I have indeed returned and I have bumped this place up by two stars to the max. I had such an awesome evening, I would definitely go back. Angela B. and I were in a beer garden mood as the weather was hot and super sunny, a rare occasion for Glasgow. Angela had had a recommendation for here so we thought, 'ach, why no'. Unfortunately the garden was full but we got a couple of comfy seats by the door, so plenty of fresh air to keep us cool. There was an abundance of drinks to choose from, and it just so happened to be the first day of the Beer Festival. Bonus! Angela got herself a wee cheeky MaryJane ale and I, my all time super favourite raspberry beer. We had a staff member who asked if we were eating in, which we were, and gave us menus. The crafty one, Angela, spied an awesome special deal on the board of two courses for £5.95. How amazeballs is that?! Either soup and main or main and sweet. A choice of Lentil soup, steak pie or a pasta dish. Can't remember all the choices, many beers were consumed. I had the cod goujons and chips, it was absolutely delicious. I had already had pasta earlier or I would have been on the deal like a rash. The staff were lovely and helped to made it a good experience. I'm so glad I went back and got to encounter an even better time with appetising food and drinks. I'll be back soon. Sold! read more

The Bon Accord, a bar that I've found myself in recent months returning regularly every week, it doesn't help that I live within five minutes walk of the bar but sometimes that's a good thing. It's always a nice feeling when you walk into a place and the staff recognise who you are, and even remember what you your usual drink is. I've always felt welcome here probably that's why I keep returning, but the beer may be also a factor. The Bon accord probably has the second most whisky in Scotland and at weekends this is sure a busy place with holiday makers from around the world. The bar has several televisions but I rarely notice the football when it's shown. Food is served and home cooked, I've yet to try it, I did look at one of their menus and their prices would hard to beat even by old JD'S. Bathrooms have nice smelling soap, deodorant supplied free, like Lynx but not that brand, only thing that l did notice missing is a bucking bronco. read more

The Bon Accord is one of those places that keeps you coming back. To start, it was the vast selection of real ales. You can spend a lot of time enjoying the lovely ales that they have along the bar. All well kept and pulled. Then the food. Simple stuff but somtimes it is nice to go for a steak pie and chips and get a decent meal every single time. Add soup or pudding and you have the everlasting Bon Accord Special. All of under a fiver - you would be hard pressed to find this quality of meal any place else for the price. Lately, it has been the whiskies on offer. Paul McDonagh has gone all out to obtain some amazing malts. Is it as good as the Pot Still? No and I would not expect it to be. But the point of this place is that you get everything else (Food and Ales) along with the amazing Single Malts. Three amazing points of goodness all tucked under one roof. read more

Ah, the Bon Accord. There's so many new and exciting places to explore in Glasgow these days, you sometimes skip over the old favourites. Very much the case with The Bon Accord, somewhere I hadn't been in a long, long, long, long time. For whatever reason, I just took a notion to have a shufty up this end of the town one Friday afternoon... and I'm glad I did. Entering through the doors, you're instantly at home. There's tables and chairs dotted around, each one with a clear view of the TV, essential for World Cup viewing at the moment. On the bar, there's a wide range - and I mean WIDE - of ales, beers, ciders and everything in between. Caledonian's Commonwealth Gold was the first one I sampled, followed by a River Leven IPA and finally a McEwan's IPA. I like IPA. What can I say? If you're not of the ale persuasion, then there is a HUGE gantry stocked with as much whiskey as you could shake a stick at. Why you'd want to shake a stick at whiskey, I don't know. You should drink it, really. In any case. I sat at the bar to take in the football, and I saw people around getting stuck into proper, good old fashioned pub grub. The steak pie looked stunning, and the soup of the day is a constantly changing thing of beauty. Y'know, it's a fine line in Glasgow these days. You want to explore these new places and make it worth their while opening - but don't forget places like this. It may be a little hike off the beaten track, and it might not have the bells and whistles that go with some of the new fangled style bars... but dagnabbit, the Bon Accord is a genuine touch of class in Glasgow. 7/24/17 This bar has the local Scottish feel I was looking for. We stopped in for dinner after walking the 1/2 mile to get here. The walk was rather pleasant so no worries there. I did a little research beforehand to make sure they had some options for my wife, who is a notoriously picky eater (she says its because she doesn't like anything), and they had some option for her. She chose the vegetarian Yorkshire pudding. She wasn't able to finish it all so I ate the last half of her dish. It was really great. The gravy was thick and rich and quite tasty with the onions and mushroom. The vegetarian sausage was unique in that it didn't have the typical sausage link fell to it: it was essentially fried bread shaped like sausage and tasting like it as well. The potatoes were spot on. I chose the 8oz sirloin cooked medium rare. It arrive almost well done but I chose to eat it anyway. It had some good flavor but if it was cooked properly it would have been great. Nice fries went with it and a small salad. Overall, very tasty. Great selection of real ales and a ton of whiskys, neither of which I was able to partake :( read more

