This is a great pub just off George Square. Seat yourself if you can find a spot. Menus are at the table but you order at the bar. They have a burger & beer special. Plus a limited full menu. We got lucky finding a seat. Ordering at the bar was easy. We enjoyed our pints while waiting for our meal. The burger & chips was delicious. The veggie app selection was good. No rush to leave and the staff was very friendly. Definitely recommend this pub in Glasgow.

We were looking for a nice pub for lunch and found the perfect spot at The Drum & Monkey. Very nice, traditional pub with a good selection of food and drink. I had the steak & ale pie which was done if the best I've had. They have online ordering which makes it really easy if ordering with a group with individual tickets the service was prompt and pleasant. Great spot for food and drink if in the Glasgow Queen Street area.

First time having haggis and was pleasantly surprised on how good it was. I was scared learning of the innards and parts from an animal which kinda grosses me out. They had a December menu to order some special items and the weird part is that you have to go order your food at the bar and then pay for it. I was laughing with the cashier saying "I promise I won't run away and I am slower than a turtle". The fish n chips, smoked salmon, and the 2 of the 3 desserts were excellent. What wasn't so great was the cullen skink soup and the traditional whipped cream pudding called 'Cranachan'. The very sad part is that they had no to-go containers, no tin foil, or anything. Was saddened that we had a fridge and microwave in our hotel and couldn't put it to use. For sure would come back back when in the area.

Good golly, it's been over two years since I last set a foot inside this wooden chamber, which serves many drinks from it's woody old fashioned bar. This was were our Monkey Business crawl was to begin. Armed with monkeys, monkey ears and bananas I knew it was gonna be a day of much mischief and fun. We hung round the bar, looking cool in our monkey ears, as it was quite busy for a Friday afternoon but it was Good Friday, so many people were probably off like ourselves. The staff were lovely and also took an interest in our monkey attire and plans. They have a well stocked bar and even had fruity pink beer for little me. Yay! My man and Emma M. tried the Titanic cappuccino stout, I heard it went down well. Haw haw haw!! Sorry, couldn't help myself. The stout actually smelled lovely with its strong coffee aroma. I didn't try though, I had a feeling although it smelled nice I probably wouldn't like the taste, not my favourite combo. This was one of my favourite pubs of the day. It's ideally located centrally in town and not far for public transport. I would definitely pop back here again, a great wee pub with an affable atmosphere.

Haggis. I don't know what imagery your mind conjures up but if you've never seen it or had it, I recommend you try it. Post Haste! My sister tried hard to deter me from getting haggis but I was on a mission. While wandering around Glasgow (stop 2 of our British Isles cruise) and after visiting a free museum and the main shopping area we happened upon a pub. A pub called, The Drum and Monkey. I ordered the haggis lunch and scotch eggs while my husband ordered the cod fish and chips. This was my first introduction to haggis and if everyone makes it as good as this place, I'm set for life! It was spiced well and the texture was similar to ground meat only better!!! Scotch egg was also on point. This was probably the best fish and chips we'd had on the whole tour of the British Isles, too. The fish was cooked perfectly with a light batter and the chips were also superb. Crispy. Of course I had a beer. I opted for the Black Scottish Stout. Wow! Nice and smooth. It went really well with my haggis. If you happen to be in Glasgow and you happen to be a little hungry or thirsty, I highly recommend stopping into this pub. The food really was fantastic. And also .. reach out to the local Yelpers. The people of Scotland are so darn friendly! Cheers!

Veggie sausage - gravy and veg

Looking for a bite to eat on a very wet Wednesday, the Drum and Monkey was a handy choice for two weary workers with wet feet (I'll stop now). The section at the back of the pub has a few nice booths* and felt quite cosy. The menu is typical hearty pub grub and has a few different veggie options which I'm always keen to try. I opted for veggie sausage, gravy and mash. Not being a huge mash fan I was able to swap this for some veg without a problem. The server was really friendly and our food arrived pretty quickly (although it was quite quiet). My friends order of scampi and chips was served in a cute mini frying basket which was a nice touch and the food was all served piping hot. My veggie sausage were pretty tasty and the veggie gravy was thick and full of flavour. The portion sizes were just right (although my friend could have handled a few extra chips which were proclaimed the best she'd had in a while!), leaving us room for a bit of dessert. A chocolate fudge brownie cake with icecream with two spoons was hot and fudgy (just how a brownie should be). At £20 for two it was a bit of a bargain and somewhere I'll happily keep returning to. * If you sit in one of the booths at the back there's a lot of vibration from the nearby traffic/ train station?? - we couldn't work it out exactly but it sort of feels like you're on a train!

Stopped in for lunch and a couple beers. Great pies and a good selection of beer on tap.

Found this great local pub through a few friends who had been here on their last visit. This pub has a great atmosphere with lots of seating and a great beer selection. This is a perfect spot if you are looking for pub food and great local beer. Highly recommend

Recently here with my boyfriend and one of his friends who lives outside Glasgow, this place is a real treat. We've been in many times before and have always gotten in and had drinks without issue. Its quite spacious with many tables and bar seating which is nice. Its always quite packed so its always a plus when we're able to find a seat. The bar maids are always friendly and service is quick. Don't let those friendly faces fool you though, they won't take any bull off the patrons and are quick to throw the rowdy football fans out if need be. Another plus is that they serve your standard pub fare at affordable prices. I've only been in for drinks, but am definitely keen on trying out their food. Wether stopping in for a pint after work or on a pub crawl around the city, Deum & Monkey is a must stop for all your bevvy needs!

