Food: 5/5, the pork belly is a must!! Very crispy and delicious. The garlic chicken was very tasteful and healthy. I love the pad Thai!!! Service: staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Ambiance: love the Thai decor as well as the open seating outside. They do have happy hour and lunch specials. I haven't tried them but will do!! Will definitely come back here again!!

This place is on second and Belmont Shores so if you know you know about the parking situation. The only reason why I give is place three stars because our server was super friendly, went above and beyond, always filing very tentative. However, the food here was to be honest very mid and bland. I ordered the papaya salad which came with pork rinds, but there was no flavor in this whatsoever. It was mostly all texture my friend with rice. I think she'd like it, but I wouldn't come back here again.

Been to this place a few times. Not too busy except peak dining times. Great location, great food. Good menu, really as good as it gets

pork belly ($16) + thai sausage

The Second Owl is drastically different than its predecessor. Located on 2nd St. it caters to a different crowd with a different palette. I had definite favorites when I dinner-ed here - both of which were starters. The sea bass larb ($21) was a refreshing way to start the meal. The Chilean sea bass is served ceviche style with fresh lime juice, fish sauce, cilantro, green + red onions with rice paper crisps. There wasn't anything groundbreaking about this dish, but it was a very solid ceviche. We also tried the kao tuna na tung ($13) which was a first for me. Ground pork, shrimp, and aromatic spices are simmered in coconut milk and paired with shrimp cracker wafers. It's surprisingly light, but flavorful. For proteins, we shared a sausage platter (a little dry), pork belly ($16), and the crying tiger ($28). The one misgiving I have is the fact that all 3 are served with the same sauces which ultimately keep them tasting pretty similar. I think The Second Owl is a great place to take out of town guests or if you're entertaining a nice dinner. The menu offers classic Thai dishes alongside less common offerings which keeps the menu exciting.

First time at Second Owl here at Belmont. I've tried Owl Owl in the past in Signal Hill and liked it so was craving for good savory Thai food and decided to stop by Second Owl. I got drunken noodle with crispy pork and sea bass larb take-outs. The drunken noodle was very flavorful, love that wok fire flavor. The crispy pork earned its name and it was crisp to the tip! So crunch, I wish there were more of it. The sea bass larb was full of flavor, fresh, citrusy, paired very well with the shrimp chips. The service was great and it didn't take too long to wait for my food. They also have a restroom for customers only and it's around the corner of the restaurant. Highly recommend!

The best food on Second Street! The Second Owl is a must try when in the area. The ambiance makes it perfect for a family dinner, friend catch up, or a weekly date night outing. And the people make you feel like you're a guest in their home. Second Owl's menu has plenty of options and each one is worth trying! The food is aromatic, beautifully presented, and, most of all, tastes incredible. I appreciate that some of the menu options are seasonal as well so I feel like there's always something new to try even when I order my staple faves. This level of food and comfort is only possible at Second Owl. Must try's: Mango Sticky Rice, Pad See Ew, Green Curry, Kao Soi Filet Mignon, Tom Kha, Tom Yum, Owl Fried Rice, Kao Soi Duck. I am attempting to try everything on this menu!

We had a great experience at The Second Owl! We were seated right away, and our waitress, Shanon, was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our meal. The food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the Pad See Ew and the Thai tea. Everything came out fresh and flavorful. Great food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

Second owl is a hidden gem off of 2nd street. The hubby and I came here in a Saturday early evening for dinner. It wasn't to packed at the time which was nice. Shannon who took us to our seats, took our order and brought our drinks and food was one of the best servers I've had at a restaurant. She was very sweet and attentive. I ordered a butterfly tea( a very sweet and tart lemonade taste). And the hubby ordered a Thai lager beer. Both drinks were refreshing for a warm summer evening! Me and the hubby shared the pad Thai( mild) and crispy wings. The wings came with a sweet sauce and other different flavor sauce that was good as well. We also got hot sauce, pickled jalapenos, and a fish sauce in the side as well. Everything was very flavorful and filling. For dessert although I would have loved to try the mango sticky rice( it was out of season), I ended up getting the Thai tea Tiramisu. I was very happy with my choice! It was delicious!! Just like a Thai tea but in cake form lol. I will definitely be coming back here!!