This is quite a classy place with a heavy nod in the direction of proper beer, quality food and good behaviour!! Nah, its a good pub that lends itself to the sitting and supping of a Real Ale, rather than the full on "lets get umbrellad!!" of other joints nearby. This place is great for the football if your in this area and would rather sit back and enjoy the game rather than scream, yell and jump about. Old man pub, well maybe, but nice all the same and one best kept in mind if you don't fancy the fashion show that is Sauchiehall Street. read more

First time in here and I was loving it. On the soft stuff and didnt have a bite to eat.. so my review is limited to commenting on the great relaxed atmosphere, cosy interior and great service. Very much a whisky bar, they also have a well stocked bar with ales. Free wifi, with quizzes and live bands advertised on the wall along with good promos on food.. there are plenty of reasons for me to come back to this place and really sample it proper. We all have our own favourite drinking establishment, this one is mine. I'm not talking about just in Glasgow, or even Scotland. This is probably my favourite pub in the world. That might seem a little over the top, but I'm racking my little brainium trying to think of a better one, and I can't. I just can't. Part of the pub experience is walking in and seeing familiar faces, friends, people you can buy a drink for, and more importantly, will buy one back for you. I'm a regular, so this obviously colours my opinion of the Bon. But if this is your first visit, you'll still receive that welcoming vibe. Walk in here at any time and there will be 10 real ales on tap and a guest cider, plus the usual selection of generic beers and lagers. Couple that with the most extensive range of malt whiskies I've ever seen in a pub and what you get is sheer bloody brilliance. The decor is old school pub, wood and brass. Seating is mixed, from wooden seats & stools to comfy leather sofas and arm chairs. The tables are all named after whisky distilleries. The food is good old pub favourites, decent quality, and most importantly, cheap as chips. There is live music on Saturday nights, but this can be a bit loud and sometimes the bands that play seem out of place amongst serious ale drinkers. You'd expect more fiddles and banjos than indie/rock guitars. Although the impromptu bagpipe band has been known to wander through on occasion. The staff are fantastic. Friendly, cheerful and always able to offer advice on ale and whisky, especially helpful to those with little or no experience. Price of a pint: £3.00 (may have gone up with the VAT rise) Best for: relaxing on a winter afternoon, and not going home until Tom chucks you out. read more

