Title: Ongoing Equipment Issues and Unacceptable Support…read more I've had two sensors giving me "low battery" errors for about six weeks. Every single time I tried to fix them, I had to work with ADT support because their system requires you to go through them -- you can't just reset or fix things easily on your own. Today, because I was leaving town, I called ADT so I wouldn't have to leave my home unsecured. After almost two hours on the phone, the first technician could not reset the sensors. I then asked to speak to a supervisor, who also tried and failed to fix the issue. They escalated it to higher-tier technical support, and that didn't work either. I was told a senior technician would call me back. I waited all day for that call. When he finally called, I answered, but he did not respond and hung up. I then received a message saying he would call back. Over an hour later, he called again. I answered again -- and once again, there was no response and the call disconnected. After six weeks of repeated problems, hours on the phone, and no resolution, I still have malfunctioning sensors. For a company that sells "security and peace of mind," this experience has been the exact opposite. I would not recommend ADT based on this experience.

I'd give this company less than zero stars, if possible…read more Last month (September 2025), I spoke with Vivint to cancel my account and they immediately refused, stating I had signed some bogus 5-year contract. The reason I know it was an illegal, fake, forged document is, it was signed electronically as, "N. Lucxx". I haven't been "N. Lucxx" since 2019, my name legally changed in early 2020. My legal name has been N. Zetxxx ever since. Meanwhile, Vivint claimed that two years ago, in 2023, I signed a 5 year contract that I would have had no reason to sign, since I owned the equipment and would have no desire to pay $89.99 a month for a monitoring service alone, especially for 5 years without cause. Typical monitoring services these days run $22 not $89! Nor would I "sign" the wrong name. How many other fake 5-years contracts are out there no one catches because their names don't change?! Or they have to "buy out" the fake contracts? How much is Vivint getting away with being predatory?! The Vivint rep tried to finagle a cheaper monitoring service, tried to add new equipment, of which I didn't need, and many other options. Anything but my request to close the account. They said they'd speak to someone higher and call back the next day. They didn't call back so I assumed they handled it without needing to call me. Fast forward to this month (October 2025) and I get a call to put in the monthly payment of $89.99, since my card was changed recently so they couldn't scam me by continuing to charge me after my disclosure of their false document after the request to cancel. They provided the false forms to me, by the way. They thought they had a "gotcha" moment but it was a reverse uno. Anyway, I said you may absolutely not charge my card and explained the situation. A lady named "Richard" escalated the situation with haste. I've never been talked to so poorly nor set off so badly than to their inadequate customer service rep (like most), in my life. Vivint has world class terrible service. No one surpasses them in inefficiency. Meanwhile, "lady Richard" told me that I owe Vivint and that a manager would tell me the same thing so I shouldn't bother talking with someone who can cancel the account. Yes, the company who forges signatures on fake contracts to defraud their loyal customers will not even let you speak to anyone higher than their hired henchman. Again, they must take courses on what "not to say" to customers and go for it! Not my finest moment, but I'm sure "lady-Richard" is keenly aware of my feelings about Vivint and her customer service "skills". She hung up on me as I yelled to speak to a manager (unfortunately, since she just talked over and disrespected me - which made me feel like a Karen, a fate worse than death). Next, I called back and spoke with an Aza. She was much better than "lady-Richard" but still did not help me close my account. Of course to get to Aza, I had to explain everything to someone else, then her again. She says she's calling me back tomorrow but that's what last month's "excellent service rep" said, so I'm not holding my breath. When asked why it's so hard to close accounts, I was told it's "because Vivint doesn't want to lose customers." Does Vivint have anyone with a business background running the show or some nepo baby? Keeping customers does not mean terrorizing them and falsifying documents to keep them on. Fake contracts do not work in this world. Vivint should be held accountable for their illegal activities and their tactics should be remedied, immediately. I still demand my account is closed and that September 2025 and beyond is refunded. Someone should look into how many other people have fake contracts added to their accounts! It's illegal! Not to mention, the amount of scamming they do with the equipment situation and price gouging for services. Shame on Vivint! I was a loyal customer for a long time but I will never, ever use their services or anything they're affiliated with as long as I live and I will ensure all my friends and loved ones are well aware of their predatory services. No one should have to tolerate such behavior from any service of which they are paying (way too much). I have copies of their forged contracts if you'd like to see them. If they've made newer contracts to reflect my legal name since September of 2025, they're even shadier than I'm pointing out. Scam artists that need to be stopped. Immediately! Since when is this behavior okay towards anyone?! Customers should be protected from business like Vivint!

Equipment is mediocre at best. The worst part is trying to cancel service with them. We sold our…read morehome, canceled service & paid whatever remaining balance. We continued to get notices that we were past due. 3 different times AFTER we canceled, we had to call them again to cancel. Each time they assured us that the account was now closed and we wouldn't get any more invoices.... THEN we get sent to collections. What a nightmare. Avoid Vivint! They are either extraordinarily incompetent OR intentionally making it nearly impossible to stop service. Regardless, I would never recommend them!

One maintenance tech in 663,300 square miles ( the state) $2,197 upfront cost. 54.99 month, 60 month contract! continued ACH billing from my account after I've cancelled with a return receipt letter. BULLSHIT! well...I was an idiot: 5 years ago. what I got: 1.Problem with sensors, result...fixed, but the only tech in alaska, was in Kenai....the only one! It was a pain scheduling our busy schedules with the one and only tech that alder has within 663,300 square miles. 2. Sensors reporting low batteries....when new. no other real problems...but my confidence was low based on the sensors . I've researched. There are new, better, less costly, monthly, no contract alarm companies, and installations you can do yourself, that work EXACTLY THE SAME! I sent, as per the contract, not one, but TWO, certified return receipt requested letters to announce my cessation of requested service to Alders business addresses. One was returned as " un-deliverable" to the business address listed in the contract I signed...wtf. I disconnected the alarm. TWO, yes TWO days later, I was contacted via email that they had detected a problem with the system. Would YOU subject your family to a two day response alarm company? They act on the phone as if they didn't get my notice requesting cessation of services. They send letters warning that I wouldn't want to do anything that would subject me to" double billing" ie, Alder and my new company... suggesting they will continue to try to debit my bank account. ( already contacted alaska usa...not going to happen) Unethical to suggest they are going to bill me on top of my new company. Unethical to contact me over and over and over, trying to get me to keep paying twice what other families pay in the area. Stupid to think they can compete with more reputable places, like...say....ADT or Vivinit, or Simplisafe, that allow you to control your monthly costs by either purchasing the equipment upfront, or offering 1/2 the obligation, for 1/2 the time. I went with a monthly, no contract company. 24.99 mo for cadillac service. Alder goes by: Alder Holdings LLC, Alarm Protection Technology LLC, Alarm Protection Technology Alaska LLC, and Alarm Protection Alaska LLC. do some research, go to the bbb in alaska and utah. surf. don't be an ignorant like I was:

They have terrible business practices and have litigations against them in 2 states and is not BBB accredited. I have a very long time line of my dealings with Alder and the promises made and not kept. I was promised no monthly charges by 3 different people who were "Account Managers" and have terminated the contract based on no service provided by Alder. If phones calls are made, the number is not identified or a message is not left, no email contact at all. There are to many systems out there now that you can be set up by yourself with little to no help so I would suggest to anyone to go that route if you can afford it and stay away from Alder or any of its affiliates.