Larb Salad and Chicken Satay

The Second Owl seriously hit the spot. Here's the official breakdown of how I'm ranking the dishes we tried. Marry: The pork larb. No hesitation. This was the star. So fresh with lime and herbs, perfectly balanced heat, and the shrimp chips added that perfect crunch. The night before we watched Matty Matheson's Just a Dash and he made larb, which totally sparked my interest! This is the dish I would come back for again and again. F: The pork belly. Crispy on the outside, buttery tender on the inside. It did exactly what it was supposed to do and did it well. Rich, satisfying, and a little indulgent. Kill: The chicken satay. And I say that with respect because it was still good. That peanut sauce was creamy, savory, and slightly sweet in the best way. Unique from other peanut sauces for sure. But compared to the other two dishes, it just did not steal the spotlight. Someone had to go. Service was excellent and the presentation of each dish was beautiful. You can tell they really care about what they are putting out. The interior was nice and modern. Everything came out in a timely fashion and was great from start to finish. I will definitely be back for more larb and to work my way through the other menu items!

If you've ever eaten at Owl Owl, you'll love the more upscale version on 2nd Street. We stopped by for lunch on a Monday and it was pretty dead. The service from the start was friendly. We were given a lunch menu in addition to the regular menu. The lunch menu just adds a soup or salad in addition to the entree. We shared the mild Pad Kee Mao with chicken and love the amount of veggies in this dish. Although we asked for mild, it definetely still had a kick of spice. The salad was fresh topped with a delicious dressing. The Butterfly tea is a must order. It's amazingly pretty and tastes so good. We sat outside and flies can be an issue, but there are mini fans on the table that somewhat helped. Metered parking is available. Overall, this spot still has the same great flavors as the original. The cost was just a bit high at $30 for 1 entree and a drink. Didn't quite feel like lunch special pricing.

A Yelp Elite event brought me to this cool little boutique restaurant. It has a simple, industrial style decor, with a few large garage style doors that open up and make the space feel bigger and more open. The staff and service were good everyone was nice and friendly. We did not have a reservation and waited no more than five minutes to be seated (around 630p on a Saturday), but it quickly filled after we arrived. It seats only about 50 diners. Food, we ordered a fresh green salad, chicken wings and duck egg rolls fir appetizers, snd Owl Fried Rice, and crab with Thai chili and basil as shareable entrees. I had a beer with my meal, and my wife had the sangria. The kitchen flow/timing was a bit off. After our order was taken, we waited about 15 - 20 minutes before the first appetizer came out. As we worked through the appetizers, the Owl Fried Rice arrived. About halfway through the rice, I realized I never got my beer and had to ask for it (I think it was forgotten). We were nearly done with the rice and still hadn't received the crab dish, so I asked the waitress about it. She looked surprised and said she'd check on it. About 5-10 minutes later, the crab dish finally came out. My wife's second sangria was comped due to this error. Let's talk about the food: Green salad - Good and fresh. Did exactly what a salad should do. Wings - Excellent. Well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Three wings - portion was smaller than typical, as this was part of the Yelp comp. A normal app is 5 wings. Duck egg rolls - Great flavor, but the wrapper was a little thick and dense. Owl Fried Rice - Really good overall. The curry flavor comes through strong in a good way. My only issue was that there was just one shrimp in the whole dish. Maybe go lighter on the pineapple and add more shrimp. Crab with Thai chili and basil - Excellent. The flavors and preparation were on point. Despite the delays, this was still a pleasant experience. I'll definitely return and would recommend checking this place out. If the weather's nice, I suggest grabbing a patio seat (there are only nine).

Great Thai food! Great addition to Second Street/Belmont shore. We decided to try something new and happy we did! Second Owl is cute staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The pad Thai amazing, our appetizer egg rolls so yummy. Happy hour has great pricing - can't wait to go back for their sangria. They allow dogs on their sidewalk dining area - parking is typical of the Belmont shore area.

A rare find!! A unique Thai place in this very crowded Belmont shore neighborhood. Located on the corner. There is street parking all over. A bit loud, but animal friendly with their patio seating too Very large menu for such a small place. They have lunch specials and a happy hour menu too Real food made by real people. Everything was plated beautifully and packed a whole ton of flavor too

How much are the lunch specials? Why are there no prices on the menus? Except upgrades.

The prices are on the left of the items, but I can see how you mistook them for their list numbers. The prices are looking pretty high.

But this place is a must. You know what to expect and the food is alway great so to be a regular is nice. Every time we stop by, there not usually a wait time even though it's pretty lively. The flavor is alway great and every bite, flavorful. Of course the only place that I alway get the boat noodles. I've had it at other places but this is my favorite in Long Beach. The broth is great and thick with all the meat. Chinese broccoli accompanied as well. It's comfort food and alway hits the spots. This time we've tried another dish that we've never had. The chili garlic fish with rice. We were informed that it would take about 15 minutes which was fine. Deep fried sole fillets with garlic and chili sauce served on top a bed of mixed salad. First off, there was loads of fish and it was quite tasty and the sauce, it was good. A dish that was quite tasty and great for sharing. The fried rice was next level good. And the tom kha soup was excellent as well. I didn't love the drunken noodles themselves but the bbq pork on the dish was delicious. The fried pork belly was a little too tough to eat but the sauces it came with were both great. And the basil eggplant was solid. Would definitely come back to try some dishes in person like the Khao soi!

