As of recent, this is one of my favourite places to venture in to. I've only been twice, once, unfortunately, after a funeral, and once, in more recent happy times, to catch up with pals and partake in the pub quiz they have every Sunday.
This place was buzzing with all sorts of great atmosphere! When we first walked in, we went straight to the bar to order some drinks. I got my usual cider and one of my friends in town from the states wanted some weird martini concoction. I think it was some sort of dirty vodka martini but there was something weird about it where the bar man thought she wanted both gin and vodka in it. It was quite comical when he brought it over, obviously confused and she tried it. It wasn't what she wanted and said she would drink it anyway, but he told her he would go make it right and bring it over to her. That was great of him and necessary but great nonetheless.
After a few drinks, we started getting a bit peckish so we ordered a couple of pizzas for the table. One meat feast and one veg. The veg, I was quite impressed with as there was loads of fresh veg and whole cherry tomatoes scattered everywhere. It's such a rarity these days to get fresh veg and lots of it on a veg pizza! The meat feast was just as good with lots of spicy chicken! This pizza had a thin base, but it was very delicious and it went down a treat with all of us! Bravo Chef Davie!
We stayed for the pub quiz and completely bombed some of the questions, but really, how can you go wrong with the music questions being name that tune in bagpipes?! It was so much fun, I can really see us all going back to try for the pot again!
I quite like Scaramouche, the staff are super friendly and welcoming, the decor is comfortable and there are loads of drinks on offer. This place is great for groups or even a romantic night for couples. I can't wait to go back! read more
