A great culinary experience. The place is cozy warm and quite friendly. The wine and the food and their services was above and beyond. The pasta is made daily and absolutely cooked perfectly. And you must finish the meal with Lemonchello Tiramisu. It's out of this world.

ALAVITA is a romantic Italian restaurant downtown Boise. They are known for their hand made pasta which is exquisite. Their ingredients are always fresh and seasonal. The ambiance is intimate and perfect for date night

I was truly impressed with Alavita. You can tell that their food is made from scratch with delicious local ingredients. The interior space is smaller than I expected but it provides such a cozy feel to the restaurant. We started off with the chefs charcuterie board and the focaccia. When I first saw that there was a coffee aioli on the board I immediately thought I wouldn't like it but boy was I wrong. It had the best flavor and was delicious spread on some bread. They had a great assortment of meats, cheeses, and spreads. For my entree I got the tagliatelle. It was a classic pasta bolognese and exceeded my expectations. Of course to round off the night we had to finish with the limoncello tiramisu. We had the best service and overall the best experience. We will be back!

Came here to celebrate a special occasion while in Boise. Quaint little spot with old school charm. Enjoyed the welcoming and friendly service from the moment we stepped into the restaurant. We started with the burrata and the chef's crudo. Plenty to share and the yellowtail was fresh. I thoroughly enjoyed the rigatoni dish - an amalgamation of flavors that one might question but turned out to be rich and delicious. Additionally, we ordered the tiger prawns which were perfectly cooked and juicy. They have a nice cocktail and wine menu to pair.

I took my wife to Alavita for her birthday dinner two weeks ago. We made a reservation for a Tuesday which was good as it filled up fast. They put us at a small table that was up against two walls in the front corner. Not necessarily comfortable as you couldn't slide your chair back. The waiter was basically the bartender, so you can imagine service was painfully slow. We started with a couple cocktails that were good but very expensive. I then switched to beer(Peroni). We had meatballs and a burrata appetizers. Both were good. For dinner, my wife had carbonara and I had rigatoni with braised short rib. We debated over whether the carbonara was actually carbonara. It did not taste like it nor did it have any bacon. The noodles were quite overcooked as well. The rigatoni was good though. For dessert they did give my wife a birthday piece of limoncello tiramisu with a candle, so a nice touch. I wouldn't say we had a spectacular time, but we may give it another try with different entrees. I'd recommend they add a waitress or waiter and let the bartender deal with only the bar. Also do something about the cramped seating in the corner.

I travel to Boise on business several times a year, and do my best to get out and try a new restaurant when I can. Do not skip this spot. I sat at the bar and had a couple glasses of wine, the seasonal beet salad, rigatoni, capped off with an espresso and tiramisu. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere is cozy and small. Chefs kiss y'all!

If I lived here, this would be my spot. I would come here at least weekly to experience their charming atmosphere and lovely staff, happy to guide you through their Italian wines and (gluten free if desired) pastas. I almost cried when the pasta arrived and the taste didn't disappoint.

This is our first time in Boise and our waitress at brunch actually recommended Àlavita for us to try for dinner. We were not disappointed! We came around 8:15pm on a Friday night without a reservation and did not have to wait for a table. This restaurant is downtown and walking distance from a lot of other great shops and bars. They have a nice patio outside with a beautiful chandelier hanging above it. The interior is on the smaller side but feels larger than it is because of the high ceilings. It has an elegant and cozy vibe with dim lighting, red and black themed decor, and an overall quieter atmosphere. We each started with a glass of wine, a Sauv Blanc and a Chianti. We went with the burrata for an appetizer, it was a good serving size for two people! Light and spreadable cheese on the inside, served with plenty of bread. I've heard that this place is known for their pastas which are made fresh in house daily, so we had to try some! I went with the black ravioli and my husband got the rigatoni with braised short rib. Both were excellent! The ravioli had a nice lemon cream sauce. The braised short rib in the rigatoni was so tender and added the perfect flavor to the pasta sauce. Serving sizes were decent for a restaurant like this. Service was good, our waitress came by to check on us and refill our drinks several times. Nothing negative to say about this experience, thank you for a great first dinner in Boise!

Is it noisy on Friday?