So, I found this S T Noodle Bar near by and decided to give it a try. I kinda know what there guys like to eat, so I just ordered a bunch of food. The only request from anybody was for Pad Thai, the most common dish at all Thai restaurants. I GPS my way over and order the food. I was Khao Soy on the menu and I don't see that at too many Thai places that I've been to, so I got an order of that with chicken. Of course, an order of Pad Thai, 2 orders since I have 5 hungry people to feed. Also, I ordered the Thai coconut soup, I think it's called Tom Kha with chicken. One more noodles dish was the Drunken Noodles, it's kinda like Chinese Chow Fun, but has a more spicy flavor and basil in it. The food was all pack and bagged for me to take back to the hotel. We used my room since I have a bigger room. We had plates and set ups for all five of us and we re-plated the food on the serving plates that came with the room. All the food was really tasty and everybody was happy not to have to leave the hotel. I heard compliments on the Pad Thai and the Coconut soup. It was a good idea just to do take out and eat at the hotel here.

They were large and looked more like onion rings. Not bad, but I prefer lighter batter. Also, see the subreddit WeWantPlates, hehe) - spicy seafood salad (fresh and bountiful amount of seafood) - steamed mussels in lemongrass basil broth (mussels were plump and tender and the broth was so good--my favorite) - Singha beer Service was prompt, and the prices reasonable. Very good first impression, would try again.

Since that time, I haven't had a delicious bowl of Singapore Laksa Mee. Being under the weather for several weeks, I thought it worth the gas money to visit the Uncle Fung in Long Beach for some Asian soup for the soul. Singapore Laksa Mee- Spiced coconut curry broth w/ shrimp paste, fried tofu, fish cake, shrimp, soy sauce egg, sweet corn, bean sprouts, shallots & green onion. If that isn't tempting enough, customers have a choice of bihon (rice noodles), flat noodles or housemade noodles. I keep telling myself to try the soup with bihon or flat noodles, but I always end up sticking with the housemade noodles. If it's housemade, how can you not? Just as good as memory recalls, the Singapore Laksa Mee was rich, soothing, and a pleasure to eat. You'd think I'd miss thick cuts of pork chashu, as with Japanese ramen, but I don't, at all. I relished each spoonful of soup, not leaving a drop inside my bowl. Service was great. The staff were friendly & hospitable. A good amounting of seating inside, the restaurant is on the quaint side, with a few al fresco tables for dining outside. Uncle Fung Borneo Eatery is located inside the Target shopping center, between HiroNori Craft Ramen & The Melt. I will make it my mission to be a frequent customer of Uncle Fung Borneo Eatery in Long Beach. I don't want this location to suffer the same fate as the Buena Park location, as I would have to drive to Alhambra to visit their sister restaurant, Borneo Kalimantan, to get my Singapore Laksa Mee fix. Their entire menu is great, whether it be their roti or noodle plates. However, for first timers, I highly recommend Uncle Fung's Singapore Laksa Mee.

[Atmosphere]: Casual eatery and customers order at the front counter. The eatery only accepts takeout orders when ordering after 8 PM. Luckily there are several outdoor tables for plaza visitors, so our party was able to eat at a table rather than inside my car. [Menu]: Smaller selection at this location than at Borneo Eatery in Alhambra. Some of Yelp's top highlighted items include Singapore Laksa, Roti Prata, and Chicken Satay. *** Roti Prata (flour based pancake grilled until perfection and served with Indonesian curry sauce - small $5.50): Absolutely delicious pancake with an amazing curry dipping sauce. The dipping sauce was basically a stronger version of the curry broth from laksa. If you like the curry broth from laksa, then you will like this even more. Singapore Laksa (shrimp based curry laksa broth, shrimp, fish cake, fried tofu, marinated egg, sweet corn, bean sprouts - egg noodle $15.50): Good noodles and savory curry broth. This bowl of noodles had other excellent toppings like fish cake and marinated egg. *** S-tier on the food, but I will knock off a star on (1) being forced to order takeout 30 minutes before closing time, (2) smaller menu selection, and (3) additional transaction fee on using cards.