5 minutes from the Hilton Glasgow. Cozy comfortable pub with friendly locals. Football or Rugby on the TVs and plenty of ales on tap. If you get an ale that tastes off, tell them and they'll get you something new.. I noticed that when they killed off a keg (3 taps directly in front of me over the evening), they would always pour out the glass they were drawing and offer the patron something else. It was nice to see them not serving the dregs! They then rotated in new beers that were completely different. There were around 12 different ales on tap. There was no attitude about letting me try a taste before purchasing and they kindly accepted my credit card. The perfect sports TV, plastic accepting, unpretentious, late nite food serving pub I've been looking for! Very comfortable for a non-local or business traveler! Got that old man pub feel to it but those are the best pubs. Good selection of drinks. Prices are reasonable. The food is fantastic. Check the blackboard for the lunch deal. Craig Brewster waz 'ear... When thinking of the wine snob, I think of James Thurber's cartoon - "It's a naive domestic Burgundy without any breeding, but I think you'll be amused by its presumption". I don't think I've reached the same heights when rating beer, but maybe I have? The truth is I could rate beer all day long, but my rating system's a little like - "good", "bad", "creamy head", "light", "amber", "dark" and where better to play this game than the Bon Accord with their 10 chalked-up visiting ales. Todays choice was a creamy headed, amber I.P.A which went down a little too well. But the Bon's more than real ale. It's a bustling pub made up by a variety of folk including students, academics, aftershaved-up Hilfiger shirt wearers, beer pundits*, middle-aged women and 'Clyde Valley Chapter' Bikers. They all seem to mingle amiably. There's also a massive selection of whiskies on the gantry (including "the oldest bottle in the world" at £900 a nip) and the usual selection of lagers on offer. Old dark wooden floors and a selection of comfy armchairs add character and there are loads of old sports curios to examine (including a Craig Brewster signed Dundee Utd top :-\). The food varies in quality and the specials are always the same, but it's very well priced and there's a 2 course daily menu for under £6. The staff are pretty friendly, efficient and generally very fast even though the bar gets busy. And to top it off you can watch the footie on the big screens, oh and there's a little beer garden out the back and tables on the pavement at the front where you can admire the Harleys and watch the world go by. All good stuff and well worth a punt. * Note: My fav Beer Pundit locals are two 50 something males with greased side parted hair who critique and rate all the guest ales in their little black books, all the while eating copious handfuls of dry roasted peanuts. I'm a big fan of proper pubs and the Bon Accord is certainly that. It has a well stocked bar with plenty of whisky and a good selection of real ales. Plenty of deep comfy seats and somehow it always has a table for everyone. I see it as more of a whisky bar or an ale bar than a place to drink other things, but if you'd rather have a bottle of wine they have a reasonable selection and all of the bottles seem to be £12.95. Of course they're perfectly well equipped to serve you other drinks too and all for a reasonable price, making this a great place to bring groups. The food is pretty much your traditional pub fare and the kitchen seems to close pretty early in the evenings, at least, I've managed to miss out on getting food for my last few visits and I don't think I've been showing up all that late. If you do get there in time expect favourites like steak and ale pie to be on the menu. Judging by the menus on the tables they're also quite proud of their coffee - so that might be worth a try next time I drop in. The staff know their stuff and you won't wait long to get served. The WiFi is free and provided by the cloud. They have TV screens, usually showing sports, and a pub quiz machine and on Saturdays they have live music. I'm always slightly weirded-out by the fact that the ladies toilets have a set of bathroom scales in them... like, am I supposed to weigh myself between pints? It just seems a very odd touch. Perhaps I'm overreacting. This is pretty much the perfect pub, odd bathroom accessories aside, so I'll forgive it. I just need to try harder to arrive in time for the food. read more

My first weekend in Glasgow, my roommate took me to this pub to have my first taste of Guinness. I was jet - lagged and suffering from a cold but my roommate, Marissa was insistent that I try a Guinness and Black. (basically helping me start drinking Guinness with touch of black currant). She started me out on a full pint since she wanted me fully immersed and I must say the Black currant softened the taste. It was sweet which helped take away that heavy, bitter taste when you first start drinking Guinness. Usually, most bars are dimly lit but there was enough lighting to see each other. The pub was cozy and laid back which was perfect for a group of new people getting to know each other. It was a great way to spend my first night in a new city and a great way to start my adventure read more

One of the last few real pubs left in the west side of Glasgow. Go here for the real ale, they have a rotating selection of 10 guest ales on tap, or if you want some really cheap but authentic pub grub (before 7:30pm!), best served with a beer. Being a decent sized pub it's also a haunt for various clubs and quiz nights. read more

If I'm walking into town from the West End, I often find an excuse for a detour via this cracking pub. Large, comfortable, friendly - it has an exceptional range of drinks, with the focus on malts, craft beers and ales - it's a great, traditional watering hole. Combine the friendly, knowledgeable staff, the free wifi, the aforementioned booze and the delicious, homely, well-priced menu and you are on to a winner! There's often quizzes, live music and tasting events here too - so, for me, as traditional boozers go, they don't get much better than this. A gem! read more

The Bon Accord is a traditional pub with a huge selection of draft ales, cheap prices and zero pretence. The beer garden can be a fantastic wee spot during the very few sunny days in Glasgow, although it fills up fast. The staff are lovely and very helpful and the clientele have always been very warm and welcoming whenever I've been in. Always engaging in chat and banter with anyone in earshot. The only thing I don't like is the food. Yes it is very cheap, but the quality shows that. I once eat with a group of 10 during a busy lunchtime were we committed the cardinal sin and didn't phone ahead (in fairness we had booked somewhere else and they'd cancelled last minute as their oven exploded!) yet they still managed to serve us all within 10 minutes, so everything is either coming out of a frier or a microwave. Which for the price that is to be expected, but personally I'd rather pay a little bit more if it meant better food. But if you can make your way through even half of the ales they have on draft you're not going to care what the food is like ;) read more