Yes. It's noisy most of the time because it's packed most of the time. Probably not the best choice for quiet, romantic, reflective, but certainly the place to be for terrific, inventive food and a fun, lively atmosphere.

The last time I ate here, I really enjoyed our meal so I knew I was in store for a good lunch. I arrived first. I hung out for a bit. Raylyn (sp) greeted me and asked me if I wanted anything to drink. I had a flavored water so I content for the moment. My friend finally showed up shortly after. We got started on the foccacia bread and olive oil/balsamic dip. The bread was good but it wasn't warm like the previous time. It was nicely seasoned and buttery on top. The olive oil/balsamic dip is so good with it! We breezed over the menu while we were enjoying the bread. Raylyn came and took our order. We ordered some fried mozzarella to share. For lunch I got a side of meatballs and my friend got the chicken parm on pasta with a side salad. The fried mozzarella was so good! The piece of mozzarella that was fried was so thick! I had a fourth of one of the cheesesticks. I didn't want to get too full when I still had meatballs coming. My meatballs were so good! It was generously covered in their marinara sauce. It was rich in tomato with a slight heat to it, so good! My friend's chicken parm pasta was a generous portion! I probably could have made 3 meals off of his plate. He enjoyed the chicken of course and had some of the pasta. We couldn't end lunch without some birthday dessert so my friend got some cannolis started. This is my first time trying a cannoli and woooooow! It was so good! The cream in the middle had a orange flavor to it with some chocolate chips. The exterior of the cannoli was crunchy and sweet. The ends were dipped in semi sweet chocolate and was so good! I probably could have polished 2 more but I was so full from lunch. Next time I'm going to just have the bread and cannolis. That dessert was perfection. Lunch was fabulous today. Our food and dessert were divine. Raylyn did a marvelous job taking care of us! She was kind, attentive and is great at customer service. I can't stop thinking of those cannolis and I look forward to coming back soon to have some more!

We waited so long, we asked for our boxes and meals to go before it was even served to us. I really wanted to get this place more stars but at this point it's probably a three star if not a 2 1/2. Flavors felt a bit flat, and for the price point, I was expecting something more refined or at least more balanced. Service was also inconsistent. Our server seemed friendly but stretched thin, It didn't feel like anyone was really paying attention to the table. They seems to be paying attention on the phone than the table. And they seem really rush us out when they were only 8.30 pm when they close at 10 pm not sure why they keep asking if we need a box and put down the check right after we got our food. That is a good thing for the new young owners who bought this business. Whether the former owners are still involved in any way, I do not know except to say they were seen dining in there on at least one occasion since the change happened. Since there are enough of us who had all around miserable experiences with the previous owners and said "never again", this comment is for others know that now is the time to come back. The ownership transition seems to have happened sometime after November of last year. If you check the website you'll see the "about" part of it is still about Vincenzo. I recommend the new owners change that to indicate this young couple is now at the helm. The menu, largely pasta, is about the same and with price points running from roughly $23 to $27 for them. Antipasti (cold and hot) start at about $13 for a salad to $23 for fried calamari and shrimp. The owner mentions that they plan to put the pizza oven in the space (see my long ago taken photo) to work as a pizza oven. (To now in the old ownership days it was used to finish bread.) Additions are also planned for for the menu. You will still need a reservation. The access problems from before are the same now. But the entire vibe of the place under the new ownership clearly including a skilled chef, will refresh your appetite to eat at this trattoria if it was ruined by the previous owners.

