We were looking for great German food and found it at Schnitzel Garten in Eagle. We were lucky to come here when it wasn't busy and got quickly seated by the friendly staff. Their food choices are expansive and we ordered the bratwurst and Schnitzel dinners. And WOW!!! The brats were delicious and were perfectly pared with a robust mustard with horseradish. The seasoning in the brats was perfectly balanced. The Schnitzel was the best I have ever had. It was not the paper-thin variety you are probably used to while also being juicy and crispy at the same time. Great job chef. Went here for my birthday dinner and IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! The decor inside and out was absolutely perfect with the inside feeling lie eating in a castle great hall and the outside an actual real beer garden with a very pleasant pictures setting and garden patio space. We ate outside and there was plenty of room for the kids to run around while we waited for the food which was severed in a reasonable time and with very friendly and attentive staff. Now the food, absolute highlight! The Beer Schnitzel was amazing, one of the best I'd ever had in the U.S.! The beer itself was fantastic and tasted just like were in Germany and the cherry on top was the Apple Strudel which was a perfect blend of crispy and sweet. Will DEFINITELY be back in our next visit to Boise and highly, highly recommend! One of my new favorite restaurants in town! read more

Wanted to try this place out for quite sometime, but never find myself that far into Eagle. Father's Day came around and I knew what I wanted to do! I forgot the gentlemen's name that was working on Sunday, but his coworker called out sick and the man handled a busy patio and inside service by himself like a champ! The beer was good, the food was good, the service was even better! I had the Smoked Brats which were delicious, and highly recommend the apple strudel for dessert (yes you have room). For some reason Google Maps wanted me to pull into the persons driveway next door, so pay attention following the maps its kind of tucked away and hard to find. It was my daughters 28 birthday and she loves German food. We decided to give Schnitzel Garten a try. We are so glad we did. The place is very clean and charming. We were seated and the menu had so many options. I decided on Schnitzel, and im glad i did. It was very good. 8 oz of fried veal! My husband got bratwurst. We both got sauerkraut and had German warm potato salad. Then we both shared our meal. It was so yummy. Before we left the waiter gave my daughter apple strudel to take with her for her bday! Very nice German restaurant in Eagle, tucked away in a business center. Gasthaus decor with an outdoor Biergarten. We visited on Saturday at about noon, and dined Al Fresco in the Garten. The food is very good, one of the better German places we've eaten in the U.S., and we spent many years in Germany. The squeeze and I shared the Zigeunerschnitzel and the single wurst dish. I love the sauce on the Gypsy style schnitzel, all time fave. Personally, I think the sauce needs a touch of cayenne to give it a little spice. Still very good, and the taste authentic. We got it with fries, which were very good. The single brat was smoked and came with sauerkraut and spaetzle, all three of which were tasty. I had a half liter of the Hefeweizen, a yeasty wheat beer that's great on a hot day. It has hints of clove and banana. If you have never had one, you can get a free taste of it. Great service too! Now I was sorely missing the raisins in the apple strudel, but I guess their new pastry chef isn't as big a fan of raisins as I am... but I'm gluten free so I only get a smidge of a bite of the strudel as it is... if u order just know it may not be loaded w/raisins as in the past. (Their Turkish Baker retired; Rumor has it that the new in town but already has following "European Smak" pastry chef will help fill in that opening.) I must not let do much time go by between visits! Highly recommend whole menu, good for small & large groups. I do always suggest calling ahead, as they run a lean ship, so if a bigger party or special needs, give them time to try to prep. Had to check out the local German restaurant- I will say the service was good, they were really friendly and attentive, and the vibe is really chill. Seemed like there were a lot of regulars, which was super cool to see. Being German and loving traditional German dishes, I was super excited to find this place. I will say, it wasn't bad, and different parts of Germany cook differently. Overall we thought it was okay. The prices are kinda high (IMO) which is why I gave it the 3 stars. We ordered the mega pretzel which we felt was tasty, but I wouldn't order it again just because of the price point- and my teens ordered different schnitzel plates and I ordered the Frankfurter plate. I will say they have enough on the menu, and if I went back I would try something else, but overall just a little underwhelmed. Nothing horrible, and if you are in the area or want a fun little experience, definitely go check it out- I also don't drink beer, but of course they have a large menu and serve in glass steins. read more

Great outdoor patio, in the shade, that is dog friendly (and they appreciate four legged friends). Service was friendly and efficient. This is REAL German food and they have a great selection. Portions are large. The mushroom sauce (hunters style) on the schnitzel was delicious! Cucumbet salad was a pass for me, not my style but others may like. We were visiting from out of town and thought this spot seemed like a unique experience. They had live music which I think was a great addition. However, the service ruined a big portion of our dinning experience. I did not get our waiters name but he was very negligent which was disappointing since a lot of the dinning out experience comes from your interactions from the staff. I have never had to walk my check up to the waiter in order to pay before but we were running late despite coming here hours before our planned event. The food was mediocre especially for the price and the pretzel seemed frozen previously. Hopefully everyone else's experience was/will be better than ours. read more

