Everyone was super nice, friendly and efficient. Ordered the lamb dinner, and beef short ribs. Both dishes were cooked to perfection. Got a Romanian red wine--never had Romanian wine before, but it was good. Great atmosphere, cute restaurant--loved the whisky display! We also went to their sister restaurant around the corner, Kelp. Amazing seafood! Same situation: it was crowded, we didn't have reservations, but they made room for us. Kelp was definitely a highlight of the food in Scotland. Beyond excellent! If you are in Glasgow, I would highly recommend both places.

There's options around 15£ but typical plates are 20-35£. We were so hungry we forgot to take dinner pics; we had the Slow Braised Short Rib (uh-freakin-mazing!!) the Chicken Breast (juicy & cuts with a fork) and the Venison Stew (tasted like Filet). Drinks were delightful. Service was stellar (and they were FULLY booked on a Thursday at 8pm; but we shared the 2 tiny hi-top tables near the bar and had an amazing dinner). Dessert was worth going for all on it's own!

They were very nice on the phone and said no reservation needed that day and casual was fine. The space is really nice and classy as it says. The staff were all super nice!! Now the food, two of us had the Cote de something, basically a bone in ribeye. Talk about amazing!!! You could cut it with a fork, no kidding!!! No knife needed!! The garlic butter with it was not needed, but was also amazing, dipped my mashed potatoes in it. It isn't cheap nor overly priced, but for the classy place and the excellent meat and service it was worth it!!! I would rate this steak too 5 maybe top 3 all time!!! Waiter spent a great deal of time talking to us just as if we known him for a long time it was great. the level of friendliness and hospitality was very impressive. The menu is very nice and not expensive at all. TRUFFLED BRIOCHE- The dish is amazing even though I did not taste any truffle but there was a entire truffle mushroom itself there, the plate they presented it in was annoying to rest the silverware, was a bowl type of plate and the fork kept falling in lol GOLDEN BREEZE- the drink was suggested by our waiter and it was amazing cudos to him! GNOCCHI- WHAT an unfortunate plate. This was to me not a gnocchi.i love the fact that our waited noticed and made sure to ask me if everything was ok with my choice, that shows that the staff cares about customer service. The gnocchi was blend and tasteless it to me was more of a polenta and not a gnocchi it was cooked pan fried and not like a past should so it was not a great plate definitely not a gnocchi. I would definitely recommend the place, not the gnocchi but the place was pretty nice. come and have a try!

And after a small twist of the arm, I ended up having three more drinks than planned. They've got a full bar. Take that as you will. Thanks Olivia (x2), Liam, and Halima for putting up with me. We had reserved the private dining room downstairs, and had a dedicated bartender, who got us started with drinks. I tried a range of the peaty Islay whiskies, such as the Laphroaig 10, Lagavulin 8, and Lagavulin 16 - which smelled the peatiest but was surprisingly smooth. Once we were seated, we ordered a variety of starters. I tried the crispy fried calamari, hand diced king scallops, Stornoway black pudding croquettes, and Haggis Scotch Egg (my favorite), and then ordered the haggis carbonara (in honor of my Italian friend and colleague Adriano) as my main course. This was an inspired choice as I thoroughly enjoyed it, even though Adriano disapproved as they didn't make it "right!" Nobody else except me wanted dessert - I was curious about the traditional Cranachan (Scottish raspberries, whisky, cream and oats) - which looked delightful, but was more cloying than light and airy. Overall, a memorable experience, partly because of the drink and food, but mostly because I enjoyed the company of colleagues who are quickly becoming friends.

As it was only lunch I restrained myself and opted for a starter of the fish cakes with a side order of chips, which was just as well as the fish cakes were a tad on the small side. This was mildly disappointing at the time, but actually they would have been fine as a starter if you were moving on to something more substantial. I was glad I'd ordered the chips as well though. Herself as usual went for the eponymous bivalve molluscs that are the house speciality. These were quite on the large side, and disappeared before I had a chance to get a picture of the bowl so must have been good! An Americano coffee to finish was of good strength and taste, even if it was only just over half a cup; presumably they were leaving a gap for the milk that I didn't ask for and don't want. Still, I guess if they'd topped it up with water it would be weaker and that would be almost as big a sin. The restaurant is quite large and was pretty empty on this particular lunchtime. They have a mezzanine area upstairs that you can rent for private groups, which would be great if you had enough folk who were seafood lovers.