I wasn't expecting them to wait but I'm happy that they did! The drinks and apps kept them at bay till we arrived. The venue is stunning! I love the decor here. I have always been intrigued with European vintage decor and this restaurant is beautifully devoted decorated with this kind of esthetic. Such a romantic setting. The rich deep red wall. The ornate vintage frames. The plants. It's truly a beautiful set up. After my husband and I got settled in and drinks ordered, we got dinner placed. I got 2 orders of meatballs and my husband got the seafood pasta. While food was being worked on, everyone shared the bread and balsamic olive oil dip that was on the table. I heard the bread was good. I didn't get a chance to try it since it was communal. Our meals were slowly trickling out. My meatballs looked amazing! My husband's plate looked fabulous. You can see the shrimp, mussels, clams.... We all became quiet and started on our meals. My meatballs were huge! I have had meatballs at other restaurants and have been hungry still. The size of these babies let me know I was not going to have that issue. It was nicely covered in marinara. A hearty covering of parmesan. Everything about the meatballs were great! I have severe fomo so of course I had to try my husband's plate. I tried a couple of his penne. I was really thrown back at the heat of the sauce. I tried another bite and it was still spicy. The spice was something neither one of us were expecting. Before I say anything to our server, I did look over the menu to see if we missed anything in the description of the dish. No chili was listed. Nothing about it being garnished with chili flakes. From reading the menu, no spice was described in the dish. My husband has a real sensitive pallet so I asked the manager/owner why spice wasn't indicted in the menu. We wouldn't have ordered it if there was. The manager said they can remove the sauce and add new sauce that didn't have chili flakes in it. "It would make it less spicy." I was actually surprised he didn't suggest a new dish that didn't have heat in it. We were complaining about the heat and I honestly don't think replacing sauce that has spice in it with new sauce with spice will do anything.... but hey, we went with it. The second dish was made and dropped off. Unfortunately, the sauce was still spicy and my husband could barely eat it. He ate the seafood which was a few pieces of shrimp, clams, bay scallops, mussels and fish. This dish was drowned in this sauce so there was no way to eat the seafood with the sauce. This dish is 34 bucks and my husband could barely finish the seafood. Our server was kind and got me birthday dessert. The chocolate cake was killer good! It wasn't overly sweet. The frosting was rich in chocolate and the cake was super moist. I only took a couple bites and took the rest home. I was not going to leave this bad boy behind. We spent a little over 70 dollars on dinner to have my husband leave hungry. I came home and made him a second dinner. Nothing more disappointing than spending that much money just to come home and eat again. Money is tight for everyone so the fact that we chose to come here and spend our heard earned money to have my husband hungry just makes my heart sad. Overall, my meatballs and cake were good. Service was great. The venue is very pretty. But, having my husband eat a meal that was poorly described in the menu is just disappointing and having him leave husband is upsetting. I'm happy I got to try it out but I don't think we will be hitting up this joint again any time soon.

We were sat in the little banquet room on the side. It's very nice and big so it comfortably sat the 9 of us. Our server got our drinks started and we looked over the menu. I was rather confused why she checked up on us a handful of times and never took our orders. After the 6th "check up" I asked her if she could take our orders. Honestly, we were tired of waiting. My husband and I decided to share a couple things. I really just wanted the clam chowder and salad, that's what I had last time and I really enjoyed it. But he convinced me to split a pizza and a chicken parmesan sammy. We did get a side of clam chowder with our chicken parmesan sammy so I was happy. Soups and salad seemed like forever to be served. I don't know what was taking so long. Salads are usually prepped and soup is already made for the day. It wasn't really busy so it annoying to wait a long as we did. But when it did finally come out, it so looked great. My soup was just as amazing as the first time I had it. I enjoyed the clams, muscles, and potatoes. It was rich and creamy. It was an excellent cup of soup. Our food started to trickle out slowly. I didn't get a chance to see my husband's chicken parmesan sandwich last time we were there so I can see why he wanted to order it again. The bread was fresh. The piece of chicken was generous and had a good amount of sauce on it. It was hot and savory. I enjoyed the couple bites that I took. The pizza we ordered was half cheese half pineapple. It was deep dish and the cheese was nicely melted all over the pie. After taking my first bite, I had to ask for extra marinara sauce. The pizza was all crust and no sauce. It was dry and needed the extra marinara on the side. I only had one slice, it was just too dense for me. We finished dinner and got our left overs boxed up. I thought our server was going to bring a birthday dessert for my nephew. He was told about the dessert and we hung out till we were over it. My nephew said he didn't need it so we decided it was time to head out. I'm happy we came and supported this local joint for my nephew's birthday. It's important that we support local owners. But overall service was ok for me. The large gaps in time waiting wasn't appealing. The pizza is something I wouldn't order again. The chicken parmesan sammy was decent. The clam chowder was killer and would be something I'd order again. Since we were basically here a week apart, I don't see us coming back anytime soon. But if we do, I'll just stick to what I had originally wanted.