I love The Drum and Monkey. It looks lovely inside, clean and elegant with a well-stocked bar in the centre that has a London-feel to it. They serve Pepsi Raw, which is difficult to find in Scotland, and a variety of spirits and sipping whiskies. They do tasting evenings as well, which are worth looking out for. The food menu is traditional Scottish pub grub, with steak pie and toad in the hole for e.g. The fish and chips is immense, but the gammon, egg and chips is the real highlight of the menu for me. They do a lunch menu 12-5 now at £5 a meal (they normally cost around £6.95). The staff are friendly and welcoming and it is a quiet and relaxed place where you can have a good conversation. It is ideal for working lunches or a late dinner in a couple. Food is served till late which is great. Recommended.

Large aesthetically-pleasing bar which is the choice of the more discerning 5pm Friday crowd. Granted, it's not the sort of place I'd arrange a night out in. However, I'm more than happy to meet people in here and I've always found the atmosphere to be lively and welcoming. The food comes in the sort of portions you should expect from a bar and there is also a fantastic choice of real ales available. Recommended.

Great steak pie with fresh vegetables. Fish and chips were solid but excellent mushy peas. The wine was inexpensive but decent. I'd revisit !

this is an easy place to find if you're hanging around the bath street/buchanan street area in Glasgow. i had sincere and friendly service from the bar staff, and they have a good selection of cask beers. Pop in for lunch, they have specials and food/beer combos that are really reasonably priced. i had gammon steak and eggs (i'm told gammon is the back leg of ham) which was really good. my girlfriend had their smoked haddok and cream soup, which she said was really tasty and not too heavy. i'll definitely pop in next time i want some lunch whilst visiting Glasgow

It's cozy, crowded, and buzzing with life -- often standing room only and packed shoulder-to-shoulder with locals and travelers alike. If you're a whisky fan (or even just whisky-curious), do yourself a favor and try one of their Scotland whisky flights. It's like taking a mini tour of the country's whisky regions without ever leaving your barstool -- and without worrying about driving. The bartenders really know their stuff and are happy to guide you toward something you'll love. A quick heads-up: no football colors allowed, which keeps the atmosphere friendly and relaxed no matter who you support. And speaking of friendly -- the locals here are as welcoming as they come. This is exactly the kind of place where Scotland's famous pub culture shines. Prices are surprisingly reasonable too, so you can sample a few drams without feeling guilty. Whether you're a seasoned whisky nerd or just looking to experience the local vibe, this is the spot. Pull up a stool (if you can find one) and enjoy a proper Scottish night out

Their selection is so huge they don't have a menu, you just have to ask for your label or take their recommendations. Naturally, most of the selection is Scottish whiskey, but if you somehow prefer otherwise, (say you are a local tired of Scotch... or just want to reaffirm nothing beats a Scotch?) they do offer whiskey from other countries, as well as beer and ciders, as well as gin, rum and the like. They do offer pies and other bar food, but we went after dinner and just couldn't stomach more food, tempting as they may sound.

Well, they did give us a splendiferous spread with copious plates of delicious food to try. In January they had a Winter Sale on with some meals available at £4 and £5 so decided to take advantage of this with my bestie and fellow Yelper Angela B. As a result I ended up with a taste tantalising wee mac and cheese topped with bacon bits including a wee bucket of chips. Not bad for a fiver. Boom! I've also frequented for drinks and they have an excellent bar selection, there's even some cheeky fruit beers in there. Yay! I would highly recommend popping in for a wee swally or a sit down meal within the designated dinning area. It's pretty, it's relaxing and the music is pretty good with some 90's indie beats to tickle your ear drums. Other music probably plays at other times. It's also bang smack right in the middle of town so super handy but ladies beware of the icy blast of the hand-drier in the toilets. Ice burns beware! Please note, not in the Urban Dictionary sense. I opted for the taster plank - 1 third of a pint of three different ales, served in a plank with the beer names written on. That in itself is a great touch, a few places don't identify which beer is which. I had a Casear Augustus from Williams Brothers, a Fake Lager from Brewdog and a Witless IV from Red Willow Brewery - as you can see, there's a great range to choose from and the staff were really helpful and knowledgeable about them all. While I was looking around and supping my drinks (the Witless was the pick of the bunch, fact fans!) I noticed the menu. I knew that The Raven were offering food, but wasn't too sure what. Looking at the menu, it looked pretty nifty so I figured I'd just eat here, and I was glad I did! The food is BBQ based - low and slow smoked pork, burgers, ribs, that sort of thing. There's been an explosion of this kind of food in Glasgow recently, I perhaps lay the blame at the feet of Adam Richman and Man vs. Food (my dream job too, it has to be said) but I'm not complaining! I opted for a pulled pork burrito with a side of spicy cheesy fries, and at £9 for the two, it was a steal. They arrived quickly, the fries in a basket and the burrito served on a platter. I was given cutlery before the food arrived, and what looked like a carrying case full of sauces, salt, pepper, kitchen roll and a great sight, a wet wipe! A great thing to have when eating what is esssentially finger food! There wasn't a long wait at all for the food; The burrito was lovely, really filled to the brim and fresh - but the spicy cheesy fries were stunning. Covered in jalapenos, cheese and a smoky, spicy BBQ sauce, they were quickly devoured. I could honestly have had a second helping of those on their own. A great first impression here, not just for the great food, but for the really helpful and friendly staff, and the attention to detail that the whole place shows. It's somewhere that I can see me returning to time and time again.
