I bought a pint for 8.00 tax included (I sure do like rounded numbers) of chocolate muddy cups, which as far as I can tell was, crushed Oreos and chocolate ice cream. Before then there was a yelp event hosted by yours truly (the scoop) in which the owner graciously served all her ice cream to demo for free along with her equally delicious waffles. Love this little place on the south hill. They serve roast house coffee and some of the best ice cream I've ever had! My personal favorite is the affogato waffle. A crispy waffle served with a scoop of ice cream and espresso poured over the whole thing. Best thing ever! read more

I was visiting family in Spokane and they raved about this ice cream shop during the trip. Last night, after pizza at Beneditto's (that's a whole other review and let's just say if I could give them more than five stars I would) we went to The Scoop! I'm obsessed with coffee ice cream and couldn't wait to try the mud pie. From the minute we stepped foot through the door and mind you I was wearing a mask the entire time, I was treated like a second class citizen by the workers and customers alike. Some in our group didn't have masks and looked from just inside the doorway at the menu to make their selections after they were asked to leave for not wearing masks. They were yelled at repeatedly (as were we) and the workers and other patrons made snide remarks about our presence right in front of us. The "scooper" acted as if I handed her a COVID covered credit card and physically backed away from me during the transaction and then asked us to leave out the back door, despite other patrons having the privilege of walking out the front door. I'm all for being safe and playing by the rules of required to do so, but this place and the workers were completely over the top and incredibly rude. I've never felt so uncomfortable or been treated so poorly as a patron. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed by the service and I was so disappointed by the treatment I received that I couldn't enjoy the ice cream. When people are willing to pay a premium for an ice cream and the experience instead of grabbing a tub at the grocery store, they don't do so expecting to be treated with so little respect. Shame on the two young ladies serving us last night. You need a lesson or two on manners and customer service ASAP or might I recommend that you select jobs that require less interaction with the public! read more

We were craving some top-notch ice cream and The Scoop is a well-known place for their creamy ice cream. We split a Chocolate Mocha milkshake and it was extraordinary! They are always busy, which is good for their business. However the shop is small and can tend to be crowded- just be aware of that. Their ice cream is very heavy cream based and leaves your mouth feeling coated in fat. It is delicious ice cream but it will absolutely hurt your body and make your mouth feel disgusting. The flavors are always unique and exciting, but they tend to only have bold flavor combinations, and no plain ones. Their vegan ice cream is very coconut heavy so be aware of that. It has a fantastic texture but if you don't like coconut you won't like their vegan ice cream. Because it is more gourmet ice cream it can be a little spendy for a lot of people, but it is a fun experience and fun for kiddos. read more

We stopped in from out of town because we saw The Scoop had good reviews on Yelp and it was fairly close to where we were staying. The neighborhood the shop is in is beautiful with nice tall trees and quaint little houses. The shop itself had an endearing quality about it, with stringed lights around the seating area. When we pulled up, there was a little line, but nothing too bad. The problem was that the shop entrance was really small, so standing and waiting clogged up the flow of people going in and out. Once we finally got up to the counter, everything was so disorganized that we could barely keep things straight. All we got was three kids scoops, but you would have thought we were ordering for the entire block by the way the young ladies behind the counter were rushing. One started helping us, but in the middle of the order started scooping for the couple behind us. We thought about ordering a cone for my wife and I to share, but amidst the chaos we just had to say no a get out of there as quickly as possible. A night that could have been relaxing and fun basically ended in annoyance and disappointment. As for the ice cream, from what I was able to tax from the kids at least, was good but not great. The ice cream was very good. They make it on site with liquid nitrogen. I had the salted caramel, the texture was great, creamy smooth perfect amount of salty and sweet. My wife had the salted carmel with pretzel pieces, the flavor was great but the texture was a little warm, they had to put it in a cup as it was almost melted. The atmosphere was perfect, the have alfresco seating and the weather was ideal. It is located in a residential area and is quiet and inviting. Now for the not so good. We also have wanted to try their liege Belgian style waffles. We ordered a Biscoff and berries, the berries were fresh and tasty and anything with Biscoff tastes great. However the waffle was very dry, ours was not make fresh at time of ordering, there were a few under the waffle baker that had been previously made and they put ours in a toaster to warm it. A liege waffle is supposed to be crisp on the outside and light in the middle, this was not, it was dry and heavy, albeit the light cinnamon flavor was pleasant. Next time "if" there is a next time I will insist on a freshly made waffle. read more

