as soon as I put the second one, it was an instant decision. Just felt so right. It was like this pair was designed just for me! Race packet I picked up included a coupon for another shoe store (much larger corporation). I read their Yelp reviews but saw too many negative reviews. Decided to not to use that coupon, another Yelp search led me to this store. Thank you Yelp for another great find! She didn't push or recommend unnecessary accessories. Price was reasonable. Overall my shoe shopping experience was very pleasant. Looking forward to running with my new pair for the next 500 miles. read more

Sure it isn't cheap. You pay for service and selection from a specialty store. I'm always surprised at how few good specialty shops of any kind there are in Phoenix. As far as I can tell Runner's Den is THE specialty running store in the Valley - and thank the gods its a great one. It can be crowded on weekends, and the wait for assistance can be maddening, but it is worth it. The only way they could afford more floor space and staff would be to broaden their focus and then they would just be another Champs or Big 5. Want to get fitted for shoes by someone who knows what they are doing and can recommend the best shoe for you? Maybe analyze the wear pattern on your present clogs and suggest a replacement? Or would you prefer going to the mall, saving $15 bucks and having a pimply-faced teenager who spends most of his life on Xbox take care of you? It's your choice! I was a serious - meaning top 20 nationally in my age-group - multi-sport guy when I lived in SoCal, so I think I know a good running store when I see one. And trust me, Runner's Den is LEGIT! The folks working there are all runners and pretty serious about what they do. Excellent selection of shoes, socks and toys for foot massage and other devices. Things you might find at Tribal Multi-sport but otherwise nowhere else in the Valley that I know of. You will not be disappointed. Oh yeah, parking is a bitch at this place. On the weekend, you may wait for a spot. Skip the Suburban and take the Mini-cooper. read more

It was a good experience, my salesperson Craig, was very knowledgeable. He had me take off my shoes and socks so he could look at my feet and see how I stand and walk. He said I turn my feet to the side when I walk so I needed a specific shoe to correct that. He had me try on three different kinds of shoes and then walk outside while he watched my gait. He suggested the Asics Gel Foundation. I like them they are pink, yaay. I wanted a pair of more brighter color shoes but he said I can't have them. LOL These shoes were $100. I looked online and they are the same price at other places. Anyway Yall, this is the first time I have EVER bought sneakers that were not Adidas. I am a ADIDAS brand loyalist, but I had to do what was right for my feet. They have all kinds of sports bras too. So I bought one. It's a little small, just a little, it's a 44DD. I'm a 46F and dropping. I might be a 44F or 44DDD now actually. I don't know, I havent been measured in forever. But it was only $42 and with my discount it came to $36. Half the price of a Enell bra. So by the checkout counter they have all these energy gels and stuff I've heard about and I asked the cashier, Barry, if I needed that stuff. He said only if I workout for more than 90 minutes at a time, which I DO sometimes. He said after 90 minutes your body starts burning muscle so this energy gel stuff helps to stop that. you're suppose to take it around the 45 minute mark. I bought Honey Stinger and Gu gel products. read more
