I'm not going to lie - the Park Bar is a bit of an old man's pub. It's covered from floor to ceiling with tartan, and the walls are decorated with bagpipes, maps of Scottish islands, and probably any other Scottish themed items that you can think of. Unlike most old man pubs, though, the Park Bar is actually really welcoming to those of us who aren't over 65. We went along for a bit of food one night - and were treated to really good friendly service. We were the only people in the place, though, aside from a couple of regulars who were propping up the bar. The food at the Park Bar is your typical microwaved pub food, but it was quite nice. They have quite a varied menu - and really, can you ever go wrong with lasagne?! In conclusion - the Park Bar has a great atmosphere (enhanced by the tartan I feel), friendly staff, quick service and decent food at even decent-er prices.

A lovely pub for authentic fish and chips and mince and tatties. Pretty empty on Monday evening but a steady stream of regulars popping in for a pint or dinner. I would certainly recommend this cute pub.

This strikes me as a GREAT bar to be in on a big football day. Specifically, the days that Scotland play. The inside is adorned with all sorts of national flags and scarves commemorating great Scottish defeats... sorry, just got ahead of myself there... Scottish games and moments in the Tartan Army footsoldier canon. It's a typical Scottish bar other than that. Good Scottish beers on tap, a good selection of whisky, a barstaff with a nice line in self depreciating humour and the odd burst of sarcasm towards the punters, but never crossing the line. It's always somewhere I passed by, but never went in, but once I'd been in once, I wondered why I took so long. This is an often overlooked little gem in this part of town. Pop in here for a few beers when the next Scotland game is on and soak up the atmosphere. And the booze. Always the booze...

There's a few reasons for that, and while I'm sure there's just something to the atmosphere that's impossible to quantify, these are the things that I think give it at least part of its charm. 1. The whisky. They have a huge selection and they're easily the best place to come for whisky in Finnieston, although most of the bars around here have a few bottles on offer. They staff are very knowledgeable about it, without being snobbish or pushy, and at quieter times are happy to make recommendations and to chat to you about their favourites. 2. It's small. Not in a cramped way but in a cosy way. You can sometimes struggle for a table but it's the kind of place where you feel OK about sharing tables with strangers. The regulars are friendly and are happy for you to pull up a chair 3. When there's music it's fiddles, usually being played by those friendly regulars. I saw an accordion there once but usually it's fiddles being played and being played well - they tend to get involved with the Celtic Connections music festival. 4. It's dog friendly. There's usually one or two dogs running around and the staff are happy to provide a bowl of water for them. So there you have it. Finnieston might be getting awfully fashionable but if that's not your scene it still has one of the least hipster-ish, most traditional whisky pubs in Glasgow and it's a pub that's well worth checking out.

It's cozy, crowded, and buzzing with life -- often standing room only and packed shoulder-to-shoulder with locals and travelers alike. If you're a whisky fan (or even just whisky-curious), do yourself a favor and try one of their Scotland whisky flights. It's like taking a mini tour of the country's whisky regions without ever leaving your barstool -- and without worrying about driving. The bartenders really know their stuff and are happy to guide you toward something you'll love. A quick heads-up: no football colors allowed, which keeps the atmosphere friendly and relaxed no matter who you support. And speaking of friendly -- the locals here are as welcoming as they come. This is exactly the kind of place where Scotland's famous pub culture shines. Prices are surprisingly reasonable too, so you can sample a few drams without feeling guilty. Whether you're a seasoned whisky nerd or just looking to experience the local vibe, this is the spot. Pull up a stool (if you can find one) and enjoy a proper Scottish night out

Their selection is so huge they don't have a menu, you just have to ask for your label or take their recommendations. Naturally, most of the selection is Scottish whiskey, but if you somehow prefer otherwise, (say you are a local tired of Scotch... or just want to reaffirm nothing beats a Scotch?) they do offer whiskey from other countries, as well as beer and ciders, as well as gin, rum and the like. They do offer pies and other bar food, but we went after dinner and just couldn't stomach more food, tempting as they may sound.

There are some tables and the bar is at the center with a nice display of alcohol both on tap and on the walls. Beer: there was large selection of beer and liquor to choose from. I was looking for a good stout and the bartender, Andrew gave me some really good recommendations. I settled on the Overtone Milk that he recommended and it did not disappoint. It was smooth, full bodied, and flavorful. Nice chocolate flavor with a hint of smokiness to it. My husband got the Drygate IPA and it was crisp and hoppy. Service: I always look for good conversation, attentiveness, kindness, and whether or not the server and or bartender was knowledgeable about what they're serving. Our bartender Andrew was all of the above. He was so welcoming, and my husband and I enjoyed the great conversation With him. He knew a lot about the selection of beers and whiskey, where it came from, and who it came from, so that was wonderful! Thank you Andrew for a great experience. We hope we can stop by again while we're still in Glasgow.