We were…read morelucky enough to be able to get a seat on an early Saturday night and try it out - an interesting menu, delicious food and friendly staff meant we walked out very content indeed! Located on Royal Exchange Square, one of my favourite places in Glasgow, I was dying to try this place out. We had attempted to go to another restaurant for an early Saturday dinner but it was "booked out" (read: one table of guests) so we ended up here. At reception the girl phoned up to see if they could fit us in which was lovely. The dining room is modern casual - a little similar to Hutchesons but without some of the awkward seating layouts they have. We went for the pre-theatre menu (£15.95 for two courses) - there's also a Yelp check-in deal which is the same offer but with a glass of wine as well, win. We actually didn't use the check-in deal as we shared a bottle of Chablis instead. We were treated to some lovely canapes to start which were very welcome, especially on a pre-theatre menu when you might not expect them! I had duck breast to start which was served really thinly sliced and was a smaller portion than I expected, but by the end of the meal I appreciated it! I then had the fillet of beef which was served with haggis and potato dauphinoise - a really well executed dish with a lovely red wine jus and a delicious dauphinoise. There was perhaps a little too much haggis with the dish but that's my own personal preference. We then decided to go for dessert and both got the creme brulee even though I really shouldn't eat quite so much dairy in one go. I stuck to just eating off the delicious top layer and donated the rest to Graeme which I'm sure he appreciated! Service was another highlight of our meal here - our main waitress was from New Zealand so her and I had a lot to chat about! She was super helpful and welcoming, and added an extra bit of sparkle to the meal. Overall service was really good without being stuffy or pretentious.

As with any such…read morerestaurant, they have to make sure there's a lot to shout about so that you'll get your friends to come along and try it. Shandon Belles does not disappoint! The menus are always fantastic, and they like to keep it all seasonal so the produce is as fresh and local as possible. There is a good variety of dishes for the munching, but there is usually only one vegetarian option available as a main course so if you have a veggie amongst your number, make sure to check the menu before you drag them in. I had the pleasure of attending a Christmas Lunch with my colleagues at this fine establishment. Everything was absolutely delicious. What I particularly like is that they have veg in bowls for passing around the group, rather than just dish them out regardless of people's preferences. You can have as much or as little as possible. Oh, and all their desserts are amazing, and they have different specials every week. The cheesecake is particularly good (and I shouldn't have it because of my lovely allergies), and they make their own tablet to go with the coffee! The waiting staff are ever attentive, filling your glass with the table wine whenever they spot an empty glass. They're always smiley and up for a chat as well! It's refreshing to see staff that seem to be enjoying the company of the customers. It certainly helps to foster a homely vibe to this charming wee place. Don't be shy, give it a try! Was my friends birthday meal here & 8 of us neatly packed in around one table on a busy Friday evening. Set menu at £16 for two courses and £18 for three (from memory!) They also have specials on, which tonight was a Pork Loin with mustard mash and a rosemary and thyme jus. (Can tell Fiona went for this!) Service was as I recalled & excellent the whole night. We pretty much spent 3 hours in there & the last table out... At no time did we feel anything was an issue for the staff. I had the chilli and tortilla chips for starters & pleasantly surprised at the chips being made in house. Absolutely lifted the dish for me to another level. Cottage Pie for mains & it was roasting! Could have done with room to move the meat around underneath, as some bits were a little oily, but it just needed mixed. Absolutely delicious delicate flavours mind. My only criticism of the meal experience, was the house wine they supply. Simply put at £10/12 a bottle - frankly rotten stuff. We ended up ordering from the buttery wine list to £41 for a bottle of pinot noir, to get something you could drink without tasting the chemicals! At £10/12, you can do a lot better on the wine front - no excuse there I'm afraid. Whole meal itself was a delight & more a dining experience with the quirks of old style plates/cutlery like in the pig and the butterfly restaurants. Will be back here to eat no doubt again & so should you! You Gotta Eat Here - For Sure!! :-D