I came here on a Friday evening. My husband and I just had dinner at the Flying Goat with 2 other couples and we were all craving ice cream. It was hard finding any kind of place open past 7pm. The Scoop is tucked away in a lovely neighborhood and there was a man playing his guitar out on the patio. I ordered butter pecan I think. My friend got a waffle ice cream sandwich, essentially. I wished I would've saw that before getting my cone. But I guess there's always next time. We enjoyed our ice cream and the live music. You'll find 10 or so unique, handmade ice cream flavors, all of which we tasted were delicious. You'll also find a flavor or two that are non-dairy and gluten free if you swing that way, plus espresso drinks if you need a perking up (make it an afogatto for the best of both worlds). But what really makes this place special to me is the perfect creamy softness of the ice cream. Oh. My. This was the BEST ice cream I have ever had (I had Rocky Road Dublin). The coffee was good (had a cappuccino). And I will return to have a waffle. It looked so delicious but they were out of it. Guess I should show up early! Update: So I went back for the waffle. It was incredible! I had the Baconut (Crisp bacon, cream cheese, chopped walnuts, organic maple syrup $6.50) and my friend had the YO! Waffle (Greek yogurt, sliced banana, preserves, & sliced almonds $6.50). My bf bought a $15 deal from groupon for $30 worth of ice cream from this local creamery. BEST DEAL EVER! Of course we didn't get all $30 worth of ice cream in 1 day, but imagine the possibilities... endless! We came here near closing and their famous salted caramel was sadly all sold out =( sad sad day. we ended up getting a caramel swirl with cashews (totally botching the name here) and something else yummy. This is a great little ice cream shop in the middle of a gorgeous neighborhood. We stopped in after a recommendation from a family member. It was crowded with a line out the door. It's a little hard to get around. The gals that work there are super patient and friendly and let you try as many flavors as you want! This is great for picky kids. The waffles are so good! I think most people give any ice cream experience 5 stars, but The Scoop has really earned it. They have a nice variety of (rotating) flavors including some vegan and/or gluten free options. They recently launched a website listing the day's flavors so you can decide if it's worth the walk over (spoiler: it always is!) The ice cream is creamy and full of flavor, even the vegan ones! The shop itself has a great neighborhood feel. They pivoted very well during the pandemic and Covid precautions are strictly enforced. So many great reviews of this place! I almost feel as though I was at a different Scoop. I was super excited to try this place based on all these reviews and their honorable mentions in the papers, but I can't say I left there wowed by any means. I'm a bit if an ice cream snob so before making the drive, First, we checked out Yelp of course, second, we went to their website, I wanted to see flavor options etc.. and make sure there would be something for everyone including finicky kids who only like traditional flavors or fun flavors and us adults who like out side the box unique flavors. Based on the website I was very excited! Saw some yummy interesting flavors, such as the basil or the apricot pistachio, kids were excited about twinkle berry. It says on the site, "We make all our ice cream on a daily basis." Given this we hopped in the car on a Saturday evening spring time what better time? When we get there, I'm immediately disappointed that there are only about 7 flavors available two of them Salted Carmel and Carmel coffee toffee both of these very similar, also chai tea and Thai ice tea, again two similar flavors, they had lemonade, and the standard chocolate and vanilla. None of which I was enthusiastic about especially after having put in my head that I wanted to try basil or the apricot pistachio. We asked about these other flavors and were told that the available flavors rotate and change daily sometimes hourly. I get that, it's a small shop, local which I appreciate but, If the owners read these reviews my suggestion would be perhaps put that on your website along with a suggestion to call ahead to see if there is a particular flavor on hand. It's super disappointing to see these amazing flavors and get excited, plus make a drive to feel totally let down. I personally wasn't impressed with flavors on hand the salted Carmel and the Carmel toffee coffee are much to similar in taste and hardly unique or different I'm not a fan of the tea flavors and they had two of those. The kids got the standard vanilla and chocolate and my hubby and I got the salted Carmel. The ice cream is good and creamy, but just doesn't stand out to me as worth the drive. My other suggestion is to have a greater variety of flavors on hand rather than two tea flavors and two Carmel flavors, two of those could have been replaced by something totally different. I'm sorry my review has to be one of the more negative, I really wanted to be in love with this! I'm all about supporting local, small business and I'm sure eventually we will try again, maybe next time for the waffles! read more
