We bought two chicken dishes here last night and they were the worst curries we've ever eaten. I've eaten Indian food all around Asia, from decent restaurants to street food, and in some places in Asia you're gambling with your health. But I honestly have never eaten such poor quality food in my life as that bought in the Koh I Noor takeaway on Gibson Street. The sauces had food colouring in them by the look of it, and the chicken was leg meat that you wouldn't feed to your dog. Actually, if you can imagine diseased chickens who've had their legs amputated to save their lives it might give a better idea of what I'm talking about.
The warning signs - which we ignored - were that the place looks run down, it was totally empty on a busy bonfire night in the town, and the prices seemed excessive for a takeaway of this type. I was actually under the impression that this takeaway was owned by the Koh I Noor in Charing Cross, but the manager there told us they don't own the takeaway.
It's up to you whether you want to take the risk buying food here. For us, what we did eat of those meals made us feel so queasy that we were sure we were going to be ill the next day. Thankfully, we weren't. But it shows you how terrible the food is for us to even consider that a possibility.
Glasgow isn't short of places to get decent Indian food. The Koh I Noor takeaway on Gibson Street isn't one of them. read more