We tried this place last week - I've seen numerous posts on instagram recently, and it held up to the good billing. We got in easily on a Sunday without a reservation, and the place filled up quickly. The beer is good, and the food is great. Had the Jager Schnitzel and it was awesome. I wasn't crazy about the spetzil - would have had sauerkraut but , believe it or not, they were out!! Service was good, I just wish our pretzel (appetizer) would have come out while we were enjoying our beer and not with dinner. The server was nice enough to let us sample the warm potato salad too. The restaurant is inviting and decorated well. Definitely give this place a try - we will be going back too! read more

It was way too salty...I left it on the plate. I'd also have to say whoever put the playlist together needs to rethink it. We came in for an early dinner with our family. We were promptly seated and given waters. My husband had a couple tasters of some German beers before ordering. We had the hunters style schnitzel and the beer sauce one. I had the cucumber salad which was very light and tasty. Sorta like milky pickles but in a refreshing way. My kids loved their brats, fries and spatzel. Unfortunately it was very quiet in there but as we were leaving more people were coming. The garden outside looks really nice. Outside seating very nice..if going for true German experience & knowledgeable servers probably not the place to go. It started with me ordering a Schneider Weisse off their beer menu..server came back and states they are out of that...ok no big deal and advises they had this other beer that replaced it..I ask if it's a Hefewesse..server states don't know..I'm convinced she really had little knowledge of the different types of German beers they were serving. I ask could I have a sample..she indicates sure.. others order it. When server comes back I have a full beer..ok..it's a hefeweisse no harm no foul..still no indication what brand.. now I'm going to come off as a beer snob but having gone to German many times..serving Hefe in a mug would not only be a major insult to customer, but also to the beer itself. I don't expect joes tavern to know this but a supposed German Restaurant should..come on. I know first world problems, right? Now let me touch a little bit on the food/expense. We had a party of six. We had six beers, two jumbo pretzels, three entrées and two apple strudel desserts with tip. The bill was $350. Remember six people split three entrées. if I'm paying that kind of money I think I deserve to have the right German experience from the server to the glassware that they are serving the beer in. Group of Eight Couples went for theme dinner night and it was fabulous and our waiter Richard was the best!!! The food was delicious! But I was glad that I split an entree so that I could enjoy the dessert. Just know the servings are generous!!! We've eaten here a couple of times now and we definitely enjoy it. Great beer selection and most of the dishes we've tried are really good. The Hax'n was not bad but nothing like what I'm used to in Bavaria, so I'd probably pass on that but the Schnitzel variants, especially the Jägerschnitzel and the Wiener Schnitzel are very solid. I also enjoyed the Currywurst but the price for what is a cheap street food in Berlin prevents me from ordering it again. The pretzel is excellent and the stroganoff stellar. We've never tried any desserts there but one of these days... If I could change one thing in particular that isn't related to the quality of the food, it's the use of the umlaut in the the word "Wurst" on the menu. There's no umlaut in Wurst, only in "Würste" which is the plural form of Wurst. It drives me nuts every time I look at that menu lol read more

We received a gift card from a friend so we went to lunch with our good friends. The service was amazing. We were greeted with smiles from our server as well as the owner. It was a beautiful day so we opted to eat out on the patio. First thing we did was got water from the ice cold water station. Our server was friendly and took our drink orders immediately. I stuck with water but my husband and one of our friends had a Hefeweizen. The other one had a traditional German wine. They all loved their choices. We finally decided on what to order to eat. It wasn't an easy decision, every thing looked delicious. My husband and I split the Zigeuner (Gypsy style) schnitzel with creamy red bell pepper sauce. We ordered fries as our side. The schnitzel was huge! Certainly enough for 2, probably 4 people! We also ordered the small sausage plate. We got a smoked brat wurst that came with sauerkraut and one more side. We ordered the spatzle. Every single bite was delicious! As an unexpected bonus, there was a parade going on right next to the restaurant. Fun, fun and more fun. My husband and I lived in Germany and this is the best and most authentic German food we've had since returning to the states. read more

Awesome! We tried Schnitzel Garten for the first time through Instacart/Uber Eats delivery. I've lived in Eagle for many years now and regret it took me so long to try it. I'm so used to much of our local restaurants' food being laden with sugar. Schnitzel Garden is the absolute exception. Having lived and traveled in Germany, the food was authentic and delicious! This place was extraordinary. The food was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection and plated well. The portions are pretty large, so if you don't tend to eat a lot- share with a friend! Our waiter was also the manager and he was very attentive and asked for our feedback on our food and service. He helped with the food that night too and was clearly very proud of that- as he should be. This was the best schnitzel I've ever had, hands down. I highly recommend getting the sauce sampler with whatever you get. All sauces were great, but my favorites were the lingonberry and bell pepper sauces. There are many beer choices there, and all I tried were great. If you're not sure what to get, they will give you a taster of the ones you're deciding between.
