With a couple of hours to kill in downtown Boise a nice beer sounded good. The selection of German draft beers was inviting too so I checked it out. I ordered a liter of Schneider Weiße Helles and a Currywurst. Not a typical combo in Germany - beer from Bavaria and fast food from Berlin but it worked. The beer was good and fresh. We stopped in for a drink and dinner (we didn't look at the menu prior so that was our fault) we didn't realize until we sat down it's not really a restaurant and just more of a bar with German bar food. Which is great don't get me wrong. Just wasn't what we were looking for. We have been to Germany quite a few times. We ordered a traditional German drink. Bitburger and sprite. And the server looked at us like we were nuts and kept questioning us. Overall the server wasn't very friendly or attentive. We had to get up to get him a few times. Anyhow the beer was great, the food looked great, just not the best service or knowledge of German Beer drinks for a German pub. I've been here several times and the food doesn't disappoint, what with the tiny kitchen area. I had the pastrami and havarti sandwich on rye. A decent amount of meat, topped with sauerkraut, onions, aioli and really good mustard on some bitchin' rye bread. The German warm potato salad was a great side. So me and the wife walking around downtown and found this place. I had really never tried German beer before and the food sounded good. Place was busy Found a few seats at the bar. The lady that was pouring beer was very helpful. Got to say The stein of beer I got was very good. Believe it was a larger. The food was so good my sandwich was yummy The sauerkraut was amazing. My side I got potato salad it was a little different it was warm. I never had it that way but it was good. My wife food was yummy too the spicy mustard was so good. We were regulars, came after the new year after the potato drop and their bar tender with black hair kinda short yelled at multiple friends AND customers for waiting in line for the bathroom, then proceeded to take shots out in the back. She then banged on the doors of the bathrooms. She was so rude and unprofessional on a celebration night it was actually insane. THESE ARE PAYING CUSTOMERS. Pushing past customers yell at them "f***ing move"! Popped in here quick on a Saturday around 6pm while we waited for our table at a restaurant. 4 of us, the inside was crazy packed so we grabbed an outdoor picnic table. We got a pretzel to split and some drinks. Only a couple guys working but they took our order quick. The pretzel came out crazy quick. Definitely wasn't anything worth writing home about but it did the trick while we waited. I think closing out and getting our tab is what took the longest. Oooh! I love Prost! Anytime I have friends or family visit from out of town this is where we start. The pretzel is perfectly salted and buttery, the cheese is top notch (nothing I've ever tasted before), and I am not much of a beer drinker and their grapefruit beer is HEAVENLY. If you don't like beer TRY THIS BEER it's the grapefruit one at the top of the menu (it'll turn you into a beer drinker). I love their cozy patio, service is always prompt and friendly. Cool little German inspired beer hall in DT Boise. I visited on a Friday afternoon and got the $10 lunch special, which included half a pastrami sando and bowl of potato salad. Food was good although portions were pretty small. Combined the food with a house hefe which was really tasty. The boot beer! This place is def fun! Great atmosphere. Came in with a group of friends & we all decided to do the boot beer which you pass around and someone has to be constantly drinking out of the boot if you stop you lose but I'm unsure what you lose or win since the main focus at the time was we need to win!