Always stay at nearby Marriott hotel. Short walk. It's a great traditional Pub, drink and food. Though I am not a big whiskey drinker my mates are and they love all the choices including the whiskey menu in an iPad. The pub food is "ok". Not the best, very good, very affordable (I would say cheap) but far from the worse. I come to Glasgow a few times a year from America and we come here several times a trip. Kitchen closed early though so don't be late. It's worth the trip to have a pint or two and gaze at the whiskey menu. read more

Can't really think of anything to fault this pub . Okay it's a fairly modern long open plan pub on two levels with the usual dark wood decor , bench stool and chair seating and the occasional TV . But it's got a lot going for it and it's obviously popular . Great selection of real ales and malts at very reasonable prices . Staff friendly and service good . read more

Offers a good range of beers but we hadn't time for more than a quick pint which was served cold in a clean glass - the way it should be. Terrific whisky and beer pub near the Mitchell library. It used to be famous for beers but now takes on a fantastic range of whisky and provides great pub food which draws a regular crowd. Real ales are aplenty and change frequently, owner Paul, family and team are helpful and passionate. 4 Whisky clubs meet here a month and are a friendly bunch, you can often stumble across a wee midweek tasting from one of the many whisky brand ambassadors, definitely one to make point of visiting. We arrived at the Bon Accord after a long slog around Kelvingrove. It was exactly what we needed. God, I love pubs like this-the warm, friendly fug of gentle conversations in a pub full of character. I've been in some great pubs in my time (Sorry Glasgow but my favourite pub in the entire UK is the Bow Bar in Edinburgh), and whilst I couldn't say the Bon Accord was better than those I think it is well and truly up there. It's one of those places where you could spend the afternoon looking at what's on the walls, then at the wonderful whisky collection before probably finish by looking at the floor! I loved it and it was certainly the best pub we visited in Glasgow. Beer is of course a strength and maybe what makes it "World Famous"-according to the beer mats. They had a full range of Loch Ness beers which included a hefty 10% one! They also had other beers on tap, so a very good range of whiskeys. I had a friend in town visiting so I thought we should do the tourist thing properly and try some whisky. We popped in here and were whisked back in time, to a place where men were men, whisky was the drink of choice and carpets and wallpaper were dark red or brown with a busy pattern on them. That is to say, this is the classic Old Man Pub, done right. There are dozens of quality whisky (and beer, I might add) options on offer, and the bartender will take a moment with a novice to recommend something. The food is CHEAP and tasty--classic pub grub. This is a great spot to show off some old school Scottish charm to a visitor, or just to grab a dram any old night of the week. read more

The Bon Accord is a bit of an old mans pub but I love to sit in it during the day with a pint, my girlfriend and a long day off. They serve up really good food at bargain prices. Soup and steak pie, veg, mash and gravy for under a fiver. Bargain! At night time it can get really busy but it has a nice wee smoking and back court area if it gets too crowded and is a comfortable place to sit during the summer and pass your day with some drunken chat! read more

Actually were in transit from London to Islay but planned a bit of a lay over in Glasgow just to go here on the recommendation of our tour coordinator in Islay. So glad we did. It is a lovely pub environment with a phenomenal selection of Whiskeys and Beers. The list is so big that they actually give you a tablet computer with all the selections and descriptions on it. The staff is wonderful and as the selection is so much for my first dram I put myself in the hands of the bartender who after a few questions on my whiskey preferences narrowed down to a lovely Speyside and then paired that to a beer to enjoy. The food menu is limited but was quite tasty, I had a spicy chicken with fries and some vegetables and was quite happy with it. Definitely worth popping into and a nice break in our travels to Islay. read more

Great time having a couple different malts - Auchentoshan and Ardbeg. They have over 400 malts in there. Since I asked to taste a few different scotch, the bartender gave me a set of sprays that you can spray on your younger three times to get a taste for the whisky. Amazing service :) read more

The name meaning Harmony. Sums up this fabulous pub beautifully. The atmosphere is fabulous and they often have live ceilidh bands, quiz nights and show top-sporting events on sky. This pub is extremely popular and does tend to get quite over-crowded. The food is tasty pub grub and you can get a two-course meal for around £4, which is normally served untill 7.45pm. It sells around ten different rolling ales on draught and has a good selection of foreign bottled beers and a variety of malt Whiskies. The staff here are exceptionally friendly. A good place to go for entertainment in traditional surroundings where you are assured a warm welcome. They also cater for children too however it is wise to pre-book as they will happily reserve a table in the back room for you. read more
